61  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many percent of internet users and overall people use bitcoin ? on: October 17, 2013, 08:59:20 PM
that made me lol hard.  I think lots of people have "heard" of bitcoin, most ppl i talk to have.  I've yet to meet someone irl who uses bitcoins, other than ppl i've talking into holding a few.  I'd say its very small still, but growing rapidly.
62  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BREAKING: Black Market Reloaded closes its doors after security breach on: October 17, 2013, 08:54:35 PM
well i'd prefer to see him close the site than go to jail. as long as there is a demand for weed on the internet, someone will step in to supply it.

Verse 101 of the same song started in early 2011....

~BCX~
yeah except now they call it the end when litecoin goes from 2.50 to 1.89 instead of when bitcoin goes from 2.50 to 1.89

gold silver and platinum all have many many practical uses.
66  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How did you get your first bitcoin? on: October 14, 2013, 06:54:54 PM
roger ver gave me my first bitcoin, i was ordering 2 casacius bitcoins from him and at the time he had a special for 5 percent of the total order back in bitcoin.  The offer was for his memoryonly but i didn't realize that and sent him a bitcoin address. He said lol i can't give you five percent back in bitcoins when you are buying bitcoins but here is one bitcoin so you can now have one.  they were roughly 2.37 each at the time.  Moral of the story, Roger Ver is kickass.
67  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Silk Road: Trail of 11,329.89BTC on: October 14, 2013, 03:04:30 PM
its pretty impressive that you found that. i also didn't know that dpr is thought to be username altoid.  I guess in theory he could have just used a random address in the thread but unlikely.  now if we could only figure out the private key...
68  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Unbelievable Idiot! on: October 14, 2013, 03:00:20 PM
You guys are ridiculous.

He's right that Bitcoin isn't a unit of account since people price their goods and services in USD/EUR to BTC rates rather than Bitcoins themselves. Would you intuitively know how much a coke is in BTC? I bet you can do it for your local fiat currency though.

I should continue the criclejerk though: He say bad about Bitcoin, he bad! He know nothing! Angry
i will sell you a coke for 1 btc, shipped.
69  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is now no longer about drugs. It is about the same time for gambling. on: October 13, 2013, 10:49:06 PM

70  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This page shows that RMB accounts for 55% of all BTC transaction volume on: October 11, 2013, 07:29:40 PM

71  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Brand new kind virtual currency - CAPTCHA coin on: October 11, 2013, 05:01:03 PM
yeah its an ok idea, although i agree that there would be much better ways to require human input. how about a need for speed coin where every x amount of minutes there is a race in a game like need for speed and the winner of said race is reward with one block of coins.  that way you can't use child laborers (or at least if you do they will have fun!)  and you can accurately predict the generation curve.  You could make the tracks more and more difficult as more miners (ie racers) join the game.

BCB gets a post award for quality.  Thank you sir.   Smiley

Yes, quality fore-lock tugging, bowing, scraping and general sycophancy.

I think Lao Tsu would approve of BCB's post.

76  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why the downfall of Silkroad will be the partnership of bitcoin and the US gov on: October 10, 2013, 08:33:47 PM
IMO

Gov. Regulation of BTC + No SR = Death of BTC

Really if the gov. starts fiddling around with BTC why not just go back to USD, wtf would be the difference at all?

Would you rather have the government ban BTC?

No I'd probably just move to a different cryptocurrency, that's the beauty of it cryptocurrency is a moving target, bitcoins just the most popular.  The minute I hear the government is playing around trying to pass some kind of bitcoin related legislation I'm dumping everything into FTC LTC and WDC.

this is one of my big defenses of alt currency. it keeps crypto extremely fluid.  If the gov goes after btc blockchain you can switch to ltc blockchain fairly painlessly, then if they go after ltc blockchain you can go back to bitcoin or on to namecoins or whatever.  This is just a theory tho based on the current ease of exchange between btc and alt currency.
at the end of the day history has shown that governments as large and corrupt as the us government fail at more and more things until they ultimately collapse.  The idea that they could provide positive benefits to a system intentionally designed to not need their help is a bit naive.
77  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DWOLLA - Important information regarding virtual currency‏ on: October 10, 2013, 08:23:18 PM
yeah i wonder, i had never heard of dwolla until i found out i could use it to (then) xfer/receive money from mtgox.  I thought they had already done this tho, and i was wondering about it when i saw that coinmkt.com was going to use dwolla. i guess they just decided to completely severe ties in fear of our overlords.

80  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ross Ulbricht (allegedly a DPR of Silk Road) support & legal defense site on: October 08, 2013, 03:03:51 PM
multiple dpr's seems legit, as anyone would with a brain would want out after their first few million.  especially given the dpr reference in the first place, which was that the dread pirate roberts was a cover that was handed down after a certain amount of time.  Im not sure where i stand on the alleged murder for hire plots.  For sure if there was even a shred of that the feds/media would for sure to play it up to keep him from being a total martyr.  On the other hand power corrupts, money corrupts, and at his height dpr had both.   either way i hope that it comes out that ulbricht is innocent
