As I tell everyone I know, BTC should be a PART of an investment portfolio. It's extremely high risk, and therefore, high reward. But I don't think anyone should be putting all their eggs in 1 basket!

Electric cars are the first step. The truth is that so many industries are moving away from coal and oil and going towards renewables. Oil is finished in the long term IMO

|

So many factors that influence both supply and demand that it's hard to tell IMO

The value of 1 bitcoin is arbitrary, because it could be divisible in many more units. However the market cap has to make sense. I personally believe it could eventually reach the market value of Gold

The truth is that if it reaches 100$, it means that something is going very wrong!

Very good question IMO. If ever there is a huge solar flare that causes our networks to crash for a few minutes/hours/days, what would happen?

I've thought about this very often, and there are pros and cons to each: - Gold is used in electronics and in jewelry so it has some kind of "innate" value because of that - BTC is easier to buy/sell/trade/hold which gives it more "liquidity" value Overall I think BTC is more convenient, which is why I'm on this forum

Social engineering at its best. Really sorry for your loss, it's an absolutely devastating amount

Every year people are saying it's the year of Bitcoin. The truth is that it's impossible to precict!

I am interested in advertising on the forum. Can someone please refer me to someone who creates css ads that are compliant with the forum rules?
Thank you very much!

1 confirmation is the standard (afaik). Allowing 0 confirmation deposits would certainly be a vulnerability if there are no checks on the tx fee amount etc. like luckyb.it does.
Will try to get in contact with them and see how they do it

Seems like a lot of useful information is missing here!

Pretty damn awesome if real!

Exactly what the title says.
If bitcoin dropped to the price of a dollar (which we hope it never will), what would you do? Buy more and hold, sell? Buy a promising altcoin like ETH?
I personally would buy more bitcoin.
I would buy 1000 bitcoins

Definitely don't think that bitcoin is the solution to America's problems, but it's definitely an interesting technology that is hopefully here to last!

I wonder how there are still some casino's that are able to offer instant play with 0 confirmations? This seems to be something that's fairly easy to exploit and make a huge profit with in a short time. This combined with instant payouts would be quite detrimental for the site.
That's exactly why I wanted to have this discussion and see where the other gaming sites stand!

I could see this happening whem I first read about a particular casino accepting 0 confirmation deposits but thought they would overcome this problem before implement if possible.
I guess the guy who is trying this would sort of be in a race withhimself and the miners. He needs the first low fee transaction to take say 5min minimum to be accepted into a block (probably longer in most cases of small fees) and also try win or loose quick so he knows which transaction to push or double spend.
I would think that most bets these guys are making a high limit on games like roulette so they can bet the lot in one go on something like red/black win bets.
Yes you are 100% correct!

No one wants to help me understand how this works? Always hear about waiting for confirmations but never read how people are able to cancel a transaction? Was thinking this should not be a issue but forgot about people being able to create infinite accounts.
I am not exactly sure how double spending works, but I can assure you that these cheaters have it down to an exact science! Also I believe it's called a "Race Attack" which you can read about here: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Double-spending
