61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [XPM]unofficial jhPrimeminer thread on: August 11, 2013, 05:57:01 PM
Weird stuff... I'm using v6 and the last 3 shares as soon as I find one I get disconnected.

08/11/13 - 16:08:09 - SHARE FOUND !!! (Th#: 2) ---  DIFF: 6.717313 - VAL: 0.100    >6
xpt: Disconnected, auto reconnect in 30 seconds
Sieve/Test ratio: 74.7 / 25.3 %  - New PrimorialMultiplier: 59
Sieve/Test ratio: 100.0 / 0.0 %  - New PrimorialMultiplier: 61
Sieve/Test ratio: 0.0 / 100.0 %  - New PrimorialMultiplier: 59
Sieve/Test ratio: 0.0 / 100.0 %  - New PrimorialMultiplier: 53
Sieve/Test ratio: 0.0 / 100.0 %  - New PrimorialMultiplier: 47
Sieve/Test ratio: 0.0 / 100.0 %  - New PrimorialMultiplier: 43

Anybody saw something similar?

Edit: It keeps happening now all the time, already like 5 times now at least and maybe some more times I didn't saw it.

This same thing was happening to me..IDk whats the deal.. I dont think it has to do with your internet connection.

The pool was getting DoSSed earlier or something.  Seems to have cleared up now.
62  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [XPM]unofficial jhPrimeminer thread on: August 11, 2013, 05:55:30 PM
mumus, is there an IRC chatroom on freenode that people in this thread and use for discussion?

I'm thinking of starting a mining hardware comparison page or something for primecoin.

With my A10-4600m, using the following settings for V6 AVX: -s 200000 -d 16 -t 4
I am managing between 25000-19000 PPS with 9.1 Val/h.. whatever that means.

The strange thing about the performance of my A10, is that i must disable Primorial Multiplier Auto Tunning, or it goes from its start up value of 67 (which is good for this cpu, as far as I can tell), down to 19.. which lowers PPS and Val/h.

Also, the startup tuning seems odd.  At parts of it, i have much higher PPS, but after awhile, it slows down... and its final value always seems to be slower.  Is there anyway we could get flags to disable the auto tuning, and manually program the L1cache value?  Also, another flag to disable Primorial Multiplier Auto Tunning on startup.  It simply doesn't work for my CPU.

I'm not sure what Val/h is, but my Core2 Duo downstairs is getting about the same, with much lower PPS.

If those two accounts on ypool do belong to you mumus, I am interested to hear what hardware you are mining with.

v6 AVX has been a champ for me on this machine.  I've gone from the 1900 PPS i could muster out of HP9, to this 20000 PPS setup, and I somehow managed to mine not 1, but two blocks lastnight!
Personally I rarely on any chat room, with a full time job and 3 kids I just simply can't.
The performance you have is indeed not so good. First the -s 200000 is too low I think. I got poor performance every time I set lower than 500000. I'm usually using 2000000.
Regarding to PPS I rarely using as a reference. First I'm checking the 4ch/h and I'm trying to tune to max. Then based on longer test period I try to go for maxing out 5ch/h or 6ch/h, depending how fast is the computer. on a slow machine 6ch/h  must be measured for too long time to overcome the random factor.
The startup tuning works well with higher sieve size and higher SievePercentage. No wonder that it's odd for -s 200000 -d 16.
Those two accounts you mentioned (unfortunately) doesn't belongs to me as I also write in one of my previous post. Regarding to hardware I use i7 3770 for development and I've just started some testing on AMD Opteron 4180 which meantime doesn't performs so well. I expected much more per core.
Right now I'm working on a new release with some of the features that you requested and I'll publish the code but I don't want to build the binaries yet. Some more testing needs to be done.

Thanks for getting back to me.  I benchmarked my A10-4600m at various points, but the fastest i have managed 4ch was at the above settings.

A few examples:

-s 200000 -d 16 -t 4:
Val/h 3.283 - PPS: 23282 - 4ch/h: 1786.01 - 5ch/h: 140.29 - 6ch/h: 12.93 - Last 4ch/h: 1346.97 - Last 5ch/h: 0.00

That was an extended length of time, almost a day, after a few hours (restarted), i can manage more along the lines of 2100 4ch/h.. so, I am not sure if its variance, or a leak causing a slow down.  v6 AVX offers me a rather large performance gain over v5 with the same settings (unsure why).

If I enable Primorial Multiplier Auto Tunning with that serv and -d setting, then my performance drops of drasticly:
Sieve/Test ratio: 85.7 / 14.3 %  - New PrimorialMultiplier: 37 (this is about where it settles to tune in at)

Val/h 0.000 - PPS: 11012 - 4ch/h: 1725.09 - 5ch/h: 175.43 - 6ch/h: 0.00 - Last 4 ch/h: 897.87 - Last 5ch/h: 0.00

Sometimes my PPS will drop as low as 800 or worse, and my shares per round dip to almost nothing.  My CoreDuo is beating at my A10 in those instances!?

-s 1200000 -d 16 -t 4:

Primorial Multiplier Auto Tunning Disabled:
Val/h 0.861 - PPS: 10702 - 4ch/h: 1308.35 - 5ch/h: 94.68 - 6ch/h: 8.61 - Last 4ch/h: 0.00 - Last 5ch/h: 448.99

That rate wasn't a quick benchmark either.  I let it run for almost 45mins. T_T

Primorial Multiplier Auto Tunning enabled:
Sieve/Test ratio: 85.4 / 14.6 %  - New PrimorialMultiplier: 67
Val/h 0.589 - PPS: 7439 - 4ch/h: 1355.81 - 5ch/h: 106.11 - 6ch/h: 5.89 - Last 4ch/h: 448.99 - Last 5ch/h: 0.00

Once again, things get worse with this enabled.  Bulldozer+ cores must be a bitch to tune with these settings.  Can AVX be compiled and optimized for AMD in your binaries, or is Intel simply getting better optimizations at the compiler level?  I know this is a laptop cpu, but something seems off (I did check, I'm not running any power saving features.  I'll do some checking against v5 and v6 non-AVX tomorrow (I haven't tired v6 non-AVX).

Several users complaining stratum is down on IRC, I can't connect myself.  Pool's hash rate is dropping in stats.
65  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Which USB hub to use with Block Erupters or K1? A List. on: July 31, 2013, 08:41:26 AM
Is there anyway that you could modify the master chart to add Raspberry Pi compatibility?  It'd be nice to simply look at a glance to see if a particular hub will work with Raspberry Pi.

As an off topic note, I think its time for a newer Raspberry Pi with USB3! lol
66  Other / MultiBit / Cannot install Multibit, two possible reasons... on: July 03, 2013, 12:53:38 PM
I attempt to install MultiBit and the installers always gives me an error: Java has not been found on your computer.  Do you want to download it?

The problem, Java is installed on my computer.

I see two possible reasons for this issue:
1) Multibit is not compatible with 64-bit Java (unlikely as 32-bit Java produces the same error.
2) My Windows 8 installation is installed on drive G:, and the MultiBit installer is looking for an exact location on of Java on drive C:, instead of %system% or %programfiles%, or even the registery.

I hope we can figure out how to resolve this, as I'd love to try MultiBit, and have been stuck with this problem since I attempted to use version 0.4.23 (0.5.12 still has this issue).  If there is a way to skip the Java check and force install it, I'd love to know how.

*edit*
Okay, so by reading around in another thread in this sub-forum, I found the .jar file and it works flawlessly.  I'm leaning almost exclusively in #2's direction.
67  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Galaxy Mining Pool on: July 02, 2013, 06:02:06 PM
So quiet in this thread.  We need some people to check us out! Wink  Got a good back end so far.

Any feature request, ideas or input are much appreciated.
68  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Ann] US based Avalon ASIC chips and assembly: 715 remaining on: June 29, 2013, 11:04:01 AM
Would it be a problem if I ordered the chips now, and then later upgraded to a Fully assembled unit?
69  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [8500 GH/s] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + UserDiff; ASIC tested on: May 31, 2013, 03:58:33 PM
yeah, seems the same for most of us.. it happened near the end of that last block.

Stat's server is reporting that the network hash rate has been steady.

This is just plain weird.  Another 4 people stopped in the chat room with same problem. Since my last post.

Are the stratum servers down?  Several people in the chat room (myself included) can no longer reconnect.  I also tried flushing my DNS tables too.

Getwork fails too.

slush has been notified, from what I understand.

Heya slush, several users are popping into IRC, stating that Confirmed/unconfirmed stats are not updating yet.  I don't know if this is a known issue, but I am seeing it on my own stat's page too.  Only estimated stats for current round looks to be working correctly.

Oh yeah, FAQBot poofed again.
73  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [8500 GH/s] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + UserDiff; ASIC tested on: April 22, 2013, 09:17:11 AM
I resolved my wallet issues from a few pages ago.

The next question coming out of the IRC chat room is, will FAQBot return?  He's been gone since the DoSSes happened, and we miss our notifications of a new block being found. Smiley
74  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [8500 GH/s] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + UserDiff; ASIC tested on: April 21, 2013, 06:21:26 PM
Several of us are wondering about why the payouts on block 17605 went down so low.  Many of us are down 25x. :/

Every one should flush their DNS files to make sure we are being directed to the correct servers. ( lycos search/momma/yahoo/google it if you don't know how )

On a side note to all of this, had to kill ALL my bitcoin wallet dat files due to a corrupted block.
I'm on windows so it's user dir\%user&\aplication data\bitcoin and killed it all and dropped in the wallet.dat file i saved last night ( got a whole 0.0101 BTC so figured after all this time i better start backing it up! )
I am not sure if this is an issue on other peoples's systems or if it will affect mining, just it's weird that my system ran in to it and thought i'd pass on THAT it happened in the last 10 hours from when I posted this. ( -8 GMT, 10 AM here )
It is not fun having the wallet suddenly not work.  I also turned the monitor on to see " Update.exe " had a fatal exemption error....
I use spybot, ThreatFire and Process Explorer to keep anything off the system to max my hash rate ( unelss i need to open Firefox with NoScript ) so what ever that program was, I didn't start it and no, i do not use any automated anything other than the miner.

After the DDoS attacks that have been around BitCoin lately and posts on the forums about others ' having all their bitcoins hijacked ', I, for one, am willing to set my security to paranoid level.

That's weird, I had the same thing happen to me.  I had to remove wallet.dat (starting a new one) and the db recovered on its own.  I'll have to see about recovering my wallet.dat, but the strange thing is my machine was shut down all weekend. O_o

I'm pulling a massive 60Mh/s on my A10-4600m. Cheesy

Oh wait D:

Since I'm at my buddies house, I'll collect a bit at 460Mh/s off of his 7950.

I think I may buy an ASCI though.
76  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Introduce yourself :) on: March 02, 2013, 11:20:33 AM
I was interested in Bitcoin awhile ago, but the time I started was about the same time of the first market crash back in 2011 (woops!).  I am now back, now that I see the community is moving toward a more secure and brighter future.  I will likely purchase an ASCI even though it may be a bit of a risk, I don't see a possible investment loss as very risky vs. the possibility of gains.  Even if the value of bitcoin's drops in half over the next few months, it still seems like an interesting thing to try.

It might also be useful to include a few links to the "newb thread" in strategic locations.  Point it out in the confirmation email, perhaps have the registration confirmation forward the user to the newb thread so they can get informed right away, or maybe also include a link in the confirmation description.  You might also be able to figure a way to have the thread posted as an announcement only to newbie members at the top of every forum.

I know that these things may take a bit of doing (boy do I know!), but any of these would save time and hassle.

I have been using Bitcoin-QT, but I want to try Multibit.  However, I am having issues getting it installed.  I have been spending the last 4 days trying to get Bitcoin-QT to synchronize!

I really wanted to ask a simple question about multibit, but I do understand why you have this kind of protection on the forum. Smiley
