61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Silk Network: Silk(SLK), DarkSilk(DSLK) and Weaver on: October 16, 2016, 03:20:36 AM
After conversing with CoinMarketCap it has come to light that their figures are in fact correct.

The marketcap displayed for Silk is using the available unlocked (non-staking or unreserved) coins multiplied by the cost per coin.

This shows that 27,634,081 SILK(SLK) are being cradled and protected either in "Reserve" or "Staking" and 16,427,797 SILK(SLK) are not locked or reserved and also not staking.

Excellent to see that a large percentage of holders are in for the long term and happily staking and reserving coin.

It's not because it's entirely premined?  Is this 16 million not how much was swapped so far? Where can I find the accounting for the Weaver swaps? Like how many coins have been swapped, address of premine wallet etc?

All of this information will be released.

Finding the originating address of the 44,000,000 Silk is not difficult.

Head to the block explorer and locate block 1 and go from there.

This is the benefit to a publicly accessible ledger.

Go on then, change the name. Darkcoin did it, others did it already. The Market has short memory so this will not even be remembered one day. That's a pity though: I personally started to like the camel.

Yes the market has short memory people will forget about silkroaddrugs.

silkroad was also involved in selling murder for hire and human trafficking, not just illegal drugs.  I like the camel and silk/desert theme but, with a movie being made, it will take some time to forget. Who want to live with that stain for years?  It was difficult for me to argue to keep the name when I constantly need to explain that this project has nothing to do with the darknet and/or illegal markets.  It is bad for business.

The names have been decided upon and the company name, project, coins and platform will be rebranded/renamed.

The direction and focus of the project are held up with the new presentation/appearence of the new branding/names.

The final logos are being created currently and paperwork will be released, followed by a new site/domain and the eventual rebranding finishing in 2017.

Hello,

I would like to invest some bits into Silk ICO. Is there a minimum limit to invest??

The 5% bonus for BTC investment ends in 4.5 hours and week 4 starts.

Week 4 hasn't got any bonus. The time to invest is right now.

guys.. i had just come to notice that Darksilk is going to be a stable coin...
so in this term "Stable": is it stable as it wont be volatile? or stable as it will be fix in certain price?

And also... if i send darksilk without the weaver application.. will it still in "stealth mode" because.. i read : in other to get the stealth function, we need to pay for monthly subscription.

Indeed, non-volatile and stabilised, but not fixed/capped.

The standalone DarkSilk wallet will have the ability to utilise "Stealth Addresses".

thx for the quick reply...
i had another question...

there will be 90 million darksilk in total supply...
while only 4million darksilk is instamined where 1.528.000 came from the ICO...

soo.. where rest 86million darksilk came from?
ty

Your confusing total supply ever to be produced with available supply in circulation.

whoa, that IS a big one.

tho it's totally understandable the reasoning, silk is what it is, if it were family feud the top answer would be "road", it's what people associate right away :/

in that regards, will you offer those who maybe RESPECTFULLY choose NOT to pursue their investments due to this rather large change a full refund b4 ICO end?

Best Wishes, as far as i'm concerned a camel moving forward by any other name....

Grin

We believe that people who have invested into the ICO have invested into the team and overall vision and not the name itself. The ICO investment and what it delivers, will be delivered upon.

DarkSilk will launch on November 5th, Stormnodes will be available, markets will open and everything will go ahead as normal.

The rebrand is planned out thoroughly and with a lot of control and professional management. Marketing for the new project will begin and information released well before the wallets, platform and websites undergo any namechange.

IMPORTANT NEWS - 15th Oct 2016

After the work completed on Silk, DarkSilk and Weaver over the course of the last two years, it has become apparent that no matter the quality of our codebase, technology or team, the bad connotations tied to the name Silk and the image of the camel are hugely detrimental and are simply holding any progression from happening in the business world or with other projects.

Many businesses and investors have shown a real interest in the vision and aims of the team and the possibilities we have presented them with the two independent blockchains and platform, however, when the word Silk is mentioned the deal is off and they no longer wish to invest or show further interest due to the fear of having their reputation or company associated with the name.

To advance this project and complete business deals, partnerships and attain contracts to provide blockchain solutions, it is required there is a rebrand to match the professional and focused direction the team wishes to take this project.

We as a team believe the community would want to see this two-coin system succeed and have invested into this project not just for the name it holds, but the team behind the project itself.

The original technology promised will remain with just one change to the decentralised marketplace, it is not being removed but being adapted to function within the focused direction we are heading, Stormnodes will be available and the ICO will also payout as promised.

Wow!!! Big one
Pity
I used to love the camel, but in our world trust is everything
If the "Silk" name draws back the whole project then we should move on
Any thoughts on the rebrand thing?

The entire project has been already constructed with the rebranding and appropriate names.

The new branding is public and approachable and most importantly, it's about the project as a whole, as a complete package.

This will not require a base58 address change nor hardfork and both coins will still have names that begin with the letters S and D.

The vision that we have and the solutions we want to solve using blockchain technologies cannot be done with the name we currently have.

Investors are interested in our algo, methodology, incentivised nodes, DAO platform, Weaver, stability and privacy/anon functions.

But there are bigger plans and solutions we have which simply will not be invested into with the current name. This will be the main focus of the rebranded project name, to pursue these said solutions.

Maybe send Poloniex an email. Since Silk is being delisted that is.

Silkcoin(SILK) is being delisted and we have messaged them, without reply.

We no longer support Silkcoin(SILK) and simply offer a swap 1:1 from the old Silkcoin(SILK) to the new Silk(SLK).

All further communication will be carried through the user SilkNetwork.

Please message the user SilkNetwork for questions aimed at the Silk Network and these will be relayed through to the relevant department.

So this is a relaunch of another coin? But I also see on the website that something like 69 BTC have been invested. Does that mean those who invest will share the coins with the holder of the other coin?

69 BTC and 1,800,000 SLK has been invested into DSLK.
DSLK is a new coin that will co-exist with SLK.

SLK has been relaunched.
DSLK has yet to be launched.
These chains will both be autonomous.

I'm glad that more than 69 BTC have been invested, so feel better for the people behind the project. How much are those 1.8 SLK worth in BTC?

~28BTC at current market value, however, these won't be sold for development funds.

Some will be paid to developers etc. within the team whom will, hold and stake, maybe trade small amounts, but never dump Wink

The rest will be held in the Silk Network treasury wallet as the asset they are.

And how much BTC would be a good amount for the team to raise for them to continue developing comfortably?

With a team of 8 (not all contributing the same amount of work), work done and work to do being taken into account, ideally the 5 developers should receive a fair wage for what they have completed and have to do.

Matthew, Spencer, Greg are full-time and Amir & Ahmad are part-time developers. Mark and Romeo works full-time on the project. Jan produced the graphics.

On top of the development costs, are the server costs, domain costs and the cost of instances for Stormnode hosting.

All in all, an ideal figure would of been around 700BTC, however at the rate of the ICO and the time left, we are looking at hitting between 100-150BTC.

Chime, which is a major private healthcare consortium is holding a $1,000,000 contest to find a solution that can be scalable and match Patient ID's across varied healthcare systems in the USA.

Amir Abrams of Silk Network alongside Mark Schroeder and Hans Michel, have designed a solution using healthcare industry standards, the blockchain and the decentralised DNS of Silk(SLK) to solve this issue and provide a solution.

The solution proposed uses the blockchain of Silk(SLK) for trust relationships, whilst the decentralised DNS is used to match the registry of the patient ID record with the 'clearnet' domain names equivalent record. Using different nodes carrying out different functions on the network, the system matches these hashes/patient ID's across the different healthcare systems on the 'clearnet' domains, which in-turn, drastically reduces failure rates of 20% or higher, reduces administrative waste and the loss of billions of dollars.

This solution won the initial round and is now in the final round. Upon winning this contest it will be utilised by multiple healthcare providers such as hospitals and clinics, with the state of Louisiana acting as the first testbed before branching out nationally and then internationally.

Other entries in the competition are centralised systems, unlike the system proposed by Amir Abrams.

For investors in Silk(SLK), bear in mind that every DNS entry has a cost dependent on the length of time it is registered for. With ~330,000,000 people in the USA alone, this would generate a lot of DNS entries. The possibilities of this are obvious once a step back is taken.

This is the rising of the Phoenix that is Silk(SLK).

The ICO/Crowdsale is for the continued development and previous development done to Silk Network, Silk, DarkSilk and Weaver.

The investment heralds a DarkSilk return, which in-turn can be used to create Stormnode(s) that heed a 37.7% ROI.

There is a lot of information worth reading in the OP and all links can also be found at the bottom of the OP.

DarkSilk launches November 5th 2016.

I am not to terribly concerned as the devs have been on point so far, but when you send SLK to the WEAVER SLK ICO address how long does it take before it populates yours current contribution? 25 confirmations....

This is handled manually by Matthew Langdon, as are all the tx's on Weaver currently.

Automated scripts will be enabled after the ICO and this is only being done to ensure that funds are correctly allocated to the corresponding user that sent them.

If you see the transaction confirmed on the blockchain and it matches the address in Weaver, rest assured, they're there.
