i use the online wallet and im happy with it
I never have and never will trust online wallets with large amounts of currency. Still waiting on that official gui wallet to be released... The web client is local in terms of your wallet. It's not an account service, so you it's just using your browser as a GUI.

Win x64 wallet from git is broken. No file extensions in the zip file. Unless I am totally missing something,
If you're talking about this link, that has been verified by the devs to work. Make sure you run the software from a command prompt.

Whats up with this coin? Wallet links don't even work.
Which links are you referring to? All the infrastructure is up on this end. The only scheduled downtime is for the forum later today: The forum infrastructure will be upgraded on March 23rd, 2016. Expected downtime is from 09:00 PM to 11:00 PM CST. Apologies for the inconvenience this may cause.

When I try to send from one wallet to another: -32603 Insufficient funds.. transaction requires X coins... even though I have enough overall in the wallet Is it a matter of having to use sendfrom ? Shouldn't it take from the default acc. ? Anyone had this issue ? I found it here: https://github.com/decred/dcrwallet/issues/22How is it resolved? I'm using 0.0.7. ... was this resolved in 0.0.8 ? Restore your wallet from seed in v0.0.8 (make a backup first). You may need to run the consolidate command: Dust can be taken care of by the new consolidate command: 'dcrctl --wallet consolidate 99999 default'. This will condense all small outputs into one large output. In the next version, the correction of fees for transaction should keep this issue from ever coming up again.

web wallet is down again
Sysadmin is working on it now. I'll update here once it's fixed. Everything else is up and functioning. Stake pool's back-end stayed up during the power infrastructure maintenance at the provider, so no votes were missed. My understanding is it happens once every 5 years, so it was a big event. However, there will be more failover put in place to mitigate these situations as best as possible.

All normal web services have resumed Only the stats page on the stake pool is inaccessible at present. The stake pool still needs some ironing out, but after the initial hiccups, it's doing well. More stake pools will be brought up as several interested and experienced parties have stepped forward after the call to action went out. There will be an RFP for this process too - so that compensation can be awarded for hosting an maintaining a stake pool. At least until fees are integrated and stake pools can become self-sustaining. Will investigate what happened at the colocation and see the best way to mitigate future issues with downtime. It's certainly unusual and not a regular occurrence - albeit annoying.

Just got off of IRC about the webpage outage. Here is the answer. "The data center is doing physical maintenance (power related). So, all of the front stuff (websites) hosted on them is down." They use a vendor, so it's the vendor's problem, not Decred.
That's correct. It's definitely on the colocation provider's end. Everything in the back-end is working - i.e., the stake pool is voting, but all the front-ends are down.

Great Team, thank you so much for your hard work. I feel that our support(investment) to this coin is guaranteed. As soon as the GUI wallet is launched more users will adopt DECRED and more exchanges will list it.
That means a lot, thank you. Everyone will continue to work hard and improve the software! There's lots to do, but it's all moving forward.

... As of today 2016/3/18 there are left 1720 airdrop addresses unspent. ~42% of Airdrop receivers moved their coins Sorry all, i took a week break from coins but here they are again if there is still need for these.
These are great. I really appreciate them and your effort!

I wanted to put out this call to action to see if anyone with experience is interested in hosting a Decred stake pool in the future. Have a look here and let me know. There is more information in that announcement and some questions for you too. Eventually, you'll be able to earn DCR from it in the same way PoW pool operators do.

A quick update on the situation with the stake pool. An issue in v0.0.6 meant the stake pool's 1-of-2 multisig addresses were getting rejected by mainnet's IsStandard function, which is not used on testnet. This led to every dcrd's mempool rejecting the votes from stake pool - and not being mined. All mining pool operators were contacted immediately and were extremely helpful and cooperative in upgrading to v0.0.7 which resolved the issue. Unfortunately, some miners have not yet upgraded, so some votes are still missed, however, the majority of votes are being mined and increasing steadily.
As the stake pool is operated by c0, PoW miners will be compensated for lost subsidy up to March 11th, 2016 (06:00 AM UTC) and PoS voters will be compensated for all missed votes or until the project is successful in getting miners responsible for these blocks being solved to upgrade to v0.0.7 or later. Compensation will not come from bring-up DCR nor will it come from the development subsidy. DCR will be purchased for the purpose of compensation. Thank you for your patience and understanding. If we continue to work together as a community as we have on this issue, Decred will continue to improve!

Thank you. It's been really great working with the pools. The quick response time and collaborative efforts to date have been impressive.

Suprnova updated since yesterday The pools are great! Just want to make sure it's clear so miners know they can earn more subsidy by upgrading (in essence).
|
|
|
ATTENTION MINERS: Upgrade to Decred v0.0.7 so all vote types are included and you gain the full DCR block subsidy.

Sent you a PM about getting in touch.

Official GUI Wallet?
In development as part of RFP-1. If you need a GUI now, use the web client. You wallet is stored locally. You can also have a look at two user projects here and here.
|
|
|
Stakepool is currently not processing RPC commands so most functionality of the web interface will not work until connections to the RPC server is restored. Wallets are still online and voting.
Thank you for the report. There are some issues with the front-end. The goal is to develop self-healing so that when these issues pop up, they take care of themselves. This will be fixed. Unfortunate that it happens at the worst time (middle of the night for a lot of people).

Is there an (approximate) eta on the GUI wallet?
That's a hard question to answer. Design will commence very soon for the Windows GUI wallet and integration will start after that. It's RFP-1, so it started first. Consultation is happening right now with the accepted proposals, so I will post updates as soon as I have them. It's a new process for the new developers as well, so that takes a bit of time too. It's moving though. Not the answer you're looking for, but that's the situation on the ground - I hope it helps!

Is there a way to generate pubkeyaddr with the web wallet?
Not currently, no. This functionality is covered in RFP-2. The closing date for submissions for that RFP happened today, so there will be traction on that soon as well.

when a solid gui wallet with an easy working-pos will be released?
The Paymetheus code has been open-source for a while. The plan is to start doing binary releases for Paymetheus and run it on testnet. RFP-1 is all about adding some shine and coming up with an optimal UI and UX for the GUI as well - and two proposals were accepted for the task. The first is related to the design and the second is tied to integrating that design using Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), since it's native to Windows. While that's happening, you can look at two user projects that have already created GUIs for Decred. Look here and here. And of course, then there's the web client as well - which uses your browser as a GUI. The wallet is all client-side, so it's not an account service.
