602  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Does 2FA require Android or IOS? on: February 02, 2014, 03:26:00 AM
I think so, the only two I know of are google authenticator and authy.
603  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Recovering Bitcoins with private keys on: February 02, 2014, 01:59:07 AM
Well you might as well start bitcoin-qt running on its own either way, if electrum can't import the private key for some reason you'll want to sweep it in bitcoin-qt
604  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Recovering Bitcoins with private keys on: February 02, 2014, 01:51:18 AM
PS -- whatever you do, don't give your private key to someone who promises to help you redeem it.
605  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Recovering Bitcoins with private keys on: February 02, 2014, 01:15:22 AM
Are you running bitcoin-qt separately or under armory?  Try running it on its own and let it fully sync and then in armory settings tell it you're running bitcoin-qt on your own.  You can also sweep the private key into bitcoin-qt once it syncs.
606  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Recovering Bitcoins with private keys on: February 02, 2014, 12:34:41 AM
I would just fix armory -- what problem is it having?
607  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Recovering Bitcoins with private keys on: February 02, 2014, 12:13:33 AM
Are you sure you extracted the correct private key?  It should work just fine.

What problems are you having with armory?  It's probably easiest to fix those.
608  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Withdrew bitcoin from Virwox to an offline Armory address on: February 01, 2014, 04:42:31 PM
1)  wait for bitcoin-qt to finish

2)  do you have a watching only wallet created?  If not go to your offline armory install and create one.  Copy it over to your online computer.

3)  install armory on your online computer

4)  import the watching only wallet into armory

5)  wait for armory to sync

609  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Building 2nd rig, home electricity limits. A transformer?? BOUNTY=0.02BTC on: February 01, 2014, 04:28:28 PM
You have to look at watts.  If you turn 120 into 240 using a transformer you can only run half the amps not twice.

At the breaker box you get 240V, you have to run it all the way from there.  You'll see single fuses that supply 120V and double fuses that supply 240V.
610  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fee deducted from the transferred amount. Insane. on: February 01, 2014, 02:00:40 AM
Maybe they're using some mixer to be anonymous and aren't taking the fee into account.
611  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Address you send money too does not exist. on: January 31, 2014, 06:59:39 PM
If bitcoind and bitcoin-qt didn't check to see if you tried to send to an invalid address, could you send the bitcoins to it?

No, I doubt anyone would relay a transaction to an invalid address.  Try sending 1 BTC to the address "bob", it just doesn't work.
612  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Transaction fees? on: January 31, 2014, 06:56:14 PM
Oh sorry.  It obviously varies by alt coin. Ask the developer or just look in the source code.
613  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Transaction fees? on: January 31, 2014, 06:35:07 PM
I think it's just a flat 0.0001 now unless it's at least 1 day old 1 btc:  https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Transaction_fees
You can look in the source code too
614  Economy / Services / Re: Up to 0.01 BTC weekly for YOUR SIGNATURE on: January 31, 2014, 06:31:43 PM
That was fast, paid pretty much instantly.  So I only need to post 50 times in a month?  I can handle that.
615  Economy / Services / Re: Up to 0.01 BTC weekly for YOUR SIGNATURE on: January 31, 2014, 06:28:50 PM
Alright if it's automated I'll give it a try
616  Economy / Marketplace / Re: I have 10 BTC. I want to invest! but where? on: January 31, 2014, 06:21:31 PM
Invest in the time to learn to setup proper cold storage then send all your BTC there.
617  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Brag: mined enough to pay my rent this month on: January 31, 2014, 04:19:43 PM
How many months rent did it cost you to mine 2 months worth?
618  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Blockchain.info can't spend due to unconfirmed transaction on: January 31, 2014, 04:18:14 PM
OK, I'll wait it out.

I am also looking at this from a merchant perspective, the practicality of accepting bitcoin for in-store customers. I can't have a customer wait around for hours for confirmations. They could leave my store with my merchandise, and keep thier money, all by sending me a 0 fees with their transaction. I would have no way of forcing a fee on their wallet.

Most purchases are large enough that they will get confirmed with no fee, but buying a stick of gum at 7-11 is vulnerable.  Either way you really should use a payment processor because you want dollars instead of btc.
619  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is Cex.io a scam? on: January 31, 2014, 01:24:18 AM
Why would they sell at a rate that was less than they would make if they just mined themselves?
620  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do free faucets pay ? on: January 30, 2014, 11:53:31 PM
Just buy $10 worth of bitcoins and save yourself 6 months of work.
