It's invalid. Check other bids bigger than yours.

Thanks, I didn't pay enough attention.

<shameless plug>

If you're selling because you don't see these machines being profitable any longer, perhaps all you really need to do is switch hosting providers. That DC in Seattle looks pretty pricey. We can offer rates as low as $70/kW/month, or about $0.096/kWh. Also, SP10s tend to perform better in our datacenter because of our wind tunnel cooling and 254V supply voltage.

Just a thought.

There's a link under Rawdog's name on the left on each one of his posts. It says "Ignore". Everybody, please click that. It's hard to have a conversation when you guys keep filling it up with replies to Rawdog's obvious trolling.
605  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: August 19, 2014, 03:45:33 AM
this scheme needs some qualification. For example, what if I pay for three months upfront and then, after a month or two, have to do a RMA back to Spondoolies. What would happen in this case?

Our policy is to charge 50% for reserving the space for you whether or not you actually use it, and 50% for actually using the power. If you buy 3 months of hosting and tell us your machine will arrive on September 20th, but you had the bad luck to have purchased from (e.g.) Black Arrow, and they tell you (and you tell us) "next week" until November 20th (2 months later), then you would have 2 months of hosting left.

We are ordering spare PSUs for SP10s and SP30s, so if the issue is PSU-related, we'll swap your PSU(s) out with our spares and RMA the faulty ones, and have you up and running in about a day. If it's an issue with the miner itself, then you'll have to wait for the RMA to return, and will only pay 50% hosting fees for the duration, unless I take pity on you and waive the 50% space reservation charge.

Are you guys going to wait with shipping of our August batch by 28th of August?

You mean the August group buy? That was one of the final batches sold in August. Shortly after the group buy closed, Spondoolies switched over to taking orders for September. Many of the other August orders have already shipped.
607  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: August 18, 2014, 10:49:11 PM
What is the hosting cost for a september SP30?

In my DC, an SP30 (3 kW) costs a different amount depending on what term you pay for upfront:

Term_durationMonthly rate    Total
1 month $270$270
3 months$249$747
6 months$228$1368
12 months$210$2520

No setup fees, no VAT.

In the Spondoolies DC, rates are $500 per month or $1200 for 3 months.

You can find other hosting options in the hosting directory and reputation thread here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=622998
608  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: August 17, 2014, 05:27:30 PM
I have spoken with Guy, Collider, and Roadstress on Skype. They're different people.

It might be worth mentioning that the August batches were open for quite a while before the August Group Buy, and the August batches closed shortly after the August Group Buy closed. This suggests that the August group buy orders are near the end of the August shipment queue, and should be expected to ship near the end of August. Many people who ordered SP30s before the August Group Buy have already received their miners. I know this because I have several of their SP30s in my datacenter.

Is 208V the closest you'll get if you have a 3 phase supply? You ever get any problems with other components?

I'm on a 3-phase supply, and our machines are getting 254V right now. Yesterday and the day before, they were getting 259V-263V, but I decided that was a little too close to the limit of what the PSUs are rated for, so we turned it down a notch.

It depends on what kind of transformers you buy, and what electricians you employ. Many transformers have taps you can use to adjust voltages. Many electricians will only let you use the taps to produce voltages as close to what's written on the transformer nameplate as possible.

For those of you who don't understand semiconductors: You do not get multi lots and multiple wafers of an "EXTREMELY SLOW CORNER." Stop letting Guy take advantage of your lack of knowledge. Given the orders which they have in the pipe and what they have communicated, I would guess there are AT LEAST 12 lots (25 wafers per lot) in the pipe. You do NOT get 12 lots processed systematically to a slow corner unless you deliberately asked for it.

You're welcome

Your argument is essentially that TSMC might have poor precision, but they wouldn't have poor accuracy. Your argument is that TSMC would not have made a systematic error in their production process. I think it is quite plausible that TSMC might have had one of their machines poorly calibrated for the low voltage threshold transistor type that is so important for bitcoin mining ASICs, but less important for most other applications.

By the way, is that username chosen to deliberately troll people?
611  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: H/w Hosting Directory & Reputation on: August 14, 2014, 11:57:34 PM
and you may have real problems getting your equipment past angry landlords if they have gone under owning money.

Indeed, this happened to me. I was hosting one SP10 and one Cointerra with a company in Oregon, and they ran into financial difficulties and couldn't pay their landlord. After they defaulted on rent and electricity, their landlord locked them out of their warehouse, and wouldn't allow them to return my equipment to me. I called the landlord directly, but he couldn't legally allow me access to their space either. I ended up paying them a few hundred dollars over what I owed them to help them get me my machines back. It was practically extortion. Not fun.

They had a good insurance policy. I don't think it covered bankruptcy due to mismanagement. I guess I forgot to ask.

(For what it's worth, we paid our landlords 6 months' rent in advance.)

208 is a bit low, and might have some small performance impact (~2%) - it really depends on exact voltage.
We will investigate next week to see if we can improve that.

My Units are not showing any noticeable impact on 208, Im happy to let you remote in and play with the settings if that will help Smiley

2% is a little difficult to notice.

I think my SP30 might be running a little bit faster now on 260V than when it was doing burn-in in Israel (probably at 230V). The difference looks like about 1-2%, if it's not just my imagination. That might just be due to tweaking or a firmware update, though. I doubt it's due to cooler temperatures, because 93% of my datacenter's cooling equipment is still offline and we're running at 27°C intakes.

One of these days, I'll have to figure out the format for /mnt/mmc-config/rrd/hashrate.rrd so I can actually compute the numbers instead of guesstimating from the graphs...

In other news, the performance of my SP30 seems to vary by roughly 8 GH/s per 1°C difference in intake temperature. Last evening, when intake temps were around 22°C, I was getting around 4530 GH/s out of my SP30, but now, with intake around 28°C, I'm getting around 4485 GH/s. I'm looking forward to summer ending and improving our cooling.
613  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: August 14, 2014, 09:54:24 PM
By the way, here's a little mod to SP10s and SP30s to improve the graphs. This changes the graphs so that they don't start the vertical axis at 0, and instead start it at something close to the lowest hashrate observed by the unit. This makes it much easier to see what's going on in detail.

First, enable SSH access via the WebUI if you haven't already. You'll probably need to create a password. Then:

Code:
ssh root@[your miner's local IP address]
[your password]
vi /etc/cron.d/RECORDHashrate
Next, use the arrow keys to scroll down to around line 60, to the line that says
Code:
        "--lower=0",
and press 'i' (to go into 'insert' mode in vi). Add a # sign at the beginning of the line, so it says
Code:
#        "--lower=0",
and then press ESC (to leave insert mode), then type ':w' and enter (without quotes, to write to disk), then ':q' and enter, and you're done! Graphs should update with the new vertical axis in a few minutes, or you can type
Code:
/etc/cron.d/RECORDHashrate
to make it update immediately. Type "exit" (enter) to quit the SSH session.

With all due respect, I do have some doubts about that program which pushes PSU to the actual limit through repeated shutdowns.
Could it be the culprit? Perhaps, it is better to limit power to 1300 or even 1250W?
It is not worth a few extra GH if it significantly increases the PSU failure rate (for the purposes of argument- I don't know if this is true or not).

I think the algorithm is pretty awesome. I think it would be awesomer if it had a temperature coefficient built in, of course, but it's still pretty great.

I'm an electrical engineer. I've made consumer hardware devices before. Sometimes they fail. Sometimes when they fail, it's a design error. Usually, it's a manufacturing error. I'd say the chances are pretty good that something wasn't soldered properly, or there was a capacitor that blew, or a fan locked up, something like that. My expectation is that about 80% of the failures Spondoolies gets would have happened even at 1250W. I could be wrong, though.
615  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Miner hosting: available NOW with Hashing Plex! on: August 14, 2014, 08:42:02 PM
Forgive me for being skeptical.

How do we know you're not a scam?

Your prices and name sound like a copycat of Hashplex. You shouldn't be able to make a profit with those prices in Florida. (Isn't electricity around $0.10/kWh there? You're advertising hosting for $0.12/kWh. You can pay rent, salaries, insurance, PUE/cooling, and amortized capital costs on only $0.02/kWh?) You are posting as a new account newbie on bitcointalk, which is pretty sketchy if you know anything about the number of scams on Bitcointalk. Those are alarm flags for me that make me extra skeptical.

Conflict of interest note: I run a hosting service too. However, I am not opposed to more hosting services. I am just opposed to scams. I apologize if you are actually a legitimate company, but as it is, you look to me like a scam attempt.

Edit: I notice you're actually an old account that just hasn't posted often enough to get past newbie status.

You need to talk to a local insurance agent. We called several, until we found somebody who spent the time and took a look at our setup. It took him sometime also to find an insurance company willing to do it. Liberty Mutual is it.

Thanks. Would you be willing to give me the name of your insurance agent via PM? We're probably about 1.5 hours away from him, and could pay him travel costs. If you prefer to keep that info private, that's fine too.

By the way, flyonwall, I notice your webpage lists SP30 as being 2.64 kW for 4.5 TH/s. My experience is that they use closer to 3.0 or 2.9 kW. You may want to update your website.

Performance of the SP30s we had in our DC yesterday:

Insurance. The assurances and tours will be for the insurance company's benefit.

Our hardware consists mostly of SP10 with a handful of 30's. Movement of most within 14 days.

Why not have someone establish a relationship now with an insurance company where you are, detail what is what. Once established even if it is necessary a foreign entity like us would consider taking out our own policy with them covering our concerns in your operation provided the rates are reasonable. You would need to establish this; detail what mining is and everything related to it and hosting. Then you could introduce us so that we do not have to explain everything to them including who you are and what it is all about, and review what exactly it is that they could offer and for how much.

It's mostly a matter of me having way too many other things to do and the employees of mine who don't have too many things to do not knowing how to explain things in order to placate the flighty insurers. Part of it also is the fact that we only filed our LLC paperwork last week. Also, most of the insurance companies we've talked to simply refuse to insure datacenters, due to the enormous liabilities involved with data loss. The rest are taking their sweet time getting back to us. It's been a constant struggle to convince them that we don't have any data to lose, and we're just trying to insure the hardware. Trying to explain what bitcoin mining to insurance agencies would be ever so much more difficult. We'll do it soon, but this isn't something that we can accomplish in an hour or two.

We can handle your machines now. Do you have mounting brackets for the SP10s, or will we need to order some more? We only have 9 in stock right now.
619  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: H/w Hosting Directory & Reputation on: August 14, 2014, 04:18:29 PM
We got 50+ units currently running. Who wants to host them?

What insurance do all these new companies have to protect the equipment in case they go under, run off with the equipment etc.?

50 SP30s or SP10s? We could host them all, in either case. Delivery date?

We (Toom.im) don't have insurance yet, but we'll get it soon. I intend to get liability insurance, plus insurance against theft or fire. I've been more focused on getting the datacenter to work than on the business side of things so far. By the way, were you asking literally about insurance, or more generally about assurance?

We're not likely to go bankrupt, as we're backed with a pretty sizeable chunk of change (we may be able to provide you proof of this if you want). We are also unlikely to take your equipment and run, since we're heavily invested into keeping this datacenter running (we have 67 SP30s of our own coming), and we have our names and identities published with respect to this operation. If you can think of any other assurances you'd want from us, name them, and we can try to provide them.

I'll give you (or anyone else) a tour of my DC via Skype (id: jtoomim), Facetime (jtoomim@jtoomim.org).
620  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: H/w Hosting Directory & Reputation on: August 14, 2014, 02:10:51 AM
Toom.im hosting update:

We're online. Our first customer's SP30s arrived two days ago. Our second customer's arrive tomorrow. Our 250V transformer is online. We have approximately 200 kW of unclaimed capacity available immediately.

Our cooling and hot air containment systems aren't completed yet, but we have enough of it online to keep temps around 24°C to 30°C. This should improve significantly over the next few weeks.

We have four SP30s and one SP10 running so far. All of the SP30s are getting over 4.45 TH/s, and the SP10 is getting 1491 GH/s.
