BTC-e flash crash to $370 just now
And this belongs in this thread how?

Get a life collider. Just because you paid silly big bucks for one of the first SP30 machines doesn't make you the arbiter of good taste …

Why don't you go report me to Daddy ?

~L)L~

Yeah, Collider, what are you thinking? Don't you realize *I* am the arbiter of good taste?

But hey, I can't say this guy has bad taste, because that would imply he has taste. He's not tasty.

It is somewhat relevant, though, that BTC has crashed rather heavily. Given what the machines are for. I don't see it as a long term trend, and I doubt that other serious miners do either. Cuz if you look at it, those coins being dumped are NOT just sitting there, and the buy support is immense. Long term, it's likely a speed bump. Short term, it might discourage some of the higher powered miners, dropping the diff or slowing it's rise down, and give you guys a better shot at positive ROI.

I had a similar issue with an sp10 today.

It was mining for over 3 months (and about 2 months at that datacenter) and got stuck somehow.

After the DC power cycled it, everything is working as usual.

This hasn´t ever happened with that miner in over 3 months, so I guess a small crash once in a while is no big problem (your desktop PC probably crashes more often than that, and it isn´t on 24/7).

Lol KnC doesn´t even provide a reference design for those chips.

I wonder who will buy them and spend money on building a PCB and drivers, to get a 1.2W/GH miner.
(Price was quoted for Neptunes including PSU.)

Better just buy AM BE200 chips, reference design is free, power consumption is lower.

Why not some October Rockerbox chips? Or wait for the Pickaxe?

Pretty cheap those KNC chips might be a few people willing to push boards out the door considering the price is very low. Again gotta board ready to drop them in?

Does your project have one?

Nope. You'd have to have a good reason to work with that chip given the issues KNC had with it.

Edit: One more Koont to ignore.

Also, we know Bick's projects will never see the light of day so of course they dont have one.

Somehow, I was 100% sure today they'd announce beginning shipments of the RoadStress GroupBuy.  Since they didn't, I am pretty convinced this is going to be just like KnC where they ship a few - and then take forever to try to fix all the disasters before shipping the rest.

I am happier each day that I didn't get caught up in this mess.  At least these guys learn from their mistakes and we'll see much improvement on the SP50.  I am saving up for those now.

Hard-reset brought my SP10 back to life. Thanks Collider and Zvisha for help.

@Zvi: Do you think I have to worry about my miner, or this just happens sometimes?

Thanks again guys, appreciated!

Nothing to worry about. Stuck I2C is something that I have seen happening in our DC every now and then, considering that we have many miners I guess that it happens about once/twice a year per miner. Always resolved by a power cycle, that why that is the first thing I recommended.

Pre-orders prolly won't start for at least another two weeks. They won't tell me precisely.

They probably figure they need to clear out the Rockerbox stuff first. I'm looking for better prices on SP30 machines soon. On the other hand, how cheap would they have to be to ROI now with BTC at these prices ?

NVM, just kidding. I heard that BTC was going to spike to USD 10K before Xmas ...

I have a groupbuy sp30 myself and I haven´t bothered asking, as I know the unit will ship when it is produced and ready to go.

I've taken the same view, ordered a couple through the GB ... I trust Sponds on their delivery schedule ...(My previous orders from them were on time) but I have to say ... every now and then ... my cerebral cortex says ... I would like to know  Grin

What is the hosting cost for a september SP30?

In my DC, an SP30 (3 kW) costs a different amount depending on what term you pay for upfront:

Term_durationMonthly rate    Total
1 month $270$270
3 months$249$747
6 months$228$1368
12 months$210$2520

No setup fees, no VAT.

In the Spondoolies DC, rates are $500 per month or $1200 for 3 months.

You mean the August group buy? That was one of the final batches sold in August. Shortly after the group buy closed, Spondoolies switched over to taking orders for September. Many of the other August orders have already shipped.

What mess is this you are talking about? I don't know why you were 100% sure they'd announce something today, there's still two weeks left of August. Relax.

This is not how I remember it. The way i remember it, some time AFTER group buy closed, BTC started an upward surge and because of this the rest of August machines sold out faster than usual.

this scheme needs some qualification. For example, what if I pay for three months upfront and then, after a month or two, have to do a RMA back to Spondoolies. What would happen in this case?

As I understand, you reserved your spot for 3 months Smiley up front. If you don't use it, or not sure, buy monthly packages. If in a month, you used it ONE day .. it's part of that month. That is, if the reason you RMA it is independent of the hosting conditions. If they damage the equipment due to racking / electrical shock .. that's other discussion.

I suppose you sign a hosting contract. If you don't .. please note that you should.

Definitely, I'm getting old or where I go is too much negotiation for everything and anything. Ages ago you were supposed to buy what was in the store. Take it or leave it prices.
