But service operator can just reject requests made with this ID (i.e. block all users who have enabled it in the browser).
That's just plain silliness.  A service and its potential users can eternally play this game of technological whack-a-mole but to what end?  Eventually there would be no users of the service.

Now you can create a Firefox add-on that randomizes the fingerprint instead of making them all the same.  Or even better, create plausible counterfit fingerprints.

What's next?
602  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Combating cheating by analyzing browser fingerprints on: August 30, 2012, 12:06:28 AM
A custom browser or stripped-down variant of Firefox could be put together that gives away nothing.

Besides, why would someone in BTC want to combat anonymity?  Get burned by pirate?

What's an illegal web site?  I didn't know they existed.

At last.  Maybe people will start wising up and being more careful with their money now that there's no legal recourse for their stupidity.

NOT

To make an omelette you have to break some eggs.

For some reason I'm getting high reject rate on US2, 1.1% over the past couple of days. US1 however, has been almost 0.
I run rotate every 20mins between a few pools.

I saw the same thing so I switched to us1 and it went away.

Does your bitcoin client look like this?  Note the settings->encrypt.

True libertardians support privatization of everything, including the air you breathe. Everything else is socialism.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH.

I see we have some non-Libertarians in the thread who think there should be publicly maintained roads, etc.  Grin
611  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.21] on: August 28, 2012, 02:02:29 PM
I get the same output with

Code:
oclvanitygen.exe -d 0 -i 1Test

He's not the only one with the issue.

Here's my (working) command line on Windows:

oclvanitygen.exe -d0 "1abcd"
612  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.21] on: August 28, 2012, 10:49:23 AM
I tried oclvanitygen today, and discovered that it produces output like the following, instead of private keys.

Code:
Match idx: 0
CPU hash: 93b30d0ad99f8133a0bc3c4793a27dbad5a0961f
GPU hash: 0a0db39333819fd9473cbca0ba7da2931f96a0d5
Found delta: 1919 Start delta: 1

Am I doing it wrong?

What's your command line?

On what server?

US1

The pool seems a bit wonky today.  All 3 mining portals (us1, us2 and us3) were experiencing outages intermittently over the last coupla hours.

I run on us2 and my reject rate is always < 1%.  For instance today it's 0.2%

If you CPU mined a Pi you'd get hash rates in the kilo hash/sec; not worth the effort.

As a controller for an FPGA-based miner it makes sense for dedicated rigs.  They're dirt cheap at $35 a pop.
619  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Crazy project or not ? on: August 23, 2012, 01:03:42 PM
Actually the guy's web site doesn't say he's mining *directly* (i.e. CPU mining) but rather he's using the Pi to control a BitForce Single or ZTEX FPGA board.
This sort of arrangement makes sense for a dedicated mining rig since using a PC is overkill.
620  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Crazy project or not ? on: August 23, 2012, 12:56:29 PM
It's not crazy but it's silly.

Like many people who ordered Raspberry Pi boards, he fell in love with it and is constantly looking for uses for it.
