601  Economy / Services / Re: Website for only 1 BTC on: March 11, 2013, 07:36:34 PM
Good god, what is this?

Turquoise font on pale blue background.

Login data sent via http as plaintext.

Internal image links are broken.

Banner and Navigation elements are defined on every page instead of pulled from a central repository. A supporting nightmare.

No content management in place for front page content boxes. Everything has to be built manually. Supporting nightmare.

Dont' even get me started on the table background colour choice.

This is website design circa 1999.

The font and table are arguably bad design. The rest of the problems you describe are because the site, as you apparently haven't noticed, isn't actually running yet.  No login data whatsoever is sent, the image was removed or doesn't have correct permissions (not sure which), and content management is likely going to be added later.
602  Other / Off-topic / Re: PGP? on: March 11, 2013, 05:00:35 PM
I understand encryption, I'm just wondering how it works posting it on the forums. Is it basically just a type of public key encryption, the public key is provided, and is used to verify the characters given?
603  Other / Off-topic / PGP? on: March 11, 2013, 12:13:12 PM
I've been seeing lots of messages with PGP since I started on here, and I've been wondering exactly how it works. Is it basically a hash of the message, using the PGP key as a salt? Is there some kind of "how PGP works" article that explains this well?

Also, what exactly is the point of using PGP on the forum? If someone were to change your message, couldn't they also change the signature? Or do you have a private key, too?
604  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: As we hoard our coins, what would REALLY make you spend them? on: March 11, 2013, 11:44:31 AM
The problem is that because Bitcoin changes frequently, every place that accepts them has to give you a horrible deal in case Bitcoin falls to $0.07 the minute they accept it. When it stabilizes a reasonable amount, it will become more practical to accept, and therefore more practical to spend.
605  Economy / Services / Re: GOXKEYGEN - daily free bitcoins on: March 11, 2013, 11:32:53 AM
Verified. Added 0.00002829 BTC to MTGox account.

There are sites that pay out .1 mBTC, multiple times a day, with less annoying ads. Nearly everyone has at some point, but you should never initiate a transaction worth less than $0.01
606  Economy / Goods / Re: Buying fiber arrows (carbon or glass) on: March 11, 2013, 04:16:25 AM
Why not buy them there? Shipping to South America? That probably costs as much as the arrows themselves. Especially since they'll likely be used if you buy them on a forum, why not just find a store somewhere near you?

You would be amazed the taxes down here...
Most of the time its easier to pay for a product outside and pay shipping.
The brazilian government made taxing the country an art.

Let's say someone's got a lightly used set of arrows for $40, $60 new. According to a shipping calc, US to brazil 2 pounds costs $53.73. Would they really charge you $33.73 on a set of $60 arrows?

I see a couple different fonts, an image, and a rectangle with drop shadow.

Try working on a design for more than 5min chief.

In a minimalist design like this, that's all you really want. It's better to have a few, clean-looking elements that do what you need them to than a Drudge Report-esque pile of ugly lines and such.
Are their any other types of designs you'd like to see, or that you think would be appealing?

I'm sorry but you can't just overlook critical design aspects and then call it "minimalist".

What "critical design aspects"? People are used to seeing a cluttered grid of unnecessary things. Look at any website, and it could be easily rearranged into something like this, with very few elements. It would look much better, be easier to use, and load faster.

Can you tell me exactly what that design is missing, and why what's "missing" needs to be there?

Just a quick note to say that OP does good work. He just finished my page and it looks better than I had envisioned in my mind.

I will post a link to the page when I get home and can put the files on my server.

He was able to do the front end, GUI, work while I am still working on the back end dynamic content portion of the page. He was able to do the creative visual stuff that I have neither the talent nor the experience to make work.
Only 1 BTC?

I was debating myself on this for a while, because I could probably get more, and charging a low price sort of portrays the image of poor quality, but I figure if people end up seeing my work and liking it, they'll be more than willing to hire me. Plus, I can't complain making over $10/hour at 15, doing something I like Cheesy
611  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is competition healthy for Bitcoin? on: March 11, 2013, 12:11:54 AM
I've been taking a look into litecoin ... any alt-coin of choice?

Not even going to read the post, competition is good for everything, no questions, no exceptions.
612  Economy / Lending / Re: 3BTC Loan - Repayable on Wednesday With 30% Interest Added! on: March 11, 2013, 12:10:21 AM
I have had two different investors loan 1btc so far, each will be paid back 1.3btc on Wednesday. Only need one more, thanks!

Wow, you did very well to get that much loaned to you!

It was from people I know on a different forum. I know newbies are frowned upon here, but just because we are new here doesn't mean we're completely new to bitcoins or that we're scammers/fraudsters with a fresh id, sometimes it actually means the person didn't find his way to that forum until just now.

I could be Bill Gates. The little writing I provided in this thread and any linking info of my profile should not be enough to justify my credit to be unworthy of an approximately $40 loan.

613  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Address collision? on: March 10, 2013, 11:23:52 PM
This is discussed here numerous times. Search for "hash collision" or "address collision". In theory it is possible, but super ultra extremely unlike in practice.

It is nothing to be worried about.

If someone can generate the same key or different key that hashes to same address, he can spend all associated coins. But as I told it is too unlikely to ever happen in lifetime of Bitcoin as long as random number generator is not faulty.

So is your address a hash of your private key?
614  Other / Beginners & Help / Address collision? on: March 10, 2013, 11:10:50 PM
I was reading a guide on securely storing bitcoins, and it said a good way is to disconnect a computer from the internet, generate an address, send coins to that address, encrypt the wallet, and store it. This got me thinking: If that computer disconnected from the network can generate a given address, doesn't that mean I can generate the same address? What if two people were to create the same public and private keys, would they have access to each other's funds?
615  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Want to buy $100 of LTC on: March 10, 2013, 04:13:08 AM
Can use Paypal or e-interac. I've had many good exchanges here recently, the feedback should be in my recent post history.

I know the same could have been said about Bitcoin a year ago, but why but any actual money into Litecoin? Bitcoin has a much higher chance of a long-term, successful future.
616  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Campaign for XBT. A new ISO Currency Code is required for Bitcoin on: March 10, 2013, 01:50:13 AM
How about we just use BTC until it's so commonly accepted that ISO just follows along?

This. Very this.
617  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Transferring blockchain to another computer? on: March 09, 2013, 06:05:23 PM
I just spent two days getting the blockchain on my laptop, and I don't want to go through it all again on my desktop. My laptop runs OSX, and my desktop runs Linux. Should I just quit Bitcoin on both, copy ~/Library/Application Support/Bitcoin/blocks to my flash drive, and then to ~/Bitcoin/blocks on my desktop? Do I need chainstate or database from my Mac's bitcoin folder?
618  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Register and get free Bitcoins on: March 09, 2013, 05:01:13 AM
Sorry but I doubt anyone would care for 18 cents.

When your only sources of BTC are CoinTube and BitVisitor, anything over .0001 is substantial. I've been at it for days and only have like .003.
619  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Eventual size of blockchain? on: March 08, 2013, 11:02:47 PM
I was thinking about the concept of the blockchain, and it seems unsustainable. What happens if Bitcoin is still in use in 40 years? Will we have 2048GB SSDs to store the blockchain on? Imagine if every USD transaction ever hat to be permanently logged, wouldn't we run out of storage space pretty quickly?
