6001  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Economic Advantage on: December 04, 2021, 02:48:04 PM
Bitcoin has given most people the financial freedom that is needed, one has to know the fundamental usage of bitcoin and the blockchain technology, one of the most important aspects of bitcoin is to give its end-users the will to be independent.

Although I agree in principle that Bitcoin can help an individual not to be completely dependent on the existing financial system, it is not a one-way street where honey and milk flow. The question is how does the average Bitcoin investor feel today when about 20% of his value has literally melted away in the blink of an eye?

I believe that many woke up and were unpleasantly surprised, especially those who invested not so long ago when it seemed that it was only a matter of days when some magic would double their invested amount.

I reside in a country where the rate of inflation is high with a corrupted political system and tenures that have stolen the collective wealth of the nation and have crippled the economy...

You are not the only one who has such a problem, and I can tell you that in many countries that are considered part of the advanced and civilized world, the situation regarding corruption is very bad. The difference is that people may be living better in those countries and not paying too much attention to what those at the top of the pyramid are doing.
6002  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: December 04, 2021, 12:10:24 PM
You are right mate, Gojo was the big surprise beating Lajovic in a come from behind fashion.

For those who watched him in a few matches before that, it was no surprise that he won - he is a very good player who is also in great shape.

Even before the match between Croatia and Serbia, it was known that the first match between Gojo and Lajovic would be crucial for the victory.
It was already known in advance that the Serbs have little chance in doubles and that Cilic also has very little chance in the match against Djokovic.

If I'm not mistaken, the coaches decide who will play in which match - and then why didn't Dokovic play in the first match and secure the first point, and Cilic would probably lose to any Serbian player in this form - doubles would not matter. The Serbian underestimation of Borna Gojo and the tactics for Dokovic to beat Cilic and thus take Serbia to the finals hit them in the head just as they had not hoped.
6003  Other / Meta / Re: Proposal: Rename the "Press" board to "Spammer of the Month" board on: December 04, 2021, 11:45:10 AM
Locking these threads doesn't make the Press board any more readable though, and you still have to search through all this trash to find meaningful threads.

Some threads have been deleted, others have not, it is the decision of the moderator who handles the reports. At this point, it was obviously not possible to achieve better than this.

And it also does nothing to disincentivize the spammer in question, since he still gets paid for spamming for CoinTelegraph. And without any actual enforcement and bans from higher up, then you will eventually get bored of reporting the same user literally hundreds of times, as has happened to plenty of other people posting in this thread. I don't mean to discourage you, but this is not a long term solution.

As far as I can see the user in question is no longer active on the Press board, last thread was posted 7 days ago - so I would not agree that he will continue with what he did before. This is not a long-term solution, but it sends a message to anyone who tries something similar that it will not pay off.
6004  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Still worth to invest Bitcoin? on: December 04, 2021, 11:09:00 AM
I want to invest something for $20000, still worth?

If you ask such a question on a forum called bitcointalk, don't expect to get a negative answer to your question - most people here are mostly positive when it comes to such an investment.

Questions I would ask myself before such an investment :

  • Do I even understand what Bitcoin is?
  • Do I know how to store it properly?
  • Am I investing in the short or long term?
  • Is that money I can afford to lose?

If you answer those questions, you might get an answer to your question, and after all, it's about your money.
6005  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Falling due to FUD (Fear Uncertainty Doubt) ? on: December 04, 2021, 10:48:20 AM
You can't hold crypto in private wallets anymore ?

It's unbelievable that anyone can believe such nonsense at all - and let's start again to reconsider whether someone can forbid me or you to have Bitcoin in your full non-custodial private wallet?

Or there is some other reason behind ?

How about this? If you are interested in something more about it, I suggest you visit the WO board and find out a little more.
6006  Other / Meta / Re: What is happening with the CAPTCHA? on: December 04, 2021, 10:20:39 AM
I don't know why, but I had the idea that for security reasons it is better to log out and log in. Can anyone confirm if there is no problem with this?

The only problem that comes to my mind is that it can be a bad idea if you share a device with someone. Even if this is not the case, I would never choose the "always stay logged in" option, because it only takes me about 15-20 seconds for this process (unless the captcha doesn't have a bad day).
6007  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Signature campaigns and taxation. on: December 03, 2021, 01:50:34 PM
I see so many people wearing signatures these days.
How do you state the cryptocurrency income from signature campaigns in your tax return?

If the state doesn’t know I’m in the signature campaign, doesn’t know my identity and BTC address, and I’m not so stupid as to use a centralized crypto exchange that requires KYC, should I care about taxes at all? Especially when it comes to some small amounts that most campaign participants earn these days.

For example, I would have to pay a tax on other income, which is about 20%, and those who are not employed should pay all possible contributions that are otherwise paid by the employer (pension, health insurance ...), which means about 40%+. The absurdity of the whole procedure is that the tax return should be done after each payment, which means that I should visit the tax office every week and fill out a pile of paperwork.
6008  Other / Meta / Re: What is happening with the CAPTCHA? on: December 03, 2021, 01:36:31 PM
Has anyone else had this happen?

Today, the captcha is a little more irritating than usual, but I have patience with it - I remember once solving hundreds of them a day by clicking on the faucets. I think that such situations happen because there is an increased attack of bots on the captcha service, and Google reacts to this by increasing the difficulty which inevitably affects legitimate users as well.
6009  Other / Meta / Re: Proposal: Rename the "Press" board to "Spammer of the Month" board on: December 03, 2021, 01:28:24 PM
Honestly, I've got tired of reporting the above mentioned... As o_e_l_e_o said, I observed it's useless...

Not in vain as most claim, it is enough to look at the Press board and see that the spammer of the month received an award from the mods - although it is a pity that not all threads are deleted, the mods still took into account that this would delete a lot of posts from users that post in that threads. I did my part - a waste of time? I can survive without those few minutes I spent there.

6010  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin canada ETF approved spot etf explained on: December 03, 2021, 01:07:44 PM
Canada spot ETF meaning the investors can buy spot the actual cryptocurrency.
...
We will see about 1 month bullish market as the spot ETF investors definately will drive up the prices.

You have at least one big problem in this whole story, and that is that this ETF is based in Canada. The only physically based BTC ETF that could have a significant impact on the price of Bitcoin is one that has not yet happened, and the venue is the US. To be honest, the US is the center of the world when it comes to Bitcoin, unless someone thinks that Coinbase, Gemini, MicroStrategy, Grayscale, and many other lesser-known companies do not play a significant role when it comes to global influence on cryptocurrencies.
6011  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Debunking a few crypto myths - governments that allegedly own Bitcoin. on: December 03, 2021, 12:45:20 PM
#OP, I see you are not mentioning the bitcoins that has been confiscated by governments?

I mentioned the case of Bulgaria and China, which are most often referred to as the governments that allegedly have the most BTC in their possession. As for the links you mentioned, it is generally about the seizure of cryptocurrencies that include altcoins, not Bitcoin exclusively. If a government has 1 million Faketoshi coins or 2 million Roger Judas coins, who should care for that.

So these governments do not have to buy these coins with tax payers money, because they can simply confiscate it from people that used it in crime (including tax evasion)

Seizure and investment are different things, especially if there is no intention to keep the seized coin - and as you say, they all sell it sooner or later, otherwise, they would give legitimacy to something they are fundamentally opposed to.
6012  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Is this exchange legit? on: December 03, 2021, 10:58:11 AM
How about dating a fake model from Brazil for 15 years and now knowing she's fake?
https://www.marca.com/en/lifestyle/2021/11/27/61a278d922601d0a288b45a5.html

This is almost unreal, 15 years of long-distance relationships and it never occurred to a man to go to Brazil and visit her Huh This one is definitely a competitor for the idiot of the century, and I thought athletes had at least a little above average IQ - obviously not.
6013  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 02, 2021, 04:44:19 PM
Lots of respected analysts saying the bull run is over bro, the top was $69,xxx etc.

These are not experts, but ordinary pessimists who repeat the same thing every time the price of Bitcoin drops 5% - and for them, the bull market ended in April 2021. Listening to such people is not only a waste of time, but can have serious (financial) consequences for anyone who believes what they say.

Title: CBDC is a tool to combat Bitcoin, says Bank of Indonesia exec
How can CBDCs combat bitcoin? CBDCs are fiats and nothing more, what is special about CBDCs than being more privacy depriving?

Ask yourself how many people can define Bitcoin in one or two simple sentences? I honestly doubt that this is perhaps between 1% and 2% of the total world population, and I may have exaggerated the estimate if we take into account that a large number of members of this forum do not distinguish Bitcoin from blockchain.

Herein lies the answer to your question “how can CBDC combat Bitcoin?” - very easily if the average person doesn’t know the difference between two diametrically different things. In addition, most people blindly trust governments and do whatever is asked of them, which means that they will believe that CBDC is better than BTC.
6015  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Is this exchange legit? on: December 02, 2021, 04:05:16 PM
I found it through a chick I met on tinder. Damn, I did not see that scam coming. Should have done though. Women are always my downfall.

If you haven’t already figured it out, it’s very likely that you didn’t communicate with a chick, but with some scammer who uses a fake female profile to catch people like you. It’s an old trick, and I still don’t realize that people don’t realize that on these dating platforms most profiles are fake and artificially created by that same company.

The situation in which you meet a person online, she advises you to invest money in any nonsense and you do it, is really something you are guilty of, regardless of the bad intentions of the person on the other side.
6016  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Microstrategy Buy more Bitcoin on: December 02, 2021, 03:24:57 PM
It is unbelievable to see the wealth (which is a fraction of global wealth) which is finding
its way into Bitcoin $414,000,000 on this latest buying session and this is only what is
being made public. We can be sure there are others buying millions (more or less)
who dont have to publicise it.

If we take into account the fact that the trading volume in the last 24 hours is more than $34 billion, it is really hardly worth mentioning. However, it should be taken into account that the volume through OTC may be even higher, although this is data that cannot be easily verified.

There is no doubt that people are buying, but also that these same people are selling - and that the amount of BTC available for daily trading is still significant. In addition, more than 2 million BTCs are available for mining, and no one is feeling the real shortage yet - there are few people like Saylor who buy and hold for the long term.
6017  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: My newbie trading experience on: December 02, 2021, 12:04:03 PM
Since then I suffered a loss and have recovered but need trading knowledge that will take me to the next level with high profits.

Cryptocurrency trading is extremely risky because they are volatile and no one can give you or sell you instant knowledge of how to be successful. The most important thing is to gain experience, and you can only do that with time, which means that you will, unfortunately, have to lose many times to learn something.

What you need to know is that trading is not for everyone, and that most end up losing their money or giving up for a small profit. It can also be very stressful and affect human health if it goes to some extreme. If it were so easy to make big profits on cryptocurrency trading, then everyone would be successful - and the fact that only a small percentage really gets rich means that a lot of ordinary traders like you have to lose their money.

Your loss is someone's gain, and the question is whether you can be on the winner's side in any way.
6018  Economy / Economics / Re: Prospective retailer on: December 02, 2021, 11:30:49 AM
I was just wondering don't you think becoming a retail vendor through a well developed exchange can earn you passive income or you haven't thought in that direction. Or could there be an  untold/hidden mysteries behind setting up an exchange because we still need more exchanges so we can give crypto more boost beyond government regulations

I don’t see how cryptocurrency trading could be considered legal while at the same time avoiding regulation by governments? If you were to imagine a scenario in which there is no CEX, only DEX - how many people do you think would trade Bitcoin today, and how many people would know it even exists?

Lest anyone misunderstand, I understand that decentralization is very important, and that it is bad that CEX holds such large amounts of BTC in its possession - but since most people have never accepted (or realized) how important it is to be their own bank, consciously we agreed to go in a direction we might not have needed to go.

As for the number of crypto exchanges, I think there are more than there should be, and it should be regulated who can start such a business. Too many people have seen an opportunity to get rich that way, and in many cases this results in hacking and losing clients ’funds, or with an exit scam.

6020  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto's Wealth on: December 02, 2021, 10:49:21 AM
I have serious doubts if Satoshi Nakamoto even have access to those "early" coins. I think he mined "tokens" in the early days as an experiment and he/she or they never even thought that it would reach a price of $60 000+ .....so Satoshi just threw away the private keys for those experiments. (probably printed on a piece of paper or written down in a notebook)

I do not agree that he never had access to these coins, and I think he understood perfectly the problem that these coins might cause in the future. Unless something happened to him suddenly, I believe he made sure no one but him ever got access to those private keys. Satoshi has never shown interest in profiting from Bitcoin, so it is not at all debatable what he would do even if he knew how much 1 BTC would be worth in 10+ years.
