When the response to someone breaking the rules is urging forgiveness, do the rules really matter at all?  It seems more like virtue signaling to me while pretending to allow free speech when in reality the forum is heavily moderated for things like cryptography usage outside of Bitcoin.  It's really sad to be honest, but I understand that it's a big job to keep bad people from making inappropriate posts that violate the rules.  It's easier to just take this route of making excuses and continue censoring what you want while allowing members to be targeted and harassed under the guise of free speech when in reality it's just pawning off the responsibility on the community using the trust network, which is empowered by politics and heavily manipulated, not to mention does nothing to stop the underlying abuse and instead causes more abuse to those who stand up and do the right thing.
6082  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Have you been infected with Covid-19? on: April 18, 2022, 07:55:55 PM
I'm assuming by this point we've probably all been infected with Covid-19.  The question is, how would you know?  Most people don't have symptoms and the large majority that do are unable to tell the difference between covid and the common cold.  I lost my sense of taste for a day a couple years ago, I assume that was me getting covid as I've never lost my sense of taste before and it is supposedly one of the symptoms.  I also received notification 3 times throughout this pandemic that I was exposed to someone confirmed as having covid, I say exposed but with this type of exposure it would be impossible to not transmit a virus.  All that being said, I never experienced any symptoms that would make me consider going to a hospital, so I can't say for sure I've ever had it.  I think this is probably the case for most people, unless you have some underlying serious medical condition or have been brainwashed and think that the flu is a life threatening situation for healthy people and submit to testing out of fear.
6083  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your NBA Champion this season? on: April 18, 2022, 07:42:27 PM
Before the first game of the first round I was thinking it was going to be Bucks or Nets in the Finals for the East and that whoever made it that far would be the winner.  I don't really like what I saw from either team in their first playoff game though.  The Nets specifically seem to be very streaky and reliant on their stars for points while lacking defensively.  Ben Simmons will help bigtime if he can get on the floor, but it remains to be seen if that will happen in time to change the series.

After the first game of the playoffs, I'm now thinking the Warriors and the Suns have a good shot at taking the title.  I hope these 2 sets of teams matchup during the playoffs and that whoever wins ends up in the Finals together.  That's what I want to see.  Unless Zion comes back healthy, then it would be great to see him play in as many games as possible.
6084  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: April 18, 2022, 07:39:10 PM
Here are my picks for tomorrow's game highlighted in green are my pick,

Philadelphia 76ers VS Toronto Raptors

Stake odds for this game are 1.30 for the 76ers while 3.65 for the Raptors right now, Charles Bassey can not play for the 76ers while Jaden Springer is questionable if he can play, and Scottie Barnes can not play for the Raptors, while Thaddeus Young and Gary Trent Jr. are questionable if they can play, but last game was a win for the 76ers, and from that game, Raptor's Precious Achiuwa didn't play well or he is still recovering from something, so I think this could be a repeat over the last game so I would be going with the 76ers.

Dallas Mavericks VS Utah Jazz

Stake Odds for this game are 2.75 for the Mavericks, while 1.47 for the Jazz, right now. Frank Ntilikina and Tim Hardaway Jr. can not play for the Mavericks, while Luka Doncic is questionable for the Mavericks, while Trent Forrest was questionable for the Jazz, this could be a hard thing to decide. Both teams can sure win with a good push, but Luka Doncic is questionable and we can not be so sure if he can play 100% in good shape, so my pick would be the Utah Jazz.

Golden State Warriors VS Denver Nuggets

Stake Odds for this game are 1.34 for the Warriors while 3.40 for the Nuggets, James Wiseman was out for the season, but mostly the Warriors is in their 100% form while the Nuggets has Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. can not play for the Nuggets, I could be sound as bias for the Warriors but right now I am digging the new Golden State Warriors their defense is massive right now because of Draymond Green, and Kevon Looney, while in the offensive they have the Splash Trio, I'd say Draymond green can pass to anyone of them and could have great results, or Poole or Curry can make a notable play on their own, and could fine great success towards it, this is what I see and what I like about the Golden State Warriors right now so my pick will be the Warriors.

Not bad explanations and selections.  The only game I might have some disagreement with is the Dallas Mavericks vs the Utah Jazz.  I think Dallas is capable of beating them this series and I wouldn't be surprised to see an upset there.  With them losing the first game I think the odds are better for them today as I don't think they're going to go down being swept in the first round.  For that reason, I think given the odds in favor of the Jazz, the Mavericks might be a good bet here as far as risk/reward goes.  I don't think I'd want to bet on the Jazz with only a 47% return when the Mavs have a good shot of winning and return 175%.  Risk/reward...
6085  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Fluid gender garbage. on: April 18, 2022, 07:34:29 PM
The one thing I don't understand about the mental illness of denying your gender, is why it is limited to gender.  If someone uses this same approach to their race, they are often vilified.  I'd love to hear someone explain to me how a man can identify as a woman and participate in female sports, but an Asian man can't identify as a black man to get more opportunities for college grants.  Why is society taking this stance that you can select your gender and everyone has to go along with it, but if you select your race then you are a racist?  It makes no sense to me.  Does this mean the mental illness of denying who you are will expand to race someday, or will we all eventually stop playing these games and identify people by their biological chromosomes?
6086  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 18, 2022, 07:28:46 PM
That dip under $40K didn't last long.  You can see that there's demand waiting to buy the dips now and the floor keeps rising.  I'm a bit surprised with all the Do Kwon buying along with Saylor out doing his promo thing we're still seeing Bitcoin's price decline in the short term.  I thought Do Kwon was going to carry us above $50,000 and then that might set off a wave of FOMO that would push us back towards the highs.  It seems people are being smarter about their purchases now, which has me thinking that maybe retail investors have run out of speculative funds to throw into crypto and we're now seeing large funds looking to scoop up deals as opposed to retail buyers FOMO'ing the price to overvalued levels.  I'd feel pretty good about buying in with the big boys under $40K here, even though cyclically we should be seeing a downturn in price at this point in time.
6087  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin Mixer services be trusted? on: April 18, 2022, 06:58:26 PM
I believe that when it comes to privacy and anonymity, you can't trust anyone at all. So what kind of information can a bitcoin mixer service get?

This is a very good point with relation to mixing services.  A lot of people talk about how they use the services for privacy reasons.  I think that's a lot of bullshit.  I would guess that a large majority of the users who utilize these services are petty criminals who are laundering small amounts of stolen funds.  That's why you see those wearing mixing service signatures constantly harassing attempted scammers who are not covering their tracks by paying a % of their stolen funds to mixing services.  That point aside, you have to assume that government agencies such as the IRS have likely already setup their own mixing services as honeypots or are monitoring mixing services to go after any large transactions they are able to trace (which is easier than you think).  I imagine at some point in the future there will be a massive sting and a lot of people are going to get caught up using these services.  That or they will shut down and run once they realize they've been compromised and take any funds they're mixing with them.
6088  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Bitmain repair process - First Time Newbie on: April 18, 2022, 06:44:56 PM
Hello Guys,

I have a control board issue with my Antminer L7 and after discussion Bitmain told me to send back the miner to China.
Its the first time I come along with the process to send back a miner to China and I have some doubts :

After Bitmain repair and send me back the miner will I have to pay again for customs taxes when they return it to me?
If yes, how to avoid the payment of taxes again?
What do you advise me in your experience to make the shipping secure and to avoid stealing and/or damages during shipping process?

Thanks in advance for your precious help guys !

It's been a long time since I've sent anything to Bitmain for repair, but the last time I did it there were no issues.  I'm sure they have a pretty good process setup by this point.  The only concern I would have (so long as you follow all the instructions) is how much shipping is going to cost you, as it isn't always cheap sending things around the world.  There used to be a service in Colorado that would do repairs for cheap and it actually turned out to be faster and cheaper than sending to Bitmain, so I used them quite a bit.  Not sure if they're still around but I imagine that there are certified Bitmain repair companies in the US.  I don't think you'd have to worry about customs for a repair job, but if you're worried about that, finding a repair company in the US would alleviate that concern as well.
6089  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Average bitcoin transaction fee lowest since two years on: April 18, 2022, 06:38:45 PM
The fact is, it's going to be even lower in the coming days. One have to understand that there were already networks like :
Lightning network
SegWit
These networks were already sufficiently used to decrease the amount of transaction fee, I remember my campaign manager @lauda telling us to use samourai few years back to have affordable transaction fee, thats how I got into that. Therefore one I do think that it does depend on the community as well to explore the other ideas. At the same time the fee is changing ofc all the time according to the price as well but now a days wallets are operating at much lower fee at the same time on sites like roobet you can choose the urgency of your transaction making it way easier to choose your own fee.
We have definitely come a long way.

I think the low fees are less the result of Lightning activity and more the result of decreased Bitcoin activity.  The onboarding of countries like El Salvador hasn't boosted usage the way it was thought to in my opinion.  From what I'm reading the only thing it really boosted was the use of stable coins like USDT.  With Bitcoin increasingly being purchased more as an investment to hold instead of a currency to transact, it's clear that it's main use case is as a speculative investment, with it's secondary usage being to purchase altcoins.  There was a flash in the pan for a moment as Tesla said they were accepting BTC, but that quickly disappeared.  The fact that big companies like Tesla are willing to buy Bitcoin as an investment, but not accept it as a currency should tell you all you need to know about the current state of Bitcoin.  We have certainly come a long way, but are we headed in the right direction?
6090  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: April 18, 2022, 05:27:16 PM
Standing on regular season is just a number when it comes to playoffs because you are playing against different teams on regular season which doesn’t give other team to adjust. In playoffs, both team especially the team with low standing already carefully study the opponents gameplay base on there previous matches. Timverwolves is very strong during play-in tournament and considering they still have the momentum, I’m not surprised that they defeat Grizzlies on there first match for the playoffs. Let’s see if they can close the series.
Look, I don't know, maybe I'm underestimating the Timberwolves.
In the first game they played well, and several players scored for Minnesota, let's see if the Timberwoves will continue with that performance!
Although some Grizzlies players could have helped the team more, for example Adams who is an important player

I think the Timberwolves are actually the better team.  With Antman, Kat, & DiAngelo, they definitely have more talent.  Kat is always a bit of a gamble because you don't know if he's going to have an MVP type game or be completely worthless out there.  Antman seems to be the most promising player on the floor.  I think he's beginning to eclipse Ja Morant with skills and with Kat and DiAngelo balling alongside him, the Grizzlies have a tough battle ahead.  I'm a bit surprised the Grizzlies had as well of a season as they did, but I think they're about to face an upset and find themselves on a fishing boat long before they had hoped.
6091  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Microstrategy shareholders letters that more bitcoin would still be bought on: April 18, 2022, 05:23:03 PM
I just wonder how long this can continue.  The company's most recent earnings showed that they lost over $50 per share and still keep buying Bitcoin.  It seems like the business was stagnant with little growth prospects and then decided to throw a hail mary on Bitcoin.  It seems to be paying off for them in the short term, but if the entire Bitcoin economy is being propped up by a company that is losing millions on behalf of their shareholders to continue buying a speculative asset then I think we're in trouble.  The fact that even with Do Kwon buying hundreds of millions of dollars worth of BTC the price is still falling shows that these big players trying to manipulate the market may not have as easy of a time as they think going forward.  I feel like the options traders are in control now and it will take a lot for a big move to happen.  At the very least, we'll need companies that actually make money to be the ones buying it.
6092  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining profit is fading on: April 18, 2022, 09:32:56 AM
Instead of considering it mining at a profit, think of it as purchasing Bitcoin at a discount. Sure, the discount may be shrinking as adoption grows, but if you have conviction about the underlying asset it doesn’t matter. One could even make the argument that mined coins should be worth more than coins purchased from an exchange and as a result one could assume that the day will come when that discount becomes a premium, especially when you consider the big boys are mining at crazy cheap electricity rates compared to the average GPU home miner.
6093  Other / Archival / Re: How will the stock market crash affect the price of bitcoin in 2022? on: April 18, 2022, 09:13:52 AM
It’s tough to say really what will happen to Bitcoin when the recession becomes apparent in the markets. I’ve never been alive during a period of inflation like we’re seeing now, so I don’t know what an inflationary recession looks like. It’s quite possible that Bitcoin and markets won’t fall as much as might be expected due to spiking inflation eating away at the value of things. I do believe that Bitcoin won’t be the safe haven during the next recession that some people think and it will more likely act as a speculative asset, but I guess we’ll figure that out sometime in the next 6-18 months.

Between the Nets losing by 1 point and the Pelicans missing the spread by 1 point, I missed out on a couple massive parlays.  That's the way it goes sometimes.  I have to say though, that Nets game was one of the most exciting I've seen in a while.  A shame their defense was horrible down the stretch but I think the Celtics are going to have trouble winning another game.  Durant's bad start really cost them as they had to dig themselves out in the 4th.  They showed what they're capable of and with Ben Simmons coming back soon I think they're in a good position going forward.  I just wish they'd won tonight (and the Pelicans covered the spread).

6096  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: April 17, 2022, 10:10:41 PM
Such disappointing defense down the stretch for the Nets. They must have given up at least 4 uncontested layups in the last 5 minutes of the game. Their final shot was terrible and they didn’t even make an effort to get the rebound. The Celtics deserved to win this one. It’s clear they aren’t the better team, but the Nets aren’t making the kind of effort they need to in order to win playoff games. I think the Nets will still win the series but they’re going to have to bring a lot more effort going forward. Their defense down the stretch was embarrassing. Kyrie had a hell of a game though.
6097  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: April 17, 2022, 09:58:21 PM
Playoffs time. Smiley

here's my pick for the coming games. Not going to pick at least 1 game a day, this time I'll be adding some spice and let's see if we can be profitable.
So here it is.

Brooklyn Nets ML and +4
Suns -10.5
Heat -6.5

GL Everyone!
Heat -6.5 is an already sealed win, and it's not even close! the Miami Heat dominated the game defensively from the onset, this could be a 5 game series at most.

I'll be riding on the Brookly Nets ML, Kyrie and Durant expertise in the playoffs cannot be undermined.

gl!
Boston blowing a 15 point lead in the second half but now are trailing with only 5:56 minutes left of play at 105-100.
Brooklyn just might do the major upset with Kyrie giving the finger after hitting a three just might be on Boston newspapers tomorrow morning - With him saying hi to all his former fans in the arena.

Kyrie is definitely going to see a fine for flipping the bird to the Boston crowd. The Nets have made a great comeback but I’m a little concerned as they’re tied going into the final minutes. They are letting the Celtics drive to the lane seemingly at will. Marcus Smart needs to get pushed to his left but they are letting him go right and get easy layups every play… Durant needs to stop turning the ball over as well. I think to win they need to let Kyrie lead them to the promised land.
6098  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: April 17, 2022, 09:54:14 PM
Boston Celtics had a 15-point lead, but Kyrie Irving played so hard that he changed the game in an instant. He scored two three-pointers in a row and scored 8 points with an easy layup. Then Durant hit a three-pointer and the Brooklyn Nets took the lead again. If Boston loses the home advantage, they're going to be in big trouble. Brooklyn is such a team. They can change the game in an instant. Kyrie has already scored 29 and Durant 21, and don't forget Dragic from bench.

Kyrie is definitely in beast mode right now. Durant started off with a terrible shooting streak but as soon as the fourth quarter hit they all started going crazy. The Celtics are still dominating down low and the Nets defense in the key is concerning, but it looks like they’ve got momentum on their side as they are up by 5 with 5 minutes to go. Now that Durant seems to be back into his regular routine I’m starting to feel pretty good about picking the Nets to win this one (in several different bets). Crossing fingers now as I watch how this one ends.
6099  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Strange mining performance on: April 17, 2022, 09:26:34 PM
Maybe a different kind of ping. It could be ICMP ping, TCP reply, or pool reply.

I would say this is more along the lines of what you’re seeing. I doubt that ping would be effected by which miner you use. Ping is also not extremely important for individual miners anyway, so even if what you’re seeing was reality (likely isn’t, as explained above) it wouldn’t be the deciding factor for using one software set versus the other. With all the variables involved in mining, for individuals, ping is probably the least important so long as it isn’t insanely high. Yours isn’t, so I wouldn’t worry about it.

Thanks!

And the skin contact is actually a very good point, nice to see that confirmed.
I am still baffled about how Pandas compare to Silver Eagles when it comes to handling them “under the same circumstances”.

Skin contact is probably the #1 cause in my opinion. You can definitely see a huge difference over time no matter how they’ve been stored if one has been touched by human hands directly. I’ve always taken great care to make sure that coins I sell are never touched by human hands but you can never be totally certain what happens at the mint, etc. This is also a reason why I am opposed to coin grading. While I’m sure the grading experts know that touching coins with bare hands is a no-no, you can never be too sure that someone didn’t have a bad day or a moment of laziness while handling your coins.
