I do recall a push by the bfgminer author to put longpoll into the bitcoind client to inform mining software of block changes but no such thing exists, so perhaps he does nothing special to make sure you're working on a new block. Cgminer checks every 0.5 second when mining solo to bitcoind.

No point stickying information on hardware that is only of historical value to bitcoin mining.

The protocol is exactly the same as for the bi*fury devices (and also the same for the One String Miner), so cgminer already supports them.
The code assumes 2 job queues so I assume you worked within that framework despite the extra chips?

Neither will make anything but a massive loss mining bitcoin. If you plan to mine something else then you're asking in the wrong place.

These are other hashing algorithms used by altcoins in place of the algorithm used by bitcoin, which is fixed to sha256d

Hi all. Just got an antminer U2. for trial but cant get it to run. I keep getting " err-99 libusb failed to start " Running win 7 64 bit, installed driver using zadig , WinUSB v6.1.7600.16385 . Tried driver updates, running in and out of admin, restarting and or repluging after , even get this message with just Cgminer exe , no u2 , no command line. Got me frizzed. Any help would be good !
What version of cgminer? There were some generic changes done to the windows libusb for 4.2.2 but no one has tested them or reported back. If you were on 4.2.2, try 4.2.1 which doesn't have those changes, or vice versa.

Where would you use getwork today?
DeepBit is still getwork only ... almost dead, because of that. Ah yes, out of sight, out of mind because of it too. I wasn't even sure there was anywhere I could even test it to fix it. Okay, fixed it in git.

Well, for what it's worth my unit went off to have a suitable PSU attached by friends of the JTMiner crew and has not been seen since...
This situation continues...

Hello everybody,
I can't get my new antminers U2 to work, never done mining before. The devices can not be seen ! I have the winusb drivers with ZADIC ready, but I don't know what to do with the CP210x_VCP driver, I think they are just for bfgminer.
Also the bat-file is a problem. I only find command-lines for the old U1, not for the U2.
Have 2 of these here, wanted to try DEM (eMark) for fun, it's hard.
Anybody willing to help out? That would be great !
Try reading the instructions included in the file ASIC-README. Search for "GETTING STARTED WITH USB ASICS" in the windows section. Cgminer works fine with these devices.

That mining full time for a year might earn you 5 cents total over that year.

sorry for probably stupid question, but would like to be sure: does it work with stratum+tcp pools?
Virtually every single bitcoin pool of any signficance only use stratum+tcp, and most miners using cgminer use stratum to mine, so that's a definite yes.

New release: 4.2.2, 29th March 2014
It seems getwork is broken with this release (and 4.2.1) - all shares are rejected, but going back to 4.2 fixes the problem Where would you use getwork today?

That would make this post about miscategorised posts a miscategorised post.

For some reason until the first few confirmations come in, blockchain.info says this often on freshly mined blocks.

Altcoins were developed only so that people could mine on commodity hardware and it be impossible to mine on GPUs FPGAs ASICs... oh shit, why do they exist now?
Maybe it is time you take a strong look at Nxt! ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) No thanks, I took a long hard look at bitcoin and liked what I saw and still like it today. You were discussing Altcoins if I am not mistaken... ![Undecided](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/undecided.gif) Not really, I was dissing them. Regardless... there is an answer to your question... ![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif) I hate to be pedantic but I wasn't... oh forget it ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif)
