6121  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: which escrow service do you use? on: October 30, 2017, 09:35:17 AM
No mater who your dealing with, never send a large amount of coins all at once. That's a good general rule of thumb and any good escrow will be willing to do multiple transactions to accommodate for this just make sure to tip then after.
6122  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cloud Mining - Legit or not? on: October 30, 2017, 09:32:04 AM
I discourage the use of cloud mining, just because it's not profitable in the long term. Normally what happens is a few people start earning a steady income with the service and either the company runs away with the money or clients stop earning the money. You only have to look at the history of these things and they always turn out to be a scam or unsuccessful.
6123  Other / Meta / Re: List of stolen accounts on: October 30, 2017, 09:26:03 AM
May i ask if this security feature is still in place now?  When a hacker changed the registered emaill address,  an confirmation email will be sent to the original email registered on this forum.  May i ask also if the admin has a list of BTC address of all users?  so when the hacker changed the btc add,  the recovery process will be easy.
When an account changes it's password a email is sent to the email on the account with a link which can be clicked to recover the account within 14 days of changing the password. (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2282758.msg23164732#msg23164732)

Admins probably don't store Bitcoin addresses of users, because lets face it they change so often. What administrators can do is check whether a Bitcoin address has been edited recently and investigate whether that was after the alleged hack.
6124  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin hodl clubs? on: October 30, 2017, 09:17:48 AM
I doubt there's going to be any clubs of this nature. Staking a address willingly just to show off your dick size is probably not a good idea. Those clubs would be targeted by hackers and social engineering and for what personal gain expect for ego?
6125  Other / Meta / Re: Had account hacked on: October 29, 2017, 10:33:22 AM

Actually I did have a transaction with a legendary member on here a month ago done through pm
Awesome, if you can recall their name you could ask them for the address you sent and the PM id. That second link that I gave you is pretty straight forward to follow so give it a try. Basically find the wallet which you use for the address and follow the instructions in the link, most of the wallets on there have a step by step image guide.
6126  Other / Meta / Re: Had account hacked on: October 29, 2017, 10:13:31 AM
Basically, your going to need to follow this to the letter: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=497545.0
If you aren't familiar with signing messages then follow the guide here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=990345.0

So find a staked address by the account which is unedited and sign a message with it. Send this to cyrus with all the information needed and wait patiently. If he doesn't reply then give him a week and send him a reminder. Doesn't seem like you've publicly staked any addresses, maybe you have a PM that you sent an address?

6127  Other / Meta / Re: btcrost my hacked account on: October 28, 2017, 03:58:29 PM
Send this information over to Cyrus (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=78147) if you haven't already, and PM Hilariousandco (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=164822) to  ban the account in the mean time to prevent any misuse of the account or you could get a default trust member to verify the signature and put negative trust on the account for now.
6128  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Would you want to get paid in ETH or Bitcoin? on: October 28, 2017, 01:36:07 PM
Are there any pay roll services for bitcoin and ETH?  As a Blockchain developer or professional would you be happy to get paid in a cryptocurrency?  Sure with smart contracts - an ethereum based app is ideal for the gig economy?

There's going to be more people willing to get paid in Bitcoin than any other alt coin. Bitcoin currently has the biggest market and the biggest user base in the crypptocurrency world.

Of course there will be people who are willing to get paid in altcoins but due to their nature those are far less than what you have with Bitcoin. At the end of the day people are willing to get paid in what they are invested in. So if they aren't invested in either Bitcoin or another alt coin then they would prefer to be paid in traditional currencies.

I personally would love to be paid in Bitcoin if that was possible within my field, which currently it isn't.
6129  Other / Meta / Re: List of stolen accounts on: October 28, 2017, 01:01:18 PM
With all the hacking happening lately and time it takes to recover the accounts such a list could be useful. Other users would know which accounts were stolen and:
-wouldn't allow them in sig campaigns / wouldn't pay them if they're already in
-would give them a temporary negative trust until the account is given back to the rightful owner
-wouldn't get scammed by them

I think we should do what we can to make it as unprofitable for the hackers as possible. What do you think?

With the amount of accounts being hacked then this would likely have to be a community maintained list. Plus, not all accounts are made public if they have been hacked or not. The person who was hacked can always contact the signature campaign manager and let them know their account is compromised with a signed message to verify.

Anyone who has lost their account can get it banned provided they have sufficient proof whilst waiting for it to be returned to prevent any scams.
6130  Other / Meta / Re: How to display/increase TRUST? on: October 28, 2017, 12:57:35 PM
I'm not going to make any assumptions with the trust you have received, but trust will only show up green if you have been given positive feedback by someone on default trust. Any new accounts aren't going to increase your trust rating visually.

Read more about it here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=211858.0
6131  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cloud mining if I have a tiny budget on: October 28, 2017, 12:51:41 PM
I would recommend against using any cloud mining service if you are serious about making money. Of course, if you just want to earn the minimal amount then cloud mining services are fine, but if you want to make a living mining Bitcoin then you should invest in the equipment and do it yourself.

Also, be careful with a lot of the cloud mining services often they lead to scams.

Problems cannot find a bitcoin wallet that works

I really cannot fathom how bitcoin is being valued so high now,
when i haven't been able to find a bitcoin wallet that works for me for a long time.

and the washing of hands of people, when they refer me to a list of bitcoin wallets,
intent is that i can then chose which poison to try and download myself,
and their conscience is then clean...

is there a bitcoin wallet that is trusted that you can refer me to?

I was also trying to find a bitcoincash wallet but same thing, there is big problems with finding a wallet that works.

What do you mean by works? If you run to run a full node then Bitcoin core is fine, and works on several different operating systems. If you don't want to sync fully or run a full node then Electrum is a light weight wallet which also runs on a variety of different systems. These should all automatically download and create a wallet for you which will then be able to use.

If you are struggling with setup then consult the wallets wiki page.
6133  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A Girl Lives on Bitcoin for a Week and Proves Bitcoin Is Gaining Acceptance on: October 28, 2017, 12:46:00 PM
It's nice to see that Bitcoin can be used and shows that an increasing amount of places have started trading in Bitcoin. Although, I would expect countries like USA and the UK to be easier to live on Bitcoin especially around the cities. She's going to Asia to do the same and I think that will be interesting considering the noise recently about Bitcoin over there.
6134  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: learning blockchain technology? on: October 26, 2017, 10:15:47 PM
Essentially the Blockchain is a public ledger at it's core, but if you would like to learn more about the technology and the possibilities of the technology take a look at a few ted talks which go through it.

Another decent website which explains  what the Blockchain is about is here: https://blockchainhub.net/blockchain-intro/
6135  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to open my Electrum wallet again? on: October 25, 2017, 09:09:49 AM
Opening Electrum should bring up your wallet automatically. If not, locate your wallet file where ever you told Electrum to download. This could be stored anywhere you pointed it too, common places are %appdata% and documents.
6136  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Bitcoin were ever to die, would that be a good thing for cryptocurrency? on: October 24, 2017, 11:03:15 PM
It might be, Bitcoin has generated a lot of interest from people to make their own coins. Now, currently a lot of them are simply copies, or have poor implementations. But, in the future there could be some genuinely better cryptocurrencies than Bitcoin, and improve on the existing system. Only then will it benefit cryptocurrencies.
6137  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-10-10] Diploma and grading in the blockchain system - the future of univer on: October 24, 2017, 10:52:13 PM
I think this is a great use of the blockchain. I've discussed this before with a few people and believe a lot of different entities will be able to embrace the blockchain into their operations. I believe the medical field would really benefit from the blockchain and using it to store certain information on the blockchain.
6138  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Low fee BTC transaction??? on: October 24, 2017, 10:45:04 PM
I don`t have a lot experience in BTC. Today I make low fee transaction and its stuck. Do I need to worry to lose my currency?
Thank You

It will eventually confirm. But, if you plan on receiving your Bitcoin quicker next time, make sure you pay the recommended tip. Can't really estimate the time it will take without knowing the fee.
6139  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you secure your bitcoins? on: October 24, 2017, 10:40:59 PM
Now there are new viruses that do not crack passwords. Was a virus Petya today I read that there is a new virus Bad Rabit. They encrypt your data and for decoding extort money. It makes a risky way of storing your coins offline on the computer. It seems to me that the safest way is e-wallets. Only we must not forget about their own safety.

I'm not sure what you mean by e- wallets, something like Trezor I assume? Trezor isn't any safer than cold storage. Trezor also requires an investment whilst cold storage is free to use. Offline wallets are safe if you follow the directions correctly. There's no way any hacker can access the private key as long as you follow the instructions correctly.

Trezor is decent for people who are neglecting security and do not want to go through the process of securing their wallet themselves and just want "plug and play"
6140  Economy / Reputation / Re: How to Earn Trust on: October 24, 2017, 10:28:39 PM
Ideally you would receive trust when you proved to be trustworthy, which is when someone else risked something with you and you did not scam.

When on default trust levels then one has to follow a bit stricter rules when giving trust, in order to not bring the trustsystem out of balance. At the end it's not easy to gain trust. It takes a lot of time.

It's a good point. Anyone on the default trust list has a responsibility with every trust they give. Sometimes I believe certain default trust members are too quick to judge and banish users too quickly. Some of them give trust for just liking another person too which isn't how the trust system should be really.

Their actions weigh a lot in this community.
