6162  Economy / Economics / Re: Anyone want to help me tear this to shreds? on: September 09, 2013, 12:02:28 AM
I did some kind of roughly estimation before, with 1/10 of world's power supply to mine coins, one bitcoin will worth a bit more than one  million dollars

But as D&T mentioned, the daily coin supply is getting halved every 4 years, after the coin supply approach zero, it will be only transaction fees that require power consumption. With 1MB block size, 6 coin transaction fee per block is possible

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=285056.msg3048862#msg3048862

1/10 of the world´s power supply ? my thinking was that if bitcoin will go mainstream what would be the limit on the price ? 1/10 of world´s energy supply - now that would be a limit. bitcoin opponents will not let that happen, all this global warming for some crypto-ponzi ? the environmentalists will hate it and fight it. governments will be forced to act. i guess we should start developing heating systems for houses based on hashing. it could be argued that mining is only the by-product of those fancy new radiators. after all, that´s what miners are...
6163  Economy / Economics / will the bitcoin economy benefit from risk taking attitude of participants ? on: September 08, 2013, 11:45:57 PM
many bitcoin fans are gamblers, and despite of all the talk about hoarding and buy-and-hold-forever, my impression is that a lot of them are way above average when it comes to investing in new ideas. they/we seem to throw around bitcoins as if it were play money. is this strengthening the bitcoin economy, or is it dangerous ? please share your thoughts.

6168  Economy / Economics / Re: Why does bitcoin hate fiat money so much? on: September 07, 2013, 08:07:15 PM
I've actually decided I won't do business in paper anymore unless it's absolutely necessary.
How you buy food?
Bitcoin?

i've been looking up #bitcoin on instagram a lot lately. have been seeing more and more pictures of business popping up that accept bitcoin. i encourage instagram users to photograph and post the businesses / shops name and location that accept BTC using hashtags. if you have a shop, put a BTC accepted here logo in your window. this form of advertisement helps your business and the btc economy and makes it easier for folks who want to use bitcoin exclusively.

nice idea ! put up a thread  Smiley

6173  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: announcement: the international "when-bitcoin-reaches 1000,- $ party" on: September 06, 2013, 11:47:26 AM
Excuse me, but Frankfurt is one of the most boring, dull and ugly cities in Europe. Why Frankfurt?

I can propose many better locations, for example if you want to do it in Germany - why not Berlin? Party never ends in Berlin Wink

-we are not going to live there - just a wild party
-frankfurt airport easy to get good international connection. good/short connection to center
-EZB headquarter
-banking centre, we could party on their roofs
-frankfurt is neither boring/dull/ugly, topranking in all kinds of international city rankings

i consider berlin though, if the the folks want it to be there - yep, why not.
