BitInstant's btc-e reserves appeared to be fully funded this morning (~30g USD), and you could select in the menu to send to btc-e, but now btc-e is down, so that option is off.

At least they are not taking payments for broken methods any more.

How does one go about checking their reserves at any particular exchange?   Seems like that would be private info.

Cyberbegging.  Pathetic and laughable.

They paid one of my two outstanding transfers with a re-routing to Mt.Gox.    If they have given you that offer... and presuming they have significant reserves there, I suggest you guys take them up on it.

Smiley

If they had significant reserves at Mt. Gox, then they would make a withdrawal of Bitcoins from there, and be able to fund all reserves at all other places with those Bitcoins.  They would then instantly turn on the Cash to BTC function since they would have Bitcoins to send.  Since they haven't done any of this, it's pretty clear that they do not have significant reserves there or anywhere else.  This is further evidenced by the fact that you, along with all the people that have posted here and many others that don't even know about this thread, still have outstanding, unresolved orders.

The proof is in the pudding - this could all be resolved within a day if they actually had funds, in any form, to back up any of the transactions.  Again, the fact that this thread exists and people continue to send them money, followed by shock that their order hasn't arrived, is mind boggling to me.  I suspect even the Bitinstant people themselves are stunned that money keeps coming in.

And they paid off that other outstanding BTC-E payment with a Gox transfer.   Thanks Bitinstant.   That said, for anyone who is transferring funds that they would consider it a hardship or even significant emotional loss if the funds (sent with Bitinstant as the middleman) were to be lost, I'd recommend for those folks to stay away.   This game isn't for you.   For those (like myself) who have a very low overhead cost and am not going to sob over a few k, only then continue, and for now stick with Bitinstant to Gox transfers.   Don't have a Mt. Gox account?   It takes 5 minutes to create one.   I have at least forty accounts.   There's no reason to sit around waiting for 'reserves at BTC-E' or waiting for their cash to BTC address service to come back on line.

Note to Charlie (and anyone else who want to make Bitinstant like business... take a look at the Remit2India business model.  It's a billion $ business.   That's something you guys might want to look into. There's no reason you couldn't take a big bite out of those 'remit' or send money home market segments (hint: focus on Indian, Filipinos, and well... all of Central and South America).   Huge potential on fees and making interest on the float (maybe offer 'fee free' transfer for 3-5 day service to go alongside the $3.95 + X % that you are already charging for 1 hour service).     Whip out that calculator and see how much you can make interest wise on say a modest 'few' hundred million US$ float.... all for operating a 'free' service with the added bonus of 'pseudo' BTC anonymity.   If you guys came up with this thing and we were living in the same dorm or apartment complex, I would front the funds myself to cover any cash flow issues like this... alas, college was 15 years ago (sigh) and now I much prefer sipping my Maker's Mark surrounded by tanned honey bunnies.    And THEN... if things really still go tits up.... THEN you can really check out and live out your days in Costa Rica (or Thailand, like myself).

You might consider Dwolla to CampBx.   There's no need to have Bitinstant as the middle man in that transaction.   No long verification process as is the case with Dwolla to Mt.Gox.   Then it's a case of just making a Bitcoin transfer to Mt.Gox if that's where you do most of your trading.

... oh, and to stay on topic.... no transfer from Bitinstant to my Mt.Gox account 24 hours after emailing my account information to Rachel.... after she said that she could manually push that through while waiting for their BTC-E reserves (which I don't think anyone wants to wait for anymore.... more and more like waiting for a People Express or Braniff flight).

What's funny are the Nigerian scam types that are asking for help and donations that cropped up almost immediately.   No matter what the venue, there's a sub segment of humanity that has their hand out.

Same reply here as well.   Hoping they actually do it and that it's not just their new 'canned' reply of the day.  Because really, not having reserves in one exchange is a thin excuse when it only takes 1 hour (and more often less) to transfer between exchanges.   It's like saying... sorry, I can't pay you because my stack of 100's are in my pants pocket and not in my hand.

Indeed it is.   It's not much less if you want middle to upper tier care though in many other places as well.   The difference between private rooms and rooms where there are 8 other people in the ward for example can make a big difference when they give you the bill (but it also makes a big difference in how much rest you get as well... not to mention the emotional toll if someone in the same ward dies while you're there for example).

We give our children death sentences, that sounds a little better than murder.    That said, plenty of children also help their parents along to early deaths.

cancer bites.   My father in law is in remission from liver cancer for 6 years now.   The bill (estimated) to get us to this point has been about $330,000.   Not a disease for the poor.

Yes.  Have had a few Gox orders go through @ the advertised speed (well, a few hours actually) today and two days ago.  When it works, it's the bee's knees.
633  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin online pharmacy? on: February 23, 2013, 07:53:02 AM
That's the one! Swiss pharmacy not Canadian!

They're actually in India. "Swiss" just sounds better to give it a touch of undeserved legitimacy.

Confirmed.  Have bought from them before.   They ship fom India.   So does that JCM one... Indian as well, a little cheaper too.

I PM'ed him 48 hours ago with no reply.   That's an eternity for tech folks.   The only time I don't reply to emails and PM's is when I'm in the shower.

The fact that Charlie hasn't replied is disturbing.

That said, Thailand is nice this time of year (and most of the year for that matter).   My family is building some mid to upper market condominiums if you're interested.   Would be happy to deduct the funds you owe me towards a down payment.

Wonder if the next payment method to disappear will be Mt. Gox.... leaving the Bitcoin powerhouses of VirWox, Paypal, and VouchX.   Not even sure what that last thing is, but looks like it's time to dust off my role playing dice.

Can someone tell me what's going on with Bit Instant?

The consensus or at least the signs point to a classic age old business problem.... lack of cash flow.   Ripe for venture capital help as they are poised to be THE go to guys... are they with any firm in particular?

Sounds pretty good... except for that part of Bitfloor history where they put everyone's funds on HOLD/FROZEN for months.   If they were a bank they would have been sued into insolvency.
And Mt.Gox was hacked, and Coinbase was sending out transactions using unconfirmed inputs and messing up users balances, and BitInstant has issues with frequent complaints about delays in processing.

There aren't many perfect options.  At this point we just do what we can.

True.  And hope for better options.
