First of all, I would advise you, not to follow anyone's advice. Especially when you are trading, it is best to do own research and take a decision based on the self-research. Trust me, I have lost my 100% capital in my early days when I used to trade based on the opinion of the others. In my honest opinion, I think bitcoin is going to rise in the coming years but again, this is my personal opinion. I think it will be a panic time once bitcoins price will slump below 1800
Panic actually starts when it falls below 2000$ then it will be a free downfall. If the btc prices does not start to get stabilized or start rising a bit above 2500$ it will not be a good news for investors. Unless some good global economic news comes this may boost the prices to rise for now. Sometimes if most of the users do panic selling of bitcoin the rest of users who keep their bitcoin they are the one was benefited because everytime that happen the value starts to increase so high due to increasing of demand. I would prefer both. Gold is seen as an investment for centuries and it is very stable. On the other hand Bitcoin is the fastest growing investment out there but it is very volatile. An investment made in both will be safe as well as will be very profitable.

So my initial plan was to invest more into bitcoin on a weekly basis but with the possibility of a split on August 1st I figured I'd wait a little. If there would be a split, there would certainly be a drop in price so maybe a good opportunity to pick some more up rather than doing it now. Normally I tend to make these kind of decisions for myself but since I don't fully understand what will happen August 1st I figured this would be the best place to ask.

Not really an opportunity loss in my opinion if you already have a profit. You can sell your bitcoin and buy again in its deep dump, if you are in an exchange you can set always your BUY Order. When it is filled, then its another opportunity. Correct that not all the time when selling is happen is opportunity loss because if you are invest in short term if you see good profit already you would sell it and when the dump happen you should buy bitcoin again and wait for the pump again. I think opportunity loss will happen if some investor do the panic selling. Agree also with you mate, sometimes i do selling my bitcoin because i see the opportunity to earn bitcoin then i keep my money in bitcoin because i am waiting for the huge dump to happen then buy bitcoin again. The only site where I have been registered on where I see an option where you can invest in the casino is on yolodice.
