But they avoided that issue. Interesting info though. So what's this further unexplained delay?

*yawn* Reported. Tired of all the trolling. We can't even have a conversation in here without you butting in and being a dick. Don't you have a job, a hobby or something?

n0ne,

it would be better, IMHO, to have a single heatsink that covers both FPGAs to minimize thermal differences between them.

regards.

spiccioli.

I agree, it's just tough to find rectangle heat sinks that support fans.

These might work well, cheap too.

Interesting bit,

Just had a chat to Sonny, pertinent bits:

Quote
Hi Simon,

The PCB is indeed larger.  It's now 100x100.  We've moved all the components from the bottom up to the top (saving PCB manufacture and assembly cost) and created enough space for our 2nd on board regulator.  We were at 50w.  Now we're at 120w.

The enclosure has been redesigned as well to fit.  Consequently, we were able to move up to a 92mm fan as you suggested.  That gives us more airflow with an even lower db rating of 27.  It's whisper quiet.

I should have a photo for you tomorrow (possibly tonight)....  but I may be too damned excited to remember to send it until we get past the immediate workload.  Smiley

I also asked about delivery dates:

Quote
As long as everything tests out as we expect, deliveries will begin the end of this week.

Amazing what you can find out when you simply ask, isn't it.

Ah so much good news and a possible new pic with new enclosure! I hope it looks similar to the original version. Love that brushed metal look, but I bet it cost a premium so realistically I would rather have a cheap case(that cools well of course).

Can't wait to see these guys get reviewed, then I will throw my money at them. Tongue

*lifts whiskey glass*
Cheers BFL! Screw the trolls!

Come on guys lets keep it civil.

On-topic;
ButterflyLabs, Have you guys had any big breakthroughs since the new year? Still on schedule? Maybe some more pictures.  Cheesy
6354  Other / Off-topic / Re: 1GH/s, 20w, $700 (was $500) — Butterflylabs, is it for real? (Part 2) on: January 21, 2012, 08:20:33 PM

The only thing BFL needs to do is deliver product as ordered.

Which they already failed massively on...

My understanding is that if anyone with an active order is not happy about how this situation is progressing, they are free to get a refund at any time ... I'm not sure what the big deal is.  Huh

Now come one, that's to logical for these trolls. They don't even have money invested in these, they're just crying for the sake of crying.
6355  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Use Beagleboard/Pandaboard to run FGPA mining rig on: January 21, 2012, 08:11:29 AM
NA. I think it would be OK.  Its a pretty powerful liittle arm processor.
All you really need is just something to distribute work to the BFL units, server as a "hub" and connect to your pool.  All the hasing is done on the BFL (FPGA) in much the same context as a GPU does the work in a "normal" rig.

Oh ok I see. The idea is to use one of these to be the controller for all the BFL boxes. Neat, would make things more stream line.
6356  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Use Beagleboard/Pandaboard to run FGPA mining rig on: January 21, 2012, 07:05:56 AM
haha yea maybe it went over my head. I'm a bit new to this FPGA stuff. The way I under stand it i RaspberryPi board with it's on-board chip would be way to weak. So I'm guessing the idea is to control something else with it?

ps. I'm drunk, be nice Cheesy
6357  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Use Beagleboard/Pandaboard to run FGPA mining rig on: January 21, 2012, 06:51:47 AM
Estimated hashes? Grin
As a start 900 - 1000 MHash

WAT? how? on what board. Let's break this down.

ps. The Raspberry Pi seems like it wouldn't hash much... But $25, I guess you can just buy LOTS of them.

I can't believe you guys are crying because someone might of made some mistakes. Clearly you guys are all perfect and when you build a product, your R&D is perfect and never a mistake is made. That's pretty amazing! I wish when I designed something I never made mistakes.

In reality people have high expectations on a product they are developing and in the hype might make mistakes in detailing some specs because they're exited. Not to mention all the stuff I have seen(yes I have been through the threads) on here and their site, if it is a scam it's a pretty damn good one. To go to the length of designing something that looks so real, and to be knowledgeable on the subject. Impressive.

Have you guys ever thought about heading over the office? Maybe they'll be courteous and give a small tour.

Go for it.

The crap on this thread reminds me when the BF3 beta(the release for the matter) came out. People fucking flipped there shit because it wasn't PERFECT. I see this crap a lot now in Beta tests of multiple games. People expect so much and never leave space for reality. Everyone is so damn spoiled, they over hype everything and it never lives up. Let's all be realistic.
