But they avoided that issue. Interesting info though. So what's this further unexplained delay?

*yawn* Reported. Tired of all the trolling. We can't even have a conversation in here without you butting in and being a dick. Don't you have a job, a hobby or something?

I don't see how that message is trolling.  BFL claims to have taken a course of action that would avoid potential delay... and then pushed back the release another 4-6 weeks.  What gives?

Your right. When companies plan to release stuff, everything goes to plan and it's ALWAYS out on time! No exceptions! This seem fishy now that I think about it! /s

Good thing people don't get uppity every time a company is late on there release dates, oh wait.

also, Azelphur, the guy who confirms he has a rig - was inactive since june and returned to the forums right on time.

To be fair I don't understand CSS it's way after my time.

When I spoke to wondermine it's not like he was forcing his FPGA solution on me.  I plan on purchasing the core probably by the end of the week and ordering a board through a retailer.  He suggested other types of FPGA's that I could use and where to purchase them and other possible solutions.  In fact to purchase the nano board from him pre-configured isn't a horrible deal considering it's actually cheaper through him if you consider the shipping from the retailer.  Granted having photos of it going would be nice and I still have my suspicions however from the sounds of it I'm the only person who actually got in contact with him.

That's good to hear. Maybe this is a terrible launch, or it's a scam. It could of been better to get the conversation going and give more information instead of starting off asking for money. Both of the 2 post he has, is him asking for $10/3btc to get on his boat... Pretty terrible way to start a project.

We'll see where this goes.
6305  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Nanominer - Modular FPGA Mining Platform on: January 30, 2012, 11:06:05 AM
So he registered the domain 2 days ago I don't know what the big deal is - I don't have a bunch of domains already registered for services I haven't thought up of yet.

If you bothered to really look into it his contact info is a University email address.  If something goes wrong you have his name and where you can find him for most of the day I mean unless of course that email account is really his /conspiracy.

Sure, I register domains all the time too. But he is also a new user with 2 posts, and he's using whoisproof.com to hide. He comes in here to ask for money. I love to see development in FPGA, believe me. But don't come in here asking for money and making empty promises with a  new website made in HTML.

To many Red flags.

n0ne,

it would be better, IMHO, to have a single heatsink that covers both FPGAs to minimize thermal differences between them.

regards.

spiccioli.

I agree, it's just tough to find rectangle heat sinks that support fans.

Interesting bit,

Just had a chat to Sonny, pertinent bits:

Quote
Hi Simon,

The PCB is indeed larger.  It's now 100x100.  We've moved all the components from the bottom up to the top (saving PCB manufacture and assembly cost) and created enough space for our 2nd on board regulator.  We were at 50w.  Now we're at 120w.

The enclosure has been redesigned as well to fit.  Consequently, we were able to move up to a 92mm fan as you suggested.  That gives us more airflow with an even lower db rating of 27.  It's whisper quiet.

I should have a photo for you tomorrow (possibly tonight)....  but I may be too damned excited to remember to send it until we get past the immediate workload.  Smiley

I also asked about delivery dates:

Quote
As long as everything tests out as we expect, deliveries will begin the end of this week.

Amazing what you can find out when you simply ask, isn't it.

Ah so much good news and a possible new pic with new enclosure! I hope it looks similar to the original version. Love that brushed metal look, but I bet it cost a premium so realistically I would rather have a cheap case(that cools well of course).

Can't wait to see these guys get reviewed, then I will throw my money at them. Tongue

*lifts whiskey glass*
Cheers BFL! Screw the trolls!

Come on guys lets keep it civil.

On-topic;
ButterflyLabs, Have you guys had any big breakthroughs since the new year? Still on schedule? Maybe some more pictures.  Cheesy

The only thing BFL needs to do is deliver product as ordered.

Which they already failed massively on...

My understanding is that if anyone with an active order is not happy about how this situation is progressing, they are free to get a refund at any time ... I'm not sure what the big deal is.  Huh

Now come one, that's to logical for these trolls. They don't even have money invested in these, they're just crying for the sake of crying.
6320  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Use Beagleboard/Pandaboard to run FGPA mining rig on: January 21, 2012, 08:11:29 AM
NA. I think it would be OK.  Its a pretty powerful liittle arm processor.
All you really need is just something to distribute work to the BFL units, server as a "hub" and connect to your pool.  All the hasing is done on the BFL (FPGA) in much the same context as a GPU does the work in a "normal" rig.

Oh ok I see. The idea is to use one of these to be the controller for all the BFL boxes. Neat, would make things more stream line.
