I suppose if you have built your world around the idea that the government is an evil institution who's secret plans are to get you, then you will read this as evidence of their scheming.
Here in the real world a document like this is a welcomed addition to the legal precedent. It is the most positive document I have yet seen from a regulatory body. You can all send FinCen a tip from the profit you are about to realize due to this.
If your problem is that any regulation is unwelcome, then stick to shitcoins. Under no legal scenario are you going to be able to make fiat money off bitcoin and not pay taxes. The moment you turn your BTC into $USD you are using THEIR money and must play by THEIR rules. You can't have it both ways.
+1 with a few sentences they could have done much harm to the bitcoin price, which is in some critical phase anyway. and they know that. if they would want to destroy it anyway, there would be no need for this soft talk. they decided not to destroy/fight/harm it. that is a good sign. there is some protection/pro bitcoin lobbying going on already. maybe the governments actually welcome this new competitor to old-fashioned banking. bankers have lots of political power. sometimes it is not really clear who is the one with more power: bankers or politicians. politicians know that we know and that is emberrassing. if a competitor for the banking moloch is rising, it can be used by politicians as a tool to regain some influence. if there is a power you are struggling with, anything that weakens your opponent is welcome. the higher ranking a politician is the more strategic his views are. going after bitcoin only because some traditonal bankers say so would be a terrible strategy for anyone who feels the power of the bankers daily. this does not mean that all the bankers hate bitcoin. most of them think in terms of profit. if they can profit with bitcoin they will do so. bookshops sell kindle devices. banks will sell/handle bitcoin. they will be happy to dig their own gaves as long as they get payed for... |

der kurs steigt nicht weil es inzwischen zuviele trittbrettfahrer gibt, die alle an der potentiellen marktkapitalisierung von bitcoin saugen.
-alle altcoin: jeder $ oder € der in irgendeinen altcoin geht, geht schon mal nicht richtung bitcoin. das sind mittlerweile millionen in fiat, die fehlen. es ist nicht unbedingt die schiere masse, die hier fehlt, aber es sind die kleinen wichtigen "up-impulse" die fehlen und den kursverlauf weniger attraktiv aussehen lassen. so werden andere dazu verleitet zu zögern, geplante btc käufe zu verschieben.
-ripple: ich versteh es zwar nicht, aber die marktkapitalisierung von ripple/xrp ist inzwischen größer als die von bitcoin. wenn all dieses geld in bitcoin gegangen wäre, dann wäre der kurs heute doppelt so hoch.

I read it a little differently. It sounds like they're claiming a wide territory: Those who are intermediaries in the transfer of virtual currencies from one person to another person, or to another location, are money transmitters that must register with FinCEN as MSBs, unless an exception applies. Right, an intermediary, or a third party is a money transmitter. A miner moving Bitcoin to an exchange has no middleman. A miner purchasing goods directly from a store uses no third party. It's the intermediary that has to register, not the miner. that is how i understand it. miners get rewarded for the computing power they contribute. the reward is in bitcoin. no third party. |

Over all I'm positively surprised: What are the threats and opportunities associated with this new payment Didn't expect to even see this word on their agenda. there is some pro bitcoin lobbying going on already. when they took down LR they had a press conference and towards the end of that press conference they said they are not aiming at btc and they see the opportunities. some of those guys hopefully hold some coins... |

im gegenteil, ich steige grad richtig ein ! ich setze alles auf knc. wollte eigentlich 10 k avalon chips bestellen. sehr grenzwertige abwägung. die sind zwar 4 - 6 wochen früher am start, aber ich hätte noch mal 50 k € investieren müssen um daraus fertige miner bauen zu lassen. für die 500 chips ... hm... denke ich werde 2.5 € in die hand nehmen und daraus miner bauen lassen. dann dürften sie sich gut verkaufen lassen. es sei denn jemand macht mir ein angebot, dem ich nicht widerstehen kann. gekostet haben die chips 43 btc und sind zefirs batch 7 500 chips = ca. 14 1 GH/s edit: ja, giga natürlich... und 500 x .282 = 141 (sry) |

If we have a 15% growth until September i.e difficulty = ~54M or hashrate = ~392Th...we will need to add ~2.5Th per day to the network starting today. ...hopefully we will not see that. Danke für das Verständnis, leider hatte der Verkäufer meines ersten Bitcoin ca. 1sec vor absenden meiner Nachricht auf bitcoin den Kauf bestätigt.... Zum Thema: Die Kursschwankungen machen den BTC zu einer gemütlichen Währung, da man in der Regel nicht direkt auf ihn angewiesen ist. Er bevorzugt den Käufer, der auf einen entsprechend günstigen Kurs warten kann, bringt aber eventuelle Nachteile, wenn ein Verkäufer zwecks Investition in eine andere Währung wechseln muß. Den Kurs bestimmt der Markt, jeder Teilnehmer kann seinen (zugegebenermaßen kleinen) Einfluß geltend machen. Dies unterscheidet ihn vom subventionierten, kontrollierten real existierenden Kapitalismus. Ich finde die Idee einer Währung, die vom "Fußvolk" kontrolliert wird, spannend. Ohne massive Intervention von aussen / oben sollte der Kursverlauf tendenziell steigen, die Schwankungen kann man dabei als Würze betrachten. Ich bin gespannt, ob sich diese Theorie auch bestätigen wird. Zumindest habe ich ein gutes Gefühl bei meinem spekulativstem Kauf meines Lebens, einem BTC.  (Dies sehe ich weder als singuläre Aktion, noch als Investition, sondern als Protest gegen die Finanzpolitik mit zusätzlichem Spassfaktor und Schnäppchenoption) willkommen ! bitcoin ist ein bisschen wie die rote pille bei matrix. wer ihn/sie schluckt sieht die welt danach mit anderen augen. der hier gefällt mir noch besser: "Bitcoin is like a variation of Schrödinger's Cat. Also hier ist mir derzeit etwas zu viel BlaBla und zu wenig Kursverlauf. Deshalb:  Wie wir sehen können ist der € seit beginn diesen Jahres massiv abgestürzt und hat wie es beim platzen einer Blase üblich ist, im April den zu erwartenden "Dead-Cat Bounce" hingelegt. Mittlerweile scheint sich der € bei etwa 0.012 Bitcoin stabilisiert zu haben und könnte durchaus sein, dass sich der Kurs in der nächsten Zeit noch etwas erholt. Investoren sei dennoch zur Vorsicht geraten, um hier eine längerfristige Wachstumstendenz ablesen zu können ist es noch zu früh. Ach ein noch tieferer Absturz des € ist durchaus möglich, falls durch weitere schlechte Neuigkeiten noch mehr Investoren ihr Vertrauen in die Virtuelle Währung verlieren. looool € is dead. alle, die denken - wow, jetzt gibt es endlich wieder billige € werden sich die finger verbrennen. ich sehe kurzen support bei tausendstel, und dass war es dann. |
