6381  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Essentials of picking an exchange & the top 11 exchanges on: August 17, 2018, 06:41:44 AM
The article posted in the OP is very informative already.
You can get so many pointers from that single article alone.
For me, I'll just stick to big ones where I keep my bitcoin.
For tokens or other altcoins, I'll just trade them to exchanges where they are currently tradeable.
But afterwards, getting bitcoin/eth out of it, I usually convert it to doge for transfer purposes.
You know, very minimal charge as compared to bitcoin.
And then, send it to my trusted exchange where I keep my other coins.
And for me, up until now, polo and bittrex are my trusted ones.
6382  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Essentials for Traders on: August 17, 2018, 03:43:18 AM
Trading is risky in every market and if you are not well prepared you might ended up losing money.
Here's some example of the skills and things that you must have before you start trading:

1. Capital - Amount that you are willing to lose and you might don't need in the next 6mos. If you want good amount of profit, you can start with a higher capital but since you are just newbie start with small and invest big later on.

2. Knowledge - You must equip yourself with this thing and keep on learning because in trading you can learn even you lose money. You must know how to execute the basic, buy and sell and study more about the charts, don't depend to anyone.

3. Patience - You must be more patient in this kind of market, there's no room for your emotion here and your trading decision must really based on your study and not on any FUD news.

This 3 things can help you a lot on your journey, don't just focus on money make time for you to learn more and profit will come later.
I think those three things are indispensable not only in trading but in many things, the problem is how to do it especially on knowledge, most of them can not implement it when they know that 3 things are very in need.

Those are basic things to consider before investing on anything, even not in crypto.
I like point #2 - don't depend to anyone. You need to do your due diligence.
You are alone in this battle. No one will help you in trading. They will give you pieces of advice but that's it.
But for #3 -actually FUD sometimes help. Just like what others said. You need to learn how that works in trading.
Every coin or token is different. You should study first the trend's behavior when fud happens. But that's only a guide.
It might not work on your next target. So be alert in the trading world. You need a lot of time, patience and understanding if you want to be a real trader.
6383  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoins and a country's economy on: August 17, 2018, 01:21:47 AM
One example of seeing how bitcoin is affecting a certain country's economy is thru remittance.
Nowadays, more and more people are using the blockchain to send remittances to their home country.
Low transaction fee as compared to WU or other money transfer payment system.
With the rise of cryptocurrencies, those expats and other foreign workers are learning that crypto is not bad at all.
They are saving time and money, just few clicks on their computer or phone, they can send it right away.
That's why crypto is a big threat to those regular money transfer institutions.
So much projects here are now launched to be the new money transfer system. And it's a multi-million dollar industry after all.
So yeah, one way or another bitcoin or crypto is somehow affecting someone's economy.
6384  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Until when does the price of crypto currency continue to fall? on: August 16, 2018, 11:57:19 PM
What do you think of other crypto currency users, what do you think about when the price of crypto currency goes down like this?

Don't know if this is a serious question or just badly worded but...

The crypto markets will stop falling when the sellers and buyers are balanaced out. Then it will trade sideways.

It will go up when there are more buyers than sellers.

Its falling for many reasons, however mostly due to people getting emotional about losing money who bought earlier in the year and are sitting at 50-90% losses in their portfolio.

No one can predict if the cryptocurrencies will continue to fall because all coins on coinmarketcap is unpredictable.

However, look at the price movement today seems the price of other coins and bitcoins stopped falling so I think the bear market is almost done.

Since bitcoin has a strong support and it has a strong resistance at $6k value, it's possible that the price will rise up again.

Check the Coinmarketcap there are two exchanges that the volume suddenly rise quickly. So, I think there are big whales investing back again to hold and wait for the price rise again.

Yeah, he needs to re-phrase his question. Maybe, he wants to know the perspectives of other crypto users.
And yes, you'll never know the actual occurrence in the market so it's really hard to predict.
If you are already a long time trader, you know at least when to risk your money.
And you know how to strategize not to lose a lot of money.
I think, this is just another phase of bitcoin price dip, it will still go up.
Remember, crypto world is becoming bigger and bigger so it means, bitcoin has still future.
6385  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ATM Malware Found For Sale In The Dark Web! on: August 16, 2018, 10:39:15 PM
Is the software for these ATM machines open source and in github somewhere?

ATM's often do use some embedded windows as operating system  Undecided
Anything that runs on top is (most probably) not disclosed to the public.

I wouldn't be surprised if there were a ton of vulnerabilities which could be exploited with full access to the device.

I wouldn't trust these machines at all, they are probably keeping a log of all the movements and handling them to authorities to get your ass in trouble.

They definitely keep logs, such as timestamps, duration, withdrawal/deposit, camera, etc..

Yes, it's not really surprising that such kind of activity is already on the works as we speak.
Illegal activities are always there and they are just looking for possible targets.
And currently, circulation of money in crypto market is very lucrative one, which makes it a good object of attack.
But, of course there will be counter-measures to address such possible hacks.

Or the other side of seeing this situation is what buwaytress stated.
6386  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH, road down to $50? on: August 16, 2018, 09:53:02 PM
In my opinion, Ethereum once was at $ 50 and might go back to $ 50, even though it's hard to imagine. Maybe you have experienced a big leap and saw Ethereum grow in the past, so I think you should be better prepared for something like this. Maybe we still don't believe Ethereun's situation at the moment, but I'm still very optimistic that this is only a response from global finance and maybe next week Ethereum is in the range of $ 400 again.

Anything can happen in crypto. There's a lot to happen even within the 24-hr period.
Sometimes it is like forever if you are a trader. Waiting makes you crazy.
It might go down to $50 and it might not. And you should be prepared whatever happens next.
That's crypto life. You have no guarantee of the outcome. You need to be strong if you stay to be a holder and believe its capability to withstand the current scenario in the crypto market.
6387  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin prices are controlled. Accidentally or intentionally? on: August 16, 2018, 03:15:32 AM
Most likely on the contrary, the price of bitcoin is controlled only by people who do not know what to do now, because everyone's opinion is divergent. Whales now do absolutely nothing.
If that was the case, this market would be a complete mess (more than it already is). The reason that this market isn't a mess is because of whales calculating their moves instead of impulsively acting like retail traders do.

Whales are just minding their own business and will do what they can to financially benefit from every possible market scenario. Pumps or dumps for them are as profitable, there is no difference.

With futures and other tools that they can use manipulation is more profitable than ever before. This is the reality we have to cope with till regulations are frightening enough to discourage large scale manipulation.

Yes, whales really are whales, they don't care who suffers from their actions.
It's all about business for them. So it's not that they are doing absolutely nothing.
They are always there, waiting for a good timing to attack and do their part.
They know what they are up to and you can't stop them.
You just need to be careful with your own investments. They don't care who they are hitting on.

6388  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Some ICO is not scam on: August 16, 2018, 12:11:33 AM
The OP makes sense and I think it's pretty obvious what he pointed out.
If you are an intelligent or smart investor, you need those basic points for your own gain.
You should do your own due diligence. It's your responsibility to do your own homework.
I've invested in some ICOs, pretty legit but the marketing is not good enough.
You need to look how the team can stick with their plans. Are they really capable of delivering what they promised?
Do they have enough resources to continue their developments, and not be a hindrance to fulfil their mission?
Just few questions to think about before investing your money to an unknown project.
6389  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do you actually think major coins will be live in 2025? on: August 15, 2018, 10:25:47 PM
Here's another thing that I'm really curious about.

Crypto will be much bigger by then.

Does that mean there'll actually be more coins by then or will the shit-thrown-at-the-wall phase we're in now drive people into gathering around a much smaller number?

There'll always be plenty on the fringes but I expect major exchanges to be much bigger and much more discerning about what they list. I don't think a shitcoin will be able to spring out of nowhere like they have done this year.

It'll be very much a two tier market and a coin will have to be extremely special for the gatekeepers to let it in.

I believe also that by that time, major exchanges will set their standards higher and be more picky in listing new coins.
So many crap coins are still sprouting everywhere. But gullible users are everywhere also.
Riding the hype, getting a lil amount of BTC and gone.
I hope, creating someone else's coin or token will have more stringent process to follow.
As more and more people are joining the crypto market everyday.
6390  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Should I stop trading in this bear market? on: August 14, 2018, 11:59:34 PM
I think it's better if you check the other coins because many coins right now have been raising its price.

Look at this list of gainers https://coinmarketcap.com/gainers-losers/

So, don't focus on a single coin because not all coins are always the same price movement. Since bitcoin is supported and has strong resistance at $6k price that I think it's a good opportunity to buy bitcoin and wait for bitcoin price to rise again to make a profit.

Don't focus to USD-BTC or USD-Altcoin try to multiple gains by BTC/altcoin or Altcoin to BTC to maximize your profit.

That's very correct. If you are really a trader, you have so many options to look at.
You can always go back to bitcoin anyway. And do what is necessary to gain at least a lil bit of profit even if the market is not so nice.
Sometimes, checking other altcoins or tokens might help you in your trading.
Just the right move and you can get your profit easily. Not to wait too long to get something.

6391  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BTC what is really going on ? here is the answer for all your questions! on: August 14, 2018, 07:52:37 AM
And where is your secret trend my friend. I hope you didnt loose much. Please take lesson from that. When you paint something that looks great and worked 10 times beafore it dasnt mean anything. Beacuse market is different everyday.
Ive refreshed this topic to warn everyone. Market works different. Dont ever buy because someone on forum said that. Even if he drow beatifull picture for that.

That's one of the important lessons here in crypto.
If you buy an idea because someone said somewhere, then, you are heading to the wrong direction.
Sometimes, you need to trust only your self. So in case something goes awry, the blame is only on you.
Because if you follow whatever somebody, someone is saying. You will go crazy and you will blame others that really don't care about your decisions.
6392  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to choose the best exchange service and save your time? on: August 14, 2018, 04:03:11 AM
Why is it that I've just encountered now the site that you are promoting?
If it's the best exchange service, I should have at least heard it as I've been in crypto for so long already.
And been using like cryptopia, polo, bittrex, and other known exchanges.
Or maybe, you are catering different region, which, I'm not a part of.
But for me, I need to stick to established exchanges.
But, for some coins that need to do fast trading, I use lesser known exchanges and whatever I got, I immediately send it to my trusted exchange.
6393  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Jihan Wu in half a billion in losses after BCash trade on: August 13, 2018, 11:56:55 PM
We all did bad investments sometimes I guess. I don't think he risked more than he can afford.

Yes, I believe that also. He's a businessman, he knows what he's doing.
The losses will not make him dirt poor.
Unlike, most of us who are only small time investors.
We need to be very careful with our investments.
Otherwise, our hard-earned money is gone and we will be left nothing.
6394  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investors are behind it on: August 13, 2018, 11:17:13 PM
I have  noticed a trend these days as regards the dump in the prices of newly listed tokens on exchanges. Before bounty hunters get paid, the coin itself would have dumped and yet some will still blame bounty hunters.
Some bounty hunters believe in holding and selling later at better price, while some will sell at the current market price.
Yet, i would say that investors are most times the masterminds behind it.
Alright and that's why before try to buy the new coin and it will be much better for you to calculate how much the real price of token and i would say that the pre-sale price will become the real value for each token.
Consider the pre-sale investors will always dump their stash as soon as possible

That's what I noticed also. If you really believed on a certain project, buy it after ICO.
The price in exchanges is relatively cheap. And it continues to decline.
Very few projects gain their momentum and increase their price.
I've learned my part also, invested in few ICOs that I thought is really promising.
But no, the price keeps on falling. That's the usual trend.
Whales or big investors know how to manipulate the market.
That's sad for small-time players.
6395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH so popular on: August 13, 2018, 09:35:01 AM
Eth has become popular, do you know the reasons?
I think people are too stress with BTC decreasing, then they sell BTC out to buy more ETh.

You are funny. If the reason why ETH is popular is because people are selling BTC to buy ETH, then by now, ETH should closed to $2000. But i will tell you the reason why ETH is popular. It is because of the technology behind it. The smart contract which enable new company or exisiting companies raise fund to developed their project or expand their company. It is an easy way to raise fund and move your future closer to you.

With the rise of ICOs, more and more projects are using the ethereum platform.
One reason is that it's relatively easy to create your eth token.
One guide you can use -
https://steemit.com/ethereum/@maxnachamkin/how-to-create-your-own-ethereum-token-in-an-hour-erc20-verified
I tried also following those steps but I haven't verified what I did.
Maybe, in the future, if I really wanted to create my own token and deploy it, why not?
That's why there are a lot of projects running the airdrop thing but one thing to consider is the gas fee, that's why most of them are asking for donations to send the free tokens. At least cover the gas fees that will be incurred.
6396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as the heart of all coins on: August 13, 2018, 02:21:40 AM
bitcoin is the heart of cyptocurrencies because it is the pioneer in the market, it is the most tangible and stable coins that could by far be the gauge of other coins and altcoins too, just like dollar that is the universal currency, bitcoin represents cryptos and therefore the price of bitcoins really dictates the market price of other cryptos such as altcoins.

Well-said there. No matter what, ethereum or bitcoincash or any other popular coin or token are just secondary.
As you noticed even in cmc, a certain token or altcoin has always equivalent rate in btc other than in usd.
So even if bitcoin's price is really not nice for the past months or has disadvantages in terms of tx fees, I believe there's something in store for bitcoin holders.
6397  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is important for ICO analysis? on: August 12, 2018, 11:58:23 PM
For me there are the most important:
1 - Company
2 - Team
3 - Idea + Solutions
4 - Market + Problem
5 - Partners + Investors
6 - Community

I'd add practicability and usability of the token and the service/product offered by the project.
And I'd like to add economics of the token. How the project is planning to reward the token holders.

Those are basically the parameters to look at.
Even if the idea is so great or very innovative, you need to look at the other side of the coin.
Will it be used by ordinary individuals or just selected ones?
Without large base of consumers, the project is basically dead or will survive, but hard to have growth in price.
6398  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: COINBUNDLE... the next big project in the blockchain industry on: August 12, 2018, 11:55:19 PM
Can you give their official website or ANN thread if there's any?
Everyone is claiming to be the next big thing in crypto.
Want to check the authenticity first of the project. Thanks.
6399  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency will survive on: August 12, 2018, 10:53:36 PM
Yeah that's true but some bowls are bigger than others..  That's why the flow of crypto is not in all our hands but it varies in whose hand it is..  Whales control the flow most times

You have a point on that. Whales are always there and just waiting the right moment to attack.
But so much had been said, I believe that cryptocurrencies will survive.
The question is, who among them will strive?
No doubt, bitcoin is always there. Because of its enormous usage already even to ordinary crypto users.
Most of the time, it's always the top choice if you are a beginner, and later on, once you divulge yourself in the world of crypto, you tend to vary your choices as you learn more coins that have more advantages than bitcoin.
But the bottomline, cryptocurrencies will survive especially that we are now in a digital age.

What are ways to do a proper audit?
You'll have to pay a developer with experience in solidity to go through your contract for bugs, etc.
Zeppelin is one of the many companies that audits smart contracts.
Quote
and does it always have to be on ropstan network?
Ropsten test net is one of the test nets for ethereum where you can test your smart contract to see if it does what you want it to do.
You don't have to use the ropsten testnet, there's another called Kovan, and you can also deploy your own ethereum block chain locally on your computer using geth.

Yes, there are a lot of reputable auditors nowadays.
Quantstamp is another one.
Just search and read first the feedback of those auditors.

Btw, maybe you can move this section to altcoin discussion - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=67.0
