Funding Update:

We have made a big effort to reach out to as many of my contacts as possible. It resulted in as many as 100 incoming emails per day. With few exceptions, every email was politely responded to.

At this point I would rate our case as better than I anticipated. There are more people who like to continue a conversation with me than I have time available. That is a good thing – it gives me more choices to be selective on how I can best use my time wisely.

This is a long process and will take 2 to 3 months to complete. The conversation stage has started. I have already spoken to a few, with more scheduled. So far, it looks promising that we will be sufficiently funded, with good likelihood of reaching the maximum.

Aside from the benefits of getting funded, this is a great awareness campaign for DNotes and DNotes Global. We are gaining a lot of respect and exposure. Many have expressed an interest to work with us in collaborative projects. And there are a few interesting ones. We are also building good ground-work for NextGen VC.

This is immensely demanding but well worth the hard work. I appreciate your continued support to keep our community engaged. Once successfully funded, DNotes will be taking a very big step forward. Years from now, there will be some who would look back and ask why they did not see the opportunity to participate when things were so obvious. Perhaps human is inherently dismissive and greedy at the wrong time.

Very nice to hear that the funding is going well Grin Thank you very much for the update and good luck!

Great update, and it sounds like all that hard work is laying the right foundation for near and long-term success. The exposure is extremely valuable, and it's fantastic that so many investors will be able to better understand that digital currency has real potential beyond being just a speculative asset. Over time, that message will penetrate the mainstream media consciousness as well, and they too will begin to focus on something more than today's prices. That will help to shift that "dismissive and greedy" attitude that you describe, as more people recognize the technology's true potential.

FCA Issues Cryptocurrency Investment Scam Warning

https://dcebrief.com/fca-issues-cryptocurrency-investment-scam-warning/

And what does this have to do with this project? From what is available on the site there is a link to the regulator on his website https://www.fca.org.uk/scamsmart/cryptocurrency-investment-scams and there are not in the project names of this project. Or do you know what the controller has not yet heard?

Hi LaScuderia, and thanks for the question. As DNotes outlined in his response, DCEBrief's mission is about more than just reporting on news related to this project. In fact, the lion's share of news and opinion on that site covers issues and ideas that often have no direct relation to DNotes. However, they are all stories and ideas that impact the industry in a variety of ways. Sometimes they are updates on how governments are responding to the digital currency revolution. In other instances, these stories track new innovations, new companies, or notable public statements from industry experts, influencers, and thought leaders.

Your broader question may have been why the link to that news article was placed in the DNotes community forum here. You'll find that we do that for every newly-posted article on DCEBrief, DNotesEDU. Some who pop into this community may not be subscribed to the DCEBrief newsletter, and we just like to provide an opportunity for them to get quick access to any posts that might interest them. It also helps to notify regular members of the community as well. You'll also notice that members of the community sometimes post links to articles at other sites, with news or opinion that they think might be of interest to the community. It's all just part of our common commitment to learn and share information.

We take pride in the fact that the DNotes community is fully engaged in the digital currency revolution, and eager to stay up to date on all the rapid changes that are going on around us as we push forward toward the realization of the future of money. Thanks for being a part of that.

Coinbase CEO: Crypto Mass Adoption May Take ‘Quite Some Time’

https://dcebrief.com/coinbase-ceo-crypto-mass-adoption-may-take-quite-some-time/

"He then responded to a question about cryptocurrency’s actual usage rate by acknowledging that people are not commonly using it in “brick and mortar” stores. Rather, he said, the early use cases are things like online crowdfunding, gaming, and new user-generated content sites.""

Realistically this is all cryptocurrency needs to do to become a viable alternative to fiat money. If it becomes the preferred vehicle for many in certain niches of an economy, it then has a strong launchpad from which to push forward into a more mainstream adoption. Digital currency may begin as an online electronic payment platform, but that will be the beginning of brick and mortar stores wanting to take part -- when they notice that a majority of people have this "cryptocurrency" that they have available to spend, they would be unwise not to allow people to spend it at their shop.

That is correct. The internet was the same way. In the early days, it was relatively rare to find a brick and mortar company that even bothered to maintain a website. Those that did generally did it for the novelty - though a few more farsighted companies may have recognized its true potential. Few even attempted to use it for commerce. Once a few companies demonstrated its effectiveness for marketing, sales, and overall customer engagement, however, the rush was on. Today, it's difficult to find a company of any size that doesn't have some sort of web presence - and firms routinely use their online platforms for customer transactions. It's just part of our lives now, and few of us give it a second thought.

Armstrong seems to recognize this, which is probably why he - like many of us who rolled with the currents of the internet revolution - understands that crypto acceptance and adoption will take some time. The full benefits of the internet weren't realized overnight, after all. While it was revolutionary, it was also evolutionary. The early use cases that he mentioned are part of crypto's evolutionary process, as they demonstrate that the innovation can work. That will encourage even more use cases, some of which will hit closer to home for the average citizen. And as you note, once crypto proves its worth online, it's only a matter of time before those brick and mortar operations begin to accept it as well.

Saudi Standing Committee Says Crypto Trading Illegal in Kingdom

https://dcebrief.com/saudi-standing-committee-says-crypto-trading-illegal-in-kingdom/

Right, in a dusty corner of the world where men drive solid gold cars and women are just now ALLOWED to drive (in some areas). One of the richest countries on earth is scared of Bitcoin? What a joke. Is religion the catalyst? Doubtful, many Muslem clerics have now declared Bitcoin is allowed under Sharia Law so that can't be the reason. Don't like the fact that you can't control it perhaps? Protecting the people from themselves? Maybe, world wars have been started over this fallback reasoning. Once again, the rich get richer and the common people suffer. But, crypto will continue to be traded there and everywhere else on the planet because it really cannot be stopped entirely.

Even if there are no exchanges in country, there are plenty around the world and there's the Tor protocol. Legal or not, people will continue to trade with or without, their government's blessing.  See China for a case in point. The final word in the title of the article provides the answer to why this is happening. Small minds are not exclusive to the poor and powerless. But, really, where is the threat? The Billionaire Oil Sheeks, Kings and Princes are acting like they have something to fear. Do they?

Perhaps. But lets be realistic, the entire value of the crypto market does not come close to the countries sales of oil in a few months. The continuing cry of "we are protecting the people" rings less true and is falling on deaf ears in most societies. People know when they are being suppressed, used or downright lied to but precious few will take a stand. Even in the Middle East, if populations fought for their rights it would be noticed. Problem is, most populations are complacent, they have learned to live with things the way they are so why make trouble, why try to change the way things work and risk loosing even more freedom?

And this is the problem, complacency breads control and loss of freedom. Crypto is, and always will be, a means of regaining some of that freedom. Granted, you may have to go underground in many places to exercise that freedom but, it's still better than living an oppressed life without hope. And that is one of the greatest benefits of crypto, hope. Being able to see a future where things are fair and equal and money is just a tool not a God.

You are absolutely right, when laws become unjust people will find their own way, and disregard for the law becomes common practice. I think it's perfectly fair to issue a warning, there are certainly dangers and the potential for losing your money by accident or by theft, but declaring it illegal is not the answer. The legal system will take care of the bad actors. The rest is knowledge and tools, that is exactly why we have created DNotesVault, DNotesEDU, DCEBrief, and CryptoMoms.

It's also worth noting that the committee's statement did not include a threat of punishment for crypto users. That may have been an omission, but I doubt it. If they felt seriously threatened by the technology, I see no reason why the leadership wouldn't just issue a decree outlining clear penalties for anyone who trades or tries to use digital currency. In a way, that declaration of illegality could be read as a clarification of crypto's status within the kingdom. In other words, "digital currency is not recognized as a legal currency in this country."

Though it wouldn't shock me to see the Saudis announce tomorrow that digital currency trading is now punishable by imprisonment. Governments sometimes do crazy things...

Personally, I just see this as yet another example of authorities struggling to come to grips with a fundamentally democratizing technology that they're ill-equipped to control. It brings to mind Russia's see-saw approach to Bitcoin a couple of years ago, when it looked like they were serious about passing laws to criminalize ownership and use of digital currency but then backed away from the idea. It may be some time before we see world leaders begin to recognize that they cannot effectively prevent technological innovation from taking root and transforming the world. If only we had a King Canute around to humbly demonstrate that even kings can't hold back the tide.

Improve Your Odds: Insights from Author Alan Yong on Critical Mass Radio Show

http://podcast.criticalmassforbusiness.com/e/episode-1134-critical-mass-radio-show-august-10-2018-alan-yong/

Another great interview with Alan, as he delves into the principles of Improve Your Odds: The Four Pillars of Business Success and talks in detail about his vision for DNotes and global mass acceptance and adoption of digital currency. As usual, he is informative, insightful, and inspiring. I'd highly recommend setting aside twenty or thirty minutes to check it out.

Well done, Alan Yong.

Just a quick update, we should be ready with DNotes Pay custom cart integration in a few days. We will integrate it with Smokey's Gardens website for demonstration and as the new way to accept DNotes there.

Alan is working intensely on reaching people for funding and dedicating all available time to it. We will also be able to release a few more chapters of the Four Pillars audio book here shortly.

We appreciate your participation in the community and spreading the word about DNotes where you can. What we have been able to achieve with very little resources is amazing and once we secure funding that will only accelerate.

That's fantastic news, and I know that a lot of hard work went into making it happen. Well done. I'll certainly look for it on the website.

I second your appreciation for the community's participation. I know that there's been a lot of FUD of late about crypto in general - though that's certainly nothing new - and it's easy to settle into a bit of a funk as we watch the markets tread water, see little apparent progress on realizing digital currency's true potential, and hear the usual suspects line up to proclaim the technology dead.

Meanwhile, DNotes continues to innovate, creating the types of solutions needed to empower an ecosystem capable of bringing digital currency to the masses. As Alan's funding effort comes to fruition and DNotes Global acquires the resources it needs to quickly ramp up its efforts, we are all going to be witness to some truly phenomenal changes in the digital currency landscape. And the DNotes community will be able to take pride in the knowledge that it has played such a crucial role in supporting the project's goals.

Well done, Timothy. Off to a stellar start! I'm definitely looking forward to having the meat of the book available like this in the near future, since the only thing better than reading a book filled with Alan's wisdom and insight is having someone else read it to me.
