Really? I never got one sMerit back ... or will this happen 30 days after I've sent ALL of my sMerit? I thought we don't ever get sMerit back automatically.
I was referring to the merit sources. If you're not a merit source you won't get your sMerit back. Certain users are designated as "merit sources". They can create new merit out of nothing, up to a limited number per month (which differs per source). |

Berapakah sMerit yg dimiliki oleh user rank member ke atas pada saat awal diberlakukannya merit system ?
Sebenarnya theymos memposting rumus asli untuk menghitung sMerit awal di Staff forum tapi karena alasan tertentu tidak dipost di publik. Secara garis besar sudah benar kok, nilai sMerit awal bergantung dari rank dan jumlah activity yang didapat tahun 2017. Saya sendiri dapat sekitar 250an sMerit awal. Gan saya kurang mengerti dengan gambar yang menunjukkan 77 member yang berada di samping source merit, apakah 77 member itu adalah orang yang ditunjuk theymos untuk memjadi source? Dan juga apakah theymos tidak termasuk dalam source tersebut?  Iya, 77 orang yang dipilih theymos. Jumlah source tentu akan bertambah seiring waktu. saya kurang paham dengan perkataan agan "merit sources"?
kalau dari kata sources (sumber) apakah terdapat daftarnya gan? mohon maaf jika pertanyaan saya ada yang kurang nyambung.

Prior to the merit system, the automatic activities system upgrade never gave the forum this kind of infiltration threads on activities across the sections . And, even when they are, they were mostly on the meta section.
Well, before merit there were even bigger problems: massive spam and account farming. The former is still exist but account farming is pretty much impossible to do now. All the hassle with the merit system is nothing compared to the work needed to combat spammer before the system was implemented. I think the reason for seeing such merit threads is because, it is manually given. If it were automatically merited, the infiltration of threads won't be here with us. How do we automatically judge which post is merit-worthy? Super advanced AI? |

Accidentally noticed this 2 accounts with pretty much the same post history, John.1 and MostChampion.. Both nuked. Their recent posts are straight copy paste from other online sources. oh..and is this right place to report this kind of things? Yes, it's fine. You can report these things pretty much through anything, report button, direct PM to mods, or threads in Meta. |

Iya itu preview tahun 2015. Preview terbaru sudah ada beberapa perbedaan. Mungkin beberapa minggu ke depan sudah bisa diakses lagi previewnya. Mobile view jelas, nanti fully scalable dan responsive jadi enak digunakan di device apapun. Formatting thread ANN nanti harus menyesuaikan lagi sepertinya. Segera, Gan. Jangan panik gan, itu memang sudah biasa terjadi saat mengganti Avatar tidak langsung berubah, karena membutuhkan waktu beberapa menit buat Avatarnya berganti jadi Avatar yang baru, nah sekarang coba liat deh Avatar agan dah berubah tuh  Benar, memang agak lama sekarang terupdatenya. Periksa saja apakah di page avatarnya sudah terganti atau belum. Kalau di page avatar sudah terganti berarti tinggal tunggu saja beberapa saat. |

Isn't he talking about the sMerit given to merit sources? The source sMerit will come back in 30 days after its spending date. If you sent 5 source sMerit on 18 March, you should receive 5 source sMerit again on 18 April. So if you spent it daily during the previous month then you'll receive it every day in the next month. |

Terima kasih atas informasinya gan. Iya, sayang sekali fitur "Alerts" tidak ada di forum ini, Forum Bitcoin Indonesia saja ada fitur seperti itu. Tapi memang dari segi tampilan (mungkin engine-nya juga), forum ini terkesan "old school". Untuk Epochtalk, saya baru tahu dari agan. Itu semacam Bitcointalk 2.0? Sepertinya belum ada yang bahas di local boards Indonesia ini.
Old school banget jelas, ini SMF masih versi 1.1 sedangkan yang terbaru udah v.2.0 hahaha. Epochtalk itu software forum open source yang dibuat Bitcointalk. Tentunya akan dipake di forum baru nanti, ya bisa dibilang Bitcointalk 2.0, beberapa waktu lalu bisa ngintip previewnya di beta.bitcointalk.org, tapi sekarang lagi tidak bisa diakses. Epochtalk ini open source jadi nanti siapa saja bisa pakai software itu untuk bikin forum apa saja, gratis. Dari Bitcointalk untuk dunia hahaha. Eniwe, sebenarnya kalo agan kena permaban, agan gk boleh bikin alt account dan posting diluar board meta, dan hanya boleh komen/reply di thread pengaduan agan... dengan agan post di sini artinya agan telah melakukan ban envasion (mangkir dari banned) dan ada kemungkinan akun agan bakal di banned lagi...
Seperti yang sudah dibilang Agan Jaran goyang2712 sepertinya ini bukan ban permanen karena melanggar aturan tapi akun dilock karena dia pakai reset password. Akun yang reset password by email otomatis bakal kekunci for security reason. |

I have seen his/her post about how happy he/she is because there are many people from 3rd world country who do a good job and contribution to this forum and make money from it, and the money is considered big in their country. If this system happened, then the poor will be troubled a bit if they want to join the sig campaign. It will be like a money game, one who has money will have a higher chance to be in the game.
The price should not be too expensive but enough to make it inconvenient for massive spammers, the equilibrium between the two.
The addition of merit system has prevented new accounts from being farmed so this idea is no longer urgently needed but I think it'll be somewhat effective to combat the existing one. I think a remember seeing hilariousandco post the same thing again very recently so I don't he has dropped it. Maybe he's just a bit less vocal about it since Merit has been brought in.

hilariousandco has proposed the idea numerous time but it seems theymos didn't like it. I personally think this is a great idea though, it's better for all those ads money to go to the forum and quality posters rather than the spammer. IIRC he never mentioned why he dropped the idea, so I would like to hear his opinion on this. What are everyone's ideas for improving post quality?
I have mostly ruled out:
- Removing signatures or sig ads globally.
- Requiring payment to wear sig ads.
- Banning account sales.

Agan ngirim pakai wallet apa? Saya baru tahu di Ethereum bisa kirim ke private key yang jelas-jelas formatnya beda dengan address. Saya kira di MEW sendiri sudah tidak bisa mengirim ke address yang formatnya tidak sesuai (invalid address).
Sekarang intinya agan sudah membuat transaksi ke address yang salah, ya semua transaksi di blockchain apapun itu irreversible, tidak bisa dicancel. Kalau private key agan somehow sudah terekspos ke public, jangan digunakan lagi address dengan private key itu. Segera buat wallet baru dan pindahkan semua balance di wallet lama yang sudah terekspos private keynya ke wallet baru.
kebetulan yang saya masukan adalah private key dari idex.market 0x77ef96aabf8716xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx dan tidak ada notif invalid andress gan, makanya saya sadar saya memasukan private key itu pas saya check kembali di etherscan.io karena pending terus. Oh begitu, baru tahu nih ada private key yang mirip address formatnya. Ya sudah sepertinya harus diikhlaskan, Gan. Jangan lupa pindahkan semua isi wallet lama ke wallet baru karena private key agan sudah muncul di blockchain. |

I'm wondering if it is appropriate or accurate to report these posts to a moderator to be locked?
I've seen some mods share their personal criteria for this kind of thing, I know there is at least one mod that will lock topics that have been sufficiently answered/discussed. I'm wondering if this is universal amongst the mods, what their individual criteria are for locking threads and if there is a more formal way of alerting the mods about these threads they may have overlooked while doing their other laundry list of duties.
I don't think mods really have the time for it since they're already dealing with a lot of stuff.
In Indonesian local section, the community has agreed that the opening posters are required to lock their thread after they got a satisfying responses/answers and if they don't, mods will lock the thread. So it is appropriate in my local section to report over-replied topics. Please note that this is possible because our board's activity is relatively small compared to other huge section like Bitcoin/Altcoin Discussion and there are two active mods to handle the stuff. This approach might not be practical at all for bigger boards as it'll only add more workload for some moderators who already too busy to handle it. |

I checked the local forum for India and there are very less merited posts there. I do not think we have merit sources in that section and this data is not public as well. If a member sees that the posts in his local section are not getting rewarded, he will be discouraged from getting merits. If the admin can just make an announcement like they have at least 1 merit source in each local section, it can be good relief.
I agree to this. But I think these members can be tolerated as long as they are not doing any spam. But practices like bumping own threads, posting reviews for Fake ICOs or posting flase news related to crypto are things that should be dealt strongly.
theymos has assigned at least one member in each local as a merit source but still, it's possible that the source is not so active causing not enough merit circulating in that particular section. Feel free to apply as a merit source yourself or encourage more established member in your local community to apply as a merit source, theymos has stated that he wants each sub-community to have (active) merit sources. I am especially eager to have merit sources in sub-communities such as the local sections. |

Ada saran tambahkan sub beginner buat diskusi masalah 'ilmu' bitcoin buat beginner. Dari konteks diskusi yang berjalan mereka bahas Indo. Mirip dengan yang pernah disampaikan agan cissrawk. Opini pribadi, kita tidak punya beginner's section karena semua topik yang membahas Bitcoin secara umum, mulai level pemula sampai lanjutan, kita tampung di subforum utama. amishmanish bilang seperti itu mungkin berpikir kita belum punya thread berisi panduan newbie, padahal thread seperti itu sudah banyak seperti yang sudah dilist di thread indeks agan joniboini. So, menurut saya belum perlu lah kita memisahkan beginner section. Nanti kalau sudah banyak topik yang membahas hal teknis dan advanced baru mungkin perlu dipisah ada technical discussion dan beginner's section. Btw, walaupun saya bilang sudah banyak tapi masih banyak juga hal tentang Bitcoin dan cryptocurrency yang belum tercover/belum ada di SF Indonesia Jadi kontribusi untuk membuat thread-thread seperti itu masih sangat diharapkan nih, Agan-Agan. |

If there are none, then take command in a professional way of your forum. Learn about bitcoin and engage with other members like a man of knowledge. Alternatively, in your local forum, you could:
---> Translate some of the better posts from here (after taking due permission from the original poster)
---> Engage in discussion about setting up the infrastructure for bitcoin within your community. Like local groups, meetups etc.
---> Persuade people to actually care about the goal of financial access and equality for all and the importance of adoption.
---> Inform yourself about the scaling debate and be warned about the false marketing from other people making wild claims.
---> Inform yourself about Lightning Network, SegWit and encourage its usage. Very good suggestion, I think every non-native English speakers should read this. For anyone who has an active local community, like Indonesia, Philippines, and Russia, it's easier for them to contribute to their local forum as usually there is still not much high-quality content in the local forum, any member who makes one will surely be noticed and thus easier to get merit. 1 - There is an extreme gap in the standard of living in places like Indonesia and affluent neighborhoods in the US. This means that not only is the $0.55 or so a low level member can earn from making one post is a lot of money (in terms of his standard of living), but also the time spent not posting in either learning about Bitcoin, the subject topic, or in making an english post in proper english is worth a lot in terms of what could have been paid for if this time was spent posting. True. There are a huge number of people who come here because they heard they can make money here in Bitcointalk, even before they knew Bitcoin and cryptocurrency. Members who only care about making money and have no interest in learning Bitcoin/cryptocurrency will add nothing to a discussion. 3 - The Indonesia local section is the 2nd largest local sub behind the Russia local sub, as measured by total posts, yet it does not have any kind of "beginners" nor "technical discussion" section (many other local subs do have these kinds of sections). This means that Indonesians who want to learn about Bitcoin do not have a forum to do so in their local language. It would probably be a good idea to add some kind of beginners section in Indonesia.
