Just 5 exact score line would make my week  Wink, it's just rather easier said than done.

I would easily settle for 5 exact scores each week
but it does not happening ever

nevertheless, as I am always saying, 10 points per round in Superbru and 15 points per round in KT competitions are surely enough to keep you in good spots
but those are hard to reach as well, and since I have three good rounds in Bundesliga in a row, I am just waiting for a bad round on this point

Yes but when you think about it 15 points means you need to get 6 picks correct and one close result. It's always good to hit the exact result as that boosts the score, but the average of 15 points would total 510 points by the end of the season. @bullrun2020bro won the last season with 419 points. Averaging 15 points would be quite good. At the moment the lead in the table has an average of around 14 points.

I think the Superbru rounds are tougher point wise. I am doing great in the Champions League pool, but luck can change a lot from one round to the next.
642  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⭐⚽⭐ Sportsbet's Bitcointalk Sports Fanatics League (BSFL) – 10000$ rewards ⭐⚽⭐ on: November 24, 2023, 04:55:51 PM
...

Most of what we're discussing will be implemented from next season - we are not introducing rules when we feel like it.
However - BSFL costs a lot of money to run. We need to be fair to the sponsors, and if we see issues early on (like Division 3B), we need to try and find ways to counter it.

Trofo and myself spoke thoroughly this week on how to remedy the current situation, eventually we decided not to have huge changes mid-season because it would be against the rules. Personally, I was exploring a single, 16-team Division 3 from this season already - but it was impossible to achieve it.

One thing is clear though - if we don't find a way to fix it, people will start losing interest and SB will not be that interested in running BSFL anymore.

It's easy to stand on the sidelines yelling 'not fair', but we as organizers have to have a broader overview if we want BSFL to grow and improve.

________________________________

As Trofo said - we implemented a failsafe this season. You submit, open the spreadsheet, if your name is there, you're good. If it isn't, something with the forms did not work for you.
If you have multiple Gmail accounts, the form sometimes asks you to confirm the account after you click 'submit'. Maybe that's what's causing you issues.

But @Trofo and @cryptofrka, aren't the rules good when you knock somebody out after the person failed to submit results three times? Unless someone comes out and announces that there is some serious issue/illness, it should just be disqualification and period.

As I have failed to submit on time once, I know that there can be circumstances involving health issues from either yourself or someone close to you, but getting three passes on failed submissions is certainly enough. The problem is that you have all the work to do to update things when after 10 rounds someone failed to submit for the third time, which I think an upfront paid fee could be good for.

I don't know what others think, but if we include a rule that says something like: if somebody fails to pay the fine for not submitting three times, negative trust on the account could be given for not living up to agreed upon terms. Once the payment is done, negative trust could be removed.

I fully understand the need for remedy here and developing the questions is enough work to do. Starting to update the tables every two weeks is annoying. I guess no suggestion to solve this will be perfect, but it might make people think before they submit their BSFL application.
643  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do you want to play on casinos without KYC requirements? on: November 24, 2023, 01:17:17 PM
I was thinking about this question over the weekend and I cannot seem to find legitimate reasons why people would want to play at casinos that do not require KYC verification.

1. KYC requirements reduce money laundering.
2. KYC requirements reduce under age gambling.
3. KYC requirements increase the possibility to hold people to account for their actions. (Exploiting casino systems)
4. KYC requirement reduce scamming
5. KYC requirements can be used to restore accounts after it has been hacked. (Using the documents that were used by the original owner)
6. KYC requirements adhere to government regulations and legitimize a casino.
7. KYC requirements can be used to reduce gambling addiction. (Identifying people that self-excluded or people trying to create new accounts)
8. KYC requirements can be used to enforce regional gambling restrictions.

Why would you want to avoid being identified, if you gamble legally and if you are not a criminal? Let's discuss the reasons why KYC are not advantageous for the gamblers and casinos?

Ps. I am playing Devil's advocate... if you did not notice it.  Grin

1. No, with identity theft you can circumvent these measures.
2. No, with identity theft you can circumvent these measures.
3. No, with identity theft you can circumvent these measures.
4. No, with identity theft you can circumvent these measures.
5. No, with identity theft you can circumvent these measures.
6. No, with identity theft you can circumvent these measures.
7. No, with identity theft you can circumvent these measures.
8. No, with identity theft you can circumvent these measures.

The big problem is that these data collecting data krakens turn into honeypots and are the perfect targets for hackers. Inside jobs can be a threat, too. It is dangerous to provide data to less known gambling providers because their goal might not be to have you gamble as much as possible and lose as much as possible, but to get your data instead and sell it on the black market.

It is beyond me how you would counter gambling addiction with KYC when there are hundreds of operators that you can sign up an account with. The list for things that speak against KYC is so long that I doubt anybody has the time to put it all together here again.

But I think if you like to check out a quite comprehensive overview, 1miau has taken the time in 2020 to write down lots of problems regarding KYC. The thread is worth reading and drop some merit if you can for 1miau.

Davis cup in this format is useless competition and it is really depressing to see Davis cup played in front of empty stands.
I didnt know tennis can get even more boring and depressing than it already is.
Hours and hours of guys hitting the ball left and right, that only makes me fall a sleep easier.

I have been wondering for quite some time whether these Davis Cup games really have the status that the players repeatedly emphasize. But do those games really matter to the top players when there are Grand Slams, ATP 1000s and perhaps Olympics to be played? My feeling is that they don't really care. It can't be compared to football and games of the national teams.

It's insane actually - how I keep losing.
This is payback for all the mafia manipulation from last season, so you need to start playing more fair.

Well done Harkorede and few other guys for having all correct answers so far in this round.
Weekend is near and we finally have some real action with top leagues coming back after international break.

Well in this round it couldn't get any more brutal for you @cryptofrka. Harkorede is playing a perfect round and he is the only one from division 1 to have a perfect 4/4. Hard to counter that. It is time to congratulate him for the free bet. I thought being early might pay off here, but with that performance he is going to win it easy.
645  Local / Presse / Re: Commerzbank erhält Lizenz für Krypto-Verwahrung in Deutschland on: November 24, 2023, 11:31:23 AM

It only happened two times that both strikers did not score on the same matchday. It happened five times that both scored on the same matchday and five times that only one of them scored. I know it is not perfectly representative because the matchup makes a difference as well, but just as an overview this could be interesting.

had same thinking as you did, it is hard to get one player to score, and other don't, and pick right one to score
with a difference that I took both to score, not because I am convinced that they will, it will be just better feeling to watch and wait for a goal scored, than to watch and looking forward to see them not scoring Smiley

but overall, it will probably be one to score, and I hope that at least one will, because my opponent has neither to score as answer

The more I read about this question, the less I am satisfied with the decision I made. Tongue The little details like the two being penalty takers or the fun watching the game when you picked both to score, I should have probably gone with both scoring.

But at least slaman29 and I have another question being answered differently. That's something, because sometimes it is quite boring when you see that there are only two or three questions deciding about the final result.

@slaman29 I am also fine with Salah scoring and Haaland missing a penalty in minute 97' Cheesy
647  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Crypto exchange Binance punishes Russians for the war in Ukraine on: November 23, 2023, 08:12:44 PM
Well, it's been almost 2 years of the full-scale war, and Binance really took its time to slowly pull out of Russia. They've introduced some sanctions early on and some support for Ukrainians early on as well, but it's still not a complete absence of doing business in Russia yet.
And I agree with Sithara007 that it's not exactly punishment. I think these are very reasonable measures, perhaps coming too late and not being harsh enough, really. I've seen that the US has actually launched investigation into Binance for it allegedly helping Russians bypass the US sanctions.

The US has launched a plethora of investigations against Binance and I am sure that one investigation will lead to the next, initiating a cascade effect from one investigative finding to the next. The first round of investigations and allegations has been settled as it seems, but if they kept conducting business in Russia for quite a while after the war began, I guess there is a lot of stuff that needs to be looked into by investigators. But if it is about circumventing sanctions for the Russians, it is likely that they will find other ways if it is not with the help of Binance. Bitcoin can be used for good and evil and that's not a bug Wink

Wink

Well I think when you compare cards to goals, I think the frequency for late cards (also in higher numbers) is much higher than for late goals. Getting yellow cards late in the game is almost guaranteed. When there is only one yellow card missing in a relatively lively game where there is still something on the line, it is usually going to be given to someone for wasting time, tactical foul, getting off their jersey for scoring late (correlation there), etc.

When I saw the red card in minute 14' I knew I didn't have to check whether my pick could have still held. But events like a red card early in the game almost always put any pick at risk where some thought was put into. Not even the early goal was positive for the over 1.5 goals / over 5.5 booking as obviously that would spark much higher intensity.

Good game @slaman29, next one, let's go! Wink

I thought this was really risky, I know they like cards in this part of the world but also like 0-0 draws so I'm really glad this pick brings me level with you. 2 out of 4 is much better performance than before so yes, lets go!

I think the trickiest luck question is City-Liverpool. Haaland and Salah are the goalscorers but tend to be quiet on and off. But both are also penalty takers so it's risky to leave them out!!

I'm glad you left both out Smiley News says Haaland injured but its a lie Wink

Quote
But both are also penalty takers so it's risky to leave them out!!

Smart consideration that I didn't think about. But my approach to this question was different than yours although I did not conduct any statistical research on that, but I assumed that getting right one to score and the other player not felt very unlikely, but I say "felt" because I can't really back it up with anything.

I did well in the past with betting against a top scorer scoring or assisting. This might be subjective, but I believe I have been right more often than I have been wrong. But as I am thinking about it now, I guess you may have the upper hand statistically. The point you mentioned that both are penalty takers should not be underestimated and I didn't think about that. Perhaps you have outsmarted me here! 👍

I'm watching the Boca juniors match.. 0-1 after 3 min and a red card for Boca juniors after 14 min.. I have under 1.5 goals and over 5.5 cards so it doesn't look good to me😂

UPDATE: 2-1 HT and 1 red card and 1 yellow card.

Incredible match man, a total shame Estudiantes.... you cant lose this game in this way, it was so easy.
I expected a boring match but this was a very entertaining match.. 2 late cards in the match ruined it for me 😂

652  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: November 23, 2023, 09:43:44 AM
After what happened to other stars at United, Muller should think 100 times before agreeing to such a move  Grin
It would be legendary for Müller to end his career in Bayern at the club where he started and spent his entire career. As a last resort, he could go to Saudi Arabia; going to United means a high probability of ending his career in an unpleasant way in an atmosphere of scandals and a collapsing club.
For United, this is also a strange transfer - another temporary option, another straw that the head coach is trying to grab onto.
IMO, going to Saudi Arabia means that Thomas Muller ends his career, it doesn't mean that going to Manchester United means that Thomas Muller's career ends, in fact in the European league the players can develop, indeed currently Manchester United's condition looks worse than last season when compared with Bayern Munich is of course different. Bayern Munich is still a strong club that always dominates the title in the Bundesliga and is a tough competitor in other European leagues.
Thomas Murrel is an important player that Bayern Munich has with the goal assists he provides but considering his age it is no longer possible for him to continue playing so Bayern Munich intends to sell him to MU which is currently experiencing a decline and MU seem to needs Thomas Muller who has has a lot of experience in playing and providing goal passes to player who are relied on to scored goal.

Taking into account everything I know about Thomas Muller, I would absolutely rule out that he will ever go to Saudi Arabia to play there for any club ever. He his a serious Bavarian guy with deep roots in Germany and Europe and he is highly passionately running a horse breeding business with his wife and emphasized many times how important proximity to all of this is for him. I know that there is a pain threshold for everyone, but Thomas Muller is different than many others. He values what he has and he doesn't virtually add zeros to his bank account to then imagine how it would feel. Instead he stands by his word and loves the privileges he could obtain during life. I say no, he is not going to Saudi Arabia! Smiley

Manchester United could be an option for him and I think it was a consideration in the past if I am not wrong? But I think these times are over unless he gets some guarantee that he can play more than he can for Bayern. He doesn't like to be sitting on the bench although he accepts it, but he is also realistic. What are his chances at any top club to play most of the time?

654  Economy / Economics / Re: Imaginary Future on: November 22, 2023, 11:36:10 PM
Do you ever feel like that being after saving or investing for future you forget to live in the present? You don't buy the things you want to or don't go after experiences you want because you'd rather save/invest for future instead.
I used to focus on long-term plans, having a rough understanding of what I need to save up for and what I want my life to look like. But then a full-scale war hit my country, and suddenly planning became irrelevant, impossible. So now I'm more of a "live in the present" kind of person, which is why if I want something and I can buy it, I usually buy it because I don't have an expectation of long-term stability of my life for the future. Imagining the future doesn't come easily to me anymore, and having a generic understanding of how the next few months will look like already seems long-term.

Your post should be inspiration enough for everyone who does not live in a country that is involved in war to make the best out of their lives and waste as less time as possible. Especially when people have already founded a family, leaving a place becomes exponentially harder. I don't know your circumstances, but I can very well understand that you have turned into a live-in-the-present-person when actually you used to make plans before the war hit.

But I think these unexpected events can happen to anyone in one way or another. Sadly, for some people this is war that should have never taken place in the first place and also hits innocent civilians, but it could be an illness that changes one's life from one second to another. One that kills you fast or one that gives you a few more years.

I still think that no matter what happens, people should never give up on dreaming. Having something in front of you that you feel is worth pursuing despite difficult circumstances can do a little bit of magic to your life.

Haha no, not really, the company I used to advertise is located in Latvia. But anyway, I know lots of tennis fans who visit RG from much further away places too. I have seen a lot of live tennis in my life as my daughter is a tennis player. She is not a top 100 player of course, but I've seen quite a number of tennis matches in my life I must admit. Still, witnessing something like a Nadal v Djokovic RG final is a very special event. Let alone if this final is possibly the last in their careers.

You mean the last in Rafael Nadal's career Wink I am pretty sure that we will see Djokovic playing for a few more years. He has made quite clear in recent interviews that he is fully determined to keep going for as long as his body and his mental state allow him to. When I see him playing, there aren't signed of fatigue or weariness or exhaustion. He is a professional like hardly anybody else. He understands what his body needs and knows very well how to time his tournaments and which ones to play to always have enough time to rest. As he said, he just had one of his most successful years in his entire career at the age of 36 and he is soon going to turn 37.

Having a kid playing tennis is nice and a great reason to share some time in front of the TV watching a five hours tennis match without the wife getting mad! ;P
656  Economy / Economics / Re: Is the fall of Elon Musk's empire imminent? on: November 22, 2023, 10:25:33 PM
There's a lot of talk that Elon Musk taking on huge loans to buy Twitter could backfire massively on him as Twitter keeps losing value. Essentially what Elon Musk did was to use up most of his assets in terms of stock like Tesla and SpaceX to try and secure assets for his twitter loan. He's now so tied up in this Twitter debt, that if something goes wrong it could trigger a domino of effects.

So he essentially already pledged tons of money to secure loans to buy Twitter, but his executive decisions lead to massive drops in value. Late last year he posted a lot of Tesla shares to avoid a margin call from banks that had loaned him to buy Twitter but this could potentially mean that if Tesla shares fall in price also, Musk could be losing his empire... Eventually, and potentially if things go wrong, losing his position as CEO in both Twitter as well as Tesla.

What are your thoughts on this? Is Musk about to lose it all?

Didn't he step down as the Twitter/X CEO very long ago?I think that he nominated Linda Yaccarino in June 2023 and she took over from Elon Musk back then. He has also never claimed that he wants to be the CEO of that company for very long, which means that this can't be interpreted as an indicator of his empire failing.

The other companies are pretty strong and have good relationships with the US authorities. SpaceX is directly linked to Starlink, which provides important connectivity and data bandwidth for various purposes and Tesla is competitive I think? I haven't their numbers in a while, but they are up about 100% YTD. Despite the negative development of the share price in the last few weeks I think it is still going well for him. It would be a long way to crash that empire.

I didn't watch or check out the game Wales - Turkey, but correct me if I am wrong, the game against Wales was important for Turkey because for them it was about finishing the group first or second. Since this has an impact on the drawings for the group, I was quite sure that Turkey would try what they could to secure their first position in group D.

The game Brazil - Argentina seems to have been a coin flip and Brazil had more shots on target although the whole games was more about defending from the looks of it.

I wasn't award of the fact that the team which finishes second will get into the better pot with easier opponents. If I knew that, I'd probably go with the option that Wales wins the game, but don't qualify. I don't like calculations like that because they often backfire. I'm always for fair play and what luck brings you.

I too didn't watch the game (I was watching Croatia - Armenia) but judging by the SofaScore graphics and what CLS63 said, maybe Turkey played easy until Croatia scored. Maybe they realized in the half time that they have to at least draw so they played better in the second half. If I'm not mistaken, Turkey could have finished third in some weird combination of Croatia winning against Armenia and Turkey losing big time against Wales.

Nono, there was no chance for Wales to qualify as second as Turkey was 4 points ahead before the match started. The only remaining question was whether Turkey can defend their lead or whether Croatia can benefit from Turkey losing in Wales and claim the lead in the last match of the group stage. The draw was enough to secure that first position and that is why I went with Wales not winning the game. I also did it because Turkey has beaten Germany in the friendly game with a team that was also supposed to be a B-team of Turkey.

In addition, Bayern is frequently having these unexpected issues in their defense. Now it doesn't matter when they play against Heidenheim or any other mediocre team, but they were punished for that against Leverkusen and it will be very different when they play against a top team like Real Madrid. They won't just get away with very sloppy performances in the Champions League against any of the title favorites. But the worst is that they all too often get away with it in the Bundesliga, which makes the league quite boring.
As long as Kane will score at least 1 or 2 goals every game, it's safe for Bayern but I agree to you that clean sheets are rather rare this season for FC Bayern, especially in Champions league. Group stage of Champions League is rather easy but after group stage, Bayern needs to be careful.
Surprisingly, Bayern had a clean sheet in their 0-4 victory against Dortmund.
Looks like Bayern inconsistency is back on the menue...

And with Guirassy being back for Stuttgart, I'm hoping for Stuttgart to remain competitive but that's probably only wishful thinking.  Cry

But the clean sheet against Dortmund, I don't know if you saw the game, was a shameful event. It wasn't because Bayern was so strong, it was because Dortmund was so bad that I had to turn off the game. I was quite excited because I really hoped that Dortmund playing at home could mean something, no loss in a long time and some self-confidence could have contributed a great deal to a good result. But I think Dortmund's results until then did not properly reflect their performances. The games against Newcastle were the same. Results good, performances ok at best. Bayern put their lucky streak to an end.

Can't wait to see the answers of my opponent. I noticed 10 people in division 1 sent early picks, guess almost everyone had the same idea Wink
-snip

thanks man for this post, didn't know that one can check submissions for new round, even the answers can't be seen
first time that I actually look before the deadline, because I also have submitted early

it is a luck based round IMO, nothing much to set edge on, lot of questions with 3/4 options, where at least two are spot on, and small difference
kudos to Cro2 on hard work, it is really looking good

No problem, it's something new this season, I have the spreadsheet bookmarked just to see all who participate, kinda nice to see it adding up over time, and of course hope your opponent didn't send lol

Definitely luck, I mean, Wales couldn't beat second team Turkey and then Messi beats Brazil for first ever home loss, I regret so badly not supporting my hero. Bad start for me, as usual, I really don't know what to do. Kudos cro2 for sure.
