6401  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Stake holding my balance $70,000 claiming ODDS PROVIDER INVESTIGATION on: February 21, 2022, 10:11:54 PM
Sometimes all you need to do to find your answer is right in front of you...  When things like this happen, do you think KYC is for fun?  Do you not think Stake has some liability if they allow someone to claim a prize using someone else's documents or information?  Don't you think the information provided before the win should match the information provided after the win?  You can't at all for yourself see the problem that it would present if they just allowed anyone to submit any fake documents they want and then decide to submit real documents after they win?  Don't you know that if you're losing and you use your real documents, you can write those off as losses?  Why provide the correct documentation after a win and fake documents before?  It's absolutely backwards thinking.  I think maybe you should take some responsibility here and perhaps then you'd be able to negotiate some sort of settlement or something.

To make things clear...

IF YOU PLAY AT STAKE .. YOU ARE AT RISK OF LOSING MONEY TO THE ODDS PROVIDER BECAUSE

I submitted fake documents earlier.

6402  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Selling LBC account - Local Bitcoins . Com on: February 21, 2022, 09:59:37 PM
Perhaps you are attempting to sell a stolen/hack account. No genuine trader sells off their account just like that.

1. We all know, localBitcoin platform imposed mandatory KYC verification on all its users, which means even if the account is sold. The original owner can still trigger an account recovery process which will involve more KYC verification and the new owner won't stand a chance of keeping the account since they don't have the original documents.

2. No one would risk selling off their full verified account to a stranger. What if the new buyer uses the account for illegal transactions, like financing terrorism?

This is the sort of thing I personally consider to be fraud.  I'm constantly approached to do escrows for similar accounts and am surprised when people wonder why I won't have anything to do with them.

Selling bitcointalk accounts is frowned upon by most here and that's just a dumb forum account not even legally tied to a real person.  I'm always shocked at how stuff like this is allowed at all here.  I get the whole not moderating scams thing, but this is just straight up advertising illegal services.  It seems like it should be a no brainer not only to not consider purchasing something like this (which let's face it, would only be used for scamming people with reversible payment methods like paypal) but to avoid anyone who does.  Disappointing that someone would not only steal an account from someone else, but then sell it to a user who would do damage to that person by scamming in their name.  Truly sad.
6403  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you Enjoy Tent Camping? on: February 21, 2022, 09:31:41 PM
I laughed at the "tent camping" description.  It's just called camping man...  Anything else is called "glamping" and it's what kids do who have been raised by Tik Tok.

Nothing funnier than someone saying they're camping while they sit in their RV watching Netflix after their long shower and microwaved meal.
6404  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Can supplements be bad for you? on: February 21, 2022, 09:19:01 PM
I read an article probably 2 decades ago now about a study that was done on those who use supplements (specifically vitamins) with relation to their lifespan vs those who did not take supplements.  Interestingly, the study concluded that those who took supplements actually had a shorter lifespan than those that do.  I found it interesting and while the study admittedly stated this was not to be considered evidence that supplements were bad, it was eye opening.  The thing about the study where there was controversy, was people saying that those who took supplements did so because they had health issues or an unhealthy diet, and that those were likely the underlying causes for their shortened lifespan.  One could certainly make that argument, but in the end it would appear that supplements aren't the secret to a healthy and long lasting life.  Betty White said she never ate a vegetable and lived to be 99...
6405  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk.org invalid proxy: Invalid image on: February 21, 2022, 09:14:17 PM
Wouldn't that be nice if images/gifs you used in your bitcointalk posts were cached by forum itself so if that particular file hoster were to go down, posts would still show right info instead of what is mentioned in title?

Not as nice as if everyone hosted their own files so that file storage was decentralized among the users instead of relying on someone else to come up with a solution that meets the needs of the users.

Do you also wish bitcointalk had a community wallet so we could all store our funds here for 24/7 access from anywhere without the need to download a wallet app?

Sure, hosting your own files might be a pain in the ass, but so is safely storing your private keys.  Personally, I'd like to see people move away from this attitude that someone else needs to provide them something and instead start leading by example.  You want a better image sharing service, create one.  There's something to be said for people who step up to do things instead of complain about others who do things.
6406  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: February 21, 2022, 09:09:28 PM
I think that instead of this, perhaps a shorter format for the All-Star game could be adopted instead to keep things fresh and interesting.

They keep messing with the format and talking about how great it is...  I actually think it sucks.  A few changes have made the All Star game more fun for the players and to generate more revenue for advertisers, but little is done with consideration to the game itself being legitimate in any way.  Sure, the added money for charities makes it appear as though the focus is about getting the players to play harder, but I think people overestimate how much $100K means to a team of multimillionaires.

Personally, I think they need to make a couple of little tweaks to the game to make it more fun.  For starters, get rid of this idea that the game is 4 separate quarters.  Nobody cares about the quarters, they care about the final score.  Secondly, the players don't give 2 shits about $100K for their charity as a combined team.  That's almost insultingly low compared to how much money the event generates for how much they push the charity narrative.  Third, get rid of the draft.  That's total bullshit.  People want to see East versus West not LeBron versus Durant.  Fourth, get rid of the All Star jerseys.  Back in the day when each player represented their own team, it was great to see out there.  I miss it.  Lastly, make the game actually mean something.  An idea would be to give the winning side (East or West) home court advantage in the NBA Finals.  That would get these players sweating out there...
6407  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin likely won't recover until 2025 on: February 21, 2022, 08:53:05 PM
Quote
Huobi co-founder Du Jun told CNBC on Sunday that bitcoin prices are often influenced by a technological change in the cryptocurrency's network, called "halving".

Halving is a key feature of bitcoin, and refers to a cutting in half of the amount of cryptocurrency that so-called miners receive as a reward for validating transactions.

The last halvings occurred in 2016 and 2020, and crypto analysts expect the next one to take place in 2024.

Huobi co-founder predicts this cycle is going to repeat itself, following the last bear market pattern, which started right after the ATH of 2017 and lasted long painful years... Is it too pessimistic to think this way or is the halving the real game changer factor which drives market's prices, as Du Jun says?

He also mentions another factors such pandemics and geopolitical issues can influence bitcoin's price, but it's clear the halving factor was highlighted as the most important and influent one among all.

Bitcoin is shaping up to enter a bear market and likely won't recover until 2025, co-founder of Huobi crypto exchange says

Not a bad take.  I think the 4-year cycle will be less and less of a thing going forward (but still existent to some point) as it has become clear that derivatives are playing a much larger role as time passes.  It seems likely that the manipulation and game playing with these derivatives is how big market players intend to profit in the future and the actual real price of Bitcoin will become less and less guided by market factors and more and more susceptible to the manipulation of market makers.

So while it is possible that we'll see a long slide downward for a couple years followed by another boom, I think the rise will be far less than previous cycles on a % basis and far more dictated by Wall Street than actual Bitcoin users.
6408  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Economic Growth on a Bitcoin Standard on: February 21, 2022, 08:45:12 PM
Hypothetically if the USA pegged the US dollar to Bitcoin how would economic growth continue. I am a huge Bitcoin proponent but looking at it from this lens puzzles me. Restricting the printing press would, in my opinion, slow economic growth significantly. What would the world look like after this? Are there opposing viewpoints?

This isn't even a possibility.  The amount of debt held by some of the world's largest nations has grown so big that it would be absolutely impossible to even consider the idea of paying back that debt without a declining value of fiat.  In fact, their debt is so large that one can make a fairly decent living in life just betting against fiat currency (if you're lucky enough to be wealthy already).  The truth is, the people in charge of the world's financial system have fucked shit up so incredibly bad, taxes are certain to increase and the value of fiat is certain to decline.  There is no other way forward.  No fancy accounting or confiscating of people's wealth will even enable the system to continue moving forward as is.  Massive money printing and rising taxes is the only way.  Politicians have no other tools at their disposal, outside of selling off our national parks to China, which will probably happen at some point to pay debts as well.

Put simply, we are all screwed, but the folks with leased cars who rent apartments or refinance their homes at today's valuations have almost no chance whatsoever of avoiding bankruptcy without some wild investments and dumb luck on their side.

That was a nice All-star game

Ya, it was great. Curry put on a shooting exhibition and the guys from Cleveland all had great games to the delight of the hometown fans. LeBron finishing off the game with the winning shot for his 5-0 all star game team captain record. It was Curry’s night though. One of the greatest all star game performances I’ve seen. Makes you think he should be shooting the ball from half court a lot more often. He deserved the MVP.

The great all star game made up for the terrible dunk contest. Until next year…
6410  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: February 20, 2022, 07:16:36 PM
I do not remember ANY dunk contest that was as horrible as this one. I mean not only they ended up failing so much but the ones they achieved were last second "might as well dunk something" results and that was horrible. I am old enough to remember Vince Carter era and think about how many great ones we have watched ever since those days.

I have to say the last great one was the duel between Aaron Gordon and Lavine and that was about 5 or even more years ago, and ever since that, I do not think that there has been anything good. It is doable and understandable but I still feel like it is going to be hard for dunk contest to be great unless they offer something big and try to get even better dunkers and better names.

There just isn’t enough incentive for the players to do the dunk contest anymore and most of the big names have endorsement contracts that don’t let them participate in events like this due to the possible risk of injury. A shame… That’s why they wouldn’t let LeBron do it.

Team LeBron sporting a 5.5 point spread over Team Durant. I think they’ll probably win by more than that but they might keep it close for entertainment’s sake.

Man I love these coins.  The detail is amazing. I appreciate your fast response.

Thank you! I will be ordering more asap

Thanks for posting pictures and for the kind words.  I also appreciate you ordering more of them.  The sale of any goods in the NastyShop raises donations for NastyFans that help everyone receive some Bitcoin for being members of the club, so thank you for your donations.  Smiley

While these are some of the most unique and costly coins I've made due to the .9999 silver used and colorization, they aren't tied to actual NastyFans seats (hence the "wallets" name) so they are less popular than their Minted Seats counterparts, but they're still in my opinion some of the best physical Bitcoin wallets you can find.  Smiley  Enjoy!

GALAXY GeForce RTX 3090 for sale, please contact Email:

617970880@qq.com

A pretty safe bet that a large number of users on this forum would be extremely interested in the ability to purchase a GALAXY GeForce RTX 3090.  The questions for them would be how much would they have to pay in order to purchase one and what sort of deal terms would they be looking at.  I don't see the answers in your thread, so might I suggest including some additional information?  First obviously being, how much are you asking for the GPU?  Where is the GPU shipping from?  What shipping service will you be using?  Will you accept escrow?  What escrow providers are you willing to accept from?  Is the GPU new, or used?

I think if you answer those questions you'll have a better chance of finding a trading partner.  Good luck.
6413  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: February 18, 2022, 04:54:08 PM
I gotta say I'm team LeBron again this year.  Ever since they've been doing these drafts it has been pretty apparent that LeBron has a higher basketball IQ than Durant.  Every year LeBron's team seems to be totally stacked.  This year is no different.  While you never really can tell how an All-Star game is going to go, LeBron's team has a clear talent edge and I think that will be enough to give them the victory.

As always, I'm most excited for the Slam Dunk competition.  I'll try to catch as many of the weekend events as I can though.  Rising Stars Game and 3 point competition definitely on the watch list as well.  The main event should be a good one though.  I'd bet the over if it was 280.

I'm shocked this thread isn't full of people talking about Drake's Super Bowl bet.  Not that he bet over a million dollars in Bitcoin and actually won more Bitcoin than he bet, but that he did it on Stake.com!  I really had my doubts as to whether it was real or not, especially after not seeing anything about it on these forums (maybe I didn't actually search, but I did glance) but it seems like I've seen these screenshots on enough different sites now that there must be truth to it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjhACZJFeI0

I guess my curiosity now is if this was a paid advertisement by Stake, or is Drake just a guy who uses the service and decided to throw a free advertisement their way?  I also wonder if this caused a massive spike in bets.

Nah, I doubt if this was a paid advertisement stunt from the Stake marketing team. The guy obviously enjoy betting on Stake.com and he bragged about this on social media. (flaunting his wealth like a true celebrity)  Roll Eyes

I will much rather have Stake.com approaching Drake for some kind of sponsorship ...than them having to pay millions to Watford soccer team that are at the bottom end of the Premier league and possibly being relegated.   Roll Eyes

Drake's bets are small in comparison with one of the players that wagered over 1 Billion dollars a few weeks ago.  Roll Eyes

Drake's bets might be small in comparison, but his reach isn't.  He's also a branding magician so I doubt he would be so careless as to think that him tweeting those images wouldn't be a benefit to Stake.  You'd think he would have asked for some sort of compensation before posting what appeared to be an advertisement for Stake.  Given the history of celebrities getting in trouble for stuff like that, it wouldn't be completely out of the question for me to assume that Stake actually put up all the money for the bet in exchange for his tweets.  I wonder if we'll see more mainstream appearances of Stake in the future, and what other celebrities could be next.

What an epic game it was and I mean the Golden State Warriors - Denver Nuggets one. It was a very competitive game and honestly I was expecting Warriors to win this. But Nuggets fought so hard that they equally deserved to win. The 3-pointer Monte Morris made over Stephen Curry was just insane. His hands didn't even shake then and it was a flawless shot. And this shot brought the 117-116 win to them. Congrats to them on their great win! And btw, Jokic had a spectacular performance too. He got 35 pts, 17 reb and 8 ast. What an effort!

This loss cost me my parlay for the day.  Cry  The Nuggets are a team that can definitely shock anyone on any given night.  Jokic shows why he is an MVP when he needs to.  The crazy thing is that a couple of the team's best players are out with injuries.  The Nuggets are still a young team and I think they're going to be very good for several more years.  I'm not sure if this season will lead them towards a title hope, but once they get everyone back to full strength next year (hopefully) I think they have a real shot at challenging some of the best teams in the league deep into the playoffs.

Couldn't reach you. Is the Telegram valid?

Judging from his long absence and seemingly not investing in anything, I would say you will have difficulty ever finding this person again.  Looking at their posts, it seems the interest was primarily in trying to get a bot to manipulate data to inflate the value of obscure investments.  Maybe this is what you're looking for, but it doesn't seem to be the most up and up operation going.  Personally, I would question if any money was ever available to invest in anything and without a signed address showing millions of dollars being available, I think the OP's absence from the forum says all you need to know.

I don't know it works really good. I don't think cg because cg doesn't have any features

It may very well work "really good" but that doesn't mean the information you've been given is not valid.  Maybe you don't care about the licensing aspect, which is your right, but promoting a fancy GUI here in the face of cg's developers is probably not the right move.  As others have stated, cg has plenty of features and the software you are promoting is likely taking advantage of them in a pretty package that while it may be easy to use, doesn't necessarily add anything (hard to say without code being available).  Instead of saying you don't think cg is the backbone of this software, maybe ask some questions so you can understand what it is you're doing wrong and why people take issue with it.

Yep, that's exactly what I'm gonna do. It kinda sucks to know you have a flock of vultures circling every time you make a post, but, whatever, knowledge is power.  Cool

I'm a bit surprised that anyone cares what is posted in the off topic section.  I figured it was just there for people who have lost the ability to bring themselves to post anything currently being discussed in the community and want to keep their activity up.  I don't believe signature campaigns pay for posts in this section, so it seems like for a majority of the posters on this forum that section would be worthless.

I wouldn't say to adjust your posting habits at all.  Just post on topic responses and if you have a problem with the moderation do what you did here and ask questions.  Who knows how many other people have your same opinion on the matter but don't speak up.

As far as the circling vultures...   Undecided
6420  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bull Run in Bitcoin on: February 16, 2022, 06:11:43 PM
Bitcoin is not doing as well as expected now. But it is also a good time for new investors. Because, everyone is thinking that Bitcoin will soon be more advanced than its previous position.

I think it depends on when you invested and what metrics you're watching if you say that Bitcoin is not doing well.  10 years ago I would have told you that $4,000 would be Bitcoin's peak.  Sure, the price was only a couple dollars back then so the idea of a rise to being in the thousands was laughed at by many.  The narrative from a better Western Union to a better version of Gold has changed that opinion for myself, as I honestly didn't think we'd see the adoption we have.  Now with some pivoting to Bitcoin being "digital real estate" the sky is honestly the limit.

So I'm not sure what makes you think Bitcoin isn't doing well.  It literally surpassed all expectations I had for it in 2017 as far as an investment and did it much faster than I thought possible.  If you don't see what I see, zoom out.  What we've witnessed over the last 10 years has truly been one of the most amazing investments I've witnessed and may possible end up being the greatest investment of my lifetime.
