? ANY none 0.25000000 payment?

Was that supposed to be "non-0.2500000 payment" ?   Or "any payment amount other than 0.25000000"  perhaps?

Also, affliates are still around, there just aren't any in effect right now?
6543  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin process to a third party site. on: May 07, 2012, 12:09:17 AM
If i were to purchase Bitcoins off of a seller from this site, how do i transfer
the bitcoins to a third party site securely?Hi,

Well, the seller would send the bitcoins that you purchased to the bitcoin address that you provide to the seller.

Generally, you want to get a new bitcoin address for each transaction.

-----------
With the Bitcoin.org client, you click Receive Coins, then New Address and then Copy to Clipboard.

Once you've received the bitcoins you need to wait at least one confirmation before spending them to the third-party site.

-----------
Other options are to use a wallet such as My Wallet from Blockchain.info
  - http://Blockchain.info/wallet

That functions in a similar way .. Receive Money -> Generate New Address.

Blockchain's wallet also lets you spend after just one confirmation.

-----------
You can also provide a bitcoin address from a hosted EWallet, such as what most Bitcoin exchanges offer, or an EWallet hosting provider like Paytunia.

The delay for confirmation with these will vary ... for example, Mt. Gox will not credit your account for Bitcoins sent until after six block confirmations.

-----------

Now, when you used the phrase "securely" that could mean a few things.  If you are sending a lot of bitcoins, perhaps none of the above are secure enough.  For instance, are you sure your computer isn't compromised with spyware?  To protect against even that you'ld want to ensure that you are using two-factor authentication (e.g., Mt. Gox yubikey), for instance.

If you used the phrase "securely" because you wish to use Bitcoin anonymously, then that means something else as well.  For that, there would be a different set of suggestions.

6545  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie Questions about Liberty Reserve and Bitcoin on: May 06, 2012, 11:19:36 PM
For question #2, you can sell Bitcoins on MtGox and transfer the dollars from MtGox to Liberty Reserve.

Though technically, Mt. Gox doesn't mess with Liberty Reserve anymore.  Though their withdrawal form still shows Liberty Reserve, what it does is lets you create a Mt. Gox redeemable code that is used to trade for Liberty Reserve at AurumXChange company, less the fee.

There is another Bitcoin exchange, CryptoXChange which does the same thing at Mt. Gox does but AurumXChange's fee for this method is less:

6547  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Weekend Dip Myth on: May 06, 2012, 10:44:35 PM
Oftentimes, Saturday evening (west) and Sunday morning (east) is about the time to start looking closely at a re-entry point.  But sometimes the selloff continues through Sunday and into Monday even.

Well, that was a pretty weak dip.  Traders who pay the lowest fees (e.g., 0.3% of each trade) could have made a tiny amount on this weekend dip, others only broke even at best, or lose a fraction of a percent on the fees.)

Without knowing the impact of the Golden Week backlog of wired funds to Mt. Gox, it is probably wise to re-enter now rather than waiting this dip out much further hoping for a drop below $5.

So for scorekeeping purposes the weekend dip strategy gets a a big fat goose egg (0) (which is like a tie.  as -1 is for when following the weekend dip strategy causes losses to occur, and +1 is for when gains are the result.  This caused neither).
6548  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Any hope of getting bitcoin now? (dwolla 30 day bullcrap : () on: May 06, 2012, 10:31:56 PM
now thats funny, waiting 30 days, 5 more months and they end up like paypal

very easy for these "exchangers", when they need some money, they just start pulling AML stunts

Perhaps you are misunderstanding the specifics on this 30 days restriction.

The restriction is that a Dwolla customer who just recently added funds from a bank or hasn't yet added funds from a bank at all yet cannot send Dwolla funds TO the exchanges until 30 days after that first transfer from a linked bank account occurs.  So the funds aren't being "frozen" by Dwolla, they just can't be transferred to certain parties until an initial probationary period has expired.

There are no restrictions on a Dwolla customer from sending those funds to another Dwolla customer, nor is there a restriction on withdrawing those funds.

So to suggest that the exchanges are holding onto the Dwolla funds due to Dwolla's new 30 day restriction is misleading.

If any exchange is not able to payout Dwolla funds it is for other reasons than Dwolla's 30-day restriction.

Well, thats mildly annoying. Having to 'defrag' your wallet.

It is a problem affecting very few people ... mostly miners with small payouts and now Satoshi Dice players.  Bitcoin was never developed to work well as a micropayments system, so it isn't surprising that using it as such has downsides.

I could have 'prepared' the sale by sending 5x 10BTC payments to myself prior to seeing my friend?

Correct, that simply is forcing the spend to occur when it is convenient.
6552  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: business and bitcoin transparency on: May 06, 2012, 03:58:57 PM
Ofcourse normal customers won't go thru the trouble of figuring out the blockchain, but spying on competition is a big business on it's own.

There are so many options for this.

Example, simply forwarding each incoming payment individually (using pull #1017) to an EWallet or other payment intermediary (e.g.,) Mt. Gox

To force there to be no connection between the spending party and the recipient, a redeemable voucher can be use to move BTC funds from one exchange to another (e.g., Bitconiica).   Then bitcoins can be withdrawn to a local wallet.

Problem solved.  The funds in the local wallet will have no trace of the coins where funds were originally received.

None of these transactions incurred fees (other than the regular trivial bitcoin transaction fees), the only drawback was a little administrative overhead.
6553  Economy / Collectibles / Re: CASASCIUS PHYSICAL BITCOIN - In Stock Now! (pic) on: May 06, 2012, 03:43:02 PM
I know MtGox redeems Casascius physical bitcoins, and I've had success there, but are there any alternative exchanges or other means by which one could redeem them?

Armory client will, and MultiBit might as well.

My Wallet from Blockchain.info does:

6556  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why you should care about miners on: May 05, 2012, 09:39:51 PM
you should care about changing the Bitcoin ecosystem (which includes the core protocol) in ways that are beneficial to the typical miner.

There's most of the problem right there.  Those don't occur unless there's a darn good reason.
6557  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: business and bitcoin transparency on: May 05, 2012, 08:53:01 PM
I was hoping somebody had a better idea then mixer Services.

Assuming you don't want to use an EWallet or third party service (e.g., Bit-Pay.com or Mt. Gox merchant services) which breaks the link between the address used and the merchant the payment was sent, then the manual coin selection from pull #1017 might be what you are looking for:

Not to derail the thread, but is there a list somewhere of the 'companies' providing this type service?  What would they be called?

Does the amount of real "fast tx" commerce today support such a network?

And until that time arrives, there is a third party service launching that offers to provide a protection service for 0/unconfirmed payments:
