661  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: building big mining rigs on: February 12, 2018, 01:41:40 AM
Hi there

It's just a theoretical question since I don't have the money to do it ;-) However if you would built bigger mining rigs (let's say 30 - 60 cards), is it better to run small systems with 6-8 cards (Asus Prime z270, MSI Z170A, Gigabyte GA-H110 etc) or 13 gpu systems with a ASrock H110 Pro / Asus B250? You're a probably more flexible with smaller rigs regarding cards and psu but need more time to maintain the system. So what would be overall better would you say?

I own the MO B250 mining expert it contains 19 GPU lines and as of now it works with the celeron processor for my mining rig. Even 12 cards GPU MO also a fine to start a small mining rig. Please ensure that you are adding the Rx series cards such as Rx 470/580 both 4GB and 8GB are good.

This will produce almost 22 MH for mining eth with the 470 cards and 580 may give upto 30 MH.

I see above some suggested to have the best RAM and CPU. I wanna say you RAM need to have the DDR4 and above but processor does not matter to mine bro. Have that in your mind first.

I agree that processor does not matter much.  But if I can spend $10usd more to get a Pentium over a Celeron, I'm going to do it.  I started all of my 6 gpu rigs with 4gb ddr4 and they ran just fine most of the time ... I've since upgraded them all to 8gb ddr4, I don't notice a lot of difference.  I think I see a bit of a difference when I remote into them.  The system as a whole is more responsive to command.  Those little upgrades only cost me a couple days of mining, so I do it.

Majority of my issues have been gpu driver crashes.  Most of that came from core and mem overclocking a little too much on a specific gpu.  Causes the entire rig to crash.  Even if they are the same brand and model, they won't all be the same as far as how much you can overclock.

My solution to that is a switched pdu.  Although it is not very necessary, if your gpu's are clocked appropriately, it gives me piece of mind.  I can shut down the power to one rig and then turn it back on from my computer at work, my phone, with a laptop from anywhere that I have a connection to the internet.

All above is based on Win10 OS.
662  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Litecoin/Ethererum - Is it worth it? on: February 12, 2018, 12:42:59 AM

I just looked into Litecoin (which isn't far away from XMR) and Ethererum, and thought - why not?

Thanks

You do realize that LTC, XMR, and ETH have VERY different cases for use, right?  Lol ... I don't think you have researched anything other than the fucking current value of each coin.

I haven't said this to anyone in awhile.  Start reading this forum, legit crypto news sites, listening to podcasts.  Don't stop until your eyes are bloodshot and/or you fall asleep (8 hours/day min).  Do that for about 90 days straight.  You'll thank yourself for it later.

663  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Litecoin/Ethererum - Is it worth it? on: February 12, 2018, 12:39:13 AM
Is LTC or ETH worth it?  After the research that you have done on each project, do you believe that it has future value or do you think it has zero value?  OH LOOK!  You answered your own question.

Is mining worth it?  After the research that you have done on the coins that you want to mine, the future value of those coins based on your research of each project,  the cost of the hardware you'll need to mine them, and everything else that goes into mining, is it worth it to you?  OH LOOK!  You answered your own question.

I have to say, you're a pretty smart guy.  Glad we have the privledge of having your membership in the forum.
664  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Paypal receive payment. Noob question on: February 11, 2018, 11:59:17 PM
Best place to query for Paypal help would be the selfhelp section of Paypal itself. https://www.paypal.com/us/selfhelp

Eitherway - check the help section for specifics relating to your query, but money received is usually available in your Paypal account for spending as soon as Paypal confirm its processed. You can use this balance anywhere you use Paypal or for sending to others.

Withdrawing to a linked bank account can take a little longer and depending on the amount may need you to do the following.
https://www.paypal.com/us/selfhelp/article/how-can-i-lift-my-withdrawal-limit-faq558

I have new verified account with attached card, if i receive $500, can i use this money (example shops) without any holds?
I think when you only use your PayPal money and not some card then you will not pay a fee in online transactions. So if you buy a pizza for example with PayPal account you will have no fees. But to transfer your money to your bank account you will have fees.

There is no fee to transfer paypal funds to your attached bank account.  Not in the USA anyway.  And there is never a fee to use paypal to purchase goods or services.  The fee is charged to the person who is selling the goods or service that you are paying for.
665  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Too much new members... Good or not? on: February 11, 2018, 11:54:25 PM
A lot of people here are being rude to newbies, like me, I personally did not experience any kind of rudeness towards the veterans. But as I read threads, I suddenly think that some of the old folks don’t like new people in our community, is it because too much people here will ruin the system? The flow of cryptos?

It's mainly because of the newbies asking nonsensical and or redundant questions.

"when moon?"
"should i buy now?"
"how to earn bitcoin?"
"what is airdrop?"
"how to make bitcoin heuhehue"

and the latest trend.... "what is merit?"

The list goes on.. and on.. and on..

I don't understand the people asking for merit trend.  It doesn't get you free pizza or anything of value.  It's a representation of how much value you have added to the community over time.

They also have many 450W PSUs advertised as 1200W. Amazon and newegg do as well.  Read the reviews people.

Yeah, but the ones you see on Amazon and Newegg are resellers.  It's not that you're buying directly from Amazon or Newegg in those instances.  But yeah, watch what you're doing.
668  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: alibaba GPU's on: February 11, 2018, 11:17:12 PM
Old generation GPUs with modded BIOSes and altered looks to make them seem like a real deal. Save your money Smiley

Reminds me of the Chinese flash memory scam.  They alter the usb stick, sd card, ect to make a computer report that a 4gb or 8gb is really 128gb or something stupid.  I lost a few hundred dollars on a scam like that about 4 years ago.
669  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Waiting forever on Amazon stock of 1070ti. Awful! on: February 11, 2018, 10:52:59 PM

Never heard of them.  Can't seem to find out much about them either.

If you end up putting them on eBay, post the link or pm it to me.
672  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: alibaba GPU's on: February 11, 2018, 06:28:34 PM
Lots and lots of Chinese knockoff junk.  Some have said that they work, but they aren't authentic and they won't perform as well as the real thing.

In addition to that, I'm sure there is no warranty.  They would probably argue with you for a month about DOA, because that's how most sellers are on there.  Once they have your money, they don't give a shit.
673  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: hotel mining on: February 11, 2018, 02:39:36 AM
come to my  home free electricity  just we pay 5 $  fixed every month  Grin

Sure.  And then I get shot dead, you keep my rig.  How will you dispose of my body?  In your country, probably easy.

What is it with the clowns hating on newbies?  We all had to start somewhere and im sure "your" newbie questions annoyed the heck out of someone that already knew the answer when "you" were a newbie.  So what. Be a teacher! Dont be a richard.  How hard is it to copy and paste a link to the answer if "you" are too lazy to type.

bro, youre the clown. read the whole thread. i already helped out OP.

It does not seem like he was replying to specifically. Don't hate.

we need a nublet sub-forum where all these "hau 2 lambo?" and "wut is best coinz 2 mine?" questions can be automatically sent.  Then, those who care to "teach" repeatedly can help, and those who don't want the continual eyesore won't have to see them.

My favorite is "why no (noun or verb)"?

Oh come on man ... Lol ... Probably because English isn't their native language.  Not saying it isn't funny, because to me ... It just sounds like they are whiny cry babies.  In reality, I think it just comes across that way to those who only speak English.

It's from English speaking people.  A younger friend explained that it's "gamer lingo" - Most of the broken English from gamer Yanks is a weird form of stylized slang.

Yeah, I don't get it.  Thank God.

Now I'm really laughing, because I had no idea ... Lol.  I thought it was misuse of wording based on translation.  Tell your younger friend not to waste his life and gpu hashing power on gaming.  Or speaking gamer lingo for that matter.  Lol.  I work in Information Techology, so there are some gamers around in my day to day life.  Not hating on them at all (a gamer who started mining, actually introduced me to mining several months ago) ... I just hate the whining about high gpu prices, due to mining from those who sit around and play games with every minute of their spare time.
675  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: hotel mining on: February 11, 2018, 01:25:01 AM
The amount you make off of rigs would be a lot of work unless you just stayed at the same hotel month long and wven then i dont know i would want to stay at a hotel that you pay 5-10 a night at.  Undecided

Exactly ... It's not like you're going to be able to go to a hotel and plug in several rigs (30 gpu's) in one room.  Lights out my friend.  Lol ... Aside from the fact that I don't think it is morally right, it's just a stupid idea that wouldn't be worth the hassle.  Hope it's an all-inclusive resort, because you wouldn't be able to afford to eat and pay to rent the room.

another cool fantasy for if profitability goes back up is to carry a rig around to cheap hotels and use the ac to cool it and the rig brings in the cost of the hotel.  I have a small ish 6 card rig that is about the size of a suitcase that could have brought in 40 dollars a day 2 weeks ago.

Imagine this same concept with higher profitability.  You could travel for free.  My only question is how would airplanes feel about a mining rig in checked luggage?   Customs?

I'd love to set this up in southeast asia and spend about 20 dollars a day on the hotel. 10 on food and live a life of free travel.  Just be worried about the rig being stolen.

I almost did this.  I had a job that required a lot of travel but I was laid off before I could get this off the ground.  Flying with something like this would have been a nightmare, I did all my traveling by car.  I think there's a market for small portable self-contained miners that people could plug in at work and mine with too.

Yeah, it's called a usb miner.  Just don't expect much profit at the risk of losing your job.  We fired someone at work for plugging in a wifi access point, so good luck with smuggling in a gpu mining rig ... Lol.

He's just a cranky little old man.

I will be in twenty years, if the price of btc never goes up ... Lol.
679  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: hotel mining on: February 10, 2018, 11:00:05 PM
I love all the people complaining about stealing electricity. While the idea of unsecured rigs and moving them around is the real actual issue, people seem so conditioned to just reply "stealing electricity!!!!!! you are a bad bad man" Chill out, a 6 card rig uses like $2-4/day. In hotels, you're going to stay only a few nights. Big deal....

Why don't you just call up a hotel, explain what you want to do, and ask for permission?  If it violates a fair use of utilities clause, it is stealing.  Theft is theft.  Doesn't matter if it's a candy bar or a truck load of flat screen tv's.  The dollar amount isn't what I have a problem with.  The moral compass of the person who is willing to do it without permission is what I have the problem with.  Slippery slope people.

Why are mining profits so low? Nicehash shows in profitable calculator for RX570 only $1.4  profits. Can anyone say why so few profits are giving?
My mining Rig is Rx570 8GB

Waaa Waaa ... You poor fucking baby.

Lol .... Also HMMMMMMM ... Do your fucking research .... Maybe NH is good for you, maybe not ... What are your hashrates mining cryptonight coins straight up?  And which miners and which pools?  Jesus Christ, post some motherfucking info, so someone here has something to compare it to your NiceHash bitchin ass!

Post some fucking results or get the fuck out.  DONE.

hey hey hey,  dont hate on the nicehash. in times of uncertainty, pointing a few rigs at nicehash makes me feel comfortable.

https://www.nicehash.com/miner/34RV1eTFYKFcx5AqF5rJTPB7KCbv4hdYk7

pays pretty good too.

I'm not hating on them.  I have a few rigs on NH as well.  I'm just calling out the OP, because he can't do his own fucking homework.  That's all.
