The profitability of mining increased after the huge rise in btc's. but buying a 1 GH ~0.04 doesn't look like a good deal. also with difficulty changes keeping it as shares might not be profitable.
662  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: GUIMiner username/password on: January 04, 2014, 04:27:47 PM
You might want to check some guides and instruction on bitcoin.it regarding mining, I think they are asking for your pool's username/password. You also need the order and pool's Address.
663  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How many newbies are mining? on: January 04, 2014, 04:25:52 PM
I am not a total newbie but just heard about btc's few months ago. I am mining with CPU therefore XPM since it's one of the few coins you can mine with CPU.

665  Other / Meta / Re: Can we Propose a BitcoinTalk.org App? on: January 04, 2014, 03:59:14 PM
Making an app just for this forum might take sometime and considering we are waiting for months for avatars bug to be fixed I doubt this proposal will be done at least by the forum administration.

667  Other / Meta / Re: (PETITION) The act of BUYING/SELLING Bitcointalk.org Accounts (Poll) on: January 04, 2014, 03:50:41 PM
I guess this was made since people would sell/buy them anyway but allowing it in public made it even more popular and even more people doing it as it's "not against the forum rules".  Anyway that's for the admin to decide.

669  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bitcoin's role in the US's 2014 midterm elections? on: January 04, 2014, 03:45:24 PM
I doubt bitcoin will be the new point to fight on this time, and although it will get allot of press if that happens some people might take an opinion against it because of there political opinions or the press against it.
670  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Free 0.001 bitcoin for Bitcointalk members on: January 04, 2014, 03:42:40 PM

671  Other / Meta / Re: When will my forum activity go up? on: January 04, 2014, 03:38:52 PM
The activity is calculated by the number of 2 weeks period you were active in*14 or the number of posts (The lowest of these two values).
672  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: DO NOT USE CAMPBX! on: January 04, 2014, 03:37:11 PM
there are tons of complaints about them recently. also they didn't remove the dwolla part (last time I checked the website) though dwolla stopped dealing with btc's.   The other US options include LBC and CB now and perhaps circle and few others in the future.
673  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: from eWallet to paper on: January 04, 2014, 03:34:17 PM
Before creating the addresses you should go offline.
After creating the papers boot your computer with a Linux Live CD, while still being offline, and format it completely.
This. also you might want to use armory's offline-wallet but it's someway difficult.
674  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ASIC Miners on: January 04, 2014, 03:30:55 PM
BFL Seems to have some delays and with new orders it might take sometime. KNC seems good but there are some negative feedback about technical issues after getting it. I am not sure but IMO buying a ready miner is better than making a pre-order that the delivery time for isn't confirmed.
675  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hi folks! on: January 04, 2014, 03:12:53 PM
WDC is a nice coin and it's price is relatively good (Compared to some other alt-currencies). I am not familiar with that coin properties however or it's technical details.
676  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Wich wallet can I use on: January 04, 2014, 03:10:48 PM
You can use the wallet you like but if you mean the easiest IMO it's be multibit (I am talking about PC wallets here).also using armory offline wallet following security instruction provided might be useful in securing the coins if you won't be using it regularly.
677  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My account is a few years old. on: January 04, 2014, 03:07:49 PM
Just wait for 6 minutes after login and try reaching the 10-20 activity range. the time limit will decrease to about 1 min so it should be easy to keep with.
678  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-01-02] CoinDesk : 56% of Bitcoiners Believe Bitcoin Will Reach $10000 on: January 04, 2014, 03:05:13 PM
I think that price is too high but of course you can't predict the BTC price.   just few months ago it was at less than a hundred and considered High and in 7 days it jumped to the $1000 level.
679  Other / Meta / Re: The forum is now unusable via Tor on: January 04, 2014, 03:03:10 PM
I doubt a bitcoin forum would target tor nodes. IMHO The issue is that it's used by random spamming bots when they are IP banned. and for that even if they were unbanned now, if someone abuses them again to spam they will be blacklisted etc...
680  Other / Meta / Re: So is the forum owner ever... on: January 04, 2014, 02:58:13 PM
Upgrading this forum to a relatively newer version of SMF with less breaches and weaknesses (and possibly less than 1 hack every two months) shouldn't take that much money (as the forum has thousands of btc's). there might be a downtime but if it's possible to transfer data gradually it might even lower it.   and we could have our avatars back!  Tongue
