661  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bitcoin in China on: March 10, 2015, 04:54:19 AM
"While private parties can hold and trade bitcoins in China, regulation prohibits financial firms like banks from doing the same." and "Trading bitcoins by individuals is legal in China."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legality_of_bitcoin_by_country#China

So, if you are not a bank, insurance company or a payment company than you can trade it, use it, whatever you want.

Banned, but, unofficially.

The paper from PBOC(12.5 file) claims Chinese citizens has the right the make a deal with Bitcoin at our own risk, but it's also clear that Bitcoin is not a legal currency in China.

China government said we're free to exchange Bitcoin, but in fact, we aren't, government have blocked the exchange bank account and try to stop us from depositing money to exchanges.

Hmm... Does this mean that only banks can't deal with bitcoin (which is what Snail2's post implies) or that BTC exchanges and companies that deal with BTC can't have bank accounts with banks that don't deal with BTC? (which is what innocent93's post implies)? The two concepts are quite separate. A bank that decides to accept cryptos would be breaking the first rule and the second rule but a bank that merely lets companies that deal with BTC open bank accounts with them would not be breaking the first rule but it would be breaking the second rule.

Also if innocent93's post is correct, then it does make it much more difficult for traditional exchanges. However trading via LocalBitcoins would still be possible and is probably the best solution for someone who wants to buy or sell bitcoins in China right now.
There is not too much effect to the exchange.
We still can buy or sell bitcoin in Exchange as OKCOIN, HUOBI, in China.
Deposit fiat money is not convenient as before,  but still very simple.
Bitcoin is a legal asset, but not a legal money.

Smiley
As a master of one bitcion application. I think I have more details for why they run.

firstly,to run a site is expensive , including the code ,hosting, and human's time.

secondly, to attractive stable users is more expensive , for example ,I paid 2.75btc on this forum to theymos just for one slot to show just one week.

and the profit is not that great.and some times  there is no public income according to the game rule. the master's income depends on luck. like some dice and blackjack games.

so we must focus on the master's benefit , whether the master can make both ends meet at least. and withdraw as much as you can , to protect your btcs from site side accident.

How  expensive to run a site?
if you can steal more bitcoins than you spend to run the site,
And you sure you can't be catch.
Then you have the motivate to run.

665  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Hundreds Of Big Companies Urge Supreme Court To Back Gay Marriage on: March 09, 2015, 12:14:50 PM
They'd better! If they don't, they're in for the public political lynching of their lives. Notice that none of these companies "backed gay marriage" until a few Federal judges with pony-tails struck down tens of millions of voters who were attempting to keep this load of weird-ass biological filth out of the country's mainline. Funny how it has now been parleyed intro this "Look, John Q. America... everybody's in agreement with the program, so you'd better get on board" crap. The Left knows the drill......
666  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Director of Counterterrorism busted for soliciting sex from a minor on: March 09, 2015, 12:02:06 PM
Just more of the low level chaos allowed to percolate throughout the administration. The tone is set at the top. "Rules? What rules? We don't need no steenking rules". The Secret Service lapse also indicative of the atmosphere - no discipline.
667  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The NSA’s Call Records Program Didn’t Stop a Single Terrorist Attack on: March 09, 2015, 11:51:17 AM
What's that? A government agency spying on its citizens didn't catch a single terrorist. It's almost like they were looking in the wrong place?
668  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Greece Proposes Using Tourists as Tax Spies to Fill Shortfall... on: March 09, 2015, 11:49:26 AM
But will the tourists be safe? Certainly not if they are discovered. I remember around10 years ago when on holiday. All of a sudden we were given receipts for everything in shops, bars and restaurants. When queried we were told that the tax inspector was in town. After a couple of days he moved on to an agricultural village around 5 miles inland and apparently he was picked up by some locals in a pick up van and badly beaten and left in a ditch at the side of the road.
669  Other / Off-topic / Re: If BTC goes to $1000 or more, what would you do? on: March 09, 2015, 11:40:15 AM
Nothing, it's just $1000, the potential should be more than $10K.

How much chance people can win?
If the chance is small, then just ignore it.

672  Other / Off-topic / Re: What continent are you from? on: March 09, 2015, 03:58:06 AM
If I had to guess, I'd guess China. China has a LOT of people. Chinese people are all over these boards!
Unfortunately, this forum has been blocked by Chinese GFW.
So I don't think there are lot of Chinese people in here.

674  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is it true that strong "social connections" are required for happiness? on: March 09, 2015, 03:51:52 AM
I just saw a PBS show about emotional health that claims "social connections" are required for happiness. Do you believe this is true? ...or
Perhaps it is propaganda to undermine the happiness of independent people who don't always require the "emotional support" of others?

What do you think?
Is it true that strong "social connections" are required for happiness?

No, the  happiness is just decided by people themselves.
And family is more important than "social connections"
675  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the purpose of creating a new wallet for, why not use just 1? on: March 08, 2015, 12:08:41 PM
Today I would like to ask the community what and how the wallet systems work on block chain.info

So I  make a new wallet for any incoming transaction, does this help add anonymity to my wallets, or does it still come down to my wallet identifier. I am trying understand why people recommend to always use a new wallet for every incoming transaction.

Something doesnt make sense to me….
I believe the only purpose to create multi wallet is to improve anonymous.
you can use different wallet for different purpose.

不过根据此前的消息VC投资者Tim Draper可能悄然收购了这批比特币

这个可能是谣言吧,有网站报道tim draper本次并没有参加。

677  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Hillary conducted official State business on her private e-mail account — ALL on: March 08, 2015, 05:26:42 AM

Obama: All my emails 'are available and archived'

President Obama was asked about Hillary Clinton’s secret emails during his trip to Selma, Alabama Saturday and said he did not know his Secretary of State was using a secret account until he read it in the news. The president also noted he does not follow Clinton’s practice of secrecy.

“Mr. President, when did you first learn that Hillary Clinton used an email system outside the U.S. Government for official business while she was Secretary of State?” asked CBS’s Bill Plante.

“The same time everybody else learned it, through news reports,” Obama said.

Plante asked if Obama was disappointed to learn of Clinton’s practices. “Let me just say that Hillary Clinton is and has been an outstanding public servant,” Obama answered. “She was a great Secretary of State for me. The policy of my administration is to encourage transparency, which is why my emails — the Blackberry I carry around — all those records are available and archived, and I’m glad that Hillary’s instructed that those emails about official business need to be disclosed.

When I was in school, my old man came to get me due to an emergency. This was well before cell phones. The school told him they wouldn't let me out of class. Old man pushed his way through the school people, went into the room and got me himself. School threatened to call police. Old man suggested they call a lawyer instead, and prepare to defend against kidnapping lawsuit.

Are bitcoins banned in China?
I'm currently doing business with exchange services in China. Is bitcoin illegal or what kind of requirements I need in order to make transactions with bitcoin?
No, China didn't ban bitcoin, but ban bitcoin as money.
That means the shop's can't accept bitcoin as payment.
but you can buy bitcoin in China.
680  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: blockchain.info now shows CHINA mining 54% of BTC on: March 07, 2015, 12:56:38 PM
I am not surprise that China has the most mining as the price of bitcoin explosion in the end of 2013 because of Chinese people.
