Yup, same, I used to surf all my time here when I had free time, but now that I am more busy, I can only check in about 2 a day only, which is also a good thing that I can spend more time offline to do work. Smiley

I will have to learn how to manage my time more, at the same time give myself time for Bitcoin and other interests. Cheesy

I don't know if after paying it actually works, I mean the virus is probably still there, and can attack any time.  Undecided Nothing is safe on the internet... Sad

Yes it looks like you are not the only one. Now I am starting to feel afraid too...

... Not sure whether I wanna laugh or I wanna cry...

So it seems like this is another ransomware attack, different soup, same ingredients, mostly likely a similar virus. Anyone have advice on what to do? (E.g. Backup files...)

The twitter page here is having a commotion there right now.
https://twitter.com/hashtag/petya

The best thing to do will be to wait for an official national announcement as you are not the only one. Hopefully someone will be able to solve this again.
664  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Poloniex account hacked and all monies traded away, TICKET NUMBER # 273741 on: June 27, 2017, 01:11:57 PM
Someone got hold of my password and logged in from an IP address in Japan, I am based in London.
Here is how the money was stolen, He did not withdraw any. I had notional value of $17000 in different coins. He converted them to BCN, then he went on and started trading BCN on a very wide spread. He sat on the other side of the trade and kept buying and selling from my account, buying high and selling low, him collecting the spread in that time. He kept doing this until my $17000 was reduced to mere $400.

It was a hacker from Japan according to login email
Thats the thing which I don't get Undecided The thing is even if the hacker sells low and buy high from your account, there's no way he can ensure he is the want who will receive what you sell or what you buy. Did you set your settings such that you receive email notifications or require validation upon withdrawals?

I really have no clue what is going on, but there might be some reason behind such activity which is possible to find. I have some suspicions but I do not dare confirm for now.
665  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase problem on: June 27, 2017, 12:55:17 PM
Do you mind sending the image here? (Of course censor appropriately) It might not be clear enough, as stated. Maybe you can find a professional photographing store if needed.

You can try using your passport or driver's license too if that helps. You can also use online editors to sharpen your images. Smiley
666  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Poloniex account hacked and all monies traded away, TICKET NUMBER # 273741 on: June 27, 2017, 12:31:40 PM
Do you mind explaining more about how your account was hacked?

Did someone gain access to your account and sold your coins at a low price? What happened after that? Did the 'scammer' not withdraw anything from your account?

If you have any other exchange sites/online wallets with BTC, do change your passwords if they are the same. You might not have a lot options now but the best you can to is to stop this from happening again. If the scammer indeed has taken away all your coins, if would be hard for you to get back your coin, sadly. Sad

Did you know anyone who might have gained access to your computer? That might be a possibility too.
667  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wanna Cry new ? please help on: June 27, 2017, 12:24:51 PM
Oh my, that seems really serious. Is it just that the computers at your work are infected, or is this virus spreading throughout the country? We may not be able to help much in this but I think this is a serious issue and I suggest you to report this crime for investigation.

Depending on your country, you should call and ask for help/file a complaint.  Lips sealed Undecided

Is there a time limit to this? Huh
668  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I think i got scammed by "shapeshift.io" and bestchange can't be trusted ! on: June 27, 2017, 12:13:46 PM
I also got to know about shapeshift.io recently and I even thought it was a good service that charges low fees.

I checked the id that you gave and they really gave you a fake id. They did not reply to your messages at all?

I think this may be a possible scam, anyone else encounter this issue? If this is serious you can open up a scam accusation thread against shapeshift. For now stay away from that and use more trusted sites like Poloniex or Bittrex for trading.

I really hope you get your coins back.  Undecided

The links at the sidebar does not work, seems like you added 'schrodingers.net/' in front of the URL.
Quiz Link :https://schrodingers.net/results/ceesty.com/qZa7Sn

I love the video feature too, been listening to that on replay for many times already, that song is really catchy haha! (Got my reward for viewing the video Tongue)

Is it possible if the link to the video uses the ceesty short link instead? Smiley
670  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Waves Wallet Recommendation? on: June 27, 2017, 05:19:54 AM

Okay so the address that shows on the log is the address i receive my waves.  But its also my login to my account?   So if someone knows my waves address, then assuming they get my password, they can access my account?  That doesnt seem that good idea if you know what i mean.

When i get my first waves, would shapeshift be fine if i exchange bitcoin for waves?  What do you mean you have to deposit from someone else?  Im confused about this.
Yes in a way, your address is your username, like the picture shown below. Choose a strong password, and of course don't disclose it to anyone.

Shapeshift is a new service to me, and it seems it has good reviews. You can use shapeshift, just follow their instructions will do, deposit Bitcoin to the given address, and give them your WAVES address. Smiley

This is just an example^
671  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Best Way to Buy ETH, Litecoin, Waves? on: June 27, 2017, 05:02:06 AM
you can exchange btc for eth and ltc on poloniex?  What are the fees for converting?
The fees at Poloniex is 0.15% for selling (maker) and 0.25% for buying (taker) and it can be reduced to 0% and 0.05% respectively given your 30 days trading volume. (that is for trading volume > 120,000 BTC by the way)

If you want to buy WAVES too, I recommend Bittrex as Poloniex does not currently have WAVES. Bittrex fees are the same, 0.25% for all trades. Smiley

Are these the fees when buying with bank transfer or with btc?  Are rates different depending on which way you pay?

Do you know how much fees shapeshift charges if converting btc to waves, eth, litecoin etc?
Sorry to get back to you late, the fees that I listed are the fees for trading, where the site charges you a commission fee for every trade you make.

The withdrawal fees on these sites are based on the coin, and charges about 2 USD (or less) if it is an alt (really depends), no charges for deposit.

You cannot directly buy Bitcoin on Poloniex and Bittrex, but you can use CoinBase and connect your bank account there and buy Bitcoin/LTC/ETH directly.

Hope I clarified your doubts. Smiley
672  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Market manipulation? on: June 27, 2017, 04:49:44 AM
I have noticed similar trends before, when almost all the altcoins suddenly dropped/rose in value. I speculate that there may be people (its like a group with many people) who decide to 'pump' the coin by buying it in a large volume to raise its value then sell it.

But of course it may be directly linked to the price of Bitcoin, when the Bitcoin prices drop, you can sell your altcoins, and when Bitcoin price rises again, you buy back the altcoin and now you have more altcoins than before.

Just a guess. Smiley Good question though, and I believe too that the market may be manipulated.  Undecided
673  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Micro Transactions? on: June 27, 2017, 04:42:23 AM
If you are talking about buying at a low price and selling high for Bitcoins, then yes it is possible. If you just go for margin profits, the commission fees might eat up your profits. Of course you can have a larger trading volume (Buy even more to sell more), but that will only give higher risks.

It's just like stocks, same idea, but do be careful if you are depending your earnings on this, since Bitcoin is REALLY volatile. (Currently)
674  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Best place to buy coins on: June 26, 2017, 02:02:24 PM
To buy Bitcoins, you can try out CoinBase. Smiley However don't store your coins there, storing it in an online wallet isn't safe.

For altcoins, I recommend Bittrex as it is one of the most popular, secure site and many altcoins are listed there too. Other than that, check out Poloniex and see which one you prefer. Smiley

I personally use Poloniex more as I find it user friendly, but I use Bittrex too for certain altcoins that are not listed in Polo, like WAVES.

Welcome to the forum! Grin
675  Economy / Services / Re: 🌟Free Simple Avatars! #DoodleChallenge!🌟 on: June 26, 2017, 12:16:36 PM
Nice avatars as well.. good luck bro.
First of all, thank you so much for this avatar, I will be using it whenever am not in an avatar and signature campaign. Secondly, sorry for thanking you this late.  Smiley Hopefully, you will be making new avatars soon because I have advertised your service to many of my friends.

Aww, thanks! It would be quite hard to juggle work and doing what I like, but of course I will take time to work on new avatars! Smiley

I will keep this service free, and maybe let forum users who request an avatar wear a promotional avatar I made (on the OP the *cute* one on top) and personal text so that I will only make avatars for users who really want. Cheesy
676  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase is Down... Again on: June 26, 2017, 07:45:30 AM
I think as an exchange it is still good, but not as a wallet. Don't store large amounts in online wallets, especially before Aug 1st, best to keep it in a client. Smiley

Right now its back up again, I still trust CoinBase, but not with all my coins. Cheesy

678  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Fees on: June 26, 2017, 05:44:53 AM
i recently looked up out of interest what i payed back in the day in Fees.
Its insane how much the fees increased.
2016-02-09 58$: 26 cents Fees.
2017-06-19 50$: 1.91$ Fees.

I hate it everyday when i pay with bitcoins. Bitcoin turns into Fiat Fees.
The Fees completly destroyed luckyb.it/ for example. They needed to make it a High rolling game.
Honestly, Bitcoin was not meant to be a digital currency for daily usage, but rather meant for an investment. I agree that the fees have gone up so high that faucets are not worth, and small donations/transactions are wasted due to fees.

If you are not in a hurry and you can customize your fees (if you are using a bitcoin client), then you can choose to minimize your fees if you are not in a hurry. However if you set too low fees, it may not go through. Check this thread below. Smiley

Low/Zero Fees
679  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Schrodingers - Ask. Answer. Earn. [EARN SATOSHI TODAY!] on: June 26, 2017, 05:34:24 AM
Ok, I like the new earnings for asking questions, but for answering questions, I prefer the multiple times a day system more, I would suggest 20 satoshis and 3 times per day, because I want to see more answers rather than questions, and this is more fair for the newcomers too. Smiley

And maybe you can increase the quiz rewards too, like bonus satoshis for the first 10 users who complete it. What is the time when the quiz is updated? Is it 12am UTC time?
680  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Waves Wallet Recommendation? on: June 26, 2017, 05:23:23 AM
Anyone can reply to my last post?
Hey guys created an account.  However is there a way to change your password etc?

I cannot find this on the options.

Also so the address that is shown where you use to log in... is that the waves address you give sites or others if they send you waves?

What is the encoded seed, private key and public key?

I believe the seed is what you need if you want to restore your waves client on new computer right?

So what is encoded seed, private key and public key?  Do i have to copy and save those somewhere?

Also could you buy waves on this client?  Because it seems to offer this option when you click on waves/usd?  But how can you even buy waves this way since i assume you have to connect bank account?  Also notice there is waves/btc under favorites.  Could you buy waves with btc with this client?

Yes, the address shown on your log in is the address you receive your WAVES.

You copy the seed and remember the basic details like your address and password, then you can use online platforms like waveswallet.io also to access it.

To get your first waves, unfortunately, you would have to deposit from somewhere else as the client charges 0.003 WAVES fee for every transaction, including buying.

I recommend Bittrex to get your first WAVE then you can start using your wallet.

If you are interested in leasing, check out the details I compiled here! Smiley
