6601  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: January 17, 2022, 11:19:50 PM
Ben Simmons rumors are heating up...  I'm hearing that Sacramento might be willing to deal Fox now and that they might also be willing to take Harris' contract which is a bit ridiculous.  There's also supposedly a 3rd team that will be involved, but we'll have to wait and see.  Interesting that Simmons to Sacramento seems to keep coming back into play.  I think he really wants to be in California and is willing to play for the worst team in California to try and make that happen.  It seems like Fox is probably the best player that they'll be able to get back as well, so I think that is ultimately what the end result will be.

NBA Twitter sounding off today about just how bad Tobias Harris’ contract is. Maybe the worst contract in NBA history. If the Kings give up Fox and take Harris, I might have to try harder to become a billionaire just so I can fire the general manager and restore the Kings to their greatness of 20 years ago (ironically when I left Sacramento).
6602  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [self-moderated] Is LN Bitcoin? franky1: About scaling, on-chain and off-chain on: January 17, 2022, 10:47:04 PM
For me at least, the Lightning Network does not contain the properties that to me make Bitcoin special.  I don't think it can even be debated whether LN is Bitcoin or not.  It isn't.  Lightning is Bitcoin like WBTC is Bitcoin.  There's little difference in my opinion.  Going a step further, I think the LN is just a fancy IOU with some code behind it.

I'm happy if people want to stack sats and transact on the Lightning Network.  More power to them.  Who knows, maybe LN will never have any issues and turn out to be the main global payment system.  I find that unlikely given it's shortcomings, but I think it would probably make a good NFT platform.  Even in El Salvador, I'm told that transacting in USDT over the Tron network is the preferred method of transfer for various reasons I won't go into because promoting shit scam networks and stablecoins ain't my thing.
6603  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] old school ASIC on: January 17, 2022, 10:37:19 PM
I've got some original USB ASICminer Block Erupters.  Haven't thought about them in a while or have any idea if they're worth anything.  I think they sold for 1-2 BTC originally back in the day.  I'd take a fraction of that now, unless you're one of the 1 BTC equals 1 BTC guys, then I'll happily accept the original Bitcoin price for them.  Smiley

I've got some of the original Butterfly Labs FPGA miners as well, although you did not mention mining hardware that old school.  Good luck with your search!
6604  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 3080Ti FE keep or sell ? on: January 17, 2022, 01:04:14 AM
I managed to get two cards at MSRP, a 3090 FE and a 3080Ti FE.

The question I'm sure everyone wants to know is how did you get your hands on two of these cards at retail price.  I've been trying for seemingly years now and the best I've been able to do is a 3060ti at MSRP.  Would love to get my hands on either of those beautiful monsters mentioned above.  If you could be so kind as to share with the class where and how you managed to get them or retail pricing, I'm sure everyone would be most appreciative.  Thank you.  Smiley

I spoke with Mick (mjb) yesterday. Great guy who has been unappreciated for his contribution to the space. He’s still available for design work if anyone wanted to hire a legend to work on some designs for you (he did my binary rounds). I’m even sending him a free care package tomorrow as a thank you after being reminded of his work. I think Mick Bruce and Gavin Andresen (also Casascius but we had very little direct communication) were very inspirational for me in my coin making journey here.

I’ve also got a couple of the original brass ones and a 0.1 gram scale if that is at all helpful.
6607  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin total supply is not 21M on: January 16, 2022, 12:18:00 AM
It's not exactly 21M, but any analysis you do assuming it's exactly 21M is going to be valid anyway.

The real key element is that it's a finite number.

Agreed.  I do like how people's minds get blown by the idea that if you only keep going 1/2 the distance to your target, you will never arrive.  Smiley

Sort of how I think of Bitcoin's supply.  Certainly applies over the course of what will be my lifetime.
6608  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BitcoinTalkShow] Best of January suggestions on: January 16, 2022, 12:10:46 AM
More lambos...  More drama...  At least one scene of crazy zooming in and out while repeating a phrase of some sort.

I'm thinking something along the lines of the Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm Flailing Tubeman Emporium and Warehouse commercial on Family Guy.

6609  Economy / Goods / Re: ~ Buying a TESLA CYBERTRUCK with BITCOIN ~ on: January 15, 2022, 08:09:11 PM
^ I hope everyone that preordered ahead of me goes elsewhere. I think most who preordered realize the innovation of the exoskeleton and would laugh at any comparison to an F-150. Personally, I don’t even want an F-150 and wouldn’t trade the car I have now for it as there’s no real innovation there, but I’ll wait another 2 years for the Cybertruck if I have to. I think it’s tough for many people to realize innovation before it’s demonstrated to them, which is why there are still people who don’t realize this will be the greatest civilian vehicle ever produced.
6610  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Fear Index at 10 on: January 15, 2022, 07:59:48 AM
I am still a bit let down we didn't see a massive bubble and pop that would have put Bitcoin all over the news and created lots of amazing content to enjoy.  I don't really understand where the fear comes from.  We still seem to be stuck in a trading range since breaking out early last year to new highs.  Granted it's a large trading range, but nothing to be fearful of, at least not yet...  I read somewhere that if your mood is effected by the volatility of an asset, then you are too overexposed to an asset.  That's how you know.  Smiley  Don't be fearful, be more diversified.
6611  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will owning 0.01 BTC really make you rich? on: January 14, 2022, 11:19:59 PM
I've read a few articles on the web which indicated you could get rich with just 0.01 BTC. At first, it seemed crazy to me considering that Bitcoin is still below $1m. But then it started to make sense after knowing that the pioneer cryptocurrency was designed with deflation in mind. Each halving had a positive effect in BTC's price, so one would guess the next one will lead us to a BTC worth more than $100k. To become a millionaire with 0.01 BTC, the price of one Bitcoin must be $100m. Prices are still volatile, so I'm having my doubts whenever I'd really become rich with just 0.01 BTC or not.

What do you think? Is it really possible to become rich with 0.01 BTC in the future? If not, why? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much. Smiley

The answer is almost certainly, "No."

Even if Bitcoin did hit $100,000,000 per coin (unlikely), the macro economic environment that would have caused it would make $1,000,000 barely enough to pay your bills for a year.  Certainly it wouldn't be considered rich by any means.

I think if you want to feel rich, buy a dog.  They'll follow you around begging for food.  It's not that different from being wealthy.
6612  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price Forecast by Goldman Sachs on: January 14, 2022, 10:47:57 PM
I liked it better when these big banks were bearish on Bitcoin.  Now you know they've switched gears into pump mode because they've already filled their bags and want you to dump your money into their investment funds so they can rake in management fees.  The more they pump, the more the management fees on their bags are worth.  That scares me because once they've sold all the BTC in their bags to investors and talked the price up as high as they can, they short and crash.  You won't want to be around for that...  The next leg up might be the one to sell.
6613  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcing the FutureBit Apollo BTC - A Full Node/Mining Platform for the Home! on: January 14, 2022, 09:26:35 PM
Nice!  Did you get any notification it was shipped or did it just show up?  Was it sent to your mailbox or dropped off via fedex or ups?  I'm just curious if I should be keeping my eyes on my mailbox, door, or email box.  Thanks!

Next time drop us some pictures man.  You seem to be the first guy to get one from the latest batch and we're all chomping at the bit for something we can lay our eyes on.   Shocked

You will get a notification before your unit leave the factory with a tracking number. We ship via fedex.

Awesome.  I got my notification and can't wait to try out one of these bad boys.  Great to know they're getting out the door.  Will try and put up some pics when it arrives unless someone beats me to it or I get too busy (or lazy, nah that doesn't happen).  Looking forward to that alert from my security cams that a fedex man has just left me a present.  Smiley

Any last words of advice for new Apollo owners as these start showing up on doorsteps?
6614  Other / Politics & Society / Re: I will never buy a Tesla car on: January 14, 2022, 09:22:19 PM
If you could go ahead and tell everyone else not to buy Teslas either I would very much appreciate it.  I ordered one 2 years ago and will still be waiting years to get it.  No model they make is available for immediate pickup.  You can actually purchase a Tesla and sell it when you get it for a huge profit.  How many other car companies can say their cars gain value when they roll off the showroom floor?  Answer: None.  Teslas are so obviously miles ahead of the competition at this point in the game, it will be impossible for them not to disappoint unless Elon is flying people to Mars in a decade where people are driving underground in tunnels via Cybertrucks...
6615  Economy / Goods / Re: ~ Buying a TESLA CYBERTRUCK with BITCOIN ~ on: January 14, 2022, 08:09:49 PM
With the mess that is our current supply chain, grocery stores can’t even keep items on the shelf. I can only imagine the difficulties and delays that is costing companies like Tesla. I wouldn’t be surprised if we had to wait for a new president that has a clue to fix the mess at the ports before things can even start making their way back to normal. Until then, we wait for this monster of a vehicle to be produced and enjoy the leaks.
6616  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: January 13, 2022, 10:46:58 PM
I really don't understand the Lakers...  Dwight Howard has been playing literally at an MVP level this season when he's on the floor, and while he is barely getting any minutes, his impact is obvious.  There must be something going on behind the scenes because I believe Dwight being let go last year is why they didn't make the Finals and now they're talking about trading him!  Absolutely insane.  There has to be stuff going on we aren't seeing.  I know Dwight has been "sus" for quite a while in the league due to various questionable antics, but as a basketball fan I want to see him out there...

6617  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Share your story: what would you do when vaccines get mandatory? on: January 13, 2022, 10:36:28 PM
I love the word mandatory.  It allows me to show people how powerless they are in influencing my personal decisions.  As an American, it's absolutely hilarious that people think the government forcing anything on it's entire population is even a possibility.  I'm seeing all these videos out of the EU of police carting old ladies off the streets and taking them to jail for not having their paperwork on them.  All I can say is where I live that isn't even a concern...  Our supreme court wouldn't ever allow such stupidity from our leadership and if they did my local community sure wouldn't comply.  This is why we as Americans cling to our gun rights so strongly.  It's important for the government to understand they work for us, not the other way around.  Employers don't take orders from employees and the government is funded by it's citizens... At least until the liberals are able to enslave us all with universal income...
6618  Other / Meta / Re: Official Bitcointalk NFTs that can be used as avatars? on: January 13, 2022, 07:28:45 PM
I must admit that 5-6 years ago I could not even dream that people would engage in such nonsense, and that they would make money from that.

Sounds like my take on signature campaigns, but here we are. Let me know when you buy your first NFT.  Wink
6619  Other / Meta / Re: [NEW EPISODE] TheBitcoinTalkShow - Second episode is here! on: January 13, 2022, 06:47:26 AM
I’m just now sitting down to watch these episodes… I noticed my name at the 4:20 mark in the first episode. I must say that I feel honored and special.  Cheesy

I had to pause the video when I saw that just to post here.  Grin

I’ll reserve my thoughts and feedback for when the giddiness has worn off.
6620  Economy / Speculation / Re: [POLL] Will Bitcoin dip below $40K? on: January 13, 2022, 06:04:01 AM
I would just like to point out that it is true what they say...  There is only 1 Miss Cleo.  That's how you know the poll is accurate.  Copied but never duplicated.  LOL

Oh what I wouldn't give to be able to give you a call and ask you about the Bitcoin price in the future Miss Cleo.  RIP.  I can only imagine it would have been a laugh that would keep on giving to the delight of everyone.

Question:   Will Bitcoin dip below $40K? (for at least 24 hours)
Yes   - 19 (67.9%)
No   - 8 (28.6%)
Who am I, Miss Cleo?   - 1 (3.6%)
