And then where did you get that money to spend your needs and wants?
From salary on your work? Which are you need more knowledge to perfect/master your work.
Then if you do not have any knowledge and you have much money I'll tell you it's still useless even to count your money you can't do that cause of knowledge lacking. So knowledge first before the money. Grin peace Pmalek.
Not all types of work require extensive schooling and knowledge. Some require bravery, a strong physique, being funny, or not being afraid of public appearances and speeches. A certain type of industry requires big schlongs or silicon breast.

There is a funny saying I heard some time ago and it goes like this: "Education is important but big biceps are importanter".
6742  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Why I wouldn't buy Ledger Nano S ever again? on: December 13, 2021, 09:43:31 AM
<Snip>
It's not really a revolutionary prediction you are making there. A new product is getting developed that is meant to eliminate the shortcomings of its forerunner. Once released, it makes the old device less attractive and outdated. Isn't that the way that technology works outside the scope of hardware wallets as well?

I am just saying that it's going to take time. The production of the old Nano S could stop in a month, but you are still going to be able to use your device and they will surely keep making software upgrades for it as well for some time until their clients either purchase a newer Ledger brand or switch to a different company all together.

Not bad. But I already foresee these comments, like, but if the negative tags is not objective and is left out of revenge...
I have never considered those important. If you tagged me for being a scammer based on proof and for a legitimate reason, and out of revenge I tagged you as well adding nothing but profanity in the comment box, that tag has no weight or value whatsoever.

Conversations about the fact that this option also helps to fight spam does not carry anything, otherwise we would see just streams of spam in Meta, because in this section there is no self-moderation and no one is in power there, except for moderators, but there, surprisingly no spam.
Spammers know that if they started writing their low-value posts in Meta, it would end badly for them very soon. Some of the best posters and various forum detectives would put them under surveillance, reporting their posts, finding connections with previously banned accounts, and ultimately getting them banned. That's why they prefer to stay far away and in sections like the altcoin boards or off-topic.

In the same way that we have members who can whitelist newbies to not having to pay the evil fee, we can have users with whitelisting capabilities for threads in the marketplace boards. By default, that option should be turned off. If you want to create a self-moderated thread in the marketplace, you need to explain the reasons for wanting to do that. Just having such a thread should not be allowed.

A few suggestions:

- Everyone who doesn't have a history of scamming others should be allowed to request self-moderated threads.
- Brand-new accounts can't request it.
- Accounts with negative trust for legitimate reasons can't have self-moderated threads.
- If you can show the people who do the whitelisting that you have been targeted unfairly by certain members in the past who have spammed your threads and tried to prevent you from carrying out your business, you would be allowed to self-mod your threads in the marketplace.
6746  Other / Meta / Re: Would be nice to have a dedicated space to exchange on the NFTs? :) on: December 12, 2021, 09:56:09 AM
I will support a section for discussion related to NFTs. They might be the next big thing and it will be better if the forum is prepared for it in advance.
Some parts of the NFT industry are interesting. But most of it will be forgotten in the same way that other hyped trends were as well.

However, allowing members to be able to exchange this or buy NFTs here will not be possible to integrate on this forum. A separate platform will have to be created for that which will be competing with the best crypto exchanges in the world who are already doing good work.
NFTs are digital artworks. If you want to sell those, I see no reason why you cant do that in the Digital goods forum. Is there someone or something that prevents you from doing that? Are such threads getting locked by the admins? NFTs don't need to be integrated into the forum software and I doubt that will ever happen on this or any future Bitcointalk forum.
6747  Other / Meta / Re: Share your thoughts and opinions on: December 12, 2021, 09:43:52 AM
but money cannot buy more knowledge.

I disagree, with money you could buy book, paid tutorial/guide and even higher education. With degree (could be bachelor, master or PhD), there are more jobs available for you.
It's all connected in different ways. Money and wealth gives you access to things that you wouldn't have with knowledge alone. Your knowledge can get you accepted in a great college, but you need money to pay the tuition (unless you get a scholarship). Knowledge can land you that dream job you always wanted. But you need money to find a new apartment in a new town or maybe country where the position is located. New clothes, suits, travel expenses, etc., etc.
6748  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to select BitCoin address for receiving money? on: December 12, 2021, 09:25:29 AM
I receive BC:
2.) I will receive automatically the full BC amount and as soon as it is written to blockchain it appears automatically in my "Addresses" Tab as yellow line

correct?
You will see an incoming transaction as soon as the sender signs and broadcasts it on his end. If it's valid and picked up by nodes and included in their mempools, Electrum will show it to you, but in a green standard address and not a yellow change address.

Yes, electrum allows to select which address(es) you want to spend from.
To do so, go to "Addresses" tab and right-click on any of addresses you want to spend from and select "Spend".
I prefer selecting UTXOs from the "coins" tab instead of the "addresses" tab. You can have multiple UTXOs on the same address and using the "coins" tab is easier in such situations. But let's not confuse the OP with this right now.
6749  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Why I wouldn't buy Ledger Nano S ever again? on: December 12, 2021, 09:08:55 AM
People should think about and transfer their seed words to new device in time, or they will lend up like with ledger blue collectible.
Even if the production stops, the device will still be supported for some time. It won't happen overnight. They are not going to prevent you from accessing Ledger Live or their services with it. Even the old HW.1 still works (kind of) as mocacinno showed in this post.

I don't think that ledger will use better secure element, and screen will probably be same like for model nano x.
Check my reply to you regarding this in one of the other threads in this sub.
6750  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano S Plus on: December 12, 2021, 08:42:24 AM
There is no information about that yet, but I suspect they will probably use the same secure element like in their current devices, that is ST31H320 or ST33J2M0.
They have already released information about the secure element in one of their blog posts that highlighted everything that happened on the Ledger OP3N conference they just held. There is a link to the article in my previous post. For better visibility, let me quote the part where they mention the secure element:

Quote
The Nano S Plus will be equipped with the industry-leading security element: ST33K1M5C...

6751  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ANN] BITHD.com Razor (Card Design Hardware Wallet Released) on: December 12, 2021, 08:33:15 AM
Is this Razor defunct or still good? I see it's out of stock and successfully tested the firmware for reproducibility.
Considering that the OP hasn't been online since July last year, I would say that it doesn't look very good. He isn't around to inform the community of any updates, the wallet can't be ordered and is out of stock, and it was mentioned elsewhere that there is no activity on their GitHub whatsoever.
6752  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Possible Compromised Laptop With Seed in Password Manager? on: December 12, 2021, 08:28:20 AM
Can't imagine you write down your password on paper for each bank and email... especially if the password could be a 50 word character etc.
Those can all be reset. You forget your password, you reset it and request a new one over your email. If you lose or forget your email, you contact your bank, verify yourself, and have them change whatever details are needed so you an have access to your account again. And like o_e_l_e_o mentioned, you can use 2FA with online banking. Who are you going to contact if you lose your passphrase or get it hacked/stolen? There is no customer service to change it for you and give you a new one. You are the customer service, the bank director, and the bank clerk.

I actually got another windows computer recently.  So go and try to restore the seeds on the new device is what everyone here suggest right?
Yeah do that if it's safe and malware-free. Brand-new from the shop or just recently had its OP reinstalled.

The issue is lot of the coins i have and the seeds, they do not support the coin.  If they did, i would transfer every single coin of mine that has a seed phrase into nano ledger.
What kind of shitcoins are you into that Ledger doesn't support them? They support over 1.000 different assets. That's not a reason to store your seeds digitally, nothing is.

The other thing is this.  Do you write down your google authenticator for sites like coinbase and binance etc on password manager?
There is this thing called a pen and paper. Some would say that it's obsolete technology, but it still works wonders you know!

Also im sure people here accidentally clicked on wrong links all the time.
Again im usually very careful with this which is why i haven't had issues.
How do you accidently click on wrong links all the time? Yes, it can happen sometimes, but it shouldn't. You are not careful about anything Jerry.

The issue is if i want to backup the things in my laptop, i dont want to back any infected files to it.  So what is the suggestion now?  I do not want to wipe all my files because there are some files that i did not transfer to either my usb flash drive or the cloud.
You are asking what to do, but you have already made up your mind to keep all your files, so keep them. Some of them may or may not be infected, who knows.

The other thing is this.  I do not see anything suspicious about my email addresses.  So would that mean most likely im not compromised?
Not necessarily. If I wanted to steal your crypto and your seed phrases, I don't need access to your email.

Again when this happened, I clicked on something and it went to a website that is not a legit site because the name of the site is not suppose to end the way its suppose to.
That's why you check what you click on before you click on it.

Also windows defender scanned a lot of threats on it which I rarely ever have etc.  It did seem to remove it but im note sure if its fully removed or not.
And? What do you want us to do about it? Your AV picked something up. It could be connected to the site you visited or it's from something earlier.

So you suggest changing my email passwords on my new computer and phone for any active email im currently using?
Changing them from time to time is a good idea anyways. Why not do it now when there is a possibility of an infection.

But what if someone put their google authenticator private key or thing like that on program manager.
There is something seriously wrong with you.

So basically even if someone has your username/password to the email, banking and crypto exchange passwords, unless they get your two factor authorization code, its useless for them right?
That's the whole point of having 2FA. No one can access your accounts with just the standard login details unless they also have the 2FA code. Jesus Christ!

What if its like those json files that is access to a certain crypto wallet?
JSON files just encrypt your private keys. If you have multiple copies of your seed phrase (written down on paper Jerry, not in password managers) you don't need copies of private keys or JSON files.

What two factor authorization do you use for all your accounts?
Any of them is better than having none. Here, use this source for some more info.

Again the issue here is many people accidentally click on links on their computer or on their phone.
That's irrelevant. If you stick your dick into a beehive, you are bound to get stung.
6753  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: For All Of You That Still Think SMS For 2FA For Wallets Is Or Was Safe. on: December 12, 2021, 07:36:43 AM
What is one to do regarding this is?
About a possible threat because one uses the same network? I assume we are talking about internet networks. Instead of one, use two different internet networks. Don't connect your phone to the same network that your computer is connected to. You could use your mobile data, for example, when you want to access your 2FA codes instead of WIFI.
6754  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bonus of over 1000 Euros stuck behind wager wall, fml on: December 12, 2021, 07:28:57 AM
I do not think he wants to spend money to get to the 30x wager requirements. He just wants to find a way for someone else to fall for this and then deposit into his account... for the "bonus" that does not exists.
That is a possibility, but if it's all just a cheap attempt to get someone else to send him the necessary funds (something that he has already refuted), I seriously doubt it will work. The OP doesn't contain information such as a promise to pay back a part of the profit, which could lure someone into doing it.

He or she could care less about your wagering tips, because he is just posting this to scam more people. I seriously doubt that he would take the time to read the ToS.  Roll Eyes
Whether he does it or not, it's up to him. That's the only way he could see those funds move into his own wallet.
6755  Other / Meta / Re: Do You Believe a New Forum Software Will Attract More Users to Bitcointalk? on: December 11, 2021, 07:26:09 PM
In fact, I think there is a third group, but it is very difficult for me to say how big it is.
These are members who are really interested in crypto and want to learn something new, make new friends and hang out.
I say this from personal experience because I brought a few friends to this forum and I know well their motivation to join this forum.
Unfortunately, none of them are active on this forum anymore.
Some failed to even register due to the 'evil fee' rule and some gave up after some negative experiences and accusations from older forum members.
I am sure there are such members, but I don't think that group is that big for it to be considered a major problem. Especially now when it's possible to get whitelisted manually by a number of high-ranked users who have been given permission to do that. If the evil fees were the biggest obstacle, they can now try again to get around it.

Life is a bitch and will find ways to kick their ass and punish them in ways much worse than the negative treatment they received here. Users can sometimes be harsh with newbies but just dust yourself off, get back up, and do your best. That shouldn't be a reason for them to give up and hopefully they will be ready to try again. We could use some fresh blood in the Croatian sub as well. Cool
6756  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bonus of over 1000 Euros stuck behind wager wall, fml on: December 11, 2021, 12:56:48 PM
I suggest you take a look at the bonus terms on the link below. It will explain what you need to do.
https://www.clubriches.com/en/contacts/bonus-policy

Their wagering requirement is 30X.
The source says that both the deposited money and the bonus money count towards the wagering requirements. But a deposit has to be made.

If you decide to try and fulfill the requirements, you need to know that not all games contribute equally to the wagering requirements. The only games that contribute 100% are slots and Slots and Scratch Cards. The rest contributes 10% or less. What does that mean for you? If you play Blackjack, for example, and you wager €100, due to a 10% wagering contribution, it's like you only wagered €10. But if you play slots or scratch cards, a €100 bet is considered a €100 wager.

It's all explained in the bonus terms I linked above. Read through it.
6757  Other / Off-topic / Re: {warning} Log4Shell: RCE 0-day exploit found in log4j2,this is gonna be HUUUUGE on: December 11, 2021, 10:47:05 AM
All those JDK versions that were mentioned in the quotes (those older than 6u211, 7u201, 8u191, and 11.0.1) are from 2018, so they are quite outdated. I think the latest versions are 17.something. How big of an impact can this discovered vulnerability have on open-source bitcoin projects? Bitcoinj uses Java for example.
6758  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Will there be no more topics to write about? on: December 11, 2021, 10:33:31 AM
The earth will never stop rotating and news about bitcoin and crypto will continue to be reported. Not all of it will be life-changing, but you will still be able to keep track of it and discuss its impact on the market as a whole or a certain region. We will see new crypto companies being developed and new features and improvements introduced. You can perform experiments and create your own projects based on publicly available and open-source code. Those ideas can grow and make networks run more efficiently. There will be new BIPs and proposals that will be discussed. Those with the required knowledge will talk about what that means for the blockchain.

I have no doubt that there will a lot of good things coming our way.
6759  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: MicroStrategy Announce Largest Crypto Event - SCAM E-MAIL on: December 11, 2021, 10:14:05 AM
We have arrived to the point where you can almost safely assume that everything you receive in your email that resembles promotions or giveaways can be classified as spam and a scam attempt. You need to be careful even with emails you expect to receive. Always double-check if it really comes from the official location and if in doubt, just delete it. No point clicking or giving any data to someone you aren't really sure about.
6760  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Why I wouldn't buy Ledger Nano S ever again? on: December 11, 2021, 10:01:44 AM
Pascal Gauthier CEO and Chairman of Ledger announced at ledgerop3n that Ledger will release NEW Ledger Nano S device that will support more coins, more apps, and bigger screen.
That means that current Nano S device is not going to be manufactured anymore and soon it will not be supported with updates, exactly the same thing happened with Ledger HW.1, Ledger Nano, Ledger Unplugged and Ledger Blue devices.
It is possible that the production will stop at one point in the future. The new Nano S Plus seems like a bigger competitor to the Nano X than to the old Nano S though. Bigger screen, better secure element, more internal memory, but no crap like Bluetooth or faulty internal battery. Maybe they are giving up on both the Nano S and X.
