Interview with Alan Yong on The Innovation Show

This is an excellent interview, one of the best, and well worth a listen to. Aidan Mccullen did a fantastic job interviewing Alan.

Author of “The Four Pillars of Business Success” and DNotes Co-Founder Alan Yong Offers Insights on how to create a Digital Currency by sharing the DNotes' Vision and Strategy.

We discuss everything you need to know about the formation of digital currency from the financial crisis to the rapid rise of Bitcoin.

Alan shares the need for trust in a new industry riddled with bad actors and Ponzi schemes.

This is a must listen for novice and expert wanting to learn more about cryptocurrencies, digital currencies, bitcoin and initial coin offerings (ICOs).

https://soundcloud.com/theinnovationshow/ep-112-creating-a-digital

An excellent interview with one of the industry's most compelling personalities, and a far cry from the typical self-promotion and focus on speculative value that we so often see from other people in the industry. Alan has a knack for bringing any discussion back to the issues that people really care about. The average person hears "digital currency" and wonders why they should care about it. How does it impact their lives? What problems is it trying to solve? In short, why does it matter? Well, it does matter, but it takes a visionary futurist like Alan to make that case in terms that even laypeople can understand. Well done, Mr. Yong.

I would, but that charming smiley face makes it impossible to ignore.

Right! I hate the fact that you can't delete a post that was in error so, "Smiley" will have to stand in and take the credit...

Oh, BTW, for anyone interested, Mercatox got my transfer "unstuck". I can put up with "growing pains" as long as tech support is responsive, and theirs is.

KUDOS to Mercatox' support team!

That is fantastic. Mercatox does seem to be very responsive, especially when you consider where they're at in their development as an exchange. Even some more well-known and established exchanges have endured these types of tech concerns, and some of them took even longer to acknowledge the need for improved customer service and responsiveness (Coinbase, for example, was very slow to realize the need for improvements in that area. They're much better now).

The good news is that any future DNotes exchange will have that focus on customer service baked into the cake before it's placed in the oven, rather than adding it as frosting after it's been sitting on the counter for several days.

New YouTube Video -- Using DNotes Pay For Pay-Per-Period Services

Demonstrating the use case of DNotes pay for pay-per-period subscription-based services. We show how software can be purchased on a casual, per-use, or ongoing basis charged at small fractional levels. We will be following up with another video that shows how our trading bot can be used.

Check it out here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9myDnwR7SF0&t=

Great job on the video Tim!

DNotes Pay, Pay-Per-Period is a unique way for software developers to sell their software. Even if you are not a software developer I recommend watching the video demonstration.

Pay-Per-Period, especially when dealing with smaller transactions, doesn't make sense when using traditional payment processing methods. This model opens up new opportunities for developers that will make their software more competitive in the marketplace.

Some of the benefits include:
Makes it possible to accept many small payments instead of paying a fee on every transaction and losing most of your profit to the payment processing companies.
Makes it possible to accept payments directly from the software without the need for a server side payment processing.
Payments are made directly from one party to another without the need for a middle man.
Makes it possible for customers to use software on their terms.
Makes it possible for the customer to test the software before paying full price.
& more

I'm sure many of you can relate to this scenario if you ever needed software for a one time use, or software that you might only use once in a while, and couldn't justify the price or justify locking yourself into some subscription agreement. So you either try to find some alternative, open source or free, or you just skip what it is you are working on. But imagine instead, you could just purchase access to that software for just 1 day for a very small fee? Would you be much more likely to purchase and use that software?

This is something a software developer can use and significantly benefit from today. Although there is still a fee if you want to exchange your DNotes into cash, but it can be a single fee for hundreds or thousands of transactions instead of paying hundreds or thousands of individual fees.

The source code for integration, in C# is available here:
https://github.com/DNotesCoin/dnotespay-sw-poc

That's a brilliant solution to a very common problem. I can't count the number of times I have either purchased software that I only needed to use for an hour or two every few months. And there have been even more instances in which I have decided not to purchase useful software because I only needed to use it for one or two quick operations and couldn't justify the expense. By providing a new way for that software to be sold on an as-needed basis, you can eliminate that frustration users sometimes experience when they purchase something they rarely need to use, and provide developers with an opportunity to avoid missing out on those customer transactions. Talk about a win-win...

Anyone else having Mercatox issues today? Have a stuck withdrawal from Merc to the vault, "processing" for over 12 hrs now...

I have been wondering about this exchange. Is it safe to buy/sell NOTE on this exchange.
Would love to hear some of the experiences from using this exchange, especially when depositing and withdrawing NOTE coins.

Well, I think they are having "growing pains" is all. The DNotes wallet was unavailable for about a week earlier this month and now my withdrawal from yesterday is "stuck" in process. Their tech support is very responsive and courteous but a bit slow. So, just be careful and realize there may be a hitch or two along the way...

PS: The interface is very easy to use once you get used to it, not as cluttered as many others are.

Thanks RJF, "growing pains" sounds great. This means that volume can expect to increase for the coins listed there. They sound like Poloniex. The wallets are always unavailable. I even had one of my withdrawals stuck for 5 months. Their support really suck/ed. I guess the bigger you get the harder it is to stay on top of everything.

@DNotes Any new exchanges we can expect?

We have been working with a few, but of course it's never been a definite until it's actually listed. In fact I just received a response from one yesterday asking for more information, which is always a good sign.

That's great news. Volume is looking very good on CoinMarketCap. Should get even better when NOTE gets listed on more high volume exchanges.
I have my fingers crossed. Hopefully that exchange will list our lovely NOTE coin Grin

Regarding Poloniex, they seem to be having some issues as of late. Who was it that bought them out?

Circle, https://www.recode.net/2018/2/26/17053194/circle-poloniex-acquisition-400-million

What issues are you finding?

Apparently, the State of Delaware, where they are incorporated, sent letters to a large percentage of their customers asking if they were having problems using the exchange, especially making withdrawals. Since they are incorporated in Delaware, that's not a good sign.

https://bitcoinprice.media/us-delaware-doj-reaches-out-to-poloniex-crypto-exchange-users-if-they-have-an-issue.html

Red flags if you ask me. Glad I stopped using them. I'm just worried that so many people use exchanges to store their cryptos in those wallets. I did this when I first started with BTC. MtGox should be a prime example why you never leave your coins in an exchange wallet.

Some seem unable to learn from other peoples mistakes. I have written so many warnings about storing coins on the exchanges, but i don't think I have convinced a single person yet. One dude even said that he think the coins is much safer on the exchange then in his own wallet...

Human beings are notoriously stubborn creatures. All we can do is continue to spread the word, and stress the importance of making sound decisions about crypto management and security. Fortunately, DNotes has went out of its way to ensure that its stakeholders understand why their holdings should be stored away from the exchanges. More importantly, DNotes has made that storage as simple as possible thanks to DNotesVault's secure environment. It's easy to use, and offers multiple layers of security to provide maximum protection for every stakeholder's account holdings - AND a guarantee fund that offers even more peace of mind.

An essay worth reading if you are about to shake off the corporate world and start out on your own:

https://medium.com/swlh/how-quitting-my-corporate-job-for-my-startup-dream-f-cked-my-life-up-3b6b3e29b318

And, don't forget Alan's book! One of the best guides to being successful I have ever seen!

A fantastic share, RJF. Thanks for posting the link. It brought back memories of the challenges I encountered after striking out on my own years ago. Granted, I left my comfortable position because I needed to be home to take care of my wife after she fell ill (couldn't do that and spend more than half of each day at the office, obviously), but the family and social pressure from outside the home was a near-constant for the first year or more. And the seemingly never-ending worries about money only made it harder to focus on sound strategy and solid decision-making. Or much of anything substantive, for that matter.

Alan's book would have been a tremendous benefit back then, and could have spared me a great deal of frustration and a number of false starts.

Haven't been feeling the best of late, so I haven't had the energy to comment in the last couple of days. My apologies to all. However, I did get a chance to listen to Tim's excellent reading of the DNotes Story, and was as inspired as I was when I first read it. It is indeed an excellent account of how we got to where we are, and the vision and mission that drives DNotes forward. As we look about the digital currency landscape, there can be little doubt that DNotes continues to be second-to-none in its commitment to achieving mass adoption and providing tangible benefits and opportunity for people everywhere.

Thanks, Ken. Hope you feel better soon. I was also inspired by Tim's reading of the DNotes Story. Tim is now working on doing the whole book and make it widely accessible for a small amount of DNotes using DNotes Pay. I trust that many will find the audio book helpful and inspiring. That will be another tool to help DNotes gain mass acceptance as an inclusive trusted digital currency.

Indeed, it may be a fairly slow process to get the entire book done, but get it done I shall Smiley Apparently it is quite common for people to listen to audiobooks these days by preference over actually reading, since it allows them to do other productive things at the same time.

It is common for me, at least. And also helpful on the road, when I take those six or seven hour drives with the family and they're all listening to their own music or watching movies on their iPads. I like to pop an audiobook in to keep me company and make sure that I don't drift off to sleep. I have  read Improve Your Odds: The Four Pillars of Business Success several times now, and am excited to know that I will be able to continue to benefit from Alan's insight and wisdom during those sometimes-lonely drives.

That's top work getting into that publication twice in one week. I'm always happy to see our media presence and exposure growing.

It is only a matter of time until more publications learn about DNotes and decide that they too want to write about our innovative solutions from removing middlemen in decentralized payment processing and goods distribution through to creating the first cryptocurrency that is truly suitable for mass adoption, reliably acting as a medium of exchange, store of value, and unit of account -- not to mention all the other challenges we are tackling like building an exchange worthy of everyday consumers, which to this day even the best exchanges and fiat gateways are only deserving of a 'passing' grade, with the vast majority leaving much to be worked on. Anything that DNotes is involved with will be operated with an integrity not known to most people involved in the cryptocurrency industry.

As we push ahead with our first funding round  in our Reg D 506(c) for our first tranche of up to five million US dollars, we will become less and less reliant on third parties to engage with the DNotes ecosystem, and more and more able to take care of all consumer needs in house. This funding means that DNotes will be able to take our plans to full fruition, and enable us to enforce quality standards of the highest level. We have our own way of doing things, and the DNotes team with appropriate funding behind it is a force to be reckoned with.

The exposure is fantastic - and Alan is always a brilliant spokesperson for DNotes and the industry. While others talk about digital currency's vague promises of technological innovation, he always brings it home to what really matters: how digital currency can positively impact real people's lives. How it can open up new opportunities, new access to financial services, and new options for everyone to enjoy greater control over their own financial destiny. I can think of few other crypto advocates who do a better job making those connections between the technology and people's needs. As that message gains more exposure and DNotes Global continues to bring real solutions to market, the world will have an opportunity to truly understand how the digital currency revolution can change all our lives for the better.
