Evan Duffield, I want to point out some flaws in the user flows of Darkcoin RC5 client. Please note that I work with user interfaces on a daily basis.
Current: 1) User can enable or disable anonimization, disabled by default. 2) If enabled, every time you start the client, it starts anomimizing any non-anonimized funds automatically.
Issues with Current: 1) It takes some effort to figure out how to enable anonimzation (Darksend). It's quite hidden. 2) When enabled, the client simply starts anonimizing all your funds automatically, without user request. To me, as a user, this feels very intrusive. What if I started the client to quickly check my funds, not to have my funds anonimized. The task is to start the client, not to start the client and anonimize funds at the same time. This is a very poor user experience. Usually in user flow design, flows are split per task type. In Darkcoin, tasks that are totally different are merged as one. Things even become worse if my wallet has a password: I get the password prompt shortly after enabling the client. My first reaction is, why the hell does the password prompt show, I didn't do anything? It looks like a bug. At the very least, the password prompt should explain why it is showing automatically.
Proposed: The anonimization process absolutely needs to be user initiated, it should never happen automatically (although there could be advanced options for that). I'd like to compare the Darkcoin client to virus scanning software, since I feel that both software types share similarities in terms of task architecture.
Does virus scanning software start scanning your computer once you start the virus scanner? No, it doesn't. Why not? Because that would be intrusive. The user requests to start the program, not to perform any type of action in addition. Instead, virus scanning software simply has a big green 'Quick Scan' button in their home screen. The Darkcoin client should have the equivalent of this: A big green 'Anonimize Funds' button (do not call it "Darksend" please as this name is misleading). Clicking it would start the anonimizing process. If your wallet has a password, then you would see a prompt at this stage to enter your password. 'Anonimize Funds' button would be disabled if all your funds have already been anonimized.
Evan Duffield, can I get your opinion on this? I feel this would be a considerable improvement to RC5 as current implementation is very likely to scare off new users since the anonimization user flow is far from optimal at the moment..
you have some good points there but i'm not totally sure these kind of changes you request wouldnt fall under the Enhanced Darkcoin Wallet UI project of DRKLord ( https://darkcointalk.org/threads/enhanced-darkcoin-wallet-ui.1705/page-14). Unfortunetely DRKlord got very ill and this project got postponed. They are now looking for a Qt/C++ frontend developer/GUI designer to get the project going again --> http://www.reddit.com/r/DRKCoin/comments/2fp0ey/qtc_frontend_developergui_designer/ If we can find a good Qt/C++ frontend developer/GUI designer to continue with this project then maybe yr concerns / requests will be resolved automatically. edit 1: and yes, i'm also taking this opportunity by replying to yr post to emphasize and inform everyone that there is still a need for a good Qt/C++ frontend developer/GUI designer edit 2 : never mind... looks like Evan can do a lot more with the GUI aspect of wallets then i first thought

Can somebody please post a screenshot of RC5 'Overview' tab?
I want to propose a big improvement to the current behavior that fixes a big flaw in the current user interface, but I require a screenshot of this tab in RC5 wallet to be able to do this. I'm not sure how to run RC5 test wallet myself since the link to it is not a .exe file.
flare post executables as well .. go test RC5 .. i dare you hell .. i dare you all !! https://darkcointalk.org/threads/sticky-testnet-tools-resources.1768/

DRK now being hoovered.
Within a ballhair of re-acquiring the number 7 position from doguelontium on market cap at which point eyebrows will be raised amongst the "wait a minute, I thought this coin was dead" brigade who return to the thread and have their tiny minds blown that their former flogged and left-for-dead asset has blossomed into a multi-dimensional business plan and hardened anon with near on 1000 masternodes lined up for service.
"Better get some just to be safe" sentiment then turns to blind panic when they discover that the 1-day DRK-BTC MACD crossed to the upside at the end of August and that price isn't the same thing as liquidity.
Lower order charts are then checked for suitable entry points but despair sets in when all known convergeance-divergeance mumbo jumbo appears pointing skyward.
Should've bought @ 33.
and he is backkkkkk .. god i missed your posts

What is the roadmap for Darkcoin after Darksend+ is perfected and open sourced?
As was stated by Darkcoin's lead developer eduffield today:
Darkcoin will focus on providing a host of anonymity services using the Darksend implementation. This would mean my next project would be to rewrite electrum to use the masternodes to anonymize funds, then an android wallet that can use Darksend, then iPhone, etc. The foundation would also be tasked with trying to get businesses to accept Darkcoin and expand the user base. It means that ALL users will have an out-of-the-box nearly perfect anonymous payment solution, which could be a big deal in the near term future.
looks like the market finds it a big deal already

****** THIS IS FOR TESTING RC5 ON TESTNET ONLY !! NOT FOR MAINNET !! ******** https://darkcointalk.org/threads/rc5-testing.2245/****** PLEASE UPDATE TO 9.13.0 OR 10.13.0 ******* Hello everyone! Development has been going great and the last few things must be done on testnet. RC5 includes these items so far: - Darksend queue improvements : Matching should be much faster and more accurate - Progress indication on creating a new wallet, shows up on the splash screen - CLI help has been updated to show new commands - Masternode payments reverted back to RC3 version (I'll do enforcement later after opensourcing) - Collateral turned back on - Darksend simple configuration screen on startup - Darksend transaction filters - When sending to yourself, n/a appeared instead of the address - Large wallets wouldn't begin darksending - New overview for Darksend info Note: Let me know if you get a collateral payment. Please send me the debug.log and wallet.dat if you do to evan@darkcoin.io RC5 Binaries ( masternodes ) http://www.darkcoin.io/downloads/rc5/darkcoin-qthttp://www.darkcoin.io/downloads/rc5/darkcoind Mpos + Stratum: http://ec2-54-91-161-78.compute-1.amazonaws.com/index.php -- connection string: sgminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://54.91.161.78:3333 -u eduffield.1 -p x Nomp : http://54.183.73.24/ How can you help? 1.) Point some hashing power at once of the pools! 2.) Run the "masternode-rc5" branch on testnet: https://github.com/darkcoinproject/darkcoin/tree/master-rc5 3.) Run a masternode 4.) Anonymize some money (faucet : https://drkipn.com/test/faucet/) Thanks everyone, The Darkcoin Team PS: Can people send money to the faucet? mmfb6hxTdLT3gQGAEDr2g6Qug8ew2MwKoJ eduffield, 8 minutes ago

Whats up with the volume, is the coin dying? Halcyon has got more volume these days. Ok, I think I've got an explanation. But mind that I'm not an Economist, so It's the layman's understanding. I guess you are referring to DRK volume in exchanges. I didn't even bother to go there check your allegation, but I can quite understand this hypothetical situation when I think about my behaviour towards Darkcoin: What I mean is that I am one to be blamed for the lack of DRK volume in exchanges. This is so just because ALL the darkcoins I have managed to buy or mine are safe in my wallets/MasterNode, and I have got no intention to send them to any exchange (obviously because I have got no intention to sell any of it). But I am not the worst devil for causing this lack ov DRK volume in exchanges, because I do try to stimulate some more volume there, by regularly sending all the BTCs I can manage to get, in order to try to BUY more and more DRK... But, unfortunatelly, it seems that most of the Darkcoin holders nowadays are not willing to sell me enough of their DRKs (so I guess that they are also contributing to make this low volume you talk about). TLDR:If the volume is low IN EXCHANGES is because the Darkcoin holders love their DRKs so much that they don't want to exchange it at all... I hope I was of any help. he is purposely using a 1min time frame, that doesn't show the rise, or the volume. yep .. always check on the 4 hr interval for a more clear picture

Since "Tor" is the German word for "Gate" (and other similar things; Door, Gateway, Portal, etc., depending on context), I propose: "DarkGate". It's an anonymous gateway to the internet.
Darkcoin Dark Gravity Wave Darksend Darkgate or : Darkcoin Dark Gravity Wave Darksend DarkGate first one (Darkgate) looks more in line with the rest...

Another security question. If you use cold wallet for your masternode, is there any danger when someone compromises your server? Even if they manage to break the authentication they still have no access to the local wallet with 1,000 drk and can only seize wallet.dat on the server, which is usually empty, right? PS I still have a decent pw, disabled root etc. but would like to know what is the worst thing that can happen Correct, if your server is compromised the worst that can happen is that they shut down the daemon and/or use the server for their own purposes, which you can put a stop to by contacting your VPS provider or shutting it down and re-imaging it with a different IP and security credentials from your dashboard. Hopefully you have monitoring in place to alert you that something is amiss, and can act quickly. The likelihood of your server getting hacked if you have nothing but darkcoind running, all ports except 9999 and ssh closed, and a strong password or ssh key is very, very low, and if it happens it will be almost certainly down to sloppy practices in your password/key management locally, so make sure your local box is locked down too. Ok this is what I needed to hear as well. I guess its time I put up a masternode. Anyone have a link to the best up-to-date masternode creation guide? https://darkcointalk.org/threads/drk-guide-rc3-masternode-windows-local-linux-remote-vultr.1367/(i assume this goes for RC4 as well)
