701  Other / Meta / Re: Help with username on: August 22, 2017, 04:17:46 AM
Hi I was wondering if there was a way i could change my username and email on my profile or do I have to set up a whole new acct?

yes there's a way that you could change your email. on your profile find the Account Related Settings at the middle left of your browser, and about your username, you must to be a donator and contact theymos for that request to be granted. not 100% sure for that but, there's no more other way than that.

but why? since you are a newbie, there's no big deal to you to make/set up a new account with a username you preferred.
702  Other / Meta / Re: 2FA to Active on Bitcointalk Forum (Requested to Admin) on: August 22, 2017, 03:38:05 AM
Question about F2A. What happens if I lose my phone. I couldn't get back into exchange because the F2A was from a different phone. Does the Goolge one get link with my email.

Can a 3rd party entity find out my email from my F2A?
As far as I know, if the phone you use for 2FA is lost you can still gain access to your account with certain requirements to prove if the account is yours. Because on an exchange that uses 2FA as well as I know it is just that and for proof it is something very difficult.

prof that if that account is yours, are totally difficult to prove. because if all of your works are only stored/access in one gadgets like a phone, all back-up and data are lost too, how could you recognize all of them when you create a proof that retrieving account is yours? its very difficult how to solve this problem. and i think there's no need to implement that 2FA here at our forum.
703  Other / Meta / Re: Process for changing username? on: August 22, 2017, 02:54:44 AM
So lets say I have a brand new account that has a name I like. Is it possible to change my name to that account? Alternatively, would it be easier for me to just request a name change?

Or do I need to be a Donator to change my name?

its difficult to say that it would be easy to change your username, the only right person you would ask is theymos no other than him.
and yes you need to be a donator to grand what you wishing for, because like minifrij said, without a Donator tag there is not a 100% chance that it will be granted. so you have to be a donator first before to request to change your username at first place.
704  Other / Meta / Re: Old accounts: how to get one ? on: August 22, 2017, 02:20:29 AM
Hello,

I just joined Bitcointalks (hi everybody :DD), and, I encountered a (somewhat) serious issue: I wanted to participate to te DeepOnion AirDrop (basically, a sort of pre-mined coin distribution of the DeepOnion cryoptocoin). However, in order to be elligible, one needs an account created before the July 12th 2017, and...

Since I just created my account today, I'm kinda fucked over.

However I don't want to pass on that;
is there a way to modify my account to make it, like, one month older ?
Maybe I could get the account from an inactive dude ?
I know it sounds like a silly question, but, appart from the trust system (that is kinda a fraud) and the signature premiums, it seems like there's not much advantage to have an old account / versus new ones (appart from that DeepOnion giveaway, ahah)
So, if someone has a spare old account to give away, man, that'd be dope !

(Wubalubadubdub!)

regarding if someone has a old account to give away, its not just easy. i mean nobody give an account just for free.
i recommend that you ask to buy a old account from those member who doesnt need it at a fair price. but take it on your own risk because we all know that buying an account is a risky move, unless you buy it on a trusted member. its up to you dude. made a right decision.
705  Economy / Economics / Re: Cashless society on: August 21, 2017, 10:18:09 AM
Would you want this to happen in the real world :
- sir we think that smoking is bad, so we made the system not able to pay for sigarettes anymore.
- sir we think that drinking soda is bad for your healt so we forbade paying for it.
- sir, we saw that you payed for a prostitute, why did you go there ?

Do you think this is the way the world should like. I for one, not.

cashless, meaning you dont have to bring a cash. instead of paying a paper bill you pay for bitcoin and nothing like free. you telling in your post that all thing are free when the cashless society comes. its not like that dude. Huh
706  Economy / Economics / Re: Cashless society on: August 21, 2017, 06:37:07 AM
An ideal cashless society is far from the reality, in India atleast. People have trouble getting good internet connections, many haven't used a computer in their lives too. When I try convincing some people to adopt BTC, they just shrug it off saying its just some HYIP/ponzi scheme. People have started using debit/credit cards/  netbanking to pay for stuff, but ideal cashless society is equipped with cryptocurrency, where the majority of the people of that society adopt cryptocurrencies, and that isn't happening anytime soon in India.

I don't think that those who support cashless society care whether its feasible or efficient. They esteem ideology over human concerns or standard of living.

Even in the united states many homeless or poor might be unable to buy or sell basic necessities like food if they were unable to afford a cell phone equipped with digital transaction/internet.

Many could starve or die if cashless society were adopted.

i think you might right, this cashless society has a risky idea on somehow but in other hand it is has a good benefits to the others, like , works makes easier and mostly jobs are relevant at that moment because of the instant feature. and maybe those people homeless or poor youve mentioned they gonna have their jobs if ever because the society had changed.
707  Economy / Economics / Re: Why have Bitcoin instead of cash? on: August 21, 2017, 05:13:02 AM
I recently paid for some local tacos using Bitcoin. My friend who was unfamilar with Bitcoin thought it was strange, like I technically didn't pay for them or something. We got into discussing Bitcoin and one of the questions he asked me was:
"Why would you want Bitcoins instead of cash?". For a second I didn't know what to say; then I thought about it and here is what I came up with. Feel free to contribute to this.

1) More security (especially if you are careful).

2) Bitcoins are a potential investment, cash is not. Paper currency only really goes down in value, Bitcoins have a lot of potential to be worth more as time goes on.

3) Fast, worldwide transactions at your fingertips.

4) Similar to #3, but it's a universal currency. It's legal in most countries of the world and you don't need any kind of currency conversion to send money to people in a different country than your own.

bitcoin is more secure than cash. and you only have a gadgets to do transaction with your bitcoin instead of carrying a big wallet that full of ID.
a lot of hard time transaction in cash, but somehow easily deal with bitcoin. some other point, bitcoin increasing its value day by day unlike the paper currency. and you dont have to worry if somebody hold-uping you because they will not get your money because you didnt carry any of paper currency. unless they know about bitcoin. Undecided
708  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is it too late to buy bitcoin? on: August 20, 2017, 11:28:17 AM
If you're only just getting started in bitcoin now then it's probably unlikely that you'll be able to buy loads of coins but you can always buy what you can afford to. The price is going up & up long term so it's defo possible possible to still get good profits.

You might have to buy a hold for a few years though.

in terms of buying a bitcoin at this time, for me its not advisable because like me a middle man in our country i cannot afford to buy bitcoin at this rate for now.i admit that its too late for me to buy a bitcoin.but instead of buying bitcoin you can just work to have a bitcoin, for those people who cant afford buying bitcoin , they can just work online just to have/earn/gain bitcoin and then hold it until you collect some of it and wait for the massive pump of bitcoin. you can ear too much profit from that.
709  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Crash?? on: August 20, 2017, 09:40:31 AM
I read in several Newspaper that experts think the Bitcoin is gonna crash soon. What do you think? Huh

i think that "experts" youve mentioned are those people hates/never been in this society (bitcoin). most of "experts" has a potential of 2% possibilities/chance that they prediction will happen. but not at all. more prediction from those "experts" are trash/wasting of time if you got an attention from them.

how can they prove that bitcoin gonna crash soon. as you can see the bitcoin is getting more successful until this day, more and more successful day by day, so how it gonna crash if it continuing success. as you can see more projects drives in bitcoin, more investors are driving in bitcoin so how they can tell it will happen? "experts youve mentioned are getting you in a wrong way.but its up to you if you decide to listen to them and packed up you things to get you out in the world of bitcoin.
710  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Backing up wallet on: August 20, 2017, 09:16:32 AM
Do you only need to backup the 12 letter seed words and the private key, or both the public & private key?

absolutely yes. back up them both because those key are very important to retrieve your wallet and it wont give you hard time in future to accessing it on the other gadgets. meanwhile after you backed up those key (12 word seed) and private key. save it in safeties place on your home and never DO share that information to the others, it has a possibilities that you got hacked in future if you that.
711  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: paper wallet on: August 20, 2017, 08:34:37 AM
What is a paper wallet compared to other forms of wallet?

paper wallet like they said it is a piece of paper with one or more private keys written on it. it also secure because you can have its own private key so you can have control on it. but more secure are whose hardware wallet nobody can steal your BTC in there, not like other wallets. web wallet that has no private key feature, has a chance that you lose your BTC on it, you cannot retrieve if you have an issue by losing BTC in there. i preferred a software wallet like electrum because for me this wallet is more secure, even you store a very huge amount on it. you have no worries about loosing BTC in it and it has a cold storage feature that you can safely store BTC for long time and has no change in it.
712  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Any Suggestions on Demo Trading Sites? on: August 18, 2017, 03:14:26 PM
To trade, you need to learn trading strategies, not sites. And it's better to trade where there is a lot of trading.

i see. so at that rank you have, you gained experience about trading. and you suggesting us (those new in terms of traiding) to find a trading site that has a lot of traders? that was a good advice and very thankful for that info. but how about that "you need to learn trading strategies" youve mentioned? can you give us an example to have us an idea what is your pointing about?
713  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Any Suggestions on Demo Trading Sites? on: August 18, 2017, 11:57:10 AM
Demo accounts are usually good to practice but not all trading sites makes provision for that but there is this site you can use www.hitbtc.com has a platform for demo but you will have to and create an accout then login in other to gain access to the site as well as the trading platform.

oh really? thanks for the information. i thought that it doesnt exist that demo platform. i will visit that site to to make practices on how it will be in trading.
714  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Any Suggestions on Demo Trading Sites? on: August 18, 2017, 10:02:42 AM
Hello,
I am interested in learning to trade and would like to ask the board for suggestions on a good demo trading site.
My hope would be to identify a site were I could learn for a few months and then move into actual capital.

Any suggestions would be great.
Thank you.

i think you should go to the official trading site and give a shot to try trading with a small capital. beacause your searching for a site that never exist. a demo trading site.i never heard that dude. but if you wont believe you can do your own search by google if you do so.

but for now i will suggest that find a trading site and start to trade with a small capital. its better to gain experience than to speculate it.
715  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do I grow my btc? on: August 18, 2017, 09:05:49 AM
Since your  question is about trading I think your thread is in the right place and this is were you can get right answer to your question. To increase your 0.5bitcoin to about 5 bitcoin you will need to invest in ico project especially the reliable one and before you invest in ico you should do a really and personal research before putting in your really cash or hard earned bitcoin. Some people that invest in neo and ripple sometimes ago has make over5* return for just a month of listed in some popular exchangers platforms.

this thread is post almost 2 years ago. so i there conclude that the OP has increase his own BTC not just 0.5 but most probably a lot from that. anyway your suggestion is really informative for those newbie who willing to find answers to their same question like this. but joining/invest in a ICO project is not too advisable even if they totally review the project. either you can give it a shot in this. give a try for a few moment with this but not for long term investment.

newbie has same question like this, you also add this other options like trading and lending. but perhaps you would have to be advisable with other expert or has an experience in this field.
716  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading altcoin and holding bitcoin which one is more profitable? on: August 18, 2017, 06:31:53 AM
I have come to realize in recent time that holding bitcoin in ones wallet is more profitable and a little bit risk free as compared to trading altcoin or what do you think ?

they are both profitable. if you have a enough bitcoin, you can try both of this options. you can split your bitcoin into two particular way. the half of your bitcoin is in your wallet holding it until it pump to the moon, and the other half is in altcoin to earn not much bitcoin but its better to have than to have none. you can both earn more profit from them. but its a quite risky in a way of trading but somehow your luck shows in it.
