Good lord. Two more pages of silly nannies going at it.

Queue the Benny Hill music... again.

Says the man who caused uproar and a slanging match on here yesterday that went to well over a page! And it was based on falsehood! Pot - Kettle - Black. Smiley

Are you just trying to up your post count or what?  At least on the last two pages people had reasons to post unlike your smarmy self.

Do us all a favour and piss off.

I'm going to swipe bobsag3's response and respond...

Depends on what you call "under performing."  My module would run for almost exactly 30 minutes at 70 Gh/s and then shut the machine down.  Period.  Had to power off and back on to get the Jupiter to come back up.  30 minutes later, dead again.  I isolated the problem to one particular module, even swapped it into another machine - 30 minutes later, machine dead.  Running the module by itself - 70-80 Gh/s, and machine dead after 31 minutes.  Tried every version of firmware - same result, module would run for 30 minutes about, then kill the machine it was in.  Every time.  Every version.  Every machine.

I couldn't seem to get the point across to customer service that the module would run for almost exactly 30 minutes, and then kill the machine it was running on.  I spent a week trying to explain the problem, then finally got fed up with it and "strongly requested an RMA" after playing "what happens if" games for a week and a day.  Returned the module, and it has disappeared - no acknowledgement of it arriving, no status, no return shipping info TWO WEEKS after the tracking number shows it was in their hands.

That is unfortunate,

I'm sure you've tried to reach out to them and they can't find it?

Send Bitcoinorama a PM and see if he might be able to look into it, also email sam directly as I'm positive he would want to remedy something like this asap as I imagine this isn't how they would like to do business.
703  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 06, 2013, 05:52:35 PM
RMA has always been, send it back and they send you a new one. This isn't a new concept. While I understand the frustration of potentially losing money while it is RMA'd that is the nature of the beast and their hands are tied.

BFSB did advance RMA for me, in exchange for a bitcoin deposit. Went flawless, for both. This isn't a big thing to do, but extraordinary well received by customers, especially in the time-critical ASIC-Business.

To cherish the idea of bitcoin and one of its main advantages, fast transfer of values, it would be an easy win for both KNC and their customers to establish a comfortable RMA process.

RMA request -> bitcoin deposit -> delivery of replacement item -> return of faulty item -> reception and verification -> release deposit.

win-win, easy-easy

Send KnC and email with this information, explain how their competitor is doing business and maybe they will change.

However a 25GH bitfury module is a little less risky than a 130GH KnC Module.
704  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 06, 2013, 05:50:24 PM
I have to second that.  It took me over a week of playing the game of "answering stupid questions one per day" before I finally managed to get an RMA-number.  Now that I've returned the defective module to them, I've heard nothing - zip - zero for another almost two weeks.

I should have had a replacement module in my hands the day after I reported it as being broken.  But no, it was "For today, try it under firmware version 96.1 and tell me what happens" - still doesn't work.  Next day "We'll be releasing firmware version .98 tomorrow, try it with than and see what happens" - still broken.  Next day "Try running it for 24 hours to see if the problem clears up" - still broken, and on and on, etc., etc, etc.

Wow,

Now we have actual timelines on the RMA process. Most people are complaining before they even send them in.

Thank you for including a time frame. Are there others out there that are having a similar wait time after sending in their unit?

It would be nice to collect actual data instead of conjecture and emotions.
705  Economy / Securities / Re: [Bitfunder]&[WeExchange] WARNING! The Fall of Ukyo! on: November 06, 2013, 05:47:13 PM
Answer me this, guys!!!

How wrong is it that Ukyo screws over all USA investors... by making them sell below market... THEN shuts down BF, and suggests transfer assets to issuers (which will probably relist elsewhere, higher?)

I can't believe it.

I'm trying to wrap my head around how he forced you to do this. Can you elaborate?
706  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 06, 2013, 05:42:20 PM
No, I expect when my customers and I spend 10k+ on a machine, regardless of the industry, to have support to go with it. Ive been in the IT industry my entire life, and not even HP's RMA process (one of the worst in the industry) is on the ultra-low level of KnC. Ive never seen a RMA processes handled so poorly in my life. No communication, no flexibility, nothing. I would NOT buy another product from this company, not when they are too busy talking about the next thing to fix their current product. Im surprised paypal has not nuked their account from Orbit.

I expect advanced RMA when dealing with something time sensitive, let alone expensive. My dell's have a 24 hour turn around time, IE I get replacement parts within 24 hours or I get some serious compensation. Especially since KNC only sells to "businesses". You think any real business would put up with this kind of crap from one of its suppliers?

Are you comparing a ~42 Billion Dollar company with a 10 Million Dollar company that just released it's first product?

Are you comparing a computer manufacturer who has hundreds of thousands of extra parts laying around to RMA with vs a company who might have a couple hundred?

Again you are comparing a Dell which has a fixed cost that doesn't fluctuate in the 24 hours that you RMA it, that doesn't have any sort of "Pre-Order" line that can be gamed tarnishing the image of the company.

I understand that you don't want to lose money while it is being RMA'd and they should as a company send some sort of compensation per Board that is sent back in based on current difficulty. This will be the only part that I agree with.

Is one of your boards completely dead or is it under performing?
707  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 06, 2013, 05:33:12 PM
The plain truth for most people is that without the current rise in the price of bitcoins we'd be crying. KNC will be doing well off that too, both from orders paid in BTC and from their own mining. They can't seem to lose...even fucking shipping made them a profit ffs.

What is your problem man, they are the fucking company selling the shovels.

Why would you want them to lose, why would you assume they would lose after delivery, what do you not understand about this situation.

All ASIC Vendors that have a product to actually sell (And some that don't) Will Win regardless if miners do or not.

are you are suggesting KnC shouldn't get a profit even though they delivered around 70% of the BTC Hashrate?
708  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 06, 2013, 05:03:12 PM
If KnC has 70% of the hashrate, then they were very irrisponsible in how much hashrate they brought online.  This trend will continue.

With the network roughly 4 TH/s, 70% would be 2.8 TH/s, or roughly 5000 Jupiters. But they shipped a lot of units slower than Jupiters. So lets say roughly 10,000 units shipped. Is that in line with their shipping announcements?

4PH*

2.8PH*

That is quite a bit of Hashrate but understand they though each unit Jupiter would originally only do 350GH or 87.5GH/Chip

Let's assume they had 20,000 Chips - 1.75PH

https://www.kncminer.com/news/news-63

Quote
The computing performance of Jupiter is 3600% higher than the closest commercial competitor.

WTF?

I'm assuming they are talking about Chips

I believe BFL has the next "Most GH Per Chip" (Regardless of power consumption

https://products.butterflylabs.com/65nm-asic-bitcoin-mining-chip.html
BFL Chip - 4GH

550 / 4 = 137.5
KnC Chip - 137.5 GH

3437.5% increase

* I think that the only reason, why AM lost 10%+ of the network(which caused lower divs and then share price) is massive failure in Gen2 chip design which hit the whole mining industry, not just ASICminer (look at Cointerra, HashFast, BTCGARDEN, BFL and LabCoin)

Are you suggesting that there's a relation between these failures?

Could be, why not. We don't have official news, so it's worth thinking about. I think some of them are cooperating behind the curtains. Especially those in China. It may not be wrong at all. Friedcat said "We met with two other groups making 65/55nm in China interested in collaboration", also from BTCGARDEN FAQ site "We also had some contacts with them(AM) through either IM tools or in person". ...

BTCGARDEN fail : " our ASIC miner hardware is suffering a very big BUG,here it is"
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=321928.msg3448394#msg3448394

In the same time AM Gen2 fail

& In the same time Cointerra *fired their whole R&D team
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=267552.msg3495875#msg3495875

I don't follow HashFast but i read somewhere that they have some 2months delays or what ... and no comment about Labcoin, i think they are also from China.

Seems like Bitfury is eating everybody's lunch at this point in time. No doubt it will be an interesting race to follow.

So KNC would not accept even Bitcoins as a security in order to send working boards first as to minimize downtime for customers.
From where I am standing it looks like they are trying hard to work against their customers by refusing to come up with a RMA solution that works for both sides.
I can not think of a single reason why they would not accept BTC as a security in order to send working boards first, apart from trying to discourage people from using the RMA service.

This has to do with people trying to "Game" the system.

Maybe they don't want to be liable with your BTC or want to deal with customers saying they never got the BTC back (Lieing to game the system)

RMA has always been, send it back and they send you a new one. This isn't a new concept. While I understand the frustration of potentially losing money while it is RMA'd that is the nature of the beast and their hands are tied.

That's fucking stupid.  Most tech companies have an advanced RMA process to charge a CC temporarily.
Yeah bar, your wrong here. KnC is the first tech company I have dealt with in a while that DOESNT offer an advanced RMA

Never have experienced this. My apologies.

However you believe that when providing "Money Printing Machines" there should be advanced RMA? Sorry blame human nature.
711  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 06, 2013, 04:13:15 PM
Bar, there is a saying that perfectly fits the situation: "If you want to do something, you’ll find a way. If you don’t, you’ll find an excuse."
They found an excuse, I found a way  Wink

Did they give you alternatives? Again your way might not have been viable.

You are close enough to them the RMA shouldn't take but a day or two max just send it in!

how do i transfer my shares out of bitfunder? i just seen the deadline is tomorrow.

Announcement

Due to Bitfunder closing down, we are extending the deadline to transfer shares to AMC-TENDER until November 13th, 2013.

At this time all shareholders should follow the procedure for transferring shares to AMC-TENDER.

Dividends which are due to be paid tomorrow will be suspended until we have the share problem solved.

We will be creating Pass-Through shares on a yet undetermined exchange for our shareholders.

After the Pass-Through is created, we will pay the suspended dividends.

Active Mining Corporation (Belize)

Step-By-Step Guide to Tendering Shares to ActiveMining

So I figured I'd do this for those who have absolutely no idea.  I realize that most of us DO know what we're doing, but there's no point in having people left behind because they're too afraid to ask.

I use bitcoin-qt for my Bitcoin dealings. I don't have much trust in the online wallets at this point, so I'll provide steps based on what I know.  If you would prefer to use another wallet, do your research and don't be afraid to ask questions to determine if it is right for you.  For example, make sure you can sign messages from whatever client you intend to use.

Part 1.  Bitcoin-qt

1. Google for and install the official bitcoin-qt client on your computer.  In fact, just to save you some time, go here: http://bitcoin.org/en/download

2. Once the software is installed, run it.  It will create a local wallet.dat file for you among other things.  This wallet.dat file is what stores your bitcoin addresses, balances, etc.  Never lose this file.  This is important.  You lose the file you lose your Scrooge McDuck riches.  Simple as that.  Also note that the client will start to download the entire blockchain.  It weighs in at 10+ gigs right now. If you have a terribly sucky low-bandwidth cap service from your ISP, just bear in mind that this could up your numbers.

3. First and foremost. SECURE YOUR WALLET!  Here's how...

     - Under the "Settings" menu item, click "Encrypt Wallet"

     - Enter a passphrase.  This is possibly the most important password you'll ever enter. Please ensure it's STRONG.  10+ characters, random letters numbers and symbols. add caps.  For example:  "yT658!{93%$#uyhgjKIyshI"  ... Write this down somewhere and keep it safe!

4. Go to the "Receive" tab.

5. Click on "New Address" at the bottom-left

6. Enter an appropriate name for this address so you know what it represents.  When you click Ok, a new address will be generated for this account.

7. You should now see the account you created with it's address in the grid. Congrats.

Part 2.  BitFunder

1. Log in to BitFunder.com

2. Go to "Settings" in the upper-right hand corner.

3. Under "Public Bitcoin Address" on the right side, copy and paste the newly created address from bitcoin-qt into the new address field.  Double-check to ensure you're copying the right address!

4. After saving the public address, click on the "Transfer" menu item on the left-hand menu.

5. Enter the appropriate information on the transfer screen. make sure to enter ALL shares you own of ActiveMining into the "Share Amount" field.  no use in keeping any of them around BitFunder now.  Oh, I already tendered mine, so sorry for the sloppy paint job. Worth a chuckle at least, right? Wink

NOTE: make sure you get the user name correct!  It's "AMC-TENDER". No spaces!

6. Once you click the "Transfer!" button, that's it that's all.  make sure you get your info right before you click.  If your palms are sweating, good!

7. Click on the "Transactions" menu item. You'll see the latest transaction history menu item reads "Send Transfer To: AMC-TENDER" along with the number of shares you transfered.  TAKE A SCREENSHOT OF THIS PAGE AND SAVE IT!  The entire browser window.  ALL of it. Include the blue bar at the top too with your username.  This will be helpful in case there are complications in the future.

Well that's it.  Message signing was already covered, and we don't really have official word on what to do yet from Ken, so just complete this guide and hang tight for more info when it's time.

Hopefully this helped a few of you anyway.  If I missed something, let me know.

Timmers, hell hath no fury like a woman miner scorned.

70% of BTC currently produced is the same thing as 70% of the hashrate. If you want to get into variance semantics then you will just lose over time Smiley
715  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: November 06, 2013, 02:50:37 PM
Well, I guess IceDrill didn't get his answer, or he didn't post it.

I retain a positive outlook, but I'm adding my voice now to those saying that HashFast needs to step up to the plate with improved and more detailed communication.

HF doesn't have to publicly engage every itchy customer with 500 repetitive and pedantic questions and demands, but statements clarifying the state of affairs and the company's plans are in order.

It's important that these statements be specific and unambiguous.  They should not be laden with squishy qualifications or conditions that cast doubt on the meaning of what's being said.

Crisis Communication 101.  They teach crisis communicators some underhanded tactics, but some good stuff too. The cardinal rule of crisis communication is to get out in front with the facts.  Not getting out in front with the facts leads to rumors, conspiracy theories, anxiety and a disgruntled public... sound familiar?

In their defence,

Sometimes giving the public actual information just leads to more or a greater ferocity of "rumors, conspiracy theories, anxiety and a disgruntled public".

They might be following the Golden Rule?

716  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] The Official Active Mining Discussion Thread [Self-Moderated] on: November 06, 2013, 02:41:58 PM
Someone is buying shares of ActM on the OTC?

I will sell you shares for .00699300699 per share.

Since an alternative exchange is not up yet, if you buy shares from me, I will prepare a written contract which will state that I own those shares which I control and will provide you with evidence that I actually have those shares of Active Mining.

The shares will be sold only in lots of 1000 (6.99300699 bitcoin  per thousand) All contracts will be "signed"  by having us each sign a message stating the terms of the sale.

When a viable exchange finally is created, I will transfer the shares to you. Also, as further protection, we can make the sale public with a posting on a separate thread here so that there is proof that the sale has been made. We can do this using our real names or using just our bitcoin addresses, whichever is your preference.

The price I offer in this posting is good only until November 30. There is no bargaining nor negotiation. There is only 6.99300699 bitcoin per lot of 1000 shares.

Please contact me via PM.

Bitcoin prices are going up, more slowly than they did 8 months ago. Ken probably will have hardware to sell, and to mine with, albeit, not as soon as we all want. Ken will have an exchange up and running at some point in the future. Once AMC/VMC has a viable exchange and a product to ship, you all know ActM stock will go higher than .01. Think of my offer as a clear opportunity for you against the future.

It is expected that FUDsters will post nasty comments. As they used to say in the streets of Times Square in the 1970s, money talks, bullshit walks.
Stupid comments will be ignored. Anyone with a real offer will be given consideration.

Keep us informed if there are buyers at that price.

I'm surprised you don't want to stay with us and see how this turns out... if it does!
717  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: November 06, 2013, 02:37:47 PM
Things played out exactly how I said they would.
Said the guy who invested in labcoin and activemining.
Please, just fade away.
+1
I remember how he was telling us how he was going to make a ton on LC then buy ActM and make a ton there, and then buy AM around the end of the year.

I guess LC being a scam, didn't work out too well, he should have listened to everyone warning him, instead of calling them a troll.

Actually he kept trying to flip ActM for more LC shares and then flip back. Too bad he flipped his ActM right when LC was found out to be a scam. We haven't heard much from him since.

It's nice to see you again Masbark, thought you might have left us for good.
718  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast launches sales of the Baby Jet on: November 06, 2013, 02:12:04 PM
Probably the KNC design is the only sense that would make sense to have at 14 or 20nm.
It's cheap for them.
It's just an fpga conversion, right?

I would be surprised if they didn't do a full custom at this size.

They saved a lot of money/time by not doing a full custom on the 28nm node allowing them to push the money saved/made from being first to produce to the lower node and maintaining their competitive edge as well as being the first on that node as well.

Also to correct you, their last 28nm is standard cell which is one step up from a straight forward FPGA conversion (like eASIC)

I agree with Puppet that the NRE will be very difficult to gather back as the price of ASICs become less and less expensive, however KnC might be in the only position to actually pull this off since they got a slight head start. If they do produce this first, I imagine that any other Bitcoin ASIC Manufacturer would literally be stuck with their 28nm node as the NRE could never be paid for at that point.

Then again, could just be a marketing ploy that other vendors have used to trick customers into thinking the company they chose will stay competitive.

Will;

I thought you were going to update on shipping today?   The day is mostly over even on the west coast.

I'd be content with a refund/buy-back of BTC 0.0015 per share.   Grin

You were content with your miners before, why the sudden change? ...lol
