701  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ‘watered-down bitcoin’ for institutional investors on: April 08, 2014, 09:12:51 PM
And Mark Andressen said Bitcoin would be hated by its early adopters, eventually.

Stuff like this has to happen for the ignorant masses to feel comfortable.

It doesn't change what Bitcoin is.  And despite how we feel about it, its going to play a *major* role in increasing the value of your coins.

And I'd like to think that long term that pure Bitcoin will still be readily accessible.

Maybe not in the USA, but elsewhere.

702  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are Americans Really So Ignorant and Repressive? (Want to Ban Bitcoin) on: April 08, 2014, 09:11:21 PM
Are Americans ignorant?

I'd say we top the charts.

703  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Solution To The IRS Bitcoin Compliance Problem… on: April 08, 2014, 09:07:20 PM
Whatever your political opinion is on the matter, Bitcoin probably will always have an element to it that is "off the records".

But what is stopping the Government from instituting policies that make that difficult/impossible ?

Didn't they recently eliminate all the offshore havens?

704  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC will have no more "to the moon" rises. Face it, BTC is becomming BANKING on: April 08, 2014, 05:22:27 PM
BTC "becoming banking" is precisely why Bitcoin is going to the moon.

I realize it annoys/scares some of us that big banks may assimilate BTC into their operations.  Bothers me too.

But doing so will only increase its value.

705  Economy / Speculation / Re: US economy expected to crash, time to buy bitcoin on: April 08, 2014, 05:21:03 PM
Seems like those predicting the collapse of anything, are pretty much always wrong.

As I recall, Obama was supposed to "destroy america" in his first term.  When he didn't he surely was "free to destroy america" in his second term because of structural changes in govt.

He didn't.

I told everyone before he got elected that we'd be alive and well after both terms.

Life goes on.  People are crazy.

706  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you know someone that at some point told you bitcoin is a Ponzi send him this on: April 08, 2014, 05:16:10 PM
Something about her voice / speaking style (not accent) makes it difficult for me to listen to and digest this.

707  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 47% of Americans want to make purchasing goods and services w/ Bitcoins illegal on: April 08, 2014, 02:52:34 PM
53% of Americans want to make purchasing goods and services w/ Bitcoins legal

This.

What do you think that number would have been 1 year ago?

Major improvements.   To the moon!

708  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This day a year ago on: April 08, 2014, 01:40:11 AM
Its funny how many people talk total nonsense right out of their asses (see original post quotes).  And still do the exact same thing today.

With different numbers attached.

Buy and hold was the *only* smart move then, and the *only* smart move now.

Quote me on that in 1 year.   And 2 years.  And 5 years.

709  Economy / Speculation / Re: I think most of you underestimate just how important china was on: April 07, 2014, 10:59:56 PM
I've noticed that some "Traders" seem grossly underinformed sometimes.   Like y3804 above - completely unaware of whats going on out there.

No wonder they're scared.   Their entire source of emotional security revolves around charts, and the news article of the week.   Not tangibles or details.

710  Economy / Speculation / Re: I think most of you underestimate just how important china was on: April 07, 2014, 10:53:58 PM
What innovation?  You're kidding right.

Quote
Automatic conversion to fiat = Bad for short-term
The only thing short term is your foresight.  Adoption in early stages by major players equals future adoption on a grand scale.  Obviously.

Quote
Government acknowledgement = Not going to happen at this price
That wasn't a hypothetical.  Im referring to the acknowledgement they've already given it countless times.   You seem to be unaware of the basic news surrounding bitcoin.  Bernenke calling it a promising new technology.   Yellen saying it shouldn't be regulated.  I could go on, but I feel like Im talking to someone who has zero information.

Quote
Awareness doesn't create demand
LOL!!!   Wow.

Quote
Regulation = Bad
Tell that to everyone who got Goxxed.  Regulation of third party services = Good = adoption = security = widespread adoption.  Again:  Obviously.

Innovation?  What innovation?
I highly recommend you download PodCruncher podcast app to your phone and subscribe to Lets Talk Bitcoin podcast.
Make yourself aware of whats happening out in the world right now pertaining to Bitcoin.
That last post wasnt trying too hard.  I barely hit the tip of the iceberg.

711  Economy / Speculation / Re: I think most of you underestimate just how important china was on: April 07, 2014, 10:40:20 PM

Now that China is out of the game, how does anyone expect the prices to stay in the $400's.

Adoption.  Growth.  Commerce.  Investment.  ETF applications.  Widespread awareness.  Government acknowledgement.  International conferences.  Podcasts.  Prime time television mentions.  IRS acknowledgement.  Innovation.  Startups.  Venture Capital.  Spaceship rides.  Overstock.  Tigerdirect.  Square.  Shopify.  Falcon Global Capital.  Second Market.  Pantera.  Airline tickets.  Ethereum.  NXT.  Lamborghinis.  Mastercoin Foundation.  Mark Andressen.   Chicago Sun-Times.  St Louis Fed.  Dorian Satoshi Knock-a-no-mo.  Bitcorn.

If you haven't noticed a difference in the landscape since pre-China then something is wrong.

713  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Biggest issue needed to be resolved on: April 05, 2014, 11:38:47 PM
Centralization and Scalability issues I'd say.
+1

Centralization of mining.

+100
714  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will have no more big "to the moon" rises anymore. Face reality on: April 05, 2014, 04:03:22 PM
Phew.   So many misunderstandings in your post.

You don't seem to acknowledge the concept of "network effect".   The single most important element in why BTC will succeed.

You don't seem aware of the adoption rates, infrastructure developments, and innovation.   The other relevant factor.

You don't seem aware of the "hundreds of millions" being poured into BTC in 2014 via VC firms, and Wall Street.

The official trading platforms, ETF applications, and the fact that IRS rulings are always a little "off" when they first come out, and are modified by the IRS themselves, routinely as time goes on.

Honestly I feel like this is so obvious, im not sure why I'm typing it.

I realize you lost your money, but don't translate that into pooping on the parade.

715  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple vs Bitcoin on: April 05, 2014, 03:59:01 PM
Here - let me put it this way.

If you're an investor and want to get involved in the 2nd most probable "coin" system (misnomer for Ripple, i know) then you can currently drop $5,000 and purchase 500,000 ripple (XRP).

Now wouldn't it be nice if ripple went from $0.01 to .... say .... $1.00 ?

There have been estimates that if the network gets going, and does what its made to do, it would be realistically valued at $5.00 one day.

Just sayin.  500,000 x $5.00 = $2,500,000.

And it doesn't even compete with Bitcoin, so there is no conflict of interest.

Why not take a shot?  I did.

If you want us to outweigh the effects of the media then we need to be writing articles in the same publications.

Perianne did just that with this outstanding piece this week, on Forbes:
