To know when to stop from holding you need discipline. You must establish your own thresholds and when price reached them just sell no matter what.
Everyone has in his mind a selling price, but most people don't do the right thing when selling oportunities are there and lose momentum.

How can you say bulls are here just because price recovered a bit whithin lst 1-2 days, when we were bearish for almost an entire year? Lol
Bulls need to be visible on the market for a much longer time to change the trend, otherwise we're still bearish.

You need to hold at least when price is down, to sell when price recovers. Huge price drop was expected from anyone with at least some trading experience and common sense.
The thing is bitcoin gained it's "bad" rates because of bunch of gurus trying to make some bucks on their lessons and ebooks and then you had a mainstream news of course. Popular example of mainstream news manipulations is when xrp was at like $3-$4 they were "teaching" people when and how to buy on tv but when it dropped then they were "teaching" how to sell lol and all that was all purposely. You could here and there about price drop incoming but no one wanted to listen, they all believed in 100x gains in a year fairy tales. So market is a little bit more free from those dumb fucks now and mostly that is a reason why we are in current situation.

I heard that btc is gonna die for a lot of time, but I just ignore these non sense affirmations. I started gaining more when i started caring less about btc's price. I just accumulate more and more, not looking at the price but at the total sum of them.
And if i would care about some current profits, yes i would buy now but i believe there are some chances to drop again for some another $500-1k which is nothing to worry about

Bitcoin will only die when Internet will die. As long as Internet will exist, Bitcoin will not go anywhere 😊
The real era of Bitcoin did not even start yet, it will start within the next few years when cryto adoption rate will increase significantly and some more regulations will take place.
If you came into cryto to make quick money then yes, you have a lot of reasons to be worried, as in 2018 you cannot get rich overnight.
If you are here for long-term (3-5 years) then just forget about your holdings for some time, stop verifying the price every single day and within a few years cryto will prove more about its value.
For now ETH is still the king of altcoins, but it is still an altcoin and it will never replace Btc. As an altcoin, it loses a lot of its value when facing long bearish periods, this is why in 2018 it reached lower lows.
When market will recover Eth might have one of the highest price recoveries as its potential is still huge.

We cannot talk about bull run for what happened in one single day. In order to be inside a bull run there must be at least several days or even weeks to confirm that narket trend reversed.
However, it was nice to see price recoveries of even nore than 10% after long dips.
Cryto is not about getting rich overnight. It is more about research, patience and wise decisions. During long bearish periods it's quite hard to make some decent profits, but that's only a trend that will over at some time.
That's a great opportunity to look for good projects and invest by buying cheap.
Bullrun as bearish periods are part of cryto market, they are cyclical and perfectly normal for any market.
If you trust in Blockchain technology and projects you invested, just hold your coins and wait for the next bullish trend before you sell. Panic sell is one of the worst decisions you can take in cryto.

I agree with you, mate, just keep in bitcoin only amounts you can afford to risk/lose. Never exchange in another currency, all alternatives cryptocurrency prices gravitate on bitcoin price. Fact that bitcoin was once 20k+ means there are chances to be again at that price or maybe 5 times more like some experts claims. No matter how low the price goes keep them untill you get a profit if the price goes up. The same thing happened when the price exploded 2 years ago... the price was getting lower and lower and lower day by day people got scared they start to sell all they have and then the real criminals got rich overnight with the bubble.

King will remain unchanged for the near-medium future: btc. Usually when btc goes down the value of most of the time other coins follows, because the majority of the exchange pairs are with btc. It is unlikely to profit with altcoins in these cases. It's not impossible if you wisely invest and you are sure about it. But for now the best option is still btc.
In most cases, mining is no longer profitable at current price as energy is pretty expensive, mining difficulty has raised a lot in time (even if recently it got adjusted with ~15%) and you need to buy the most performant miners to make some profits, but their price is huge. (Few thousand $).
If you have no free/very cheap energy, a better option is to buy and hold. Current price for btc is very affordable comparing with few months ago and buying for holding long term seems to be the best option for now.

People are selling their altcoins as unfortunately they follow the Bitcoin's trend and lose their value much more than bitcoin during long bearish periods.

People willing bitcoin to die are usually the ones willing to buy cheap as even they know price might recover at some point.
That's like " the ship is sinking but I'll stay on board just in case it doesn't " when everyone else is heading for the lifeboats. 😊

Holding your bitcoin is not a bad idea. I'd say it won't be going up until mid january - early/feb NASDAQ said they'll be launching bitcoin futures in early 2019, so that certainly means we can expect some increase there.
But counting from now up until the first two weeks of January, I believe it would be save to invest in bitcoin.

You might have taken a wise decision as bearish period is still in place and it doesn't give any sign it will go away anytime soon.
During long bearish periods is recommended to remain in fiat or Bitcoin rather than altcoins that lose faster their value.
Lol 😊 Don't forget that main rule in cryto is to never invest more than you can afford to lose, so skipping Christmas gifts is nit a wise option imo. Family and friends are definitely more important than any investment. You can buy rather symbolic gifts and from the remaining money buy some Btc, eventually.

Bear and bull markets are cyclical. I think the easiest options in a bear market are one of the following: - get off and remain in fiat in order to minimize the loss - don't panic sell and hold until the next bull cycle.
What ee need to understand is that we should not make a drama from bear periods as they are nothing but normal things for a volatile market as crypto.
I don't think Bitcoin is going to zero. I rather think market is very manipulated and as bulls manipulated it upwards last year, bears manipulated it downwards this year. However, these periods are cyclical, you just need to be patient until bulls will take again the lead.
