7021  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Should Bitmain make a Q7? on: August 31, 2015, 10:55:16 AM
One thing I thought of is they managed to sell 1/3 more chips per S7.  So were likely talking 1/3 bigger profits per unit sold.   So in that view it was definitely a business decision on what S7 looks like, and it's power.

I still don't think they will take time to make a "Q7".  They will likely make a new U model but it will be much less power I would guess.

So our chance of a Q7 is if they sell chips.   Which I hope they do.  But I don't see it happening for a while if they do at all.  But I think it will take a 3rd party to get the 2 blade unit we expected.
7022  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 10k$ to invest with free electricty on: August 31, 2015, 10:46:11 AM
If you have "free unlimited energy" I would get a loan to start building an aluminium plant.

There is no free electricity on this planet, but I wonder why alluminium plant?

btc_istanbul its not true that there isnt free energy because in my country citizens get free water and electricity and i own my house and never get what you call water bill or electricty bill

What country are you in?  Likely it has limits though.  I cannot imagine them giving houses a ton of extra electricity to run thousands of watts of gear.

I could be wrong but I would start with one.. then two.. etc.  I think you will find a electrical limit before money limit if in a country it's "free".
7023  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Bladecenter H 2880W Breakout Boards. First batch closed, now selling from stock on: August 31, 2015, 10:44:02 AM
How long do we need to make the male to male 6pin wires to spoil up a s5+?
To hook up one of these boards?
Thanks in advance.

It really would depend on positioning.  It has 3 modules with it.  If you start at one side and go to the last module and go to the 3rd hashing board on it, that is a decent length.

But with watt's are you just going to first 2 modules (6 hashing units within them) and controller unit?   This would be 7 PCI-e cables on that.
7024  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best way to earn Bitcoins? on: August 31, 2015, 10:37:37 AM
MY best way to earn bitcoin is
- join Coinoindex signature campaign Smiley
- solve capta like Qlink
- earning from faucet
- also searching free BTC ( giveaway )

I suggest finding something else on time spent for faucets and especially solving capatcha.  You are going to spend so many hours for pennies in return.

I do agree with the mixing approach of using multiple things, not picking just one thing to earn from.  Some will say do X and make money.  For me it's mining, selling, sig campaign, etc.  So you can mix quite a few things and come up with a decent result in a lot of cases.
7025  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How I can earn from the Signature campaign? on: August 31, 2015, 10:34:32 AM
rank up ur account first then join a signature camp and keep posting to earn, very simple Smiley
it might be much easier if he would decide to buy the accounts instead of leveling up his new one though its my thoughts only

I don't suggest buying accounts.   Raising an account will always be better.   And you gain knowledge from your time on the forums.

If you use a bought account a lot of them are crap farmed posts.  This means not all people will want you if you buy an account and have bad post quality.  Yes some will get away with buying, but it really should not be supported as far as for signature campaigns.
youre definitely correct. from time to time using your own account and you ranked up your account up to sr. or maybe hero member, theres so many things that you may learned and also you will have a friends that may help you in the time when you are down or you can borrow to them in case of need coins urgently.

Human greed as always and we can't stop that. They want to claim more and never get satisfied. Everyone can having more than 1 account but there will be some risk for it so think wisely

We cannot stop greed.  But the funny part is likely some of them will buy accounts full of "one liners" like thanks or my favorite is offtopics like favorite drink.  Gee every day they say what they drink.

These accounts will apply to a "good" sig campaign and be turned down.   Yes a few will make it through but most of the farmed accounts really are quite crappy.  I wish everyone would enjoy the forums and not try to fast track.  But I do see why one would be wanting to fast track, I highly suggest them thinking twice before doing it.
7026  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Help] I need distributors of a certain product. on: August 31, 2015, 10:30:53 AM
hi there everyone
i don't know what forum topic i should post this

i am currently an associate at USANA health and sciences
and i just want to post a topic about it

i accept BTC as payment for the capital of obtaining its dealership

can anyone suggest where should i post it?
i need to find distributors for this product..

USANA is a MLM right?
Are you going to shoulder the shipping fees if someone purchased outside your country?

YES it is MLM

i'm just focusing on the recruiting part.
the membership...

Likely it will go under services.  I will be honest though I doubt anyone wants to pay to MLM.

MLM always seemed like a pyramid scheme to me.  I can remember I went to one MLM session.... was told it was something far different.   Needless to say I left within first 10 minutes after I got a good laugh at it. That case it was a food company claiming I could get rich quick selling its products.
7027  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Selling question! on: August 31, 2015, 10:24:21 AM
Is it allowed to sell MSDN keys on this forum?

I think no. As many people have negative feedback about these because if your account get closed then the keys will not work.
Correct me someone if i am wrong.

If you could prove it was done in a legal way ... yes.  But as MSDN does not allow the selling of it's keys you are likely to get a lot of negatives as said above.

So you will beak TOS and risk Microsoft getting mad at you for a few bucks.  And have a bad forum impression.

I suggest staying far away from selling MSDN keys.

I just need one.. If someone has some they won't use

That's a pretty scummy thing to do

Considering I sent him one... where is my cut droid?

I guess I didn't ask if he was not going to sell.  Just assumed.  But still surprising if true.
7029  Other / Meta / Re: Amph, the useless user! on: August 31, 2015, 10:09:59 AM
He openly admits to posting only to get paid. That probably does not help his cause here.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=877765.msg12227587#msg12227587

Macro might be the person to take this to.  I'm surprised he said that.

I have not had a problem with him and have been in same sig for a while.  But again suprising to hear post for money is main reason.  I enjoy the forums I think most of us would be here sig or no sig.
7030  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 1300W PSU only 8 PCI cables but I need 10! on: August 31, 2015, 10:01:36 AM

Great, I also found out on the internet that a a 16AWG cable can handle up to 3.7 Amps
Source: http://www.answers.com/Q/How_much_current_can_a_16_gauge_wire_handle

Dunno where they got that answer from, but it's WAY on the low side.

16 AWG in most usage is good for at least 8 and possibly as high as 10 amps.

The national electric code doesn't go that low, but if you take their rating for 14 AWG (a VERY VERY conservitive 15 amps) and pro-rata for the relative circular mil area of a 14AWG to a 16AWG you get a much more accurate while still conservative figure.

I think they were talking about 16 awg for a splitter.  For a 2 PCIe splitter to be exact.  So it's not going to get anywhere near 10 amps.

But I think your thinking of the electric cord running, and they are saying for a splitter.  So 2 different things.
7031  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: August 31, 2015, 09:59:01 AM
That old firmware has a lot of bugs. You need to use ck's custom built cgminer instead of Bitmains to get proper speeds on some pools / share difficulty, and updating cgminer doesn't stick so if needs to be done every time you reboot the S4. It's annoying.

I have not had issues with it.  I guess it does depend on pool though.

Seems like use a pool that works with it and use old firmware.  I do see smit's reasoning for not releasing.   I am surprised nicehash did not foot the bill for his work.  I was guessing they did, I do feel bad if he got no support and nicehash did not give him a decent payday for his work.
7032  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: August 31, 2015, 09:55:44 AM
is Spondoolies going to launch an S7 competitor (or any miners at all) anytime soon ?

They have kept quiet so no one really knows.  We still have 20 or so day's but likely Bitmain will be only one shipping chips at that time.

I hope I am wrong SP could suprise us but I think silence will remain.
7033  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Hands On] Bitmain AntMiner S5+ - Notlist3d on: August 31, 2015, 09:54:09 AM
Kinda a overview of past week.  They no longer have a perfect release with no pictures of bad hashing board.   Still waiting to hear how it went for Tupsu on RMA.

The S5+ form factor was kept for the S7 surprising most.  It is a good form factor just surprising for the S7 release.

Congratz I have a feeling you have many nights of little sleep coming Smiley

But is something few have achieved here.  Wish you the best of luck.
7035  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: August 31, 2015, 04:07:17 AM
I really don't know what's so important about the post Oct firmware, but i would like to know that as well. Most seem to want to use cgminer 4.9.0. Not sure why, but i don't even think latest stock firmware has it?

Looking at details looks like they can get up to "update cgminer to 4.8.0".   So I'm not sure why the old firmware with a little old cgminer would not just be used for those wanting freq and voltage.

S4+ i realize they don't have a software with it from bitmain.  So I can see why there.  But S4 seems obvious to just use old firmware.
7036  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BTC investment on: August 31, 2015, 02:31:03 AM
First of all try to get a clear cut distinction between what is investment and what is ponzi..
All investments are not ponzis but all ponzis are investments..
Try to get a clear thought in it before you do anything with your btcs..
Best of luck

Look at ROI rate or price.  If they are super low prices (especially things like cloud mining) then there is a good chance of ponzi.  If you have a investment that promises tons of ROI really quick.. chances are ponzi.

I think common sense comes into the decision alot.

If you're going to invest, you need to evaluate the business itself. 99.99% of the people here throw their money blindly at anything and everything, then claim "scam" after, when it was an obvious scam to begin with. If someone has to ask what a good investment is, they shouldn't be investing.

This thread has gone on far to long my quote is from April Smiley.   But you should do lot's of research and evaluation.

With cloud mining look for concrete information they even have miners, most cand even do this.  We have seen some that are photo shopped pics to make data centers.  There is a famous one where every blue rack looks exactly the same, they were copied and pasted.

I agree sadly some throw money before looking into it at all.  This should never happen but it does.
7037  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what is mining? on: August 31, 2015, 02:24:37 AM
what is mining? i am new to bitcoin. Do I need to do it to get paid through bitcoin? I am not all that computer savvy. thanks Smiley

Mining is a process to generate more Bitcoin. Mainly, it includes a computer or hardware doing math calculations to "find" the new Bitcoins. You do not need to mine to earn or spend Bitcoins.

At this point it is really asics  or hardware doing BTC mining.  Suggesting you can use a computer is misleading.  A computer will lose money mining CPU/GPU on BTC.

So in most cases it takes a investment to get an asic.  If you did computer CPU/GPU it will be for learning as you lose money mining btc with it. 1-2 2 year old usb stick miners will do more then most GPU's with high insensitivity on mining.
7038  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread aug 23rd to sept 5th. Picks are closed. on: August 31, 2015, 02:21:23 AM
Bitcoin Difficulty shows it going down a little:

Bitcoin Difficulty:    54,256,630,328
Estimated Next Difficulty:    56,836,275,848 (+4.75%)
Adjust time:    After 680 Blocks, About 4.5 days
Hashrate(?):    415,963,691 GH/s

Still a pretty big jump though compared to our normal 2.

It does look like it will be over 5% at this pace even three blocks changes the prediction a fair bit still.
Was thinking it would be lower myself but maybe it's a bit seasonal as the hot summer starts to switch into a cooler fall and the electricity costs go down a bit as those air conditioners turn off. (It is mining speculation ^^)
(Also got prediction sniped at 1.76%-2% with valkir but It looks like it won't trigger so no worries)

Bitcoin Difficulty: 54,256,630,328
Estimated Next Difficulty: 56,950,000,494 (+4.96%)
Adjust time: After 677 Blocks, About 4.5 days
Hashrate(?): 415,018,563 GH/s
Block Generation Time(?):
1 block: 9.5 minutes

Its not quite winter though for most.  I know this week I have a few day's still hot, but last week and a half have been mild.

I think this is likely do to new products not winter miners yet.  So we have a few bumps I think and will see a little more normal of 2 percent we were having.  I hope to be wrong on this though.
7039  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: August 31, 2015, 02:13:46 AM
You will never get your bitcoin back if you buy one of these at this price. It isn't even close. This is for suckers or those with stolen electricity.

I would say the PACMiC and S5+ was the sucker's call.  This thing is like the HA-HA afterward.  I mean they, Bitmain, knew they had that S7 right around the corner.  Yet they throw up the S5+ at a ~$2300 premium and at .444 j/GH.  Then boom what not but a week or two later drop the S7?  Dirty pool.

Bah! They weren't even going to sell the S5+ to the general public until people started seeing it sold elsewhere. The people essentially demanded that it be sold to the general public. And then they only sold a limited batch. Anyone who bought an S5+ should have known the S7 was coming soon. Hardly "dirty pool".

I would not say to dirty either.  I am happy they delivered it.   I thought they were not going to to general public at least.

I am happy with my purchase, and I was able to give out a few coupons and help a few.  I thank them for doing coupons, I wish it was a bigger coupon but I realize they did not have to do anything at all.

I also realize they cannot make all people happy.  I am happy they kept S5+ form factor it is a big improvement from original S5.   But some will fight it as amount of watts.  Others want the power.  I am surprised they did 3 blades though. I would have bet it all on 2 blade version at launch
7040  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: August 31, 2015, 02:08:12 AM
Is that smits software for voltage control available somewhere? From the chart i believe you can undervolt just a tiny bit and still run at stock/setting speed but with less watt?

No, it isn't. Back in the day no one wanted to chip in to support his efforts to fix bitmain's crippled firmware, so only I got it. Any firmware after the October S4 firmware has the voltage control intentionally disabled by bitmain.

So you're saying that the smits's/Nicehash firmware for S4 for lower fan speed and cgminer 4.9.0 works, they just don't include voltage control? Still sound a bit vindictive to punish people who were not involved at that time even if they offer to pitch in now.

If you want to complain, complain to bitmain. They're the ones who fucked everyone over with their bullshit functionality removing S4 firmware updates. They just fucked S4+ owners over with an firmware update again. Smit didn't receive a single satoshi from S4 owners aside from myself. I'd have told them to fuck off too.

I have no interest in complaining. It just sound vindictive/childish when "you" refuse to share the firmware with people willing to pay out of a "You should have pitched in then" grudge.

......... There's no grudge and the firmware isn't mine to share. It belongs to Smit. Got any more brilliant observations?

But i am talking about Smit refusing to share/sell to other users, giving the reason that no one was interested to support the project back then, as other users reported in the thread. You said it yourself, but i'm not talking about you. When i said "you" i put the quote there to signify i don't mean you literally.

And you sound fairly bitter and snarky for someone with no grudge Tongue

That's not how quotes work. Anyways, the topic has been beaten to death, that's why I sound annoyed.  No one does anything for free around here, yet everyone expects everything for nothing. People were too cheap to chip in, and too lazy to bitch and complain to bitmain and get the issue resolved. What more can be said?

There's a toggle switch in the software to enable or disable voltage control. I have no idea how to change it, but if you can figure it out you'll have voltage control too. If you think you can squeeze blood from a stone, ask people who own S4s in this thread to donate a bit to smit. I'm sure he'll be happy to release his hard work after that.

Sound fair enough. But no, if it wasn't done before i doubt there's much interest in it now. And truth be said, saving 30 watts at stock settings isin't exactly worth starting a crusade for me.

But if its really just Bitmain disabling a flag and i could get my hand on the source, that might be of actual interest for me just for fun. But it would probably be more effective to talk to Nicehash about their S4 firmware version.

The source isn't available unfortunately. The savings are much greater than 30 watts. I'm going off memory here, but 0700 200MHz vs 0725 200MHz (Stock) is pretty close to 200 watts. I'd have to find my notes from when I tested a bunch of voltage and speed combinations.

That's a lot crazier than the chart i have seen. You're basically saying you can run it at 2.3~TH undervolted for about the same watt as a normal stock. That could be worth batting an eye.

I guess i'll have to do my homework.

No I'm talking about undervolting at 200MHz, which is stock 2 TH/s.

And i'm talking about overclocking with the watt saved to run at 2.2-2.3TH/s at the same consumption of a stock machine at 2TH/s.

Dude i tried chasing Smit for the firmware with a donation to no avail, I also tried prelude (I understand dude its not urs to sell)

If there are others out there like us 2 please talk up now to see if there is any chance of ever getting this firmware so we can undervolt!!

The original firmware has the frequency and voltage.  Does it not work or is there a reason anyone is not trying to use it?
