7022  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KNC on fire ! on: October 11, 2013, 04:52:47 PM
Is this a wider problem or just couple of units smoking? I hope my stuff will be okey once I get it..

One of the four boards in mine died on a firmware update.  We've sent the faulty board back and now they have it they're sending out a replacement to us today.  Still we've had lost over a week mining on only three of the four boards.
Do you think physically it died, or just software bricked?

I'm not sure as we're getting them shipped to an associate in the US to avoid paying import duty and 20% VAT.  I'll link him to this thread.
0_O Surely you have to pay the equivalent US taxes when it lands in the US?

Do you have any other colours besides silver (I'd like one of each preferably) and will you escrow? (I'm UK btw).
Only silvers, the coloured ones haven't been made in a while and now production has stopped, probably won't have any new units ever. Escrow with John is fine if you pay the fees (wont cost much).

Are you sure you can read?
Edit: If the poster is looking at what I'm looking at, those are resistors.
Edit2: I can see the dark silhouettes of capacitors too. Could be any of it that started.

How about you go ahead and show us where all these resistors you see are, and since I'm typing: have you managed to get the P/N of that DC/DC regulator from the AM blades yet?
Are you blind as well? We know you're stupid, but this is a new one.

Hello all.

You know the deal, have 114x silver rev 3 USB miners and 6x V2 blades for sale. Factory sealed and hence untested. Doubt there will be faulty units but that's up to friedcat not me.

Will ship to UK or EU, ask me for EU prices with quantity please.

Price is 0.092btc for USBs and 2.0btc for blades inc delivery AND VAT, min quantity 5 for usbs. Accept UKBT at gox.

7028  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KnCMiner Jupiter Miner First Impressions on: October 09, 2013, 08:06:35 PM
How stable temps with the case on?

I am seeing one chip on each miner run hot even with a big fan on top like you had.. might add a crossfan

ASIC slot #1: 64.0 ℃
ASIC slot #2: -
ASIC slot #3: 50.5 ℃
ASIC slot #4: -
ASIC slot #5: 55.5 ℃
ASIC slot #6: 48.0 ℃

~415 Gh  (something seems up with one of the chips)

ASIC slot #1: 64.0 ℃
ASIC slot #2: -
ASIC slot #3: 55.5 ℃
ASIC slot #4: 47.5 ℃
ASIC slot #5: 46.0 ℃
ASIC slot #6: -

~518 Gh

64C is not hot for a chip.  Don't worry.
It is for an off-die sensor. Actual temp could be 10-25C higher in the core itself. I don't have a clue what KNC is using though.

ship to Aus?
Sure, first batch was to Aus.
7030  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Water cooling for Jupiter on: October 08, 2013, 10:49:27 PM
I think that will be great
If somebody here at forum
Can make a water cooling system for knc miners
I think will be easy to install
And make of course
Doesnt KNC use a standard mounting bracket for their ASIC's? Like a certain socket size so they could use off the shelf coolers.

Yes, but remember the volume of heat you're asking to remove. A 120mm rad per chip running 24/7 with inconsistent ambient is really pushing it long term. And finding somewhere to mount 4x240mm rads.... There isn't currently a reason to go WCing [baring more fires lol].

Seen it before, no (easy) fix.

still haven't received or heard anything from friedcat, howabout you guys?
Not received anything for my B1 or B3 units.
7033  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KNC on fire ! on: October 08, 2013, 08:54:18 AM
Yes, the word is NOT to plug / unplug your miner power cables while it is powered up or it will surge the boards and kill them.

(Bitcoinorama just stated this was the cause.)

ummmm, so you have a power failure, and when the power comes back on the unit will die?

ok never mind, I just got it, don't unplug the psu from the miner.  hahaha well who would do that? Smiley
Who would do that, yes :s Sounds a bit weird.

That's because you *are* an armchair engineer.  Are you *sure* those are resistors?

+1

full pack of 10 working without any problems 2 more usb hubs on order and 20 more to test.
Good to hear.

The paperclip mod isn't unsafe at all :s
