24 hour high of $2600+ on bittrex.
Slowly but surely the rise is on again after the 'Thursday bloodbath'
I'm not sure if there will be a levelling off soon.
7042  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Belacoin - Supercharging entrepreneurship with the power of the blockchain on: June 17, 2017, 05:11:09 PM
We're talked about Belacam Gamma a lot in our Slack (Belacoin.herokuapp.org), but much of it is still in work. Right now, our team is adding new features and overhauling the design. Belacam Beta proved the business concept (51% of photos get likes), so Belacam Gamma is more focused on getting the site scalable and beginning to branch out beyond just cryptocurrency users.

In short, Belacam Gamma looks and works a lot more like a real social media site. New features include cover photos, a smarter feed algorithm, USD balance estimates, trending hashtags, and more. Beyond that, almost every single feature that currently exists in Beta has gotten an upgrade. The lightbox is enhanced, you can edit your bio, cover photo, and profile pic directly from your user page, and uploading has been made much easier. We've posted screenshots on Belacoin's twitter account and in our Slack, but we're holding off on really promoting it well until we're almost ready to go.

51% of photos getting likes is quite healthy and I think
This will rise as the photo quality rises as it is bound to
Do when people realise they need to improve their postings.

I have seen the belabam gamma images and they look amazing For sure.
7043  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SNC] SunContract - Decentralized Energy Market on: June 17, 2017, 05:04:42 PM
India is a booming market for renewable energy, many wind farms and solar grids. Now this question might sound utterly stupid, in India renewable industry comes under Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, means the government should be on one end of the contract as a supplier, right. And if that country has not legalised BTC or ETH, that would be tricky.
This is exactly what i mentioned earlier in this thread, there will be legal issues and many paper works to be done to make this project a reality and it might take a longer time for everything to settle down because it is not that easy to get the paper works done pretty fast particularly if a government is involved, legalization of bitcoin or ETH is another chapter.
I think the government will not be a bigger problem for that project because they are using this system as a way to collect funds for the project and the token is working as the shares of the investors which I think is legal for any government.

I think is there has no problem with token or shares. the energy market is very sensitive. In many countries, you have big taxes through which the state controls GDP, and they do not like a lot of innovations in this sphere especially with the decentralised market. Project like SunContract is for future, and i think 3-5 years is minimum to become applicable
to me in my country there is intense need of this project. because we have too much electricity shortage and specially in summer when the temperature raise to 45+ C. the situation become more complete because of the increasing demand of electricity. i am sure that this project will be on top in my country.
We hope that this project get a bigger success and this project reach to every needy country of he world for electricity. In the start I think they are limited to a few countries and then they will reach to other countries up to which I know but right now we can get the profit by participating in their crowdfunding.
Yes it really need to invest in their ICO because if we will participate more in this project then this project will become more stronger financially and if they will become more stronger financially then we hope that this project will give benefit to more part of the world.
I hope that this project will get their success and it is sure that this is provided for all of the world. We will get the benefit from it by two ways one by investing in this project by buying their tokens and the other benefit is that this project will reach to our country to benefit us with that technology.
I agree with you, I am studying about this project from a longer time and after reading about the planning of the developers and after reading about the response of the people to this project it convinced me to take part in this project and now I am confident that this project will bring a good fortune for my finance.
Not only India is the target market but other developed countries as well. Have you seen the floating solar farm of China? Which produces more than the floating Solar Farm in London. Many countries are shifting to renewable energy because they know it is better than fossil and coal energy, that is why in the long term it can be promising for this project.

That floating solar power plant is an absolute wonder.

I agree, solar has to be adopted more widely and by more
And more countries. I think the price of the hardware is
Reducing and the cost of using fossil fuels is rising.
i really hope that this sun contracts project is gaining more
and more attention.
7044  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GNT] Golem Project - The world’s most powerful supercomputer on: June 16, 2017, 11:54:16 AM
Golem project has been declared one of the five best projects for year 2017. One more reason to be excited and happy being in the project as holders of GNT token. We are going to see price in double figures against dollars. Under $10 anything will be cheaper soon.

DO you have a link to where you read this news?
as the saying goes "images or it didnt happen"

yes the thread used to be very active prior to the Brass Golem news
but it is still a bit behind schedule.
7045  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Trying the new Bitcoin ATM near my house on: June 16, 2017, 10:31:52 AM
There's a new Bitcoin ATM in the mall down the block from me, so I went over and checked it out.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xajKjxxRL04

I never like bitcoin ATMs because of the rates. they're good for publicity though!

totally missed this thread initially!
I love it, loved the youtube video too, thanks to the OP for posting.

The rate doesnt matter if you are spending $20 - $50
it maters greatly if you are spending $250+ IMO

Its a great way to convert a few extra FIAT's into BTC on the go
without having to jump through the usual security hoops to set up.
7046  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are there people here from 2013 who are not millionaires now? on: June 15, 2017, 10:24:16 PM
This is quite an informative thread, its nice to see peoples experience with crypto since the early days.
Its also a pity to hear that people also cashed out "early" but I suppose a value of $20 could have been
a massive profit from the initial earning of 1 BTC.

Hopefully the future will throw up some Karma for all.

There are also lessons to be learned from reading this thread, some of which can be applied to the current volatility.
7047  Economy / Speculation / Re: drop of the value... any reasons? on: June 15, 2017, 09:51:25 PM
now at the moment on Bittrex the dollar value is back up to $2380
a stead rise from $1900, it might fall again but we are going through
a spell of turbulence or volatility but it should rise healthily
7048  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The king is already dead. on: June 15, 2017, 03:03:35 PM
I guess this thread can be added to that other thread that lists how many time Bitcoin has been pronounced dead, I think the counter is up to around 130.

Can't seem to find the thread on this forum, but there are similar ones on Reddit and other blogs.

Even without a scaling solution in the near future, Bitcoin will probably still survive.

We could rename the thread "The King is already dead . . . AGAIN, and like for the 4th time"  Grin

ah he will rise again dont worry.
7049  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lego microSD card on: June 15, 2017, 02:59:19 PM
Oh, just an idea to store backups of wallets or private keys or anything.

Pictures are worth a thousand bitcoins.

Put them all in a box or clear plastic bag, keep on your person, and you can go through any airport anywhere in the world. Unless you encounter a government that doesn't like kid's toys; don't go to North Korea maybe.

What a brilliant idea, even to keep as a secret location in the house.
it could be left in a pile anywhere.

The only thing is Lego is very popular at the moment, mind it isnt sold
on ebay by mistake  Grin

it is for sure hard to beat a memory wallet and can also be hard to remember the seed words.

What about a line from a favorite song or even a complete verse?

I have this nice little decorative keyring thingy which doesnt look like a USB
its only 4gb but handy for essentials  Wink and the lid is very secure.

7050  Economy / Speculation / Re: Reason for Bitcoin price fall on: June 15, 2017, 12:02:06 PM
There was a thread here on BTCT about "Pump and Dump" groups recently
I wonder was the price affected by a concentrated effort to "cash out" of BTC
or was it is snowball effect?

I certainly hope this infighting sorts itself out because there will be no winners
7051  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The king is already dead. on: June 15, 2017, 11:50:17 AM
THE KING IS DEAD, LONG LIVE THE KING  Grin

come on, we have seen this a few times this year already.
I personally think if not soon that medium to long term BTC will gain back its value.

Regarding IOTA, Its interesting but I will have to do a bit of investigating before giving my thoughts on it
From Wikipedia > The word is used in a common English phrase, 'not one iota', meaning 'not the slightest amount',

7052  Economy / Speculation / Re: drop of the value... any reasons? on: June 15, 2017, 08:32:13 AM
i hope the pullback stops soon

Why? The lower the price drops, the cheaper you will be able to buy some more bitcoins. Most of this is just short-term speculators running around like headless chickens and selling when they see the slightest drop in the price. I just love it when the price drops like this. Last time I was able to buy loads of cheap coins and I sold it for triple the value I bought it at. < Yes, I had to wait for a year, but I made huge profits >

The distribution of coins are spread uneven, with a small percentage of people owning a lot of coins and then a large percentage of people owning a small percentage of the remaining coins. This makes bitcoin price manipulation possible, when a few of these whales dump some coins. < They dump, wait for the price to drop and buy in cheap again when other people start to panic sell >   ^smile^

no, this is the way to go, i'm not long in crypto and already
this year I have seen this rise and drop in value
and people buying and selling in a frenzy.

play it cool, buy low!  Wink

Poloniex is shit, half the people have switched over to another exchange after the recent debacle

And the UI and experience sucks ass, also is so fucking slow

+1 I have removed all of my currencies from poloniex Over to bittrex

Great to see some progress on the dark gravity wave implementation
Also I will be updating my desktop wallet.

7056  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Belacoin - Supercharging entrepreneurship with the power of the blockchain on: June 13, 2017, 02:02:08 PM
I'm just waiting for news about the expected updates,

the new Belacam site and Dark gravity Wave

It seems to me the Belacam test site is kind of gone of the boil...

7057  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are we effectively buying? on: June 13, 2017, 11:42:47 AM
after reading the post by AmarO im thinking "this is going to be a great thread"

I also like the OP's analogy "Coins seem to be simply a token of optimism, like buying a bands t-shirt at the concert."

The way I look at "coins" or tokens is, what is the project offering?
is it just a coin replicating bitcoin or does it offer a technology
which may or may not actually make it into mainstream adoption.

I think we are really in the crypto infancy at the moment to me there
are some really promising projects in development but there are still
a lot of questions to be answered too.

I suppose to answer the question directly we are buying shares in blockchain technology . . .
7058  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SNC] SunContract - Decentralized Energy Market on: June 13, 2017, 11:28:20 AM

i like your concept but have two quick questions:
1. do i need an invitation to join your slack?
2. have you checked whether producers and customers can legally have a PPA contract between them? For example in several countries retail customers (even corporate) do not have the option to buy directly from producers so that they cannot bypass the utility companies so easily. what is the idea to address such situation?

Thanks for the update, this is good news for sure and will be happening quite quickly.
I think there are a few questions above by dj_andreasgr which need to be answered.
Im not so sure how the legislation in europe lies with Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs)
has this been looked into?
7059  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: <BREAKING NEWS> “Due To Popular Demand” Goldman Starts Covering Bitcoin on: June 13, 2017, 09:08:16 AM
Goldman Sachs and the SEC are the same thing.

Expect Goldman Sachs to echo the SEC's push for crypto centralization and regulation with generous amounts of political spin applied to convince the public they're safer staying in fiat because bitcoin is a "bubble".   Roll Eyes

That would be a good time for Bitcoin to show its resiliency. If the SEC and all the bankers dare to try to stop it, we all know they will not be successful. The network was designed to be above any regulations and there is nothing they can do about it.

Sorry SEC, but Satoshi - 1, SEC/Banks - 0.

Do I think BTC will replace fiat? No. But its existence is still a win.

No, man. They don't even try to stop Bitcoin anymore. Because most people, even here on bitcointalk, consider Bitcoin just an asset and not a currency. So banks, SEC, governments, etc. they all have no reason to be afraid...

yea I agree most people consider bitcoin as an asset
purely to trade and make money, lets face it its human nature
but yes I think this news will see more profit hunters entering the market.

what will the negative effects be?
7060  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Reputable altcoin wallets on: June 13, 2017, 08:11:45 AM
I dont have any experience of USB wallets like Trezor or the Ledger Nano S for example

I use a desktop wallet personally > EXODUS [exodus.io]
Support for Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dash, Litecoin, Golum, Augur and Dogecoin assets.
So thats 3 if your choice which can be stored in Exodus.

There is also a roadmap here for other assets which may or may not be added soon . . . including Monero
http://woobull.com/exodus-wallet-roadmap-a-list-of-upcoming-asset-support/

Personally I'm not aware of other wallets which will hold all your chosen assets.

You might have to download the respective wallets dedicated to each.

is it possible to know if exodus keep our private keys in the system? if yes how do they keep? i mean we better not to share our private key even with service providers.

Exodus dont store any private keys,
they are generated and stored on the users computer.
There is a backup system in place also so if the computer
goes down the wallet can be retrieved via the e-mail link
generated during the backup process!

here is a link > http://support.exodus.io/knowledge_base/topics/where-are-my-private-keys-stored
