7061  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How much did you earn on bounty campaigns? on: December 14, 2017, 03:27:16 PM
I bought my new cellphone using the bounties i received,i joined social media campaign in some successful ICOs.

That's a good one mate. I'm sure you bought the latest model of either Samsung or Iphone. So its really possible for a newbie though to earn that much? Methinks something is wrong here. Grin

The project I am involve in Meetip coin is ending its ICO tomorrow and hope to receive my first token next week. After two months of hardwork on this forum I am here to see some bulk. But I think is patience that can make one make money from bounties.

Dump it once you got the coins. LOL. Well, as far as know, tokens are worthless and should be dump right away once you got it before it becomes useless.

I myself haven't participated in a bounty, but from what I read in the forum, it really depends on the ICO that you have joined, and bounties are very profitable for Senior and up because they received the most reward. And I saw a thread before that he received .5 BTC bitcoin for one - two months of work in bounties, I don't know though if is he just trolling or what. And another tip I got is that they usually dump their tokens immediately once they got it because chances once the coins is listed, it will be pump so you need to ride the waves, so to speak. And I feel that it is very rewarding on your part after all those hardwork.

I just finished my first bounty campaign, the storm project, and earned tokens that worth 5.8 eth according to the ico price.
I heard that a lot of people made a lot of tokens with Storm but the reason for this was that a lot of people left the campaign inbetween and the campaign ran for almost about 4 months, so the tokens of these people who left inbetween were distributed among the existing bounty members. Not all bounties are this much rewarding.

Oh thanks for the tip. It looks like its better to look for bounties that can a few participants so that the distribution of tokens amongst those who really stay up to the end will be huge. I'll keep that in mind.
7062  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Be patient for your profit on: December 14, 2017, 02:48:47 PM
Each project is different,  sometimes dev's are better and more efficient with developing and sometimes is a one person like it was in NAV project at the beginning. Best lesson is life, I was waiting 2 years and sold my nav's for 2BTC at that time (december 2015) if I wait 2 more and I will have 20BTC.

Damn mate, what a difference if you have just waited more, since you have already the mental toughness to last 2 years waiting for it to grow. I think you have already move forward then. I have the same experience though, could have 7 bitcoins by today.  Sad

a lot of newcomers to crypto who dont have that much knowledge panic when the price goes down.
they think this is the bursting bubble that everyone is talking about, i am going to loose my investment aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh  Roll Eyes
they have to learn patience for crypto

Exactly that's the very definition of Weak Hands - impatient, and not holding on their coins tightly. And to add to that, they really think that the price will really go on parabolic all the time. And then when the graph shows that it is dropping, they quickly push the sell orders, all because they panic. In this kind of industry mindset and feelings are very important. If you are very soft, you can't last in this world. Learn how to control your emotions and be patience so that go on a distance and earn huge amount of bitcoins.
7063  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-12-14] Goldman Sachs: Bitcoin Is Not A Competitor For Gold on: December 14, 2017, 02:17:00 PM
I will stick to my believed that there are really Gold investors who are flocking into crypto market from behind. Of course they are not dumping their gold investments to shift to bitcoin. Its better to hold them both are leverage or something like a hedge in economic crisis. Gold has already a proven record on that.

The last major and widely hedge of gold is during WW2. As for bitcoin, I think we can consider Venezuela and Zimbabwe as case studies for using bitcoin to help them out in each respectively economic turmoil.

There's already a lot of thread and debate about Gold and Bitcoin. Won't go that further. But if I'm given the chance to choose, I will have them both.  Grin. It's not greed, its more of a contingency plan more than ever on my end.
7064  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: better wallet on: December 13, 2017, 11:59:02 PM
What is a better wallet, nova exchange or cryptopia. They look like the same but I was wondering who is faster in transferring ..

Just what members pointed out, they are not wallet that is good for holding your bitcoins, specially huge amounts. Here is the Ann thread on Nova. Just check it out and decide for yourself.

[ANN] Novaexchange.com - Crypto currency exchange

But if you really want to have a safe and trusted wallet for storing your bitcoin used this one:

https://electrum.org/#home

For storing ETH and tokens:

https://www.myetherwallet.com/

And here is the link of all trusted wallets as far as bitcoin is concern. Choose what's appropriate for you.

https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet

Again, exchanges are not safe to store your coins because in a likelihood of a hack, chances are that your coins could be stolen. And if you don't hold the private keys, its not your coins.

You also need to protect them. You can search the forum for more tips on safeguarding your wallet. Better be safe than sorry dude. Hackers are targeting us because of the huge money involved.

I use greenAddress, seems good to me, although i am new also :S
I just looked on google and read up about a few, GreenAddress seems simple to use for me, and has ok protection from what I can see.
Open to suggestions tho.

I used GreenAddress too. Another trusted and safe wallet as well to keep your bitcoins.
7065  Economy / Economics / Re: short term investment or long term invesetment on: December 13, 2017, 11:27:23 PM
From my personal perspective, bitcoin should be really be a long term investment now. It is not what is looks like though in the beginning. It was just for micro-payments structure, however when people saw that you can actually store your wealth in bitcoin wallet, let it rest there for a while and see it grows overtime in becomes one of the best long term investment you can have.

As for short term investment, it is also good as well because you can earn a substantial financial gain in a very short amount of time. You realized and hold your profits immediately, but risk is there, and if you don't know how to mitigate it, your short term investment will be wipe out from you without knowing it.

So its really a choice and depends what the individual is capable as far as his money goes. If he/she is a risk taker and wants to see profits instantly, then short term is most appropriate, but if you don't want pressure and tension, then go long term with minimum of 3 - 5 years.
7066  Economy / Speculation / Re: When Bitcoin Cross $50,000 on: December 13, 2017, 11:02:58 PM
2 years is a safe estimate. This year alone bitcoin rose exponentially to more than 1000%. So if we are all going to based on that, next 2-3, $50K is possible.

I just hope that investment institution that have been embracing will not be a drawback to bitcoin. And them coming in will likely increase the chance of bitcoin price being manipulated by big entities such as those institution.

This 2017 is the best year so far, but I'm looking at the next couple of years which will be critical to the market. Let's see how it goes, people are still talking about bitcoin being a bubble and soon be burst. However, personally if ever it will be burst, I'm sure that it will come back even stronger.

And once 50K is surpass, another set of investors will join the millionaires or even billionaires club.
7067  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoins for illegal activity on: December 13, 2017, 10:15:58 PM
From recent news in India it is heard that bitcoins are used to sell drugs..I know its a currency and it is also used as a normal money... but these can create a bad space in people's mind that bitcoins are used to sell drugs..so they will not use bitcoins... Conclusion is that BTC is also a currency which is having a high value in the market..and bitcoins must not be used in these illegal activity which can reduce its usage and value.

This is the initial impression of people who have bitcoin for the first time, it is being used by criminals underground. Its an exploit that those bad guys found on bitcoin and they simply take advantage of it. But if they think that using bitcoin can hide them, they are all wrong. Bitcoin is not anonymous. Everyone can be followed in blockchain.

I agree however, its really inevitable, but don't take bitcoin in bad light because it was not plan to be used by criminals. It was designed by Satoshi as P2P and as micro payment.

But we can't stop criminals taking advantage, that's how they'd be, crooks who uses their God given talents to stole and abuse every system that they can found. And its sad that they given bitcoin a bad reputation.
7068  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I'm very disappointed with myself. on: December 13, 2017, 02:55:35 PM
I'm extremely depressed about my impatience and persistence.
I'm a stupid man. Fuck myself.
I bought the ETC when its price was 15$, i kept it for three months, including when it down at 9$, I still don't sell, because i believe it. And when ETC rise to 15$. I sold everything and waited it down $ 13 to buy more. But, fuck myself, the next day it rise to fucking 30$, Are you kidding me?
I bought 5000 XRP from May, i still believe it, I bought more yesterday, I bought when its price was 0,00001610sts, and when it down 0,00001558, i afraid BTC up, XRP down. So i sold everything. And... This morning I woke up with a sense of chest not say words.

This is my mistake, definitely like that. I can't blame anyone.
I told myself, "The market is still there. Nothing to hurry"
I don't complain, i post here just relieve stress. I didn't  tell anyone about this, including my wife.
Thank for listening.

Its OK mate. At least you have somewhat releases the stress out of your chest. There are even members here I've seen thinking of taking their life because they have made stupid moves and lost a lot.

And this is a hard lessons for you to swallow but I'm sure that you will get how this crypto market works. It doesn't work with emotions and you need a lot of patience in order to succeed. Learn from this mistakes.

Don't put everything on yourself and you are not first and will not be the last one to made such "stupid" mistakes. The best way is to move forward forget everything and start from scratch. It's not too late, there's a lot of opportunities in the future. This is just another bump along the way. I can feel you because I have experienced this as well.
7069  Economy / Speculation / Re: Total crypto market is now worth HALF A TRILLION dollars on: December 13, 2017, 01:33:45 PM
BTC to break $300B cap. This just took the cryptocurrency market to an astonishing $500B!

Bitcoin is going to break the $300b market cap mark prety soon it seems. And when it does it'll probably take the entire cryptocurrency market with it, i don't even think that $500 billion is going to be an accurate estimate. Something more like $600-700 billion.

Whether or not it can hit the astonishing figure of $1 trillion next year is the real question here.

It has been an amazing ride, and most of the fuel has come from bitcoin. We've seen altcoins outperform bitcoin in the first half of the year and now bitcoin is really a lot stronger than in the first half.

Yeah, bitcoin could really break the $300b market cap very soon as it sits around 57% of the total crypto marketcap. Really scary though to think bitcoin started this year at $700 and not it grows to $17K. If we crosses $20K this year, I think $300b market cap will also be touch.

I agree that marketcap is not a good barometer to measure coins real value, but you can't help to be astonished how much money is being poured in bitcoin and crypto currencies in general.

If we continue with this trend then there's no doubt that 1 trillion could be cross as well next year.

Mostly crypto's is fuel by the Asian investors, and I don't think that we will see a slow down next year. On the contrary, I'm seeing Japan and South Korea will still lead this march, with US and the rest of the Western Hemisphere at its side. 2018 will be another exciting year for crypto, no doubt about it.
7070  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin crossed $16,700 on: December 12, 2017, 09:38:52 PM
I really hope so. It is finding it hard to break resistance though from the previous top. However, if that happens,we should even expect bitcoin crossing past $18000 and above and setting another ATH. Not too optimistic yet about anything though.

It already crosses $17K, I hope that breaking the $16K resistance will stay as it is. I observed that last couple of days that breaking that wall is so difficult and I was happy seeing the price above $17K now. Let see how it goes. Lately the price volatility has been reduced significantly. Don't know if this is influenced by those financial institution embracing bitcoin. Or the price has already reaches it peak this year.

Bitcoin's crazy run is crushing all other digital currencies.
This weekend Bitcoin will rich $20,000?

No that won't happen. $20,000 is still quite far to assume it will happen for this weekend. People are the one who are rushing to claim their own bitcoins while there is still enough time. The thing is we have to wait for it until the price reaches that most awaited price for this moment.

I don't think it's impossible. We are not far from 20000 dollar. If price rises about 25%, it will reach 20000 dollar. 25% rise in 5 days is possible as it has happened several times in the past months.

Again, let see how it goes. 20K is the most anticipated price this days. Many have been very positive that we can cross it this year. It will be good moment for us to end this year seeing bitcoin at this price. CME hasn't yet started, so there's a chance that we could get there in time. Anything is possible, no need to question that. The question is how tough for anyone not to sell our coins seeing the price touching this price.
7071  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Stabilizing At $20K on: December 12, 2017, 05:41:00 PM
I think that the OP has raised a valid point. However, it cut both ways. If investors see that bitcoin price is somewhat leveling, there are chances that they are going and shy away from the ecosystem. On the other hand, a new set of investors will come in because that's what they are looking for, bitcoin price somewhat stabilizing and volatility reduced.

But its hard to tell at this point. There's another bitcoin future contracts looming on the 18, we need to see how this CME offering could impact the current prices in a positive way.

Dunno about 20k.

Like 3 weeks ago nobody would believe, that BTC could cross 10k before Christmas. and now we are at 18k... . You really can't tell what's going to happen in net 48 hours on this market.

You really don't get it. Like 3 weeks ago, financial institutions offering bitcoin future contracts is all rumors. That's why the price keeps getting pushed on anticipation of the said offering. And now that CME offering started, we see just a few minor price swings and the price is slowly stabilizing.

~snip~
However, for me, LN and on-chain scaling are not enough to enable Bitcoin to be a truly global solution. A "sharding" solution like pegged sidechains, child-chains or extension blocks would be the piece of the puzzle that is still missing.

But as far as scalability is concern, LN should be good short term. What we need is a long term solution. For me LN it just like patch a band aid of sort. We need solution if we want bitcoin to be a true "P2P" as envisioned by Satoshi.
7072  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Will Change Everything on: December 12, 2017, 05:02:17 PM
We are entering in the new type of economy where price predictions are not possible any more because productivity and prosperity of humanity will rise to the new golden age level. Bitcoin will go to 1 million dollars in 2018 and is being used by central banks as a global stardard ledger - dollar will fade slowly those who buy now will become the new wealthy elite.

I really like your optimism that bitcoin can go to 1 million in 2018. But let's be real and honest here, there's no way that it can go that high in about a year. I would have believed if you says $100K, but 1 million not possible. Sorry.

Being used by central banks? Isn't it they are the first one to ban crypto's? How can they be using as global standard ledger? Again, I would have consider if they are going to apply blockchain technology. Bitcoin and Blockchain technology is different.

I also don't agree that dollar on any monetary unit will just fade in the face of the earth just like that. They will give a fight believed me and its not that easy to eliminate it.

I know that we all want to get rich through bitcoin, but it is easier said than done. I also want to see it touches 1 million in 2018 so that everyone here will be very wealthy, but it looks like you are out of range with your predictions here. Actually we can all call this a "dream".
7073  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Vs Bitcoin Cash on: December 11, 2017, 03:23:46 PM
I am still on bitcoins actually after I received few bitcoincash as a result of prevous forking I trade it immediately to bitcoins and I have know regret I made a right decision.

It doesn't makes any difference if you made the right or wrong decision. Its already free money anyways, so where is the wrong decision here? I think what you regret is not holding because the price is above $1500.

Not really near, it wants time. Certainly it's a groundbreakingrend among foreign currencies, but not the best at this moment. t
Well i will always choose bitcoin over than bitcoin cash, because bitcoin is really the best coin among the rest and the best cryptocurrency among the rest and no one will beat bitcoin, and holding bitcoin is more good than holding bitcoin cash because holding bitcoin can really make us rich in the future.
Currently, I will choose FIAT and USDT for my funds haha. I do not want to try high risk with any cryptocurrency after the price of Bitcoin reached $18,000. I am waiting the big dump of Bitcoin to buy again, I think it will happen soon.

But bitcoin didn't crash, however if you consider the price dropping to $13K a crash then you should have bought it at that price and enter the market once more. If you did they I don't think that he made the wrong decision dumping at $18K and re-buying at $13K because the price is above $16K once again.

Bitcoin Cash without any doubt is technologically better than Bitcoin. But so does many altcoins. But none has been able to beat bitcoin in adoption rate. Bitcoin still has huge demand even after this massive bullish rally. Bitcoin cash was indeed a better coin that bitcoin. But most of the traders or investors here are concerned with ROI and less risk. Bitcoin offers both. Nobody really cares about tech involved. So, for investment sake my vote goes to bitcoin.

Yes, their selling point is the big blocks they offered that can alleviate the current slow transaction high fees on bitcoin network. But that alone is not enough to swayed most investors to shift to them. There's a lot of money already poured into bitcoin market that its really hard to shift your coins because bitcoin is already a established name, if we want to call it. So bitcoin also gets my vote as far as investment (not p2p) is concern.
7074  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin will kill alt coins on: December 11, 2017, 02:53:56 PM
Bitcoin does not seem to stop growing

2018 Altcoin is dead

I have to disagree. Altcoins has a different market. There are a lot of hardcore altcoins investors who doesn't want to invest in bitcoin. So the market will not die down easily. And as much as investors flocking to the bitcoin ecosystem, there are also fresh blood being pump into the altcoin as well. Maybe bitcoin is really gaining a lot because of so much positive news around like the traditional financial institutions getting into the bitcoin picture.

But there are a lot of companies who are partnering themselves in altcoin like Microsoft, IBM and Accenture. And recently, Ethereum and IOTA is booming because of this news. So I doubt that altcoin will be dead, on the contrary it could boom next year.

Yup, most solid alt coins are holding their USD value pretty well even in this bullish BTC run.

I would expect another april-may level bullrun in alts during 2018 as mass adoption of them becomes prevalent.

If my memory serves me right. This year March - June is the best months for bitcoin. Ethereum hit its all-time-high during that time and a lot of altcoins also has a massive jump. Let's see next year though, but I'm counting that it will be the same.

Both bitcoin and altcoin need each other to survived, Its a perfect example of homogenous market.
7075  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BTC $100000 this 2018? on: December 10, 2017, 06:02:18 PM

What kind of question is this? Of course bitcoin can hit $100K but the question is when. You have to understand where Tony Vays, he is a huge investor of bitcoin, so it only make sense for him to create speculation that his investment will grow to millions or even billions in short span of time. So anything is possible in 2018, and if we are going to based on the current price, its really possible, its like x7 or x8 of the current price. Remember that bitcoin started this year at $700 and see what the current price is.

Quote
Based on the exponential growth rate of bitcoin regarding userbase, adoption, developer activity, trading volumes and market cap, a long-term price target of $100,000 is possible to achieve, especially if leading institutional and retail investors continue to endorse, embrace and adopt bitcoin.

CME and CBOE has started it, and Nasdaq in Q2 2018. If this trend will really continue as what predicted by most analyst, $100K is really achievable. Let's see how it goes though, its too early to call and we don't want to be excited just by reading the news. A lot can happen. The prediction can go either way. What matter is how will you deal with it, so it anyone of you believed in this predictions then its better to hold starting today.

I've been pulling my hair out trying to 'cash out'. My transaction has been stuck for 12 hours and I've already lost a good deal of cash waiting for it to go through.

If I drops rapidly over the next few days, I'm going to lose my mind.

Mempool is clogged with more than 200K still unconfirmed. I also have struck transactions for the last 6 hours and I'm too have lost a significant amount already. However, I don't think that it will drop rapidly in the next few days. This correction is bound to happen, actually I believe that it could have happen much earlier, but people keeps on buying that's why we didn't see any obvious signs that there have been correction already, until today. Don't lose your mind, it will still continue to grow in the next coming days because we haven't seen bitcoin future contracts yet, which is scheduled on 10 December.

Until then, hold and don't cash out yet and please don't panic with this correction, it would be a minor one and will not have significant dent on the current price. Price could settle around $18K before the actual offering happen on 10 of December. And then CME will start as well on 18 of December. So we still have this two news drives the price up until the end of the year.

7079  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: bitcoin $15000 on: December 08, 2017, 03:40:11 AM
Bitcoin has gone too crazy. I can't imagine it even if it is really happening now. In my local exchange, bitcoin supply is decreasing making the price to soar higher than those popular exchanges. Ugh, the more it climbs, the more I fear when it will fall. But, congratulations, 15,000$ has been achieved already.

Crazy and madness is the correct term. This madness has just started and we are now at $18K. Would you imagine that? And judging by the rate and how investors are buying it specially in the Asian market alone, I would call all of this irrational. What I'm afraid is that when investors buying on top prices then suddenly we see corrections, I'm sure that they will go panic selling causing the price to suffer. I hope I'm wrong with my logic here.

With this rate it will be 20000 dollars tomorrow.

Maybe, because I'm gonna repeat myself, we have seen irrational behavior from those investors who are buying in top price. And just maybe this behavior may still continue up until the first bitcoin future contracts starts on Dec 10 by CBOE and then Dec 11 by CME. Let's see how everything pans out though. And I don't think we can sustain all this madness.
7080  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are we gonna see Bitcoin fall back a bit for those who wish to invest? on: December 08, 2017, 02:59:06 AM
Bitcoin's current price is: $18.275.40 USD
that is off the charts!
Are we gonna experience a slight fallback to ~$12K or will this steady rise last long?
thanks for posting

Short term, of course a fall back will happen, its just the question on when, or even how can someone take it when they all buy at the top price. LOL. Its almost $18K looking at coinmarketcap, the price is really going up and its scary, at least to me. Can't really fathom that idea that we are going to break $20K this year because of all the bitcoin future contracts madness. It's really the main driver now. Dec 10 and Dec 18 are another milestones for bitcoin. So expect the price to continue around this date and maybe we will see if this is sustainable or not.

Just to answer the OP, I don't see any fall back up until Dec. 18. But if this bitcoin future contracts turns out to be not good to our ecosystem, I'm then expecting a slight fall back to ~$10K, but if investors keeps on buying because they don't want to miss out (FOMO), then we might hit more than $20K at the end of the year. So just continue to Hold, its the best and logical choice we have.
