7061  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin expectation end of 2018 on: January 09, 2018, 10:43:38 AM
A trader just made a million dollar bet that Bitcoin would be over $50k by the end of 2018  A large trader (or traders) just plopped down a million dollars betting that Bitcoin would hit $50k sometime in 2018.

1 million dollar is nothing for those big whales, they have tons of money to begin with and I'm sure that if even bitcoin didn't get to over $50K by the end of the year, they wouldn't budge a bit. But it we are going to pegged the price of bitcoin to lets say $10K, it would be x5 and it looks like its possible to be met within this year.

$ 20000 is the highest price to date. I think bitcoin is in need of stability and upgrading because the bitcoin trading speed is slow. If possible in 2018, the bitcoin will reach $ 30000.
By the end of this year, bitcoin will be at 20,000 dollars easily but if we talk about next year, bitcoin is going to cross 25, 000 dollars easily by the mid of 2018. By the end, it will be more than 30,000 dollars because the investment into bitcoin is increasing day by day and so are its prices. It is not a big deal for bitcoin to go beyond 30,000 dollars next year. I don’t think so it needs to be stable in prices at all.
I don’t really know, but I still think it will be possible. Just like in 2017, we never expected Bitcoin to reach up to that rate of $19000. Beginning of the year 2017, it was at the rate of $1000+, but within a short while, it started rising till it reached its highest and then went for a fall.

Yes, that's why I said that its really hittable. 2017 shows us how bitcoin to it, I know that its not safe to assume, but if you look at how bitcoin suddenly reaches all-time-highs last year, you will think that it will be easy for bitcoin to go to $50K or more this year. Maybe it can surpass it mid-year, when everyone started to renewed their interest on bitcoin and push its price to levels who never think is possible is short amount of time. Let's wait and see.
7062  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin price prediction on: January 09, 2018, 10:19:26 AM
it will go up and down in jan?
In current market scenario is fluctuating in this month. January is not a favour for Bitcoin price. It is decentralized cryptocurrency so whatever should happens in the market. I think it will reach 18k us dollar is possible at end of this month. In majority of the competitors are invest in Ethereum. So that coin only raise in current status. Bitcoin should be raise in slowly in market. But after April month it will reach above 25k us dollar.

If I'm not mistaken, last year, bitcoin was also stagnate around this time, but then again we can't compare last year to today's market because times have change then. I started to think that the price would start to pick up and the price are expected to rise when we touch $17K earlier this week, unfortunately it went sideways then down as of the moment.

So its really hard to predict how the market will goes, although it still dominates more than 30% of the market, there's couple of coins that are also rising very quick like Ethereum and Ripple. So for bitcoin to really remain as the top crypto's we need new sets of investors to flock and pour more money into the market. But the question is when? At least one positive news like Lightning Network implementation, as this presents the long awaited solution to the high fees and slow confirmation that we are facing right now.
7063  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: sold my ETH for ADA. on: January 09, 2018, 09:42:54 AM
was this a good or bad choice lol?

What the hell did you do that? Ethereum has been mooning lately and I don't know what the future of ADA is but its really a bad moved on our part. I have been lucky to get into Ethereum when it was below $500 although at that time the price is too steep but I take my chances and now its above $1K.

What did you find in ADA that would make you to decide to shift to it? Maybe you can share your thoughts so that we can see where you are coming from regarding your decision.

It doesn’t look like a healthy decision truth to be told. Ada is a risky coin to invest normally and selling your ethereum to invest in a risky coin is not good at all.

Its risky indeed, but I wanted to understand why the OP did it though. Maybe its a bad's decision on his end, but then again he see's something in ADA what we don't know. For know let's give me a slack.

Well jumping from coin to coin is never healthy process. Ether had even room to get bigger. But still ada isn't good coin. You shouldn't worry. I would suggest you to diversify more.

Exactly, it has still more room to grow this coming year. I'm holding on it for at least 6 months and see where it goes. I thought that the initial jump is purely a pump but when it hits all-time-high and surpassing 4 digit mark this year, its really hard to ignore and I'm happy was able to get in before it surges up until this moment.
7064  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it required to sync desktop wallet with currency network? on: January 09, 2018, 09:12:59 AM
Hi,

Is it required to sync desktop wallet with currency network. Reason for asking is that I am syncing for Dash and its taking too much space.

Thanks and regards,

Rizwan

Did you download the official Dash Wallet? If yes, it would need to sync and you have to download the entire Dash blockchain because its uses Dash masternodes.

I think you should have used the Dash Electrum Wallet. Similar to bitcoin Electrum wallet, its lightweight and easy to used and you don't need to download the full masternodes and setup is an instant just like its wallet counterpart in bitcoin.

Dash has a mobile wallet apps as well, much convenient if you are travelling although you need to be careful to backup everything because the keys are stored on the device.

And then there's a third party wallet like:

  • Exodus
- Which I personally used.
  • Jaxx
7065  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: McAfee Coin of the Week!!!! on: January 09, 2018, 08:04:20 AM
He definitely has an effect on the price of the coins....I was watching the market when his twitter feed got hacked, every time they mentioned a coin it spiked and once all his twitter followers realized he had been hacked the prices all took a pretty hefty dive. Probably best to do your own research and play the long game HODL....

Isn't he claimed that his twitter account has been hacked?  McAfee Warns of Advanced Hacking After Twitter Account Hijacking. So I don't know if we should believed everything from his twitter account if what he claims is true. I was also surprised to find out him making those bold predictions on a certain coin.

And it looks like he is now what we called manipulator as well. Previously, he only called bitcoin and his very bullish predictions on it. And even bet that he's gonna eat his disk on public if bitcoin didn't reach $500K in 3 years!. I haven't been following his tweets though, but it looks like he(hackers) has swayed a lot of investors on his favors, making millions in short amount of time.

So just be careful guys, watch every tweets coming from that account. You don't want to be trap as well if you follow every tweets as to what coins everyone should get in right now.
7066  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ripple coin on: January 07, 2018, 07:42:55 PM
Any idea about the prize of xrp at the end of 2018?
Will it be the best coin in this year? Shocked Shocked

Good question. Here's a link for the [XRP] Ripple Speculation. You can find a lot of good posters in there and what they think would the price will be.

Personally, they just started with less than a dollar last year and started to climb as high as $3.50 and now sits as the second top coins in terms of marketcap. And they continue to have a breakout year this 2018. But there's a lot of questions regarding its actual used because for now it is setup to work as a centralized coin. And gears toward banking system or financial system usage.

However, people are really looking for bitcoin alternatives because of the current scaling issue. So Ripple might one of the options that's why investors keeps pouring money on it.

I don't have any idea how or what would be the price of Ripple at the end of the year though. If you are a investors of course you want it to grow, but I'm skeptics about its current price, seems to be overvalued to me.
7067  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Someone is selling Electrum vulnerability script on: January 07, 2018, 05:58:32 PM
If you haven't updated already, you should do so immediately.

This was shared a few minutes ago on Twitter:  http://satoshibox.com/j5tc6hwdbp2tbs2z4h8uhcxs

I don't know if it actually works and I don't have 0.05 BTC to test it.  But I thought it may be useful for some developers to investigate.

This is to be expected. Usually, if the vulnerability was discovered in a large company's software, the trade would be on the dark net. In the case of electrum, the sale is being offered on twitter itself.
The basic safeguard most of us should take is store bitcoins for the long term on hardware wallets, or definitely not in a wallet which we use for daily use. Vulnerabilities may still be discovered, but are less likely.

Was really quite surprise that there's a vulnerability discovered on Electrum, I immediately moved my funds out as I was using a old version of Electrum. Luckily when I opened my wallet earlier, my funds is still intact but I can't moved it. I just shut it down immediately and just go online again after a few hours and successfully transferred my funds then.

This is to be expected though, usually once a vulnerability is found or exploits, it will spread like wildfires because everyone was in for the MONEY. Let's see how it goes though, I already moved everything but I haven't upgraded to the latest version. Thinking of moving to GreenAddress unless Electrum devs can tell the public that everything is fix already.

Edit: Vulnerabilities have been fixed already.
7068  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: About ICO on: January 07, 2018, 05:24:52 PM
Please show me how to evaluate a new ICO code. Newspapers say a lot, but I want to learn more from your experiences. Tks all.

Newspapers? You still reading newspapers up to now? Its already outdated, we have Internet. LOL.  Grin

Maybe what you mean Whitepaper? Of course, from my experience this is the first thing that you need to read. You must understand what the project is all about, like it is a unique project? Who are the teams behind? What are their roadmap? How much is the token is? Whitepaper should answer this kind of question. Another tip is always stays on the forum and see other people's evaluation of the ICO that you wanted to invest. Because there a lot of experienced investors or Legendary members like Gleb Gamow.

Just used Google my friend, you will find a lot of websites that talks about any incoming ICO and there review on it. I doubt anyone will spoon feed you with all the information. Its better you do your homework as well.
7069  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think it is good that ICOs keep coming frequently? on: January 07, 2018, 04:50:41 PM
I do not think it is good if too many coins keep coming in a short span of time. Many times people cannot uphold a coin for a long time and it ends up into oblivion. There are some scammers too who pop up at times.

I agree, there are really a lot of coins coming into the market that turns out to be shitcoins and just for pump and dump and then eventually lost in oblivion and ended up being de-listed by most trading platform.

These can be avoided if the introduction of a coin is regularized. However, this is not easy and it comes as a collective responsibility of our crypto community.

When there are way too many coins fighting to occupy space and success it may not be conducive to the digital market. The demand for only one existing coin may be so much that the others will have to be withdrawn from the race because there is equal distrust with all new coins.

And some of them turns into scam coins as well. That's why those who are legit are somewhat affected when a coins turn out to be a scam. And its really hard to filtered out which ICO will turn out to be a scam until its too late for all of us.

When a structure comes into existence and when there is a serious regulation in place then I feel doors will be automatically opened for new coins. There should be a balance and investment should be made after thorough analysis of the ICOs.

That's why China bans ICO in the first place. It really turns out to be circus out there because many ICO's are popping out with new unique technology to offer. Just a copy-cat of those who have existed before, however, people still invest on them and lost their funds. And China step in and decided that its time to ban and stop them for screwing and milking other people's money.
7070  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: should i buy ripple? on: January 07, 2018, 04:19:22 PM
That's what I am planning to do right now but I think I should wait for a little dip then afterwards I will buy and hold for a long time. I'm looking for a long term investment and Ripple is one of my choices. I see that it is the 2nd as of now and that's a great news for the holders of this coin. However, I don't think that this can replace bitcoin in the future as I always say no one can beat the original.

I have to say that I agree with you. The really best time to buy ripple when its really under a dollars but then BOOM!!, it suddenly rose drastically that we wouldn't thought that its possible to get more than $3 today. And some say that it can overtook Bitcoin. LOL. That pushing too much. We should be enjoying what Ripple bring us today because of the sudden pump.

As for buying, last 2 days it was on a dip even going below $3 so I hope you guys where able to get it and stash more. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to buy though, I just glance at the price and never had the chance. I just advise people to not really buy it at top price because I have seen a lot of altcoins that has been pump so hard but eventually dip. So those who have bought it at a high price is now trap.
7071  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New alt coin says it can beat Bitcoin on: January 07, 2018, 03:51:02 PM
Bitcoin will always remain a bitcoin, a monster in the crypto world. And altcoyins will take their place in the world of crypto currencies. I do not know which altcoyin can take the place of bitcoin.

New entrants are coming into this market
Many are dubious about Bitcoin because of exchange hacks, not eco friendly, etc
When new entrants out number old entrants its goodbye Bitcoin!

What you have tried to picture can really happen. There will be one day a bitcoin killer. However, I don't know how long will it take for another coin to overtake bitcoin its terms of its price or even its dominance its terms of marketcap. Ethereum last year around May-June tried and says that they will do it. But they succeed. Now, looks like XRP is also making a move of its own and challenging bitcoin. Let's see how it goes though, its too early to tell but for me, it can't overtook bitcoin, there's too much as stake. No one would like to see a coin that is said to be centralized and used it banking system to rule crypto's.

If there's a coin that can really topple bitcoin, its could be a new coin that hasn't been in the circulation yet. Its not yet born, so I don't think bitcoin can be stop in the next 10-20 years.
7072  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: bitcoin prices not rising! should we trade or hold? on: January 07, 2018, 03:14:14 PM
I am hundres percent of loyal bitcoiner, so i will buy back the bitcoin if i have enough capital to use to buy bitcoin.
Bitcoin had moved the price up starting last 2 days amd it will move up again. This year is just beginning. The market is still not so crazy. If the market become crazy then boom.
What do you mean by loyal bitcoiner, when it comes to trade all you look after is your capital and your profits and where does this loyal fan fits Tongue
I am certain that we will see another rally but not anytime soon,i am waiting for the lightening network to be implemented and then we will see a massive change in place because the entire troubles we have with bitcoin at the moment will go away for a while,so it is your call whether to hold bitcoin or to invest into other coins.

Actually the price of bitcoin is now attain the stable position. So we can expect the price of bitcoin will reach the old price of 19,000$ soon.So my suggestion for you is just hold it.You want to get some more additional dollars for your bitcoin, just hold it for two more days .You will get some more dollars for sure.Avoid of this type of panic selling.

Bitcoin is trading at almost $17K a pop, and the past couple of days, it look likes its holding it ground after being on a bearish and sideways trend last month specially before Christmas. And we have heave a sign of relief after seeing it moving upward. I thought that we are consolidating before marching for another bull run. But it didn't happen, so I guess we need to wait and have patience.

I didn't dump my coins when the price get to bottom $12K-$13K, I have patience and the best option is just to hodl on it. I must say that I'm also a loyal bitcoiner, however, I learn how to trade in the altcoins specially before their all become this boomed. So I guess I'm lucky and have profited from the altcoins pump-and-dump. And really learn how to diversify my portfolio and took advantage of every opportunity to earn if bitcoin is down.
7073  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin price is going up? on: January 03, 2018, 10:17:47 PM
Kindly share your thoughts guys.  Is this the right time to buy And hold or not?  Causes  i have doubts maybe this is another bull trap Again . I need Some suggestions about this rising moment Of bitcoin Guys.

how long you plan for holding. price now is good for short term holding or trading.
bitcoin will growing next 6 months so that start buying today
Disagreed, I personally think that Bitcoin's price will drop in the coming month. Just like every other time the price skyrocketed, it went down to support level and after that it went skyrocketing again.

How can you be so sure that the price of bitcoin would drop? Aside for the high fees and slow confirmation, what do you think of others factors that will sway away investors in pouring their cash to the ecosystem?

We are still in the support levels isn't it? In my view, this should be the correct price of bitcoin around $13k-$15k. What we have seen in December is lots of irrational buyers who are buying at top price of $18k-$19k because of all the bitcoin future contracts offering from financial institutions.

However, since the market corrected itself and somewhat the price "stabilizes", I do think of only one attribute that can really push the price of bitcoin, Lightning Network. Let's see how it goes, no timeline from dev yet but I have read that the test is successful.

7076  Economy / Speculation / Re: 16.5K will be the major resistance for BTC ? on: December 27, 2017, 05:29:51 PM
And  who is this Kuang Ren with such a wisdom?  Huh

Sounds like another player in Mortal Kombat? LOL.

16.5 will be breaking easily at the end of 2017, even a blind can see that every one is waiting for 2018 to make a new jump in price and knowing that will make smarter investors begin to buy just before 2018. Its now sitting at 16300 and its still holiday, wait till live is back to normal and cash flow hit the exchanges again.

In my view, $16K is another barrier that we need to overcome now, everytime we reach that price, lots of dump followed immediately, I guess investors really do think that its the been time to dump their coins. However, the dumping opens up another perfect opportunity for others to buy bitcoin once more. So its gonna be a tug of war, up until the end of the year. 2018 will usher a big boost on bitcoin, specially that there's a looming fork + Lightning Network.

Let's see, for me getting $10K is already good to close out the year, moving to $13k-$16K will be a added bonus. And I'm excited what 2018 could bring to the table I'm one of those who thinks that this is another crazy year for all of us.
7077  Economy / Economics / Re: What you think about bitcoin and other cryptos in 2018 on: December 22, 2017, 07:15:01 AM
Hi everyone, so what's your thoughts ?

Let put things in perspective first:

1. 2017 is a breakthrough year for bitcoin and crypto's. Beginning of the year, no one knows what crypto is. The only thing we hear from media is all negatives. Bitcoin is used by criminals to buy drugs etc.. etc..

2. Sept 2017, China break away after years of being the lead. Bankers attacks, bashes bitcoin and calling it a bubble.

3. Institutional investors came into the picture, offering bitcoin future contracts.

4. Bitcoin prices grows to astronomical level. Almost touching $20K from $700 beginning of 2017.

So 2017 is a big leap towards crypto gaining popularity. So I have no doubt that its only beginning. 2018 will be huge, people talking about crypto's, lots of them what to buy, altcoins having a renewed interest from big companies such as Microsoft, IBM and other sectors are well. What I'm saying is that the trend will continue in 2018. There might be challenges and bumps along the road, but it can be overcome leading to flourishing and another successful year.

Something weird definitely happened last night. Notice it once again happened during mempool spam:

https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#30d

and during readjustment of the blocks:

https://fork.lol/

Couple with strange twitter action:

http://bitcoinist.com/cnbc-collusion-roger-ver-bcash/

I hope they find out really what happened. EVERY time that block readjustments happen on Bitcoin, something shady goes on with BCH.

Agreed. Its a fair assessment that I have noticed as well. It looks like they have waited until the last difficulty adjustment before making their moved. And then social media went frenzy over it. You will find a lot specially in the twitter sphere. Even CNBC is clearly on the payroll. So clearly its another well planned attack again.

They are really targeting newbie traders here. Inexperience traders who will buy anything they think they profit, but in the end they are the real loses here.

The price of BCH went as high as 70%. The picture clearly shows its a manipulation. I hope newbie traders will have the common sense to get out while they can, instead of being trap in the next few days when all of this crumbles once more.
7080  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC recovering on: December 20, 2017, 08:31:33 PM
As it was not an attack on BTC (any BCH pump seems very suspicious for me) that can be concidered as a some kind of correction after a pretty big growth. I'm sure that it is pretty good and it will help from  the psychological side: a lot of people are waiting for the end of this year to see the final BTC rate and they can easily  dump it especially if it is uncorrected. If bitcoin will continue its slow growth it will just make the situation more calm.

Both things converged: A correction was due naturally, as we were under a massive bullrun, and the BCash manipulation with the mempool spam and the Coinbase bribing to list it right during the difficulty adjustment to create as much confusion as possible, also was a way to create a dip while dump a very pumped BCash. The whales just want to accumulate as much BTC as possible, since they are scared that LN is working, and will solve the scaling issue once and for all.

Spot on mate. All this points to the Jihan Wu/Roger Ver faces all over this attack. And damn, many fall for this trap because the price is suddenly pump to a point that its unbelievable. But I'm sorry, I'm not one of them. I won't fall because we already knew who is behind this manipulation. But I like the timing though, They are really doing everything on their part so really disrupt and create a lot of negativity around bitcoin.

I don't know if they are scared of Lightning Network, but one things for sure. They will do anything at any cost, including shills, paid media articles even CNBC is on into it:

https://twitter.com/CNBCFastMoney/status/943313327249330177

And this artificial pump will end up soon. Just watch and all the jokes and meme's will explode in the next couple of days. I'm betting on that.  Grin Grin Grin
