721  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 31, 2013, 05:20:57 PM
There are extras for replacements.  He'll most likely have to replace some from this group buy, so he probably won't end up with 19 extra in all.  Maybe Arklan can mine with them to a single address and then at 6 months, distribute the earnings (minus a hosting fee to Arklan) proportionally to everyone in the group, and keep them for himself at that point.

As for the "extra" units.  They should be auctioned off internally and the proceeds should be split among all of us in proportion to how many we ordered out of the total.  I hate lotteries... random shit sucks.
My vote is with them belonging to arklan, to do with as he pleases.  Think what you will of that, but it's my vote for now.
+1 to them going to Arklan (after 6 months).

2nd choice is auction.

Hate lottery option.

If the 5 are over and above what is reasonable to have for guarantee work, I say give them to him now so he can sell them for a good price (or I should say, these absurd price which likely won't last for long.)

Seems to me that he's the guy who ran this show so it's legally and ethically right that the units are his outright.  We would not even know about them but for his high level of communications and transparency.

My thoughts exactly.  He could have just kept quiet and no one would have known.  While I like the idea of getting an extra one for free, I really think arklan deserves the extras.

Thanks, friedcat !

That's fucking gorgeous.

oh i got plenty to ship - just sent 3 coin to bitstamp, hence the .34 left. it's up to you guys who feel slighted how much i need i suppose.

Hell no I don't feel slighted at all.. you have gone above and beyond to be helpful and keep all of us informed.. it is this petty ass whiny mothers who can't do anything but bitch when someone wants to be a nice guy and offer his time, effort and obviously some of his own money/BTC to try to do the right thing that really gets my panties in a wad!  WTF you made a small mistake with well over 500 items to keep track of almost 100 orders to get packed and mailed and people wanna bitch... hell I say hold his shit for another week.. your ankle hurts... your out of gas.... you forgot... jesus people GROW THE FUCK UP!

You would be quite accurate in this sentiment, except you are overlooking the fact that he was compensated to do this work.

Delays happen man.  It's the way of business.  He's offering to compensate for lost revenue.  If he makes up that couple of days of mining with bitcoin, what exactly are you out?
725  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 30, 2013, 06:58:40 PM
Just curious - do you have a fan pointed at these?

Fans pointing at them, yes. Additionally, room ambient is 75F.

Ditto; mine is barely warm to the touch.
726  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [ASIC] Avalon Chip Group Purchase : Idaho, USA : 8810 Chips Remaining on: May 30, 2013, 06:44:48 PM

I'm saving that post for shipping updates.

Garr255, do you have assembly plans?

And yes I do have assembly plans, but I will not be announcing them formally here until I have firm(er) estimates. Currently I'm almost positive we will be able to assemble 64 chip boards for less than $200 each.

Are you only planning on 64 chip boards?  How about the K16?
727  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [ASIC] Avalon Chip Group Purchase : Idaho, USA : 8810 Chips Remaining on: May 30, 2013, 04:55:59 PM
[Reserved]

What's this about?

Possibly stupid question but how 'early' is this order compared to the different group order programs that have been open in other threads. Do you have an estimate on 'where in line' you are as far as delivery from Avalon?

Of course, this order is ahead of all who haven't purchased chips yet, therefore we will be ahead of subsequent "batches" of other group-buys.

Cheers,
Garrett

Got an order date to go with that number? Proof of purchase? Are you accepting escrow?

This is almost an exact copy/paste of Steamboat's group buy thread. Something feels 'off'...

He addresses the copy/paste issue in OP:

Chips Remaining: 8,810

Hey all, I've purchased a batch of 10,000 Avalon chips (#10429) and will be reselling them here. This will work similarly to the other group-buys, and I hope to make this as competitive and transparent as possible.

Much of this post has been taken from other group-buy threads which I believe do a good job at running efficiently.

A screenshot I posted to the CGMiner thread, of a bunch of these baby's running in one of my systems.

Curious about the amount of HW errors, but if that's "normal"... then ... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I get about 2.5 HW errors an hour on average.  Can we confirm this is acceptable?
729  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 29, 2013, 12:31:55 AM
And we're hashing!

Arklan, you rock.

I think rye is just setting up escrow so he can accept taking funds now, I'm pretty sure he's getting ready as bkkcoins is finishing up his prototype boards within 4-5 days. I'm pretty sure once the firm price points come in he will get lots of orders from all of the West Coast.

East coast too; I'm in both of ryepdx's group buys so I figure it'll be less mess if I just follow ryepdx through assembly.

So what are we doing with this?  Is this a preliminary setup?  Are you accepting payment already?  Are the prices on the OP set?
733  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [TENTATIVE] - Stumptown Miners - Avalon PCB Assembly - West Coast USA on: May 28, 2013, 12:15:54 AM
Interested in 2 k16's and 4 k1's (assuming all chips are good).  I'm also in ragingazn's first batch and steamboat's 3rd batch, so that works out perfect. Smiley
734  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Ann]Purchase ASIC chips and assembly now: 2,692 chips left. on: May 26, 2013, 11:22:02 PM
You mentioned local pick-up in Florida, if this is correct, which part of Florida.

Hopefully near Fort Lauderdale?

If you are close I will stop by and say hi, with cash/BTC in hand

South Florida, specifically the West Palm Beach area.

Chips available: 2,692
Update: 5/25/2013

Customers which have already made a purchase will have the option to purchase additional chips for the original price of BTC0.86, so long as there are chips available.
In the event the reserve is diminished, customers with an incomplete amount of chips may opt to be refunded BTC0.0939 for the remainder.

I assume typo?  BTC.086 right?

Edited to add:  Also, if I ordered in batch 3, and decide now to buy 2 extra chips to mitigate bad chip risk, do I buy from batch 4?  How does that affect me?

Yes, the update now reflects the correct amount. Thank you.

Each batch has a small reserve for this purpose. Additional chips may be purchased from this reserve, in an amount up to 5% of the original purchase, and dependent on chip availability.

I've got 16 chips and would like to get an extra just in case.  5% = .8 chips. Round up?

All purchases received, recorded, and replied.

I would like to thank those of you who have taken the time to answer questions. I would like to answer each of you immediately, but one of the ways I'm keeping costs low is by running a skeleton crew with low overhead, and have to process emails, pm's, and questions in this thread as batches.

Thanks steamboat; appreciate the attentiveness.  A single daily update is more than enough, especially since no one has chips in hand yet.
737  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Ann]Purchase ASIC chips and assembly now: Batch 3 ordered, 1,936 chips left. on: May 24, 2013, 03:06:41 PM
Hey steamboat, I remember there being some mention of K1 boards being sourced.  Any information on that?  I'd buy a few more chips if there were plans for the K1.  Those are easier to produce en masse right?  Less stuff on the board?  No PSU required?

Depends on what you mean. In terms of density, ie; hashing power/production time, almost certainly not. You have to produce sixteen K1 boards to equal one K16.

I see.  That makes sense.

For populating boards and getting these chips out the door, the K16 is the best compromise between hashing power, production time, and not pricing many people out of the mkt.

The K1 is more of a hobbyist toy, and the design is simple enough that most hobbyists can probably pull off their own assembly.

Makes sense; I'm just not that into moving tiny things around, my hands are too fat.

If not, there are a few threads by people who are intending to sell complete K1 units, chips included.

I'll take a look around.  Thanks.
738  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 24, 2013, 02:06:56 PM

I wonder if you make any sales at this price... That's almost 100% markup! Smiley  Good luck.

Not really.  I had to sell AM shares to buy these.  The shares have doubled in price since I sold them.  At 399 USD, I'll probably be about even.  I'm going to take all the proceeds and put them right back into more shares next week.  Unless of course there is another group buy...

My guess would be that these suckers are going to be sold for a shocking sum.

Shit, you already have bids on 3 of them.  Man I should have bought like 10.

LOL.  I guess you didn't specify which hand.

I didn't want to lie.  That would be wrong.

If anybody is interested, that auction has been up for only 12 hours and has 279 views and 18 watchers.

I wonder if you make any sales at this price... That's almost 100% markup! Smiley  Good luck.
