7341  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Transaction still unconfirmed after 3 days on: February 11, 2021, 05:17:38 PM
You should be able to increase the fee of your transaction by right-clicking on it in the "History" tab and selecting "Bump fee". Keep in mind that the extra fee will be deducted either from your change output or directly from the amount you sent if you don't have any change. If you are running the latest version of Electrum then you should also see "Cancel tx" option which will automatically double-spend the transaction back to you with a much higher fee. The first option will be probably better in your case. What fee does your transaction pay?
I think providing the transaction hash (txid) will be appropriate, or Sauaba should track the transaction on blockchain explorer, because if the transaction is not supporting replace-by-fee, he will not be able to neither cancel the transaction not pump the fee. Or, maybe his wallet has UTXO from the transaction which he can be used to perform CPFP.
7342  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Best bitcoin wallets on 2021 [Andriod] on: February 11, 2021, 03:03:20 PM
As long as you also warn people that Coinomi is a 100% closed source wallet that has been acting shady in the past and we don't know what they do to the users' mnemonics and other information even today.
Also on the lists are some other close source wallets. Like Trust, Exodus and including the Coinomi. Yes, it is highly not recommended to use close source wallets as their source code is not available to the public, we do not know what vulnerabilities running under while using them.

That's just because Electrum has far more users than any other wallet, so there are a lot more targets.
I see this point highly valid. Also because the source code is not closed one, if it is available to the public to develop but the bad people will use the means to steal it, that is why close source wallets are not having so many fakes like open source, but close source is not still recommended which makes your point valid, because hackers like what most people are using, to be able to put malacious codes into theirs and steal Bitcoin from users.

But, there is one thing for certain, to know the fake ones is not hard, while it is recommended to only download electrum from electrum official site.
7343  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain info RBF on: February 11, 2021, 02:17:47 PM
<...>
Transactions sent on blockchain.info wallet do not support RBF. Which means, the transaction can not be cancelled, and neither can it be reversed. Try to use electrum, you can turn on the RBF for cases like this, provided if the transaction has not been confirmed, because if the transaction is confirmed, even RBF will not be able to reverse it into your wallet.
7344  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum 4.0.9 wont open in Windows 8.1. on: February 11, 2021, 02:01:16 PM
Im confused. Isnt that one for Android users?

For windows
For Standalone Executable, it is .exe
For Windows Installer, it is setup.exe
7345  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum 4.0.9 wont open in Windows 8.1. on: February 11, 2021, 01:24:52 PM
It supposed to work perfectly, there is nothing wrong with the electrum wallet if you downloaded it from electrum.org and verified it. Hope you downloaded it from electrum.org?  Did you dwnload the Windows Installer version for easy access?

What to do to get a working version?
For easy access, the Windows Installer version is the best for windows, it will automatically be installed on your computer.
7346  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: What's up with Coinomi fees? on: February 11, 2021, 10:50:10 AM
you can safely reduce the recommended fees a little if you think they are too expensive.
those algorithm to predict fees are very conservatives and always overestimate
Only what I do not like about Coinomi is that it a wallet that has open source codes before that turned to close source. Aside that, it is a good wallet, but I can not recommend anyone to use close source wallet though. About fee estimation, Coinomi fee estimation is not overestimated, I checked fee some estimator sites now and I saw it to almost the same as Coinomi fee estimator. But, someone can still have the option to even reduce the satoshi/vbyte if he wants or wait for mempool to be less congestor for low fee.
7347  Other / Meta / Re: Good enough of a system? theorycrafting on: February 11, 2021, 10:35:37 AM
So i was going through that "This shitty Merit System has ruined Bitcointalk and made it like Facebook" thread and it actually made me think  about this whole merit thing.
You are totally wrong to comment about the merit system to be shitty, and also know that merit system only contribute to the progress of this forum. You were not among the members before 2018 when merit system has never been implemented, just a single person can have as many as possible accounts as I was told. The merit system corrected that in a way having multiple accounts will be difficult to maintain. Only what I have seen is that the merit system contribute to the progress of quality posts on this forum. This forum is just still one of the best, I hope you to see that rather than critizimg the merit system which is still good.

Well since most of the people either don't have merit or simply never think about it (I completely forget about the whole merit thing even  when I come across a good post) and then you get dedicated people as merit sources and threads that ask for good posts to merit them,  doesn't really sound like a master plan. Easy and reliable? Sure, but it's not intuitive tbf.
The fact is that good posts are still receiving merits, if your posts are not receiving merit and you want it to receive merits, then work hard, double your hustle, learn about Bitcoin especially, and also learn about other cryptocurrencies. There are many people that have quality accounts and build it very fast with their quality posts.

1. You have " + " and " - " on every post. If you're in the " + " zone it shows the green number of upvotes next to it, if you're in the " - " zone you have a red number next to it.
This should not be suggested, negative as you meant above will not do this forum, I will tell you that most new members that are not good in posting yet will have most of the  negative and this will make newbie accounts stuck and not growing. There were many mistakes I made during my newbie days, but later correcting it from what ranked members are posting and from what I learned. Better we just leave the merit system positive as it is. Maybe not working for you, but it helps this forum.

So if someone posts something really useless or copy/pasta reply, he can get downvoted enough not to lose merit but to think about what's he posting next time. Like a small slap on the wrist.
This will make this forum more good for ranked members while making it hard for newbies to grow because they are not yet well conversant with posting on this forum.

Would you add something or maybe have a whole different idea? I'd love to hear thoughts on this and other "solutions" just for the sake of looking at a problem from different angles and getting a different approach on problems overall.
I do not have any suggestion, because the merit system is still working good in such a way you can easily identity good posters from the shitposters. This forum is growing good and full of quality posts while the shitposters are either not ranking up or later banned.
7348  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Desktop Wallet on: February 11, 2021, 12:05:47 AM
Inaddtion to what others have said, the portable version is flexible and easy to use on third party computers but if security is your top priority it better you use the non-portable version of the wallet because the portable is compared with a web wallet which is vulnerable to viruses and keylogger attack and footing your message the BTC will use for long term shortage.
The portable version is not like a web wallet, it is a desktop wallet also. The only difference is that people can have it on a flash drive, this can result to it being installed on third party computers.

Is it ok do use portable version?
I will advice you to go for windows installer so far you want to download and open it on your window computer directly. Windows installer
will install electrum into program files.

Window installer, your computer will be able to download the electrum and install inself which you can open directly.
Standalone executable, your computer will be able to download the wallet but you will need to install it manually.
Portable, your computer will be able to download the  electrum wallet on local folder which you can send to a flash drive.
7351  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Desktop Wallet on: February 10, 2021, 08:53:44 PM
Why do you not just go for electrum wallet, you can download it from electrum.org. and make sure you verify it. Electrum wallet is a good wallet, but it is a desktop wallet, make sure your computer is safe and free of malware which can compromse your wallet. Also, make sure you safe the seed phrase and do proper backup that will not be accessible to attackers and not vulnerable to damages.
7352  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Destroying Bitcoin on: February 10, 2021, 07:59:06 PM
The big companies are buying bitcoin and manipulating the market.
Bitcoin market is hard to be manipulated, unlike the altcoins. This can be a suitable statement for many altcoins but not for bitcoin. Bitcoin with a marketcap of almost a trillion dollars is getting stronger than to just be manipulated. Also know that many institutions are the ones getting into Bitcoin investment more, these companies knows what are required in a way bitcoin price will not be manipulated the way you think.

imagine that you think that crypto is your enemy, if you want to destroy it, first you will buy as much as you can, you will make the market goes up, after you will sell all coins and you will destroy the market, take money of small investors and make them hate the crypto.
Bitcoin is not an enemy to anyone, if you like, you can buy it, it is not by force, and people that are getting into it know about the volatility before getting into crypto buying and selling. Know that as many as possible altcoins can collapse, like the Chainlink that 80% of its present circualtion are on addresses controlled only by 125 wallets, Bitcoin is not the case, it is widely and well distributed in a way such manipulation can not happen. Also this can happen to many pumped coins that will later be dumped but Bitcoin is just a perfect crypto asset that can be manipulated like that.

when i saw a company buy big amount of coin, i afraid.
It is only the start of Bitcoin getting institutionsized, you should not be afraid. But, knowing about the market very well before investing.

Hhampuz, thanks for the time I spent under some of the campaigns you have managed before and that you are still managing, being my campaign manager makes many of the time spent here meaningful. I am leaving for bestchange, I really appreciate your efforts towards providing campaigns members can join on this forum.
7354  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor Wallet Update on: February 10, 2021, 06:20:27 PM
I like the lasted updates by Trezor, especially the replace-by-fee feature, and I like how it is well explained when to use it, although not new to Bitcointalk members, but will be new to many Trezor users. Also is the ability to add new ERC20 tokens manully and also able to edit the gas fee. Updating this to be able to make RBF transactions will really worth it, although organisations may not want zero confirmation for RBF transactions becaus such transactions can be double-spent, but it can help to increase the chance of transactions getting confirmed in time.
7355  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Purchased bitcoin cash by mistake and sent to electrum on: February 10, 2021, 01:21:55 PM
<...>
Which means if boomtown1234 sent the bitcoin to private key wallet that of multisig, nested segwit or legacy address, he will still be able to recover back his bitcoin cash fund, but will not able to if sent to native segwit? For just to be clearer.
7356  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Purchased bitcoin cash by mistake and sent to electrum on: February 10, 2021, 12:49:33 PM
<...>
I think the bitcoin address type matters in this case. I have read in a thread on this forum that only private key to bitcoin with legacy addresses (addresses that start from 1) can be used for such Bitcoin cash recovery.

If this is true, it will be good for boomtown1234 to let us know if the address is legacy or not. Legacy addresses starts from 1.
7357  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nigeria CBN false statements about Bitcoin on: February 10, 2021, 10:21:47 AM
The problem with their misleading information is that it is mixed with a hint of the truth which is that Boko Haram is a dangerous organization that are using money to funnel terrorist funds, we know that they are trying to find a way but we don't know if they are really using cryptocurrency to funnel those money to buy weapons. The problem with this one misinformation is that they mix fear with the information so people doesn't have a time to process the information or worse they do not even fact-check it. Good thing that P2P and OTC is still alive, I hope that this problem with Nigeria against cryptocurrency gets resolved.
All are lies, they can claim that very possible terroists can make use of cryptocurrencies but as of now, we Nigerians know how the fiat are so weak to allow terroists to make use of fiat. They use fiats for their operation, they have sponsors which make use of fiat and from US SEC, it is clear how we cryptocurrencies  are not that used in terrorism the way people are thinking of. Boko Haram has been existing before the creation of bitcoin, so do all other high ranked terroists. Fiats are used also for money laundering and many other criminal activities.
7358  Other / Beginners & Help / To be careful of the noncustododial wallet we are using these days on: February 10, 2021, 09:21:02 AM
Making use private key wallet makes bitcoin users to be able to have full control over their Bitcoin, while custodial means have been ways another party can have the full control not bitcoin users, that is why experienced Bitcoin users do discourage custodial wallets. But, it is now happening today in many close source wallet how they are using a different diravation part to derive seed phrase and private keys thereby misleading people. It really surprised me how some wallets are able to generate seed phrase and private key in which has no derivation paths linked to open source ones. There was a thread lately on this forum about someone that accidentally sent his binance USDt to Abra's Bitcoin address

This Was the first reply on the thread:
As far as I know there's no wallet where you can simply just import your Abra wallet's private keys and you would be able to access your funds. If my memory serves me right Abra's CEO said in an interview in the past that if it's the case that they needed to suddenly shut down, they would release a custom made wallet where people could import their Abra wallet's private keys.

I later had to download the Abra's wallet for experimental purpose, and the wallet generated me 13 word seed phrase and a single Bitcoin address.

Seed phrase
at mention country giant rice boss people bid asset boring midnight wise begin

One P2PKH (legacy) address
19VT5sfnoQRnnzuJum5QkghN3oPJdE3DVc

The conversion between the person and yogg later posted by the victim on the same thread

I noticed from the conversation that at will begin every of the seed phrase, so I too excluded it, making it 12 word seed phrase that can work on iamcoleman, I inputed the seed phrase excluding at.

Seed seed phrase was valid, think there will be a way to extract out the privacy key of the legacy address above which is all what the user will have to do about his wallet seed phrase to generate the private key to his Abra's wallet legacy address and import it on wallet that support USDt diravation path, this will make him be able to access his USDt.

But, shockingly, the m/44'/0'/0'/0/0 derivation path is having another address which you can see in the image below, not Abra's wallet address.

Which means only Abra can provide support, but many people might be thinking they are having BIP39 supported wallet with Abra and many other wallet of the same category, but it is not so. If so, it is having another derivation path that is entirely different from the address Abra's wallet is generating. I checked the first 200 addresses and see nothing the same as the address, while in all wallet seed phrase I have used before to generate the private key, the first address generated by the wallet will have the derivation path for m/44'/0'/0'/0/0 while the second address will have m/44'/0'/0'/0/1 and so on.

This led to migs360 the victim to have lost his USDt to this dubious wallet provider.

Advice
1. Never use close source wallet, use open source wallet like mycelium which truly support BIP39 derivation path and electrum which although do not use BIP39 to generate their seed phrase, but all BIP39 seed phrase can still work on electrum but also electrum has a tool to extract private keys which can still be used for such purpose.

2. Use recommendable open source wallet from sites like Bitcointalk.

3. Make sure you can extract the private key of the seed phrase of the wallet you are using like electrum and BIP39 wallets. Make sure it has the derivation path to the addresses the wallet generate using open source tools.

Note: Never reveal your seed phrase or private key to anyone, or all your bitcoin will be stolen by hackers.
7359  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Nigeria CBN false statements about Bitcoin on: February 10, 2021, 07:36:16 AM
There was a topic I posted recently, that Nigeria government did not ban bitcoin or any other crypto asset that the CBN do. In the link were false statements about bitcoin generally which are not true. I charted with a friend recently, my friend told me that CBN said cryptocurrencies are used to fund Boko Haram, one of the deadliest terrorists in the world located in Nigeria majorly. The CBN really is misleading some people which do not know much about Bitcoin.

Quote
“Due to the fact that cryptocurrencies are largely speculative, anonymous and untraceable they are increasingly being used for money laundering, terrorism financing and other criminal activities.
Is Bitcoin anonymous? No. Many cryptocurrencies  have open ledger and are termed pseudonymous. Only few like monero, dash and zcash are anonymous because they do not have open ledger. While these anonymous cryptocurrencies take less than 5% of the crypto assets marketcap.

Is Bitcoin untraceable? Bitcoin and many other cryptocurrencies have open ledger and can be used to trace Bitcoin transactions only that the transaction can not be linked to individuals, but CBN just do not research about cryptocurrencies appropriately and educating people wrongly.

Quote
“Small retail and unsophisticated investors also face high probability of loss due to the high volatility of the investments in recent times.
I see this very wrong, first of all, people should know that bitcoin should be the most trusted cryptocurrency in the world but even altcoins since last year December have increased significantly in price. I do not know where they get their false information misinforming people about bitcoin and other crypto assets.

Quote
“In light of these realities and analyses, the CBN has no comfort in cryptocurrencies at this time and will continue to do all within its regulatory powers to educate Nigerians to desist from its use and protect our financial system from activities of fraudsters and speculators.”
People that do not know about bitcoin, I wonder how CBN have used wrong statements about Bitcoin to misinform people.

You can provide link to the above quote. I can't see it included in the body of the CBN letter on your post.
This is the link, I will also include it to the above quote for the authenticity of the post and of this thread generally.
