7361  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mining Requirements on: April 23, 2015, 10:06:33 AM
Hello,
recenty i got 64gb dedicated server
i want to run mining on that . is it possible ??

any requirements ?

Useless. Run a full node maybe. Google it.
If you are going to run a full node on a high end dedicated server, my advice is: don't do it.

Full nodes usually don't need high bandwidth nor specs to run on. I ran mine on a 6 core AMD for a month and it barely used 20% of all the cores. The bandwidth was around 200gb too. Reselling it would be a much wiser choice as it could yield more profit and possibly pay it off.
7362  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Cost of Bitcointalk Accounts. on: April 23, 2015, 09:58:37 AM
Wow! i never knew these accounts can be sold .
What will be the cost of mine if i try to sell it ? Just curious , don't really want to sell it!
theres no point in selling it if you are active on forum you can get even more money from sig campaigns

There is if you are farming accounts for sale. I heard some users are doing it. One guy that was banned for it had 50 if I recall.

Banned for what? As far as i know having multiple accounts is not against the forum rules unless he made shitty and spammy posts
farming account for selling it in the future is not against forum rules, but that user had been banned because all of his accounts spamming in the forums with nonsense posts
and moderator find out that he has over 50 accounts
that's crazy thing in my opinion Cheesy

No doubt, he has to make 50 posts per day to maintain activity on all of them, in 1 day seems not too much but in 1 month thats 1500 posts wich is an incredible amount of posts, its impossible to make good posts with that amount, or was he using bots? Because lately theres people that has been caught using bots.

Wrong, he have to post once per two weeks activity period on each account to maintain a steady gain of 14 activity. He can then post later on to claim all of them. 1500 post is easy to achieve if you have the time and the patience to do so. Hilariousandco is a good example. He doesn't spam but he makes a high amount of constructive posts per month.
7363  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How I can earn from the Signature campaign? on: April 23, 2015, 09:55:30 AM
now that i think about it, how 777coin(and others newbies campaign) deal with multi account? they are in a bad position like all the other newbies campagin, because making newbie account it's basically a joke

one could made 10-20 newbie account in a sec(you don't need to rank up) and start spamming with the 777coin sig...i think there are already member that are doing this

I think how they deal with it is paying very low prices. They have done a good job cornering most beginner signatures.   I would guess a lot of theirs are multi-account.

But also forum moderates (it might take staff level) can look at IP I cannot remember.  Assuming they don't use a diffferent IP for each account low quality post, and IP chances are forum staff can catch some.
The staff will notice that there are the same ip but different account so they cannot do that. And i think that 777coins must high their rates because we do a good job i get small payment.
Theymos once told me that IPs weren't logged. I'm not sure if thats accurate now though. Moderators don't moderate multi accounts unless they spams alot. If you sign up with a signature campaign for both of the account and you spam a lot, both accounts would probably be banned.
7364  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Can I trust BTC exchanges? on: April 23, 2015, 09:53:28 AM
you can trust only the legit exchanges, bitstamp is recommended, they never fail.
Many exchanges were legit before they were shutdown. And your claim about Bitstamp being resistant to failures is false[1]. No exchanges can be trusted well enough. Just take precautions such as depositing only when you want to trade.

Download different wallet and problem solved. I have MultiBit and I must say it's really good thing.
So you are implying that if I am in need of a $10 note and the shops only accept that, I should just get 10x $1 coins? It doesn't solve the problem if OP decides to use the features in bitcoin core. More importantly, Bitcoin Core offers much more security assurance and privacy over SPV clients. Also, Bitcoin Core allows users to setup a node.
7366  Economy / Gambling / Re: Primedice.com | Most Popular & Trusted Bitcoin Game | Huge Community | Free BTC on: April 19, 2015, 07:37:00 AM
I wouldnt recommend the 90% route lol.

I hit like 90`s 3 times in a row before.

well i tried it and its give more loss than profit...each 10 rolls its always coming the red..

so now i never use 90% again,, the risk and reward ratio not too good..

Playing at 90% sucks like anything..

House edge will kill you Embarrassed
It isn't about the house edge it is about the probability of you recovering. To get 0.1BTC from 1BTC, you need to bet at 1.1x. You can easily lose them all in your first bet if you are unlucky. If you bet 0.1BTC at 2x, you will get the same amount of profit but if you lose, you can easily double it and the next one can be a win.

I'm not kidding about losing huge on the first low risk low winnings bet. It has happened before but on another dice site.

7368  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi: "You should never delete a wallet" on: April 18, 2015, 05:21:17 PM
Wow,this is a surprise to me...
I have always thought that satoshi may have deleted some of his wallet, because he may think that having so many bitcoins may be dangerous for the own bitcoin
If he wants to benefit Bitcoin, wouldn't he be giving away all those Bitcoins? IMO, it would be pretty dumb to intentionally delete a wallet. If you want to decrease the Bitcoin in circulation, just keep the private key and not spend your Bitcoins.
7369  Economy / Gambling / Re: Does investing on a bitcoin dice bankroll a good idea? on: April 17, 2015, 02:44:18 PM
In most cases, investments in casinos can be profitable but not in the short term however. Depending on the house edge, if the house edge is 1%, the overall expected profit would be 1%. That is if no one comes and wipe a huge percent of the bank roll off and the casinos have no exploits or suddenly run off. The expected profit would still be 1% in the long term but it would be a very long term.
Here's a question I got for you guys:

For eg JD's Bankroll is 0 (Don't Laugh, Its just an example)! I invest 1 BTC there, And another gambler comes in and loses 1 BTC! So I get 1.9 BTC and 0.1 goes to dooglus... But I think the odds aren't on my side if the gambler knows when to stop!
The chances of gambler to double his money is 49.5%.. My odds are 50.5%

But if the gambler wins he gets 2x of the bet amount i.e. 2 BTC
But if I(house) win/s, I just get 90% profit i.e. 1.9 BTC

So isn't it better to gamble yourself and stop on the right time rather than investing on the house?

The chances of you losing is much higher than the chances of you winning. The problem is most people don't know when to stop when they win a bet. Your bets may be a loss for 32 times(worst case scenario) that would be more risky than investing in the house. And if Nakowa or similar person comes back and does this, you would end up with huge profits.
7370  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Plz help a noob on: April 17, 2015, 02:06:03 PM
After placing it in the directory, start up the wallet and it will start to sync to the latest block. Note that the format is bootstrap.dat not bootstrap.dat.torrent. The recent upgrade to headers-first synchronizations has made this optional since it can now downloads simultaneously from all peers.
7371  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Let's say satoshi is cashing out 1million BTC on: April 16, 2015, 11:29:39 AM

Quote
You want to do it in a relative short period of time, so no cashing out slowly in 5 years version.

Why?

Cashing in a short period of time would crush the price and he would effectively lose money. Cashing over longer period of time would allow him to get more FIAT for his coins.
Another reason is that if he is selling all the coins he have, he would be selling near 1 million of Bitcoin. If large amount of money gets to his bank, the FBI would definitely find him. Also, the seller would be suspicious too.
7372  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Create BTC adresses that start with 3 on: April 15, 2015, 10:43:19 PM
If each key is signed independently, the user would have a lower chance to get hacked. The transaction will only be sent if x out of y slkeys are signed. This functions like a group of people holding a private key. The number of people agreeing to make the transaction must be more than x. Some people using this is some of the escrows and greenaddress.it .
7373  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blocks are really lagging recently on: April 15, 2015, 10:28:55 PM
So this 'lagging blocks' problem is partially responsible for a huge delay I observed on my transaction confirmation? Because there was really like 4 hours lagging confirmation last night... What is going on with the network?
I was waiting for a confirmation last night on Poloniex, and had to go to sleep before the coins arrived.
Maybe try to increase the miner fees  to get the transactions confirming faster ? Depends on if you need the coins ASAP or you wait until the next day, and I think ploniex credits coins after 6 confirmations. That's why it took so long .
The first confirmation is the most crucial one. If you get the first confirmation, you will get all the confirmations after each block is mined. The waiting time can't be decreased by adding huge fees if the network is experiencing badluck and blocks aren't being mined.
7374  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi cashing out 1million BTC on: April 15, 2015, 01:38:19 PM
He has already sold his coins back in early 2011 when the price were 31$ per btc. He dumped it to 1$ . I don't think Satoshi anymore owns any significant number of bitcoins. He didn't imagine that bitcoin will become the biggest invention of the last 500 years.
That wasn't satoshi. That was done by a hacker trying to bypass the withdrawal limits of hacked accounts in mt. gox[1]. Most of the addresses he mined on remained untouched intentionally except the gensis block which he can't spend.

7376  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blocks are really lagging recently on: April 15, 2015, 01:22:02 PM
do you think some miners programmed to shut off at a certain price?
It's quite possible.
I don't see any reason in doing that. If they are mining on PPLNS system, they would ultimately lose out on some money due to how it works. Your shares wouldn't be counted for the block if you exit it early and the pool has bad luck.
And once again I'm thinking it would be a good idea to reduce the interval between blocks to 1min average. This would also reduce difficulty adjustment period if maintaining the same number of blocks to calculate it. And, we might live to see the final bitcoin being mined!
Plus, we don't have to wait several more years to experience the true deflationary nature of BTC (price wise)
Lol,
1) Reducing block time will reduce safety: now if your tx has 3 confirmations it means that you are guarded by approximately 30min x all-bitcoin-network-hashrate. If you reduce block time to one minute you need to wait 30 conf to get the same level of security.
2) Dream of all bitcoiners is the bitcoin as global accepted payment system. To rich this goal we need stable bitcoin now. There are a lot of unstable stuff around, i mean from one hand laws, regulation, from other price and hardware competitions, so at least basic principles should be untouched.
True. But still, you don't need 1 confirmation for most daily items that you would purchase. If you were to purchase something and it costs $5, the merchant can take several precautions and risk of double spending would be rather low. IMO, confirmations are only needed if you are purchasing online or paying for $30+ things.
7377  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BlockChain Help on: April 14, 2015, 01:07:17 PM
Hi, I do a transaction yesterday, with out fees (this is the error) and today, 18h later say "Unconfirmed Transaction!" and 0% Network Propagation.
What can i do?

Next time use minimal fee at least 10.000 satoshi or BTC 0.0001 when you're using custom payment on blockchain
When you send bigger amount you need a bigger fee
The minimum relay fee for nodes to relay your transaction on a standard Bitcoin Core latest client is 1,000 satoshis. If you pay 1,000 satoshis, those with the minimum relay fee set at 1,000 will relay it. The more the number of nodes relaying your transactions, the faster it would reach the miner and be confirmed. Bigger amount does not necessary means bigger fees. If your transaction A has a single 10BTC inputs while transaction B have 20 inputs which totals up to 5BTC, transaction B will end up paying a higher fee since the transaction size is bigger.
7378  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which problems do bitcoin help to solve ? on: April 13, 2015, 12:48:10 PM
Bitcoin doesn't need anyone to trust the government and the fees for transfer are considered much lower than typical bank transfers. Many virtual items sellers has opted for Bitcoin as a payment option since it can't be charged back.
7379  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BlockChain Help on: April 13, 2015, 12:46:42 PM
After 24 to 36 hours the transaction should be dropped from the blockchain i've read. after that happens (you don't see the transaction anymore) send it again but with a fee and it should confirm in the next block or two.

in most cases that is possible, but in my case i tried sending 10k satoshi without fees about 2-3 weeks ago and it cancelled once in a while but the problem is, when it cancels it automatically sends the same transaction again and again.

Which wallet are you using? It looks like your transactions are being rebroadcasted. AFAIK Blockchain.info doesn't do it. I have tried sending zero-fee transaction and it wasn't rebroadcasted when it was dropped out.

Also 0.0001BTC isn't good as an input for zero-fee transaction. Zero-fee transactions which have input higher than 0.01BTC, size lower than 1000 bytes and input(coin) age is high, it will have higher priority than other zero-fee transactions. However, miners can choose which transactions to add and most miners include transactions with recommended fees.
No one has an accurate answer about Blockchain.info, I had mine rebroadcasting for months before it finally get into a block.

Zero-fees transaction MUST have no outputs lower than 546 satoshi and if possible 0.01 for each output. But even so, if someone else make a transaction that has the same amount as you with a fee, he is going to have faster confirmations. This depends on the network load most of the time.
7380  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: desperately want bitcoin on: April 13, 2015, 12:41:46 PM
Virwox is certainly your best choice if you don't have any spare change. If you have some spare change, you can simply go to your nearest ATM and exchange your spare change. Alternatively, you can also arrange a person to person meet up with another person to exchange BTC.
