8321  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Wallet Backup - How while mining? on: August 11, 2014, 09:13:58 AM
Hi

I'm a newbie, will be starting mining soon.  Until then, questions popup.  Now, i have the following questions:

1.) Let's say i join a mining group, provide my wallet address, and set the cashout threshold to 1 BTC.  My rigs are working, and i reach 1 BTC, and I find that BTC in my wallet.  I decide to backup my wallet, so from the computer where the wallet is, i will take a copy of wallet.dat and put it safely on a USB and store it offline.

Now, while my rig is still running, can i update my wallet ID so all new BTCs go to it?

2.) If i take a copy of the wallet.dat and store it as explained above, and I run my wallet software again, what happens? does this make my backup obselete?

I would also appreciate if you show me a reference to good topics of backups and advanced backups.

thanks,
1) Yes, Bitcoin is stored on a public ledger, called Blockchain. Your transaction is basically added to the ledger so everyone knows you own that one BTC. When you have finished Synchronization, your balance will be available and you would be able to spend it with the private key.
2) No, your wallet.dat contains your private key which will never change. Your wallet software basically reads your address and the private key and find those transaction involving your address and display them. If you want to spend them, you fill everything up and press sent and the wallet will sign a transaction using your private key and relay it to the network.
8322  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Receiving coin while unsynchronized ? on: August 11, 2014, 09:08:47 AM
You have to be fully synhronised to see that transaction in wavet. But in blockchain info it is seen right after sent.

Well I'm pretty positive I've gotten notice of coins that were sent to my wallet while the syncing process is taking place.  I'm interested what others have noticed, I just assumed the wallet would update as it sorted threw the update.
Is the transaction included in that specific block your wallet has downloaded and verified? If your transaction is included in the block your wallet have verified, the transaction and balance would automatically appear. I am not 100% sure about this.
8323  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Mixing on: August 11, 2014, 08:59:51 AM
What is the point of that action ?
To increase the anonymity. The purpose of Bitcoin is to make payments without revealing your actual identity. However, the public ledger will record all the transactions and if you do something which you do not want anyone to know, there is a chance the coin will be traced back to you. The coins will be mixed by them sending a bunch of coin which have no connection with your previous output, therefore, no one can trace the coin back to you.

8325  Economy / Services / Re: Up to 0.01 BTC weekly for YOUR SIGNATURE on: August 11, 2014, 07:53:43 AM
Works for me, thanks Smiley

Yah, but you'll be hero in a few weeks.  At that point you could make more by posting a mere 6 times per week if you use one of the pay-per-post campaigns.  6 posts per week really isn't a lot, imho.  I think this campaign only makes sense if you're literally going out of town for a while.
There is only one available, Primedice's campaign. ATM, if you make less than 50post per month, you would not get paid. If you only make 6 post per week, you need sometime before you can get paid. Some people join this as they want money without spending time on the forum and they can get paid upfront.
8326  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: mining with smartphone on: August 11, 2014, 03:38:02 AM
Wasn't there an app to mine LTC a couple of years ago?
There are a few apps which can mine Scrypt and SHA256. They aren't very efficient and I never get to submit a single share while my Phone overheated. Even with the best phone, you cannot surpass the hashrate of a normal desktop computer in terms of temperature and hashrates.
8327  Economy / Gambling / Re: Primedice 3 Launched!!!!!!! | Most Popular Bitcoin Game! | 400k+ BTC Wagered | on: August 11, 2014, 03:19:22 AM
I'm not sure if it is only me. If you press the stop autobet button, it would not stop. I pressed max and wanted to change the odds but however, it just bet the whole amount at a different odd and after that all-in, the autobet will continue with the preset amount.
8328  Economy / Goods / Re: Anonymous reloadable prepaid plastic VISA ATM cards with own IBAN on: August 10, 2014, 02:38:22 PM
ok. I will try to call to Mbank tomorrow, but anybody...who has blocked card?
What is your status? blocked or Active? how can I know is it blocked or ?

now really want to get my money back)))
Have you reached your limit for yearly or daily spending? The sentence BLOKADA: ZAKUP PRZY UŻYCIU KARTY  means that funds are reserved for payments. They will be cleared within days. This is totally normal. You may have reached the limit for transfers for that time period.
8329  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best signature campaign for "member" rank? on: August 10, 2014, 11:21:23 AM
Primedice will probably lose a lot of people because other campaigns are paying more but I still think primedice will always be the best campaign.

what other campaings are paying more?  Huh
DiceBitco.in beat primedice in price in a small difference. There is only one campaign that beat primedice AFAIK and the difference isn't that huge.
8330  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: If a CEX.IO voucher doesn't expire then shouldn't I get unlimited bitcoins? on: August 10, 2014, 09:29:02 AM
Someone has been selling 2 GH/s CEX.IO vouchers on eBay for a couple of dollars each. Apparently these don't ever expire meaning that they continue hashing and hashing and hashing forever.

Now, my question is, why is this not a good deal? Isn't the potential reward infinite? Wouldn't it make great sense to spend a finite amount of money to get something that gives an infinite amount of money back?
Yes it will hash for you forever. However, they charge a maintenance fee which you would need to pay from your shares submitted. When the payouts turns to 0, you would have negative balance and you have to pay for them. Even though it will mine for you forever, it isn't free.
8331  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best signature campaign for "member" rank? on: August 10, 2014, 09:22:09 AM
I checked the comparison thread and didn't found nothing for newbies but I understand that no one would look at my signature.
777coin campaign does allow newbies to join https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=654009.0. Newbies have a lot of signature restrictions therefore you would get very low pays. It is better than nothing however. You might want to consider shifting to another campaign after you have reached member status.
8332  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best signature campaign for "member" rank? on: August 10, 2014, 06:21:16 AM
Primedice will probably lose a lot of people because other campaigns are paying more but I still think primedice will always be the best campaign.

There is just one which is paying more. And it has not yet made its first payment.  Grin
The only campaign that is paying more is full. Not only that but PD has been around for ~9 months now and is by far the most long running campaign. I think that PD is able to pay a little bit less for this stability.

If you look at PD's opening post, rates were raised in April.
Who is to say that it won't happen again? Smiley
I don't think it is necessary, the competition isn't much now. There is only a few pay per post and only one which have higher rates than Stunna by a little bit. I believe Stunna have already proven himself trusted by paying over 100 BTC for the campaign for the last few months. DiceBitco.in is only on the first month and have not done any payment yet so I wouldn't say it would be fully reliable.

I can't see what is the problem of sending those payments?
Just don't pay those newbie/brand new/other way suspicious accounts, right?
Filtering those account take some time, Stunna have to filter out one by one then credit them. Crediting them should take sometime too. There is a lot of accounts to filter so Stunna do need extra time. I don't think people should complain especially when you are taking free money.
8334  Economy / Goods / Re: Anonymous reloadable prepaid plastic VISA ATM cards with own IBAN on: August 10, 2014, 03:20:32 AM
today i just check my "history of operations" on mbank eu card and i saw

afaik is the paypal verification stuff
is not mine, wtf is this? someone has guessed my card data? Huh

It seems someone is trying to verify a PayPal account with your card. You only need card number, expiry and CVV for that, with these cards. Have you showed the card to anyone, or payed on a site that is not entirely trustful?

no i don't Sad
It looks like there may be some kind of leek regarding the card info.
My experience is that if you buy something online, even if it doesn't go through, PayPal will still charge you 1EUR. It can be your number is exposed to a hacker. The 1EUR does not only apply to verification.
8335  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best signature campaign for "member" rank? on: August 10, 2014, 03:17:08 AM
Primedice will probably lose a lot of people because other campaigns are paying more but I still think primedice will always be the best campaign.
Stability is the key. New campaigns pop up and close down. I would rather stay with this than going to another campaign which have the risk of closing down. I don't see anyone not having payment without valid reason. His trust is more than others who are running a campaign, people would trust him as he have no benefit of running away with the money, his reputation is worth more than the signature campaign payment amount.
8336  Economy / Reputation / Re: Do you think BiPolarBob is crazy ?? *share your deals you did with him before* on: August 10, 2014, 03:13:12 AM
I am not sure what exactly his angle is, but I suspect that he is trying to run some kind of long term scam.

Another possibility is that he is selling things that were somehow stolen or purchased with stolen credit cards.

In my experience, if something sounds too good to be true, it probably it.
I doubt he can loan more than 0.25 even with good reputation. You don't see scammers sending people 0.25 for no reason and Give deals which is in the losing side. I haven't see anyone encountering problems with the cards so far.
8337  Other / Meta / Re: I can't post anything on: August 09, 2014, 01:59:42 PM
To bypass the limit, you have to surf the forum for 6 minutes or so. It can be a good idea to solve spam problems. As your activity increases, you would be able to get a lower waiting time until it is hardly noticeable.
One way to avoid getting this limit is it google "countdown timer" and set the timer to 6 minutes, don't post until the timer goes off. It is an app that is on the search results so you don't even need to go to a website.

It is just a few weeks of posting before you can post quite frequently without waiting long between post; be patient!

If I remember correctly, you just have to attein the rank of Member to have an unrestricted account.
Not exactly, unrestricted, there are still a small wait time to prevent spam. It should just be enough for a person to properly construct a post and post it. After member, you should be able to ignore the restriction.
8338  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: mining with smartphone on: August 09, 2014, 01:57:18 PM
The good thing about mining with smartphone is you can just mine it while you are in class, dorm anywhere you at... Just if ASIC is not that bulky...

It emits too much heat. If you are thinking about bringing it around, get rid of the heat issue first then power issue. Why don't you just set up ASIC at your own house? You don't have to move it around and you also don't have to pay for mobile services for mining. It would be troublesome to bring such an inefficient ASIC around, I doubt it can even submit a single share.

Wouldn't a roll of 99.99216 round down to 99.99 rather than up to 100.00?
Well, it does round down since PD calculates win based on only xx.xx. However, since they said it must be over 99.99000, the number when calculated was more than 99.99 therefore it should have been a win.
