7421  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Spondolies SP50 on: October 16, 2015, 10:07:17 PM

Well not taking any sides  but I don't see the sp50 in the hashrate numbers yet.

So if it is mining as I type it is 50 or less of them.  since 50 x 110 = 5.5ph which would not be 2%

The real questions are:

1) If 50 of them are running as I type will it grow to 500?
2) Do they really do 110th at 16500 watts?
3) What do they cost to build?

I have some interesting suggestion:

OK, it is 110+/-10. How about doing a binary option?
If installed machine is consistently operating at above 115-117.5TH, then charge 10% more as a bonus, and if it is operating at less than 105Th, then charge 20% less than listed price.
Would this be fair?

I realize that it is unlikely to happen, regardless.
The machine is very interesting, but bulk ordering is the limitation.
7422  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: October 16, 2015, 07:32:09 PM
Here are a couple of data centers that specialize in hosting Bitcoin miners and their rates are way less than the $150-$300/KW/Month I keep seeing in this thread.
$60/KW/Month (CAD?), Great North Data, Canada (30 KW minimum)
$72/KW/Month, Lee Group in Chengdu, China (I ran 20 S5's here for 9 months - good company)
$80, $85, $90/KW/Month, Toomim Bros, Moses Lake, Washington, USA (they have a good reputation)

Sorry for the auto promotion, but I think I can add myself to the list since I have a competitive price.
58 USD / kW / Month. Cryptominer Canada, Montreal Canada. (No minimum, 15$ setup fee / miner). http://cryptominer.ca The website is very minimalistic, but I'll improve in the next month.

There is also allinvain who does Bitcoin hosting in Canada through Cryptoboreas. I think they have about the same rate as me.

Sounds truly great, but could you confirm the 5% import tax if equipment is coming from US, payable immediately?

It only took a couple of hours to get clearance...they are on the way again!  It is funny how BM is confused with the whole shipping notification.  First, the order said shipped and nothing.  Then it ships and the order status switches to Unshipped.  The packages are slowly circumnavigating the globe and the status stays Unshipped.

That tends to happen from a company in a country with no real oversight, no standards and no scruples.

Where exactly is your 'free' power supplied from? ...

i don't know about this case, but sometimes people here refer to "free power" when they are in effect riding either on their mom's/dad's/grandpa power or are in a dorm, but dorm days were over after S3-nobody can tolerate S5 or S7 in the same dorm room.
I also suspect that some also stuck their miners in server rooms of their employer(s), but it is bound to have repercussions at least in some cases, I think.

Houston have some great 3 mo rates available right now, less so 6mo and OK 12 mo. Not a zero, though  Smiley
7424  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Best miner hardware in case of Free electricity on: October 16, 2015, 07:05:51 PM
People keep posting about these zero rates and make everyone jealous.
yeah, it looks like S3 is the best deal, but you have to add ~40 for PSU or PSU equivalent (could run three on one EVGA 1300 )
so 22X140=$3080 before shipping, so it is close between S3 and S5 and S5 might edge S3 since more units need to be shipped in the latter case.
reliability: S3 was rock solid.
7425  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoins todays price. on: October 16, 2015, 06:06:04 PM
Today i saw that the price of bitcoin is so fast to rise. what do you think in this week?
This is the time to buy bitcoins?

Buy when everybody is selling, sell when everybody is buying. Don't be a sheep.

this is true long term, but for short term trends the sweetest buy point is at the beginning of a sharp uptrend.
I have no idea if it is, but buying at $265 makes perfect sense if it is about to do  a +50-1000% run.
For example, in mid Jan 2013 it already went up 30% from $12 to $15, nevertheless it was a very good buy place because it was at the very bottom of a very steep rise to $250 and eventually to $1160.
7426  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: S5 and Wi-Fi on: October 16, 2015, 05:57:29 PM
I just got my S5 up and running.. I need to move the unit into the garage.. How can I add a Wi-Fi card to the S5 or can I use a Apple Express box?

If using Wi-Fi would it decrees the performance? How would I set something up like this?

yeah, use apple express if you have it.
if you already have your network extended to express, then easy peasy, just put express close to miner, then connect your miner to it by ethernet cord.
if you have multiple miners, then use ethernet hub to connect multiple miners to it, then connect hub to express. It should work.
7427  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Spondolies SP50 on: October 16, 2015, 02:36:49 PM
Three SP50 would burn up my entire hosting capacity. It's a small shop and not a major data center, but still. Three SP50.

Anything over $300/kW/month for the total package sounds like high-density colo with clean uninterrupted power to the cabinet. This is definitely not cost effective for mining.

I live in Texas and have a locked in 0.085 residential rate (yay, deregulation), which isn't the best in the world I admit. I researched the multiple co-lo's in the area and I could save a penny with commercial service, but the added in cabinet space and limitation on kW per rack added in an additional $100-200. Since most of the co-lo's here are geared towards oil/gas, there are very few low tier providers. The ones that do exist have no bitcoin mining policies, heh. I guess they oversubscribe the kW allotment and don't want people that use the max like most residential internet providers.

Ufo

I am in Houston too, looking for next provider and right now rates are sweet, but I am not sure whether I want 6, 9 or 12 mo.
Which provider are you with?
I can get a great rate, but only 3-6 mo, then a switchover in the spring or summer-not an entirely good proposition.
7429  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: October 15, 2015, 03:58:26 PM
Mine has changed to "Unshipped" also...I guess it's to fix that little snafu.  I am concerned about hearing that 9/8 orders are being shipped and my 9/6 order is still silent.

Which shipper is yours coming?

These are slated for UPS...but they are going directly to Toomim Bros for hosting so I can't look for items being shipped to my address under MyUPS.

I stand corrected; they were SUPPOSED to be shipped directly to Toomim.  I just found all 4 packages scheduled to be shipped directly to me by the 19th.  My order/confirm date was 2015-09-06 22:25:04.  Now I know.

can't you redirect them?

Former Bitreserve just hit the spot, NOT!

Messrs CEO and president are talking flak about bitcoin?

I don't think that any self respecting bitcoiner should have anything to do with this company, especially after the stunt they just pulled off.
If i had any bitcoin there, I would have immediately removed all of it, but thankfully, I never had any deposited.
Incidentally, is it uphold or holdup? I don't quite remember...
In five years we shall see what persevers: bitcoin or this entity
They will be speculating on deposits? Oh, my.

By the way, when services are free, what is the product-YOU, dummy.
Ponder this.

I started with GPU's back in the day and had corsair RM1000 psu's
Went to
gridseed
gridseed blade
s3
s3+
s5
Then flipped to 240v
Then to the datacenter.
Now dumped s5's at the datacenter and used the cash  for s7's.
Waiting on s7's
So now I have PILES of RM1000 corsairs.
So I am going to use three Rm1000 to power two s7's
Rm1000 are gold psu's

if you do that, you would not be able to follow the bitmain's rule of powering boards first and controller later when using more than one PSU/machine.
You are bound to start at least some boards at the same time as controller while other board(s) in the same machine will be powered by another PSU.
Maybe it is still OK, i don't know.
actually if the pdu has a power on switch they can all be fired up together

yeah, good point-I don't have PDU(s), just power strips with just one machine, so this kind of escaped me.
7433  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] four PSU for antminer S3 and S5 with SUPER BONUS on: October 14, 2015, 09:36:03 PM

well, last i look, in some states you have to pay tax on amazon, so in TX, for example, it is $88.75 including tax for CX750 and 67.02 for CX500
I am selling CX750M for $65 offered and CX500M (practically new) for $55 PLUS a $100 coupon for antminer S7 if you buy any two PSU (first pair only or three or all four).
If this is not a good deal, I don't know what is.
However, I've got only one coupon, so only the first who buys at least two gets it.

He's right, that's why you haven't sold anything.  I think the last CX750 I sold on here went for something like $30?  Bring them down, someone will get them Smiley

well, i cannot speak for others and why you wanted to sell yours for $30, but $30 for Corsair 750M is way too low in my opinion, unless it was busted/not working.
Besides, i was selling two CX750 for $130 PLUS a $100 coupon, so in dollar terms that deal was $15/Corsair 750 SHIPPED after subtracting the coupon value.
the deal is gone, though, as I already sold both CX750.

Here's your CX500 for $40 w/free shipping from Newegg.  http://www.ebay.com/itm/CORSAIR-CXM-series-CX500M-500W-ATX12V-v2-3-SLI-Ready-CrossFire-Ready-80-PLUS-BRO-/291302815628?hash=item43d300378c

Here's the CX750M for $50 with free shipping, again from Newegg.  http://www.ebay.com/itm/CORSAIR-CXM-series-CX750M-750W-ATX12V-v2-3-SLI-Ready-CrossFire-Ready-80-PLUS-BRO-/381396138678?hash=item58ccfb3ab6

Both are refurbished, so not even used.  That's why I said your price was too high.  Not trying to threadcrap man, but people come here for deals, not to pay more for used equipment than a massive retailer sells refurbished for.

i never buy refurbs, but go ahead...it looks like a bargain.
besides, there was a deal for $130-$100coupon=$30 for two Corsairs. If it wasn't a deal for you, then OK.
7434  Economy / Speculation / Re: How much do you think 1 Bitcoin will be worth in 2020? on: October 14, 2015, 09:20:12 PM
$1,000 in 5 years means nothing will have happened. It's either way above $10,000 or a relic bouncing between $1 and $100. You are all too modest.

I completely agree

I have been mining for around a year on eligius with around 19 BTC payout total, and my total luck is 95.35% right now. That is pretty awful considering the time frame..

good point: aren't luck supposed to be close to 100% over long periods?
I also mined on the same machine exactly a year and my luck record is 94.25%

http://organofcorti.blogspot.no/2015/07/faq-bitcoin-mining-and-luck-statistic.html

So I read this and as far I understood calculated the approximate chance of being as unlucky as eligius have been:

http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=CDF(ErlangDistribution(2000%2C+2000)%2C+1.0487)

Apparently it's 1.5%..
1 in every 66 times the pool would be more lucky than it has been last year. Confirms the feeling that it has been awful..

You probably mean 1 in 66 times less lucky than last year, otherwise you are saying that we exceeded the expected luck.

7438  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price going up for no apparent reason? on: October 14, 2015, 07:55:31 PM
Normal market movement, slow up until resistance will become too heavy, and then sideways, before another capitulation will start.

could be a triple bottom later, but we already have a skewed W, which could be sufficient (technically) for a sustained uptick.
7439  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price going up for no apparent reason? on: October 14, 2015, 07:53:28 PM
What is the reason?

What do we not know?

Just a another manipulation for a short pump and dump? We haven't had one of those for quite a time.

The reason is that the block reward halving is approaching.  It is sensible logic to assume the price will double in anticipation.  We saw a low of around $180 recently, so I think that the price going to $360 in the next 9-12 months is a reasonable assumption.

A more bullish explanation might be that the Winklevoss twins' new exchange brought many of their rich friends off the sidelines to begin accumulating bitcoins in anticipation of the COIN ETF being approved.  The COIN ETF has the potential to dump billions into the Bitcoin market, at which point an optimistic price point would be $2,000-$4,000.

Either way, I believe the markets are seeing that the worst is over.  The reward now outweighs the risk and money will flow appropriately.

if that is the case, easy peasy....buy ETF within 1 mo of introduction, wait for ~2-4K in bitcoin price equivalent in ETF, sell ETF, buy puts on ETF..profit.
Don't need to do anything with a real asset/bitcoin (hold or hodl that).

Why the counter has to run to 0.28-0.3 before the payout?
