to three months at a juvenile detention center for mocking an assistant principal on a MySpace page

If anyone did this in the UK people would be smuggling weapons in seriously or at least marching in the thousands to protest it.

U.S Public? Where's your source for that? Last I saw it was a bunch of the local politicians who didn't want the terrorists in their prisons that were responsible for stopping him not the U.S 'public'.

I am curious who this person thinks will invest in him when he's yelling and swearing at people. You know, the people he wants to give him money.

You can ask Josh Zerlan of Butterfly Labs the same question. Who would invest with him when he's been antagonizing forum members here for the last year.

Stupid people Cheesy
7444  Other / Meta / Re: Forum ads now blocked by AdBlock Plus EasyList on: May 25, 2013, 02:26:32 PM
Yeah, on this site they're okay, but either way they shouldn't just restrict people or get angry over them at blocking them, but the point is if you have adblock on and click onto other sites from here they can be easily blocked too. The problem is there are people out there ( mainly people who rely entirely on ad income because they're useless ) that absolutely hate adblock and even rig their sites to complain whenever you have it turned on, of course I don't visit those sites at all.

I think the problem stems from these pay per click/ pay per impression payment systems, ad people get far too obsessed over silly statistics like that, this is why I like the idea of anonymous ads and sites like it, since the publishers have to pay you first before they can put up the ads.
7445  Other / Meta / Re: Hero members, also based on registration time on: May 25, 2013, 12:11:45 PM
I know I'll get some stick for this being a hero member myself but honestly, the silly titles and status' on your forum profile meant nothing to begin with, it's whether you actively trade with other Bitcointalk members and so on and prove yourself trustworthy that makes the real difference I've noticed. It's like this obsession people have with achievements in computer games, all they are are just a bunch of stats that a programmer has labelled, it doesn't necessarily mean you've done anything worthwhile with your time.
7446  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Starting an Adult/Porn 3D Virtual Reality company, need donations on: May 25, 2013, 11:04:20 AM
Yes, I'm sure you'll keep telling yourself that Tongue I do agree with you though, I've never understood this fanatical hatred of smut.
7447  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bitcoin and terrorists on: May 25, 2013, 10:58:09 AM
HSBC have already been caught red handed money laundering for terrorists and drug dealers so it's not going to make much difference regardless of how much they scream about it.
7448  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is the UK still hunrgy for bitcoins cos i just i seen something really cool . on: May 25, 2013, 10:56:41 AM
Sounds like a good idea, but the mobile phone companies might react badly to using their networks for Bitcoins, you could maybe get something set up specifically designed for the task though.
7449  Other / Meta / Re: Forum ads now blocked by AdBlock Plus EasyList on: May 25, 2013, 10:46:57 AM
If you just posted simple text based ads or ads that don't flash and annoy the fuck out of me then I wouldn't even need adblock, I actually quite like most Bitcoin sites because they seem to have gotten the idea.

I am similarly annoyed by STEAM, but its prices are so alluring I often find myself clicking "Buy" before I stopped thinking.

People must have noticed this, but I know with Steam their discounts are unfairly biased against indie developers, if there are indie developers out there now I'd much rather pay them directly in Bitcoin and without any DRM whatsoever. You see it all the time, they constantly discount the indie games and then put on tiny discounts for the mainstream games, the only time I see them make a move to discount the bigger games is if there is a Christmas special and even then if it's a really popular title they know will sell like with Skyrim they'll hardly touch it.

You don't ever actually own these games and you can't have them stored on your hard drive or USB stick forever, so you're basically paying full price in order to rent and people don't even bloody realise it. I don't know about the situation with consoles because I haven't bought a console since the PS2 but I'm just as suspicious of them.
7451  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are Bitcoins a Good Investment? on: May 25, 2013, 10:28:55 AM
They're a store of wealth, not an investment, treat them like a more volatile gold and silver.
7452  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-05-21 Bitcoin community adapts to hackers and fraudsters on: May 25, 2013, 10:13:33 AM
What's this? It's possible to live in a society without government regulation?! MADNESS!

Quote
Therefore, we propose that these instances of fraud, by bonding the community and by flourishing safe businesses around Bitcoin, actually increase Bitcoin’s institutional entrepreneurship potential.”

Loyalists are going to absolutely hate us, I like this article a lot Cheesy
7453  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Trust System on: May 25, 2013, 10:09:48 AM
I think it's a good idea in general but I can easily foresee blackmailers etc. trying to use it to downvote sellers and ruin their reputation.

Edit: It seems to me you mods are creating more and more work for yourself without needing too, you should just focus on keeping the spammers out more than anything.
7454  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [video] Obama speechless as Code Pink founder heckles over Gitmo on: May 25, 2013, 10:06:48 AM
That's easy, some Americans out there can only see the 'other' side as bad, when it comes to their own side they are completely flawless and of course you definitely can't have opinions different from the two mainstream parties, that's impossible, in American politics you're either a Republican or Democrat, left or right.
7455  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [video] Obama speechless as Code Pink founder heckles over Gitmo on: May 24, 2013, 03:49:03 PM
Leaders are always going to get people killed because of their decisions, that's why I think we don't need them, they also tend to be the ones who are expected to take the blame for everything too.
7456  Economy / Economics / Re: Energy consumption could become an issue if bitcoin really breaks through on: May 24, 2013, 11:44:47 AM
Synechococcus bacteria, solves the problem of too much carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, we found the answer to this problem years ago.
Even if that would be true and these bacteria would solve our CO2 problem without causing even worse side effects (hear my doubt?), there would still be the other side of energy supply: limited resources.

True, it may well be that this kind of bacteria is a key component in terraforming though which I find pretty interesting Cheesy

.... Go look up what a flush setting is you noob, I'm actually capable of doing more than one thing in life Tongue
7458  Other / Off-topic / Re: What we've learnt today. on: May 24, 2013, 06:06:37 AM
. Not just today but over the past weeks I've been learning C++/SDL and I learned that even tutorials have blatant bugs or will be badly laid out so I actually have to read through the errors myself or ask someone for help fixing them, remember that if you ever decide to learn coding, if the compiler doesn't work it may not be your fault but the tutorial not being checked over properly before it's released or the code would only work with an older version of your compiler.

. When it comes to learning coding you spend less time learning the code and more time downloading the correct extensions to make it work, then you find that you have to learn bits of code for those extensions, depending on what you're doing you don't seem to use the standard programming language because it isn't always flexible enough to do what you want the coding itself is actually pretty easy once you learn the commands

. I learned how to make a flush setting in Jewellery Cheesy

The only reason Jesus threw out the moneychangers was because they were muscling in on his turf, religion is not really all that benevolent.
7460  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Ending bankruptcies, unemployment, and poverty on: May 23, 2013, 06:58:33 PM
I think some of you are being too naive, bankruptcies, unemployment and poverty will always happen in an economy the best thing we can do is pick what will cause the least damage, what current financial policies do is make it all far more damaging and long lasting. One great thing deflationary currencies do is make everything cheaper, me getting 100 sales in Bitcoin will get me a lot more than if I got 100 sales in paper money, that means I also have to work less because I can purchase more, in an inflationary currency it's the opposite.
