7541  Economy / Speculation / Re: Before Season Downtrend in 2018, What happened? on: May 23, 2021, 12:18:06 PM
And BTC.D decreased from 60% to 41%
I even saw Bitcoin dominance going below 40% to around 37% on Coingecko website but now it started to go back up with currently holding around 44.7% and growing.

Not sure what will happen in future but we are never going to see mythical flippening some people would like to see and we are still holding the path for Bitcoin stock-to-flow model made by PlanB.
Sure, we can go even lower due to fud from all sources like Elon, China ban and new regulations, but look long term and remember that fiat printing machines are running non-stop, and prices for food and everything else are rising.
7542  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sextortion - more than 4000 BTC cashed on: May 23, 2021, 12:06:08 PM
The 1GYNGZ... address he used successfully with about 10 victims but there are thousands others all ending up in the 1JsAC.... in total more than 4000 BTC. The scammer followed Satoshis advice not to use always the same address a bit.
I am really not surprised anymore after year 2020/201 how people can be ultra stupid, not using their brain and not doing any research before trusting anything they hear or read in email or mainstream news.
One guy even commented that his father was very worried about this sextortion email he received, and than his son had to remind him that they don't even have webcam on their computer.
Fear Sells the best, just don't buy it.
7543  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Business model of crypto wallet service providor on: May 23, 2021, 10:48:39 AM
Anyway, can you please share what do you think about the business model of the following wallet-
1. Electrum
Electrum is open source wallet designed for holding and transacting with your Bitcoins, so there is no service in this case.
People donate to Electrum developers because they like it and project stay updated for years.

2. Trust Wallet/ Automic Wallet
Trust wallet is sponsored by Binance exchange and I don't think they are open source so you need to trust their code.
Similar like Atomic, they earn fees from people who are exchanging and staking some altcoins.

3. Blockchain.com wallet
Actually I'm talking about monetary gain of these services.
There is no monetary gain from using any of this wallets, I hear some people are complaining about Blockchain.com wallet and I see no reason of using web wallet like this.
If their website shuts down or if you lose their login password you can potentially lose all your coins.
7544  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Does hardware wallets really delete wallet files? on: May 23, 2021, 10:01:26 AM
Is there any way to make sure that the device wallets are really deleting old wallet files, meaning there is no way to recover them after I click on the Restore button? Or do I need to destroy the device using a hammer or a microwove to make sure that no third party can recover the files in any way.
It depends what wallets you are using but if you want to be totally sure I would first delete everything from devices and than smash it with hammer or burn them in microwave.

Trezor have Wipe memory option and I think Legder have something similar, but there can always be some leftovers in memory or in secure elements so I would not take the risk of trusting microchips when some future exploit could extract all information.
7545  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: [VELIKA LISTA] Hardverski novčanici (80+) on: May 23, 2021, 09:23:14 AM
7546  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: what's the diff between SecuX W10 vs SecuX W20? on: May 22, 2021, 09:15:17 AM
I'm having second thoughts because some of the people in the reviews are saying that your coins are being stored on their website and they're charging 1% fees when you transfer. I don't know if that's true but if it is that's kind of messed up. The information about it on the Amazon site says they do not store it on their website so I don't know.
Coins are not really stored either on their device or on their website but device is only holding seed phrases.
I recommend people to only use open source wallets like Electrum, and Trezor, Coldcard or Bitbox are very good open source hardware wallets and you can check this List of all Open Source Hardware Wallets.
Ledger wallet is also popular but keep in mind that it is closed source device and they had multiple customer information leaks so far.
7547  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sextortion - more than 4000 BTC cashed on: May 22, 2021, 08:45:27 AM
But the amazing thing is that despite the naive approach, the extortionist was able to collect many millions of $ (more than 4,000 BTC) from thousands of people
Where is the proof or some source link showing that someone actually send total of 4000 Bitcoin for this stupid extortion emails?
I also received same sextortion emails several times before and I don't even have camera connected to my computer.

1GYNGZLEUGkkQjHo19dHDnGE87WsAiGLLB
That address that is inactive since 2018, it had total of 14 transaction and it received ‎0.93 BTC and not 4000 BTC like you say.

It looks to me that OP is trying to promote his own btctester bitcoin analytics and forensics website with sensational and fake news like this, and that is not a good way to promote anything.  Tongue
7548  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: buying crypto currencies and then travelling on: May 22, 2021, 08:32:02 AM
If you buy crypto currencies in one country and then travel to another country, as long as I have the passphrase and private key on paper, hidden in mulptiple places and the crypto on an online exchange, no kyc, p2p bought, non custodial and bought on a clean laptop, can I delete the website from by laptop, including the online wallet, and then sign in again to that exchange after travelling.
You are mixing many things up, paper wallets have nothing to do with exchange accounts that usually need your email address and password, but you don't have any control of coins in your account.
Access to your exchange account should be possible from anywhere in the world if you have your login details unless some country is in some restricted region,
but they can always lock your account and freeze your coins or withdrawals like we see happening in Binance and other exchanges.

I have heard, dont know if it is true, but better safe than sorry, that they now have devices to scan your smartphone and laptop to see what is on it. I would not be surprised if they do that now, the governments of the world are becoming very anti crypto currency, especially for privacy coins.
There is no special device that can scan your smartphone and laptop if they are encrypted and protected with strong passwords, but if they want governments can always extort and blackmail you to give them access or go to jail.
Backdoors for devices are also possible but why should they waste time on this when they can break people much easier with old fashioned mafia way, and they are also working on bounties for cracking hardware wallets.
7549  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could eco-friendly pools like Terra Pool end the energy consumption discussion? on: May 22, 2021, 08:17:04 AM
While I'm waiting for news about Terra pool, I found the following interesting article:

Moving to Green Bitcoin May be Moving To a Two-Tier Bitcoin

I don't like this idea of multi tiers, and Bitcoin mining devices are energy agnostics like any other electric devices, that means they can use electricity from whatever source, coal, hydro, nuclear or even poo if someone invents such device that transforms humans feces into energy.
People will again send and mix coins from all pools, call them green or dirty and this efforts to divide Bitcoin in tiers will be futile in the end, like it happened with Marathon opac compliant mining pool.
7550  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: More China Craziness - "Cracking done on mining" on: May 22, 2021, 08:08:30 AM
China is banning Bitcoin every year so I think it would be a good idea to have special Bitcoin Ban day we can all mark on our calendars and celebrate annually.
Look at it from positive side, if they ban and restrict Bitcoin mining that means that pools from other countries will have bigger share and there will be no more fake news how China controls Bitcoin.
Bitcoin is like a living organism and it adapts to whatever conditions are in the world with regulations and everything else, but I think Chinese will just move everything underground and continue their business as usual.
7551  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: BTC Needs A Privacy Layer on: May 22, 2021, 05:39:37 AM
Privacy is very important and one of the basic human rights and Bitcoin must have better privacy in future maybe with some second layer, sidechain or code upgrade, maybe even lightning network can be used for privacy.

I am always looking for interesting new projects and I found something called zCash Sidechain using BIP300, zSide and Melt/Cast for making fully anonymous transaction.

One more interesting project I am currently testing is Mercury wallet that is still in early development and it is using something called coinswaps on layer two statechain that enables transfering of private keys without any on-chain transactions.

7552  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: how to transfer Ledger BTC to a new ledger wallet (anonymously) on: May 22, 2021, 05:09:01 AM
My friend has a Ledger wallet, and she wants to transfer the Bitcoin from a ledger wallet to a different ledger wallet (without a record of the transaction).

Is this possible in a SAFE way?

This is possible only if you import your seed words from first ledger device to second ledger device, there will be no transaction and you will have full control on both devices.
Keep in mind that coins are always on blockchain and not actually on hardware devices but importing seed words on multiple devices you can lose all your coins, and you are reducing your security,
so do this only if you are the owner of both devices.
All transactions for coins like Bitcoin are public and everyone can see them, but using coinjoins with Wasabi wallet or bitcoin mixers like Chipmixer will increase your privacy a lot, but there will still be some transaction history for receiving address.
7553  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: [VELIKA LISTA] Hardverski novčanici (80+) on: May 22, 2021, 04:48:46 AM

7554  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Novosti on: May 21, 2021, 12:05:52 PM

7555  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could eco-friendly pools like Terra Pool end the energy consumption discussion? on: May 21, 2021, 11:56:52 AM
I thought you had information to compare Bitcoin with electric cars as you were pretty bold about your claim. I think the one making a claim should also try to prove it Wink

I am not pro researcher or writer but use your own head and think for a minute.
According to some stats just in year 2020 global electric car sale was around 10,800,000 and they all spend electricity for charging all the time, while zero electricity is spent for gasoline cars.
Just one average electric car spends 33 kWh per 100 miles, now if you multiple that with millions and billions of cars you will get some interesting numbers.
Much more electricity is spent on production of Lithium batteries, and even simple stand-by electronics we all use at our homes are spending much more electricity than Bitcoin, and that is the fact.
Looks like you love proof so here is some data comparison that you won't hear from Bill Gates and clowns like him, always-on electric devices in America are spending 1,375 TWh/yr,
that is 12 times more compared with Bitcoin network estimated 113.89 TWh/yr.
I think every house have one or more cars in modern western world, now imagine if every car will be electric by 2030... and they all spend electricity all the time, numbers go up so easy.

7556  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Secure Element in Hardware Wallets on: May 21, 2021, 11:20:30 AM
New hardware wallet model CoolWallet Pro introduced new Secure Element J3R110 that has higher evaluation assurance level EAL6+ compared with their older model CoolWallet S, and this chip is often used in smart cards.
I don't see any big improvements or changes and this wallet still remains closed source, so I would look for other alternatives.
7557  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Why exactly is Bitcoin clinging to PoW? on: May 21, 2021, 10:23:02 AM
Bitcoin is clinging to PoW because the original network and its miners don't want to fork anything.
There has been many changes in Bitcoin code and Taproot will be next one, but majority needs to agree that change is good and not just two random rich guys.

Even trying to increase the block size led to a fork: Bitcoin Cash. And there were other forks too.
It's not as easy as just increasing block size that would not fix anything long term and would result in more forked coins.
Just look what happened with BCH joined project of CSW Faketoshi and RogerVer aka MemoryDealers, that later split into one more fake coin BSV, and after that Amaury Sachet forked his own coin BCHA.
That is the circus show you will get when someone decides to just increase block size and create ''better'' Bitcoin vision.

Things you can't do on Bitcoin are build a decentralized exchange, write smart contracts, etc.
Smart contracts are so smart that stupid developers are making so much bugs and every day we hear news of some new exploits resulted in losing of millions.
I don't know what is worse smart contracts or smart phones, seems to me that both of them are making people more stupid, but gold medal goes to smart contracts.
Bitcoin should never have smart contracts, but scripts are still possible and they will be used much more in near future.

And if Bitcoin prices go up, then mining rewards become more valuable (rising faster than the halvings). The result: electricity use will increase for 100 years until it consumes half the electricity on the planet.
C'mon man  Roll Eyes
This is just crazy thinking and you obviously watch to much CNN and mainstream media if you really believe that Bitcoin mining will ever consume 50% of world electricity.
7558  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Načini povlačenja, pretvaranja bitcoina u HRK on: May 21, 2021, 08:51:56 AM

7559  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: [VELIKA LISTA] Hardverski novčanici (80+) on: May 21, 2021, 08:40:05 AM

FLX One, KeyWallet Classic i Pro, Xzen, Littleshell, Esecubit, Coinlet, Case, Secalot i KeyFort K300.
7560  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Načini povlačenja, pretvaranja bitcoina u HRK on: May 20, 2021, 02:48:20 PM
