7541  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will reach 100K! OK and then? on: January 13, 2021, 08:38:45 PM
The prediction of reaching $100k is still not a reality so why do we have to worry or think too much about the after when we still haven't reached that point. Tbh, we don't even know when will we reach that price and it's difficult to know exactly what will happen after bitcoin reached $100k since there are a lot of possibilities. Correction is highly possible, same with the continue rising but one thing I doubt is bitcoin falling back to zero.
You are right, the prediction of bitcoin to reach $100000 is not yet certain, but not that it is not certain, it will be certain but when it will happen is what that is not certain. Bitcoin is a digital gold and have the potential to be compared with gold because it should be valuable than gold because it has limited supply. With time, it will not be surprising that bitcoin marketcap will reach over $1 trillion and continue to increase but with short term decrease but net long term increase. Bitcoin will reach $100000 and over long term again will surpass it, that is just what will be the reality.
7542  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will reach 100K! OK and then? on: January 13, 2021, 08:38:46 AM
Many predicts bitcoin will reach 100K, 160K even 200K and more. but no one say what happen then? what happen when reach for example 100K? will be stable, fall to zero, continue with correction or raise more? what is your suggestion  Huh
When bitcoin was at its early stage, when people have not really known bitcoin, its value has not fallen to zero, so if the price will increase and reach $100000, that means it has become more adopted and more difficult to fall to zero, it is not possible for bitcoin to fall to zero.

Just let us all be admitting the fact that bitcoin is a deflationary money, the price may decrease today but before you will know over a long term, the price would have increased more than expected. This is happening because it has a limited supply which is only 21 million btc in total, and because institutions and people are getting to know how deflationary nature Bitcoin is possessing.

Bitcoin price will increase above those prices one day, probably in this decade, while its price will never reduce to zero as it is a deflationary currerency.
7543  Economy / Economics / Re: DeFiOrg accelerator influence on bitcoin on: January 13, 2021, 08:26:54 AM
Do you think that this news has a good effect on Bitcoin in general and the price in particular?
DeFi itself is having no effect on bitcoin adoption and marketcap increase in my opinion, it is bitcoin that is helping ether and any bitcoin related DeFi projects, increase in marketcap will directly also have effect on ether in which its marketcap and price will increase. People that supposed to buy Bitcoin directly instead because of bitcoin related DeFi active income bought such DeFi coins like wrapped Bitcoin and the likes, but I believe this are funds that supposed to have gone into bitcoin buying directly. Ethereum is just using such means to increase its marketcap, Bitcoin is not dependent on any projects, but projects depending on bitcoin. If bitcoin is getting more adoption, not because of any altcoin or altcoin projects, but altcoin projects like DeFi, including ether itself has increased in adoption because of bitcoin in DeFi projects.

I believe this can help people to know about grayscale products and services.

7544  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why nobody can hack blockchain on: January 12, 2021, 12:44:41 PM
To hack blockchain is possible, if you specify the blockchain will be different, like the Bitcoin Blockchain, it is impossible to be hacked, as the hashrate generated by miners is also increasing, it is getting more impossible to hack Bitcoin Blockchain. But, there are many cryptocurrencies with individual blockchain. There have been blockchain that were hacked in the past, like the Bitcoin gold and ethereum classic, their blockchain suffered 51% attack in the paste in which their blockchain were compromised. Also, new coins with little hashrate generated by miners can suffer 51% attack. But, unlike Bitcoin blockchain which can not suffer 51% attack.

About centralized exchanges, they are often hacked, that is why we should not leave our bitcoin and other funds on exchanges, we should leave it on noncustodial wallet, especially hardware wallets. Custodial exchanges even do not generate private keys for their customers, which is another reason we should not have the funds we are not trading with on exchanges. Not your key not your coin.
7545  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where do you store your cold wallet?? on: January 12, 2021, 11:13:08 AM
Where do you store your cold wallet? A safe in your house? Also, where do you store your backup recovery phrase? Seems risky to store them both in the same place right? Fire could take both out.
What will be the first point of focus for thives? It will be the safe in someone's home, this should not be a good place of saving hardware wallet or any other cold wallet, today's thives may not know what hardware or paper wallet is, but they are getting advance, it can even be the point of target in the future, while safe is not good for saving anything these era.

To keep cold wallets, a place very safe and out of reach to theives will be good, cold wallets are not big to the extent it can be noticable, they are very small in a way they can be kept in a place not even known to theives at home, but safe will never come to my mind.

About seed phrase, it is very important to store them in a safe place that will be safe from attackers and damages. That is why I made a topic that people suggested different ways they can store their seed phrase.

7546  Economy / Services / Re: [FULL] ChipMixer Signature Campaign | Sr Member+ | Up to 0.0375 BTC/w on: January 11, 2021, 08:49:59 AM
I just want to contribute about the weekly payment of this campaign, some people can be annoyed because the payment is high and wish for reduction, and most likely these people are not on this campaign, that is how human nature is, but if they are hired for this campaign, they will not think so. If there will be reduction in the weekly payment, we members are not concerned, only people that are concerned are the brain behind Chipmixer and the campaign manager, DarkStar. They have a representative that will negotiate this to DarkStar. DarkStar will be the one to declear appreciate changes to terms of payment or new campaign will be opened. So far Bitcointalk members are not the ones paying for this campaign, they need not to make any comment about the payment in my opinion.

7548  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If China confiscates miners - is Bitcoin still safe? [Threat Model Analysis] on: January 10, 2021, 09:01:25 AM
There are many such people making the false statements that bitcoin is centralized and can be controlled by miners in China, the reason for their claim is because China has around 60% of the total world Bitcoin miners. But if you check about this indept, you will be able to know that bitcoin is not controlled by China.

Who are the people buying Bitcoin? Are they from China?
Most Bitcoin are mined in China is compared to individual countries, around 40% of bitcoin is not mined in China, most Bitcoin mined in China are bought but people from another country. So, Bitcoin is mostly mined in China, but not all is mined in China, while most of the Bitcoin mined in China are bought by people and institutions from another country. Some Chinese miners are even move to Siberia to mine while things can happen in the future to let some country you do not expect to evolve to mine Bitcoin.
7549  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lightning Network Development in Bitcoin on: January 10, 2021, 08:27:00 AM
You can check the Bitcoin lightning network 'real time statistics'.
https://1ml.com/statistics

So with the LN sidechain, does it solved the slow transaction speed issue?
It will solve it. The transaction speed of the lightning network can be as low as a second, also if the onchain fee is too high, some people can later be resorting to lightning network for sending Bitcoin which is cheaper.

Does it make the mining fee cheaper now?
The lightning network fee is very negligible, at 0.000005 satoshi.

Is using Bitcoin to buy a pack of gym feasible nowadays?
Some people have used lightning network, it is slowly increasing in adoption but there is still an increase in lightning network adoption which makes it feasible. But, it will be good for transferring small amount of Bitcoin.
7550  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin transaction not on blockchain. on: January 09, 2021, 11:07:56 PM
Exodus wallet is not a recommended wallet, but this is so surprising. It will be good to import the Exodus wallet seed phrase on electrum wallet to know if your balance will appear. I will not advice you to use Exodus wallet, use trusted ones like electrum.

To download electrum, use the official site for the download, electrum.org. Make sure you verify the wallet.

Let us know if your balance appear after importing the seed phrase on electrum wallet.
7551  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why the lazy attitude? on: January 09, 2021, 11:48:14 AM
The fear of saying the wrong thing and be banned?
There are some wrong statements that new members will make, but if plagiarism or spamming is not included, they will not be banned. There are even other members that will make wrong statement and be corrected. But, if new members are corrected, they need to accept the corrections. Some new members may not want to accept corrections and can be difficult for such members to rank up.

The phobia of having your deleted posts due to spamming?
There should be no phobia about this. Already stated in the rules, 'no copy and paste', or include the link. Also no posting of meaningless and other non useful contents.

The fear of plagiarizing some article or posts?
Plagiarism is against the rules of the forum, it is clear that someone will copy from another site and post here, it is like a supervisor saying students should not do exam malpractices, if a student do exam malpractices, he must be punished. Plagiarism on this forum is also punisable, ban is the punishment. Some people will plagiarize, thinking other members will not know, but be reported and caused him ban.

The feeling that the cryptosphere is just too difficult to fully comprehend?
Not difficult for those that have passion for it.

The feeling that the rules aren’t favorable or against you?
The rules are not hard, the rules are for the betterment of this forum and are important. They are normal rules on other successful platforms. No rules on a forum will only lead to full plagiarizers, spammers and other shitposters.

The feeling that merits are being hoarded by ranked up users and redistributed amongst them?
Newbies should not have this kind of mentality, it is very wrong and not true at all.

The feeling that ranked up users likes you to be at the bottom of the food chain?
Many newbies account still grow last year, also many newbie accounts will grow this year.  But, only the serious ones.
7552  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning] 10 fake wallets on Google Store - please report them on: January 09, 2021, 08:45:11 AM
People should be careful while making use of Google playstore for app download, not even only google but all other app sites. It is even advisable to never use app stores for app download because fake apps that resemble or mimic the app to download can be on the app store and be the one to be downloaded mistakenly. This is not surprising anymore, but it is still worth mentioning this here immediately such are detected so it can be reported by many people in order for the app to be taken down. Anyone making use of app store like google playstore can make the mistake of downloading fake apps.
Playstores should not be use for app download, visiting the app download official site is necessary because fake ones can mistakenly be downloaded from playstores, google playstore most especially.

Hodlhodl or bsiq exchange will be good to sell Bitcoin anonymously, you can also use these exchanges to buy Bitcoin without no kyc required. Also is another one called LocalCryptos which will be good because no kyc needed also.
7555  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I have a stuck transaction in BTC, what should I do? on: January 07, 2021, 10:53:02 PM
RBF can be used only by the sender.
Thank you, I gain from you very well. Like he his using wallet like electrum in which he can be able to spend unconfirmed transaction, he can just generate a new address and use higher fee for the transaction into his new address on the same electrum wallet. That means the transaction will be confirmed very fast if high fee is used.
7556  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM] Funsinvest.com - Ponzi scheme on: January 07, 2021, 09:59:50 PM
I do not have to look at this before I will know it is a Ponzi, the problem is just that people like to be greedy and be lured with such daily profit scam. This should be clear and known to people that this is just high yield investment scam which is not new again. Very possible early investors will gain like like Ponzi nature while the investors that invest later will lose. And again be a lesson of how dangerous how high yield business can be and fake after many investors lose their money to this.
7557  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Another sad story, 2.6 BTC lost. on: January 07, 2021, 09:44:32 PM
Offline backup is really necessary, it is the best way to recover back backup information, it is also the safest from online attackers, that is why it is just the best. Also, many people like stringent ways to backup informations like seed phrase, private key and passwords, which supposed not to be too stringent. Some will even look for their own means of encryption. Stringent ways of backup can lead to loss of such information.
7558  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Is there anything called 'private key day' on: January 07, 2021, 07:27:14 PM
I am just surprised to know there is a day called 'proof of key day' which is January 3rd of every year now.

Quote
https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/proof-of-keys-a-critical-test-for-bitcoin
Proof of Keys day was initially created as a test for exchanges and other third-party custodians — a way for individuals to ensure that third parties holding bitcoin weren’t operating as a fractional reserve.

I am now wondering how there can be 'proof of key day' but nothing like 'private key day'. One of the most important thing to know while dealing with bitcoin is private key. And we should have a day to celebrate private key so people will know how it is not safe in term of control of bitcoin to make use of any custodial service in order to have full control over ones bitcoin.

Quote
https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/proof-of-keys-a-critical-test-for-bitcoin
Why Are Private Keys So Interesting?
Private keys are one of the best technologies in existence for granting asymmetric power to individuals. The source of that power lies in ownership and control over data — whether that data is Bitcoin or a text message. Only the owner of the key which encrypted a piece of data can view or control it, and it’s practically impossible to break that control with technical brute force.

For example, a Bitcoin private key is a random number between 1 and 2^256. That means that, on average, a computer would need to guess more numbers than the estimated number of atoms in the universe before it could guess the correct private key. That is the power of private keys, and anyone can have that power. With the right tools in the hands of individuals, this technology is world changing.

If you read the link further, you will be able to know how custodial service providers can pose a threat to bitcoin in the future in a way governments will have control over it. What if goverment want to ban Bitcoin, people's Bitcoin on exchanges will only be seized and never be given again, but Bitcoin is beyond that, those that have the private key to their bitcoin will still be able to carry out transactions amount themselves. In order to reduce these controls and manipulations of the central bodies, people still need to know how private key is very important. Not your key not your coin.

I want to ask if there is 'private key day'? If there is none, please let us have one. We can choose a day on this forum for 'private key day', for the awareness of how private key is truly the real reason Bitcoin owners have full control on their bitcoin.

7560  Economy / Scam Accusations / Another YouTube fake giveaway scam on: January 07, 2021, 01:04:21 PM
This is another YouTube fake giveaway scam, it happened through a young artist, Keyshawn Butler YouTube account, he confirmed on his Instagram page that his YouTube account has been compromised.

An American rapper’s YouTube channel has reportedly been hacked to promote a fake ETH and BTC giveaway live stream that seems to have over 56,000 viewers.

Quote
https://cointelegraph.com/news/rapper-hiiikey-confirms-youtube-channel-hack-fake-crypto-giveaway-steals-70k
American rapper HiiiKey’s YouTube channel has reportedly been hacked and used to promote a fake Bitcoin and Ethereum giveaway that has stolen over $70,000 from unwitting users. The stream has been active for over 7 hours and is still live as of press time.

The hackers then used the page to upload a livestream on January 7 that was promoting an elaborate Ethereum and Bitcoin giveaway. Given the large amount of subscribers to the channel, there are apparently over 56,000 viewers watching the stream live.

The livestream used an old video of Ethereum cofounder Vitalik Buterin talking about the launch of the Beacon Chain and the transition to Ethereum 2.0 before December 2020. The video was overlaid with text promoting a giveaway of 40,000 ETH and 3,000 BTC through a fake website.

Users were then offered varying returns through the giveaway, which required ETH or BTC to be sent to specific addresses. Entrants were promised to receive double the amount of cryptocurrency that they sent to the addresses.

A quick search of the ETH address given on the website reveals that the hackers have received a total of 39.1 ETH worth around $47,260 at press time. The BTC address has received just over 0.6 BTC which is currently around $22,000.

There had been no mention of any giveaways on the official Ethereum Twitter account, or that of Vitalik Buterin. Cointelegraph has also reached out to HiiiKey for comment and has not received a reply at the time of publication.

This do occur often and yet people still fall victim.
